Unsubstantiated rumour that Lewis Ferguson could be coming to Celtic. HH.

25 Mar 2021 20:20:27
Let's hope it is bollocks as he is over rated and nothing more than a dirty player.

Have to disagree lennonatwork. Would love to see him come to celtic. Make sense with brown on his way up to the dons. Plays in a similar role.

25 Mar 2021 21:13:11
I am happy with Soro in that position. The sheep would not sell him cheap and anything over 500K is a rip off as he is bang average.

25 Mar 2021 21:29:46
LAW I've got to disagree, I think Ferguson would be a cracking piece of recruitment. Next best young player in Scotland to Turnbull. he's not had as good a year as last but Aberdeen as a whole have been poorer. We don't even have a manager so the rumour will just be made up beyond our general interest.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 21:47:50
Soro has to get his chance, he has been more than patient and when he has had a stint, he looks like a good prospect. However, with the squad set to be decimated we have to consider any decent player?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 23:09:51
@SOS-BHOY - Imagine we did sign him, how much do you think it would cost? Who sits out between Soro, McGregor and Turnbull?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 07:01:13
I've always thought Ferguson can play and based on his age and ability would prosper under a better coach.
It's a yes 👍 from me.

Can’t see their new manager agreeing to sell their best player as he tries to build his own side.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 07:43:05
He might sell with Brown coming in for free then use the cash to help rebuild. I’d imagine he’s cost £2-3m and would be a good piece of business IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 07:46:43
Unless he sells him to raise funds knowing that Brown can play that position for their 'bigger games'

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 09:04:56
I think Lewis would be a good squad player, but instead of paying 2/ 3 million for him, would it not make more financial sense signing the boy Campbell from Motherwell who I'm sure is available on a bosman at the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 09:32:32
Remember they were wanting 5 million for McKenna, so I doubt we would get him cheap and he would just be a squad player as there are better midfielders already at Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 11:32:50
cowabunga00, Allan Campbell could be a good shout at only 22yrs of age and having played over 150 games for Motherwell.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 16:41:31
Campbell over Ferguson all day long.

And Roy Keane can bolt! Don’t want the man anywhere near our club. No better than Lennon.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 16:02:47
Roy keane is 100% celtic manager will be announced very soon. No sure am too happy about this but will give him a chance.

Can see it after all the bad comments about him, not a season ticket seller in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 16:33:00
If it's true I would like to see him MON and Damian Duff form a management team as there would be a god mix of everything required.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 16:33:18
Let's be honest you think a few bad comments going to put Keane off? Season tickets will still sell IMO. If the correct backroom staff with him it could work.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 16:45:34
I know it's not the first man to have betting suspended on but the fact Ed007 said this is what he heard weeks even months ago would suggest it's happening 😅. I'm not convinced by RK it really would depend on those around him like OAB says.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 16:51:56
Duff would be a good fit if it's Keane but am still of the opinion it's bull.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 16:53:40
If true I am absolutely devastated and feel totally let down by Dermot Desmond and the Celtic board.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 17:10:53
I think it will be Keane but I think that's an awful appointment. I think football has passed him by and he's a dinosaur. Made a living after football for being a grumpy bore! He's also been out of the game for years - hardly a superstar appointment. What happened to setting your sights high? From Eddie Howe or benitez to a moany ex player (granted an excellent player but not an excellent manager! ) .

He'll moan and moan and then resign moaning about the modern day players and the board not giving him 100 million to sign the worlds best.

Gar 1888, do you have info or going by the bookies?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 18:25:47
Nothing concrete but I've had folk that know folk inside the club saying Desmond wants Keane and he's going to back him well. These folk been saying this for months. But they are saying its happening for sure. I'll wait and see am sceptical myself. But when folk are so sure you have to listen lol.

I'm sure the £1.5m a year will deaden the blow of some negative posts.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 19:11:30
Don't want Keane but if it's him fair enough. Scottish football will be blockbuster next season on Sky with 2 big EPL heavyweights in the main job's.
Always bemused when people say it won't sell season books. It's Celtic we support. Managers, player's, CEO and Owners come and go. Supporting Celtic is unconditional. HH.

25 Mar 2021 20:17:36
If or when Keane signs I won't be buying anything celtic I want my money to go on a young upcoming coach with progressive thoughts and exciting football not a dinosaur.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 20:36:00
I'm the same Marco, they can get tae. if they appoint Keane.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 21:44:43
Like said it all depends who's in the backroom coaching.

They went out and got that guy Beale to help Slippy.

By all accounts it's Beale who sets the tactics.

So as long as we don't fill the backroom team with crap it could work with Keane.

Although I'd rather it wasn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 22:24:05
Well said Greentree. Its not a one man band.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 06:40:31
I'm unsure why we'd even be considering Keane other than the Irish connection to DD, if that's true? There has to be a load of other, better suited managers/ coaches out there.

I would also say that getting the structure correct with a very good D. O F coming in and running the footballing side of the club is more important than the manager.

Playing 😈 advocate, if Slippy G can win the league then there's no reason why Keane can't do the same, but he wouldn't be my choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 13:00:57
@Gar1888 I'd take Howe over Keane in a heartbeat. He's got a proven track record of building and progressing a team. I know he spent big money but keeping a club like Bournemouth in the PL for 4 or 5 years is a great achievement. Would Howe have won the Treble Treble when Rodgers left and then delivered the 9 last season? I think he would have. Would Lennon or Keane have won the Championship and led Bournemouth to a top half PL finish? Not a chance. So I'd see Howe as an improvement on both. The question mark is over his mentality and whether he could handle the pressures of Glasgow but he ticks the rest of the boxes for me.

Scott Brown will be leaving the building in the summer.

Saw a rumour tonight that Liverpool are interested in Edouard and might try to offer Origi as part of a swap. Don't know if I'd be too keen on Origi tbh but could definitely see us asking about somebody like Davies if something like that was to be on the cards.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Mar 2021 07:36:51
Absolutely no chance of a club like Liverpool coming in for him IMO. He’s still too inconsistent in the Scottish league for a club that size to be interested.
Everyone with eyes could see VVD was a Rolls Royce of a player yet the English snobbery meant the very top sides wouldn’t go near until he had proved himself with Southampton in their league 1st.
You could argue they shopped in Championship for a defender but realistically he’s played zero minutes so it’s hardly a ringing endorsement they would sign out with top leagues again. I think striker wise top clubs are reluctant to take a gamble on project signings.
Tierney going to Arsenal is about the only player leaving Scotland directly to big club to play in 1st team that I can remember in last decade or more and that is a 6th-8th best side not the really Elite sides.
I think he is almost certainly going to end up at Leicester with that Judas in the summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 08:23:50
As well as letting us down for large parts of the season, he has also let his own reputation and value slide; because big clubs are not only looking for quality players, but players whose attitude and work ethic is 100% and they are an asset to the dressing room.
I think everyone can see that Eddy is nowhere near the player that established himself as The Moose's replacement and a £40m player.

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Mar 2021 08:54:27
I don't think there's anything in it either GGGG but at the same time, who would you rather have to pick from? Origi or Eddy? I just thought it was interesting that the article mentioned a straight swap but IMO Edouard is definitely better already and has lots of potential to improve further.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 08:57:47
GGGG I don't really take anything from this rumour as it was from a click bait article. But Liverpool are skint and will need to be creative in refreshing their squad. Eddy is a cracking player and has became flat playing in our league. All it takes is a good U21 Euros and many big clubs will be after him.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 10:08:11
All of the high transfer signings who have left Celtic have done well.

VVD - now one of the top defenders in the world.
Wanyama - was doing great until he started getting injury problems.
Tierney - now one of the top full back in the premiership.
Armstrong - took a while to settle but has shown that he is good enough for the EPl.
Dembele - now playing for one of the best teams in Europe at the moment (not one of the biggest but that will come I am sure of it)
Forster - Had an amazing clean sheet record at SOuthampton and then got injured and has struggled to get back in the team every since. Not sure why as he is a top class goalie and proved he can play at that level.

So I'm not sure I agree that Edouard would be a risk. I reckon someone could buy him for 15-25 million, which is not a high fee for top teams in England and I am confident he would deliver.

While Edouard has yet to show the consistency of Dembele he actually has more to his game and more potential, in my opinion. I am confident that under the right system and right coaching he will go on to perform at the highest level as he has so much ability.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 10:11:08
Origi is far too good a player to play in our league and he is probably on £80k per week.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 10:49:38
Origi is on Upwards of £60k a week.

This rumour is shear rubbish.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Mar 2021 16:53:45
Lennon at work I have no doubt Edouard is capable of tearing it up there like many ex players have in the past. My point is more about the snobbery of the Elite BPL teams who don’t rate the league and rarely sign our players until they have proven it at another BPL club 1st.
C.V. impacting a lot of clubs finances might see a change this post season you never know but I’d be surprised if he wasn’t Leicester bound or goes to a Villa, Leeds etc.
