Celtic first-team coach Alan Thompson is not expecting the club to bring in any new faces before the transfer window closes.

It had been thought The Bhoys could step up their search for defensive reinforcements following Daniel Majstorovic's injury.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon had been mulling over the possibility of bringing in Kelvin Wilson sooner and Thompson does not believe anything will be done before Wednesday's clash with high-flying Hearts.

The Celtic coach doubts whether the club will be in a position to unveil additions to the Parkhead squad before the January transfer window closes on Monday.

"I would think in terms of anyone coming in before the game, it is highly unlikely, " explained Thompson.

"There are a number of things we are looking at between now and next Monday so we will just have to see what comes from that but at present it is looking like we will have to go with what we have.

"It's Forest's prerogative, he is their player although he has signed a pre-contract. We would like to get him in but as I said, there is nothing moving at present.

"You can understand their situation, he is their players and they will probably want to keep him until the summer."Source sky sports

Celtic could make a 250k move for John Sutton, John is the brother of Celtic legend Chris Sutton he would be a perfect signing for us I reckon he would score as much goals as Sutton but obv wouldn't be a better player as Chris was playing in a better standard of league at the time.

Although I get what ur saying with him being an ex bolton player it's an awful lot of travel to do just purely for pleasure with such a big week ahead! Although I don't think he would be looking at Davies perhaps Johan Elmander, he's only got 6 months left on his deal and has the sweedish connection which seems to help!
