Ed- any chance of Le Fondre?! He would be my first choice but his name hasn't been mentioned! What's your thoughts!?
Kevbhoy88 {Ed007's Note - Reading have said he is not for sale Kev}

Believable1 Unbelievable9

Why would we want him. 6 or 7 good games in his life! hh

Agree0 Disagree2

Have u watched every game? He's a goal scorer, I take us prefer Doyle who's not scored a decent amount of goals since he was at reading?

Agree0 Disagree0

He isn't v good. Hardly started any games for a piss poor reading team. Too small and light. Might score a few in SPL but way short of what we need in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never mind le fondre or the Latvian striker. I think celtic and a lot of supporters are over looking one top notch striker he is a good worker on and off the ball and most of all scored more goals than hooper in the league last season it's a no brainer he would score a barrow load of goals for the great glasgow celtic so why are we mulling over these other strikers who don't come with a good pedigree.

Ed do you have any info on the player mentioned in the Evening Times . Marcello Estigarribia a left winger from Paraguay . Could be worth a packet to Celtic if the kids get his name on their strips LOL . DH {Ed007's Note - I've never even heard of him DH. He does seem to float about from team to team though.}

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Didn't he play for Juventus a couple of seasons ago? Davie c

Agree0 Disagree0

That is a player rangers were looking at 2 or 3 years ago he's playing in europe now and would command a big fee so no on that one

Kelvin Wilson has just left East Mids Airport heading back to Glasgow. I assumed the Forest transfer rumours were rubbish but if he was here at the weekend why was he back today? Any news Ed? {Ed007's Note - The transfer rumours weren't rubbish, Forest's bid was nowhere near CFC's valuation. He was in Nottingham for personal reasons.}

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Davis like Redcrapp, 2 horrible people in football glad we didn't deal with either . those 2 could be in the sevco board . TTTS

Agree2 Disagree1

Why are they horrible people and wwhats the Rangers board got to do with it ffs?
jmgers {Ed007's Note - If you want to know why Billy Davies is a horrible, nasty individual, ask Tommy Sheridan or his wife. I'm not surprised you like either Redknapp, just a pity Craig Whyte didn't have a bank account in his dog's name, he might have got away with killing Rangers.
Devious, sneaky, back-stabbing, horrible, cheating, tax-dodging barstewards seems the norm for The Rangers/Sevco board.
Oh and Billy Davies done everything he could to get Craig Whyte to sack The Slug so he could get his dream job of managing Rangers, looks like that will never happen now, there's no Rangers left.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Well just about sums them up sir .Saves me the bother . TTTS

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed007 well said! But these are the type of people the rancid supporters love! Back stabbing kaniving low lifes! Jmgers knows the type well and worships them all too!

Agree1 Disagree0

Saw big Kelvin on Buchannan Street about 2 hours ago.

Ed or any one are u hearing anything? At this time it's looks like Doyle or nothing! I'd rather nothing tbh but bit disappointed with the lack of action when Lenny says 2 by Thursday and there's no signs of 1! Unless there's something happening under the radar?

Believable9 Unbelievable5

Doyle is a very good player, but the only problem is he plays the same type of game as the Greek, where as Hooper fed off him, Stokes isn't the long term answer he gets to many injuries, I think Watt should get more games, but Celtic also need to buy a proven goal scorer like Austin or similar.

Agree0 Disagree2

I will be extremely disappointed if we fail to sign a quality 25/30 goal striker tonight; as the board will have shafted us yet again.
How can we sell arguably our 2 best assets without replacing them during a CL qualifying campaign where we are still struggling to find our feet and have a string of injuries.
The breaking story about the Green Brigade and Uefa is a very convenient distraction.
Why are Celtic selling players so early and putting finances before the progress and calibre of the team on the park?

when porto and all these teams lose a striker there's always one lined up 2 take his place, why can't we be like that

Agree0 Disagree0

If Doyle is as good as we can get certain people have to start answering some big questions given the approx £30 million we have just banked

Agree0 Disagree0

Why worry we got two big game players that any team would fear, Georgios Samaras.Amido Baldé, then we have Anthony Stokes good goal getter in SPL but we also have a young Scottish LEGEND in Tony Watt.
We got them here let's see what they can do and use the money to keep more of our lads here.
Come on give them there chance to shine.

Agree0 Disagree0

Possibly better placed guys/gals than me but from what I've heard it'll be as you were for the Elfsborg tie.
Bit of a risk IMO.

Bigbadjohn {Ed007's Note - We can still sign and register one player up to 24 hours before kick-off.}

Agree0 Disagree0

How would any team fear balde? Not saying that he won't come good but nothing to fear as of yet our new cb is injured we need to replace Garry ASAP we just sold our best two players IMO so wtf now? probably 15m by the time we pay other clubs there share? Where's the next un heard of replacements that suits me?

Agree0 Disagree0

I could say more but ill hold off. To the person that mentioned samaras and stokes but put Balde as a big game player already, gon run up ma f@kin ribs, you've bypassed the whole problem.

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

If a player has it then your half way there, you play the game that is best for them to shine/show there best, just as it was for VW

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed. Didn't know that, cheers for the info, maybe not too bad then but we do need someone in before the tie, I'm confident in our team but feels weird counting on sammi. lol

Bigbadjohn {Ed007's Note - I was delighted we brought a couple of players in early in the window and felt it was a good start considering the last few windows f&*k ups. I am just holding out, hoping it is players of a quality that will improve our team and it isn't a case of PL dragging his heels again.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Been a celtic fan all my life but how many times have you heard the words players coming in and nothing happens. Neil hopefully someone in by 11.00 o'clock deadline time not heard much was it just to appease us all or what hope not after selling 2 of our best players understand looking to secure our future but you need to spend to go forward surely.

Agree0 Disagree0

We could have had Russell, Mackay-Steven in and Shane Long and still had plenty of cash left over, its time the excuses stopped

Agree1 Disagree0

We could have had Russell, Mackay-Steven in and Shane Long and still had plenty of cash left over, its time the excuses stopped

Agree2 Disagree0

A huge amount of negativity in this thread. All of which will be justified if we lose to elfsborg. Personally I'd be surprised if we have let Gary hooper (thanks man) go without having a replacement lined up. I also doubt PL would risk Losing to elfsborg for the sake of bringing one in in time for Wednesday. He has a few days but he also has until sept 2nd till the window closes. His job is a difficult one, all the clubs he deals with now will think, like many on here do, that he has buckets of cash to spend, he doesn't! As ed007 constantly tells people the VW/GH money will come over the next 3 or 4 years. It's not sitting in a bank waiting to be spent. one season without CL and a big hole will be blown in it. The CL money from last season isn't sitting there either. So many posters only mention income numbers! Big bonuses were paid to the squad during last years run, players have been signed already and the club has run through its non income period and will hopefully still be debt free. I pay my ST in instalments like many. Most of that cash has still to be collected. There will be cash to spend but not the huge pot of gold some seem to think there is. He has to agree fees with other clubs who think he has a pot of gold, he has to satisfy the wage demands of players within our cap, ( I think we should raise that a bit for the record) he has to make the big picture balance out beyond this season and almost see into the future, and he has to bring in players who are better or as good as what we have within those constraints. Stick a brush up the guys arse and he might sweep the floor while he does all that. And the players we go for have to want to come! I think we can beat elfsborg with what we have and deal with what comes after once we do. Hopefully the squad will have a much more positive outlook than this thread does .

Agree3 Disagree1

I found that last post (the nameless one that was sticking up for Peter Lawwell) a little patronising. The fans know the score thankyou! I've been a shareholder since Fergus bought the club, and wasn't even remotely interested in making any money/profit, technically I just wrote the money off! All we want is a happy medium-I said on a recent post that we know that we have to be careful/prudent, but we also have to be ambitious. Well we don't have to be, but we can't have it both ways-we can't on the one hand be told how huge a club we are etc etc, but then not follow that through. Basically we just want the guys in suits to walk in our shoes, try and appreciate how much we give to the club, and try and go that little bit further if possible. The bottom line is if we aren't going to buy players now then I'm terrified about the future! Cheers, Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

We have just lost our 2 best players? C'mon guys let's be honest the 2 guy's that left did so because they no longer wanted to be at Celtic. We will have a list of players that the club will be looking at and who knows maybe already talking to them, I trust NL and PL to get the right players in, let's face it we don't get the tv money they get down south, so we need to get it in other ways which I think the last few years we have done well, Ki big vic hooper, it's the way forward until something happens with a euro league or whatever gets dreamed up next. We only have to look across the city at the tribute act to see where you can end up. Try getting your erses to the games again instead of some on here that only seem to be negative. Falling attendances means a fall in revenue which in turn means CL monies and transfer fees get swallowed up more with the day to day running of the club. I for one think the way we conduct our business is spot on, we would all like to get some big money players in but it just ain't going to happen in the current climate. Get behind the team get to games. maccabhoy

Jamie Mackie has handed in a transfer request at QPR, are celtic interested? Heard his name mention a few days ago, if it was between him and Doyle a would probably choose Mackie any thoughts on him? PK1888

Believable7 Unbelievable10

I would choose Doyle, but both of them aren't what we should be aiming for and accepting. Both would do well in SPFL, that's yer lot. Mackie trying to push through a move to forest.

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny, I was just wondering if i'd prefer to drown or burn to death. I agree with Big John Hartson, Doyle. Past his best days I think but he's actually not that bad at international level. Again though, he's hardly the prolific finisher we require. In Samaras, Stokes, Watt and from what I've seen Balde, we have decent enough forwards to play around a striker, but now we lack that finisher. Part of me thinks that Lennons comments were just to push ticket book sales. Or maybe we just haven't stumped up the cash with targets as per. One way or another there are now two large voids need filling, plus the general squad improvement we would have hoped for anyway.

Agree2 Disagree0

Going to Forest, on TV site, unless the wages don't concur, Celtic step in.

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted days ago about mackie, celtic made an enquiry about him and this was involved in the Hooper deal. Since hooper went to Norwich, mackie deal cooled off. As far as I know know celtic are still interested I think the fee is £1million. I don't want to name the source but I wouldn't be surprised it a deal was struck.

Andre Moritz was one of the stars of Crystal Palace's promotion campaign last season, but couldn't agree a new deal at Selhurst Park and is available on a free transfer. Sly sources understand he's been offered a trial at Celtic. is a Brazilian attacking midfielder.27 appearances and 5 goals last year to help Palaces promotion.
gbhoy {Ed007's Note - He has not been offered a trial at CFC, that's just blatant lies. I suspect he will still sign for Bolton once they can agree on wages, which has been a stumbling block so far.}

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Personally I wouldn't go for him I read last year he was on trial at rangers and refusred to play in a bounce match terrible attitude

Going to be an announcement made over the coming days that Emilio Izaguirre and Joe Ledley have both extended their contracts by two years. Izaguirre's new contract will now run until 2017 and Ledley's to 2016.

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Now that is great news, both are coming to there best now.

Agree1 Disagree0

That would be superb :)

Agree0 Disagree0

There are 2 players with real ambition. Julieghirl

Agree0 Disagree1

Obviously delighted and I hope Mathews, Commons and Samaras are next.
But having let 2 of our best players leave so it is the least I would have expected.
Hope this is not a 'sweetener' instead of bringing in the class striker and creative midfield player we crave.

Jungle Jim

Agree1 Disagree0

Izzie signing isn't that great news he's a week link in the team. We need a new LB not signing him up he's not been the same since his injury.

Agree1 Disagree1

Izzy weak link? He's an assist master, and a real asset.

Agree2 Disagree0

Great news on diamond joe but izzy is being handed a contract after being probably our worse first team performer last season.

Gerrybhoy

Agree0 Disagree2

Far too harsh on Izzy. Player of the year first season. Second season injured early on and then too much pressure on him getting back to how he was. Third season, looked quality so far, really wants to show what he's capable of. Proper old fashioned full back. Gets up and down well with good delivery. Delighted with this news. Especially super Joe too. Now there's a quality (well under-rated) player who knows and appreciates what a good place he's at. Sign him up for life.

Agree2 Disagree0

Assist master. How many assists can you name. Versus the amounts of diagonal balls which catch him out or slack passes and risky play at back.

Ed what do you think of Bebe and macheda both free agents from man utd, look at the Diof boy Manchester United let to of and he done amazing in Germany last season, surely worth a punt rather than Doyle? {Ed007's Note - I wouldn't want either Bebe or Macheda anywhere near Celtic.}

Believable5 Unbelievable6

Correct, BeBe is a DoDo, Fergy said he was his worst buy, bought him from watching a video, £18m he cost Man U. the young Italian could be another story, but he'll go back to Italy or Spain

Agree0 Disagree0

Doyle is the dodo mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Bebe didn't cost united 18M. Ed what's your reason for the Macheda snub?(i'd take him)', ., .kbarry {Ed007's Note - I've never rated him. He is not a free agent and Stuggart have first option to sign him anyway.}

Hi ed, heard anything about a Tunisian from Germany? Apparently John Collins mentioned he will be signed today. Maybe Sami Allagui?

MikeyBhoy

You are correct that it was a Tunisian player but, Collins said plaing in France and not Germany {Ed007's Note - Saber Khelifa.}

Ed do you think Lennon's aim of signing someone today will be achieved? Some media outlets are suggesting that we will rush through a deal for Kevin Doyle

LM67 {Ed007's Note - I think there will be a signing, I'm praying it's not Doyle.}

Believable6 Unbelievable7

There is a rumour doing the rounds that we are after Jelavic! surely nonsense?

Agree1 Disagree0

Same here ed. Hardly the calibre of ayer we should be getting given the money that has came in

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take Jelavic all day long

DAMO1888

Agree2 Disagree0

Neil Lennon said we were hoping for 2 signings today - none would be something of a let down. Jean-Pierre

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever it is must currently be in Glasgow for talks and a medical etc. Either very well hidden from the media or nothing is happening today

LM67

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, What is your problem with Doyle? I haven't seen him that often but he looked ok, obviously you have seen him play a few times and don't think he is Celtic class? {Ed007's Note - My problem is he is muck and not good enough to play for us.}

Agree1 Disagree1

"muck. Very harsh, let's hope he doesn't sign and be one of our star players Ed, ., .kbarry {Ed007's Note - Let's leave it at the 'let's hope he doesn't sign' part...

Looks like hooper is off to Norwich, having a medical later and has agreed personal terms, fee believed to be £5.5m. I would just like to wish him well and hopes he doesn't regret the move.

Briggs

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Same, but we have a much better player than GH he is Amido Baldé he will score more goals than GH,

Agree2 Disagree3

We'll see about that

Danjam

Agree0 Disagree0

He'll regret it ok, no European football, if he thinks playing for Norwich will get him to Brazil he's living on cloud 9

Agree0 Disagree0

How many players have left Scotland to join a champions league team in England he does well for Norwich he will get a bigger team

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Gary that's the last you will see of any silverware.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think we've had the best out of hooper. £5.5 m a good bit of business.

A newspaper saying we are taking Andre Moritz on trial, he's free after leaving Crystal Palace. mark

Believable5 Unbelievable8

He was on trial at Rangers a few years ago. Wasnt good enough for them then, don't think he'd be good enough for us now

Samson

Agree0 Disagree0

He rejected them for Crystal Palace, At least get the story right mate. Skilful player but maybe not made for the style of the game in the uk. Cheap option again for Celtic if they sign him when Mackey-Stevens could be bought.

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic accept £6m package with Norwich for Hooper. Reports suggest he'd prefer to go there and play in the EPL straight away than take a chance on QPR getting promoted.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Grab it, don't want someone at Celtic whose head is up his arse about escaping down to the greed factory down the road.

Agree0 Disagree1

It's not greed its ambition can't go any further in a tin pot league he had done well in Scotland he can walk away holding his head up high get over it .

I totally agree with you, I'd be happy with stokes, amido, Doyle and rudnevs going in to Europe. Still need another midfielder tho.! DundeeMichael
