Hearing as well as pukki celtic want a striker from bradford called Nakhi Wells, he is supposed to have started this season on fire and was one of the main reasons bradford made it to a cup final last year . Skeg67

Believable13 Unbelievable14

I posted on here in january saying we should take a punt on this lad, I've watched him more than enough to say he would find the net for us with ease. The boy is quality and is still only young, teams down south have looked at him but went for safer options in, frazier campbell, charlie austin etc. I'd like CFC to take a shot with this lad, he could bring us in a fortune in 2-3 years, still raw'ish but he knows where the net is.

S

Agree1 Disagree0

Just signed a 3 year deal and their manager says no chance they are selling him. would sell him for a big bid but we don't do big bids. we do biscuit tin bids.

Agree1 Disagree1

Definitely wouldn't want Nakhi Wells. An okay season in league 2 and a few good games in league 1. I'd rather go for another SPL player like Billy McKay! Wells is no better than what we already have.

if you keep taking shots on youngsters eventually you realise its shots to your own head, buy something decent

Agree0 Disagree0

I think wells could be a star his movement is hooperesque very intelligent in a very mediocre team it's not a punt if scouted properly

SOS BHOY

Agree0 Disagree0

QPR have made abid of £3 mil for him so looks like he's away from us as well

Well it looks as though we've lost out on Alfred Finnbogason. Cardiff have reportedly been given permission to open talks with him.

Why does Lawwel and co persist in taking so long and messing about so lower EPL teams come in and snap up targets.

MikeyBhoy88

Believable16 Unbelievable18

Augsburg and cardiff are/were after him. should we not maybe aim higher or find new players, no one heard of before?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't read anything into that. Cardiff haven't even agreed a fee with Heerenveen. Celtic haven't missed out on him at all. I said the other day and I still stand by this that the club have been working extremely hard to strike a deal with Heerenveen and it would seem that they are prepared to do sensible business. It could eventually come down to Finnbogason.

~seamus~

Agree0 Disagree3

I would imagine its the players, agents and present team that stall things. Not like buying a fish supper. Celtic held onto their 3 as long as possible to get best deal . TTTS

Agree0 Disagree1

Supposedly the bid they have accepted is for 10million euros or just under £9million, PL would have had a stroke if he was quoted that figure. PK1888

Agree1 Disagree0

We would all like to know that, well said Mikey Bhoy88 .PL needs to give some truthful answers is it only me that smells a certain Jock Brown all over again

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand why Cardiff would pay that when we were quoted 5 million. If it is true then good luck to the guy as we wouldn't have paid that amount in the O'Neill days.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely the €10m asking price explains why the deal wasn't done or are some people just too keen to slate PL for everything?
CBP

Agree0 Disagree0

Thing is 2 weeks ago we could have snapped him up for 5m euros.

MikeyBhoy88

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe it's just not what all use know it alls seem to think, maybe he would rather play in ePl or bunislega, seen as he's not a tim why would he choose celtic over that?

Agree0 Disagree0

MikeyBhoy- says who?

The naivety from everyone in relation to the simplicity/cost of transfers is mind boggling.

There is way more to a transfer than some random number quoted in the news- paper or online. It's not Football Manager.

The Patient

Agree1 Disagree0

This bhoy was always going 2 go for more than £5 million euro, Herreven played the bidding game and rightly so we done it with Waynama and got more money, would have loved the lad to come but spl not attractive enough plus agree with other post, not even Martin Oneil would have got £10 mill to spend on 1 player, let's move on, the board have let us down yes, but we all need to stick together this wk, I can see the lads doing it, Finn will wake up 1 day regretting he never chose us guarantee hail hail keep the faith

Agree0 Disagree0

People need to realise Peter Lawwell is the best signing Celtic have made said Henrik. If the deals good for Celtic then it will be done, if not Peter walks and we should all be behind him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree lawell has been good for celtic couple of mistakes but overall he has done a great job

Agree0 Disagree0

I haven't heard any truth in Cardiff being given permission to talk to Finnbogason. Cardiff have already spent £28m, including £7.5m on a striker, who didn't even start at the weekend. Will they have €10m for another striker?

If €10m is the figure Heerenveen are demanding, we need to just accept he's out of our price range and move on! Being bitter of these small ssn funded premier league clubs won't get us anywhere!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lawell has done amazing things for our club! But on he has possibly took too much of a gamble on selling before qualifiers are complete with no replacements which may just be us being unlucky in the market so far! We did try to sign rudnevs and the wolfsberg boy who rejected us.

SOS BHOY

Agree0 Disagree0

I am as frustrated with the lack of quality at the club than anyone; however as much as it pains me, we are not an attractive option for many players (out-with CL football).
Players and agents hold all the power in transfer deals, stalling and using clubs as bait for bigger and better prospects.
Yes, we left things late (as usual), but this week will see new additions and if we somehow overturn the 2-0 on Wednesday; the quality will increase.

Was reading paper talk today that we're linked with Billy Sharp and Pablo Piatti, IMO both of these would be good additions for the squad. Also, Stoke are linked with a £5m move for John Guidetti, surely we could afford to go for him? KT

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Transfer fee yes wages no, we can't compete with EPL clubs when it comes to that.

Agree0 Disagree1

Player ambition? Europe, can we not use that as well as a sell on clause if required or rot in the reserves? I t would seem a no brainer can't PL sell that! maybe he's in the wrong job

Agree0 Disagree1

The boy piatti wouldn't be a squad player, I think he would shift forrest out the team or commons, depending on where lenny would want to play him.

Well seen it's crazy season.

So since the start of August we've been linked with Wolves' Kevin Doyle (FW), Heerenveen's Alfie Finnbogason (FW), Werder Bremen's Marko Anautovic (FW), Schalke's Teemu Pukki (FW), Peterborough's Lee Tomlin (FW), Hull's Cameron Stewart (RW), Lorient's Innocent Emeghara (FW), Lazio's Michael Ciani (CB) and Ashdod's Nir Biton (DM).

Ed, do you know how many of these we have a genuine interest are and how many are just the Scottish media putting 1 + 1 together and getting 3?

HamiltonBhoy {Ed007's Note - Doyle was a target in January, as far as I know there has been no move for the player during this window. Finnbogason, as I have said all along I felt any move hinged on CL football. Arnautovic rejected a move to us even though we had agreed a fee with Werder Bremen .Tomlin and Stewart are 'available options'.
I really don't know where the Emeghara link came from so I can't say what status any move for him could be at. My Italian is not the best but as far as I can make out Ciani has made a specific request from CFC/NL/PL(??), this could be anything from a minimum release clause or CL qualification to playing the flute on the pitch at HT and wanting a banana instead of an orange! Nir Biton has the same agent as Remi Gershon and Omer Damari (remember him?) so I do think this one has some legs.}

Believable0 Unbelievable5

If we somehow end up with Finnbogason, Ciani and Biton I'll be a much happier bhoy. If we hadn't have been linked with Finnbogason, the Pukki link would be quite exciting. Arnautovic would have been brill but obviously out of reach. The Lee Tomlin link can gtf.

Agree0 Disagree1

Cheers mate!

Thanks for bringing that name up as well. What about us going back in for Damari?!

The lad's continued banging them in for Hapoel - 45 in 97 according to Wikipedia!

Scottish champions Celtic are one of a host of clubs interested in signing Al Ain winger Jires Kembo Ekoko, Sport360 understands.
Ekoko is free to leave the Tahnoun bin Mohammed Stadium this summer following the recent arrival of Michel Bastos from Lyon.

looks like deal for Nir Biton is done deal, this looks like perfect replacement for wanyama, 6ft 5, great with both feet, reads game well, strong on the ball, had trial for Man City last year. below is you tube link for any celtic fans want to see how he did on trial. perfect celtic prospect young, good value for money, and could make tidy profit in the future, what do you think ed?. do you think this is exactly what we need as a DM in midfield?

{Ed007's Note - You can't judge a player on Youtube but he certainly looks calm and comfortable on the ball.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

Anybody can look good on YouTube. He does look strong and composed, doesn't seem to move a lot though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks a tidy player keeps it simple looks composed could be a crackin signin

If this is true, I really am very impressed. Jean-Pierre Laguerre

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed is there substance to this deal? {Ed007's Note - As I said on another thread, he has the same agent as Gershon and Omer Damari, things like that point to it being a distinct possibility.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Posted just as thread was refreshed ed was new rumours when I came out from posting sorry bud {Ed007's Note - No worries mate.}

Agree0 Disagree0

This guy looks like a Celtic player fingers crossed on this one, tell PL to let someone else arrange the deal .

Agree0 Disagree0

Just what we need another midfielder who according to his record offers no goal threat!

Agree0 Disagree0

To the last poster - he plays in the holding role, and would be a (much needed) replacement for wanyama. Is also a player we can almost certainly make a profit on. Jean-Pierre Laguerre.

Billy Sharp poised 2 sign in the next 2 days. Also Benfica have made a fresh bid for Forster.

Fallon67

Believable5 Unbelievable11

Dont believe everything you hear on they never get anything right. Hope they are wrong again Sharp is a massive comedown from Alfred F but just shows the extent of Ambition from our BOD if true.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd be happy with Sharp, should score goal's for fun in the SPL. The Alfred Finn rumour was never getting off the ground with a 5mill + price tag. I, like most others have not been overly happy with the lack of signing's but I also understand that that a 5mill + player is not justified in the league we play. People keep going on as if this buy was the next big thing, if that was the case a team with a bigger budget than Celtic would have snapped him up. Also, the re-sale value on a player costing this amount is to big a gamble.

Delhoy74

Agree2 Disagree0

It's not guaranteed Finboggason would score plenty for us so it's very unfair to say Sharp would be a massive comedown. I for one, and I'm sure most other Celtic fans would agree will support whoever we bring in with the same passion. Just because Sharp isn't foreign or big money doesn't make him any less of a player. We've signed Hooper, Wanyama, Kayal, Matthews, Ledley, Izzaguire and Commons (. Ad more) from smaller clubs an for less money for although Finboggason may look good and may well be an amazing player it's a disservice to Sharp and our Scouting system to be disappointed with any Sharp over another one.

Doc

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with you doc. Its blatantly obvious we need something (but not anything). there is no proven cover that can score regularly and a few 12th hour patch up loan deals really aren't the answer rglen8

Celtic have reportedly received an offer from Benfica for goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

Bco88

Believable8 Unbelievable7

If its higher than the reported 5 mill that was rejected I say take it

Agree0 Disagree0

Take it and run. For such a big guy he completely lacks in presence!

HamiltonBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Great shot stopper. can't kick and his punching ability would leave him second best in most 2nd yr high school brawls. It hasn't helped that his cbs have been shaky. Don't think its the right time to sell at all though. With our track record of finding prompt adequate replacements I really don't think its worth the gamble. As its been said before I think any movement in/out will hinge on wed night rglen8

Agree0 Disagree0

Meant to add there- If he gets his finger out and gets a place in the national side and pulls off 2 good saves in an England friendly down the line his price will go up 4m (in England!) rglen8

Billy sharp has told friends and family he is signing for celtic the ex bhoys and former zombie at Southampton sold him on the move heard bannan, ciani, pukki, and aloan from a big premiership side aswell. hail hail

Believable9 Unbelievable8

Not good enough

Agree0 Disagree1

So so disappointing if true.

Craigie_bhoy

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree, not good enough and isn't the signing that will get bums on seats at CP. Very disappionted if true!

S {Ed007's Note - People are jumping the gun in judging Sharp. If he is happy and settled he is a great poacher. If we sign him he WILL score goals, I have no doubt about it. Money is not his motivation either, he turned down EPL teams (and more money) to sign for Doncaster Rovers, personal/family happiness is far more important to him than money.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Ed totally agree, Billy Sharp will score for fun up here, no he not what we need for europe but someone else be brought in to play along side him {Ed007's Note - He would rip the league up in Scotland and I'd bet with his attitude and approach he would become a fan's favourite.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Guy is a workhorse easily 25 goals mate

Agree1 Disagree0

Amazing how people see Sharp as a backward's step but see Alfred Finn as the next big thing!

All our transfer dealing's are a step into the unknown and I agree with Ed, think Sharp would be a great signing!

Hi Ed - scottish tabloid linking us with Nir Biton - Israeli holding midfielder. It is an interesting one - I posted on another Celtic site a few months ago that we should possibly look at him. He is extremely tall - a bit of a beanpole - and likes to get forward and have a shot. Feedback is that he is not the most mobile/agile but Man City played him in a couple of pre-season games last year, and they tend to only look at the best athletes, so he must have something. Jean-Pierre Laguerre

Believable7 Unbelievable6

Ed - just on another guy I tipped us to buy in the wanyama role: Mohammed Rabiu from Evian, has now joined Kuban Krasnodar on a 3 year deal. I know Neil watched Evian in the french cup final, and I feel we have missed out on an excellent (affordable) player there. Jean-Pierre Laguerre

Looks like the striker is Pukki from all reports this morning. I just can't see the value for money aspect of this deal. We could sign Finbogasson for 5 million and pick this guy up for a nominal fee (1 million) in January. Instead we are spending 3 million now and probably another 3 million either now or January on another inferior striker.

Newcastle and Celtic on alert as Swiss international requests transfer

Only 5ft 7in tall, Innocent Emeghara has too much quality to be played in the second tier of Italian football, but Siena's general manager is unwilling to let the Swiss star leave so soon on the cheap.

Stefano Antonelli said earlier this week: "Twenty-four clubs have asked about the player but most have the same approach. Livorno is the most advanced at this stage but then today comes Celtic."

J67

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Just a little guy. 7 goals in 16 games for relegated siena last year. He started out with 4 goals in 6 games, but finished with 3 in 10. He's too good for Serie B. His level in Italy is the bottom feeders of Serie A. expected to go to Livorno. Surprised his name has popped up as a celtic target.
