Hi Ed, how are you doing?
There's a report suggesting Ryan Christie's contract runs out in December meaning he'd be free to talk to clubs in the Summer, do you know if this is correct?

{Ed007's Note - Contracts need to finish at the end of a season (apart from short-term deals), I think the Daily Fail are taking it from the point when he signed the extension which was midseason.}

Fair do's Ed, that makes sense 👍. HH.

He's just another one of the current squad who I would not miss a jot. Not only because of his many woeful performances (unlike his International games) , but he has never had a half-decent game against Sevco - even when we were dominant. I would be very disappointed if the new manager convinced him, (or any of the other squad members who have let the club and themselves down so badly) , to stay at Celtic. When you count the loans, the past-it's, the not-good-enough and the players who 'downed tools'; I am hoping for a large player turnover.

There's a possibility that Christie's poor performances are related to the overall unhappiness within the squad. Yes, he should be professional enough to step up regardless of the lack of harmony within the first team, and yes he's being paid to do it etc. etc. but there should be no doubt that an unhappy environment will affect all players to some degree.
It's a fact of life and a reality in every workplace that one or two (or more) unhappy employees in a group that relies on unity will definitely have a negative impact on some others as well. HH.

Pedro71 I hope he runs out along with the contract.

Christie is far too valuable an asset to Celtic to let him run his contract down.

Personally speaking I think he is a great player when he is on form. Has tons of energy, good technique and a good goal threat.

That being said I do think he will move on in the summer and I am sure we will get a decent fee for him when he does.

We should be working hard to get him to sign a contract extension. He is a great player who has had a bad season along with the rest of the team while being predominantly played out of position. he's still one of our most dangerous attackers.

I would try everything to keep him on his day he is a too quality player give him and Ajer 30 to 40 grand a week and a bonus build the team around them Ajer in holding midfield with Christie’s movement and running oofft.

The only players you will see on that kind of money have to be Larssonesque and while I rate both Christie and Ajer, I don't think either are deserving of that kind of salary in Scotland.

Seems by the latest report that Howe is waiting on the Bournemouth season to finish as he wants to take his own guys, seems plausible we might have a wait because they're doing well at the minute play offs at least.

This could be a bit of a stretch. Who could he be waiting for? Hughes? His assistant at Bournemouth Tindall is a coach at Shef Utd now.

Surely if its Hughes, a similar statement to Dom Mckays could be made. Hughes has agreed to replace Hammond and will join up on X date.

My opinion is that nothing is in place, we are not waiting on his Bournemouth contract to run down as rumoured. We are being custard pied by anyone we approach and we may end up with Jack Ross or John Kennedy.

Yeah don’t want to be hanging about waiting on how Bournemouth fair in play offs affecting our own plans it’s not as if it’s their manager we want.
What happens if they go up, does that mean we get pied and he stays for BPL?

This whole scenario is a bit 'chicken and egg'.

(1) are we waiting on Howe and staff in order to fit in with his time frame?

OR

(2) do we have our own time frame in place and are looking for the right manager to appoint to ensure we can get the best players in ahead of next season?

I wish I knew the answer and just hope the appointments are enough to get the fans excited.

We need a manager with Celtic as his main priority and passion; and although we will never see another Jock -'Celtic will be my last love' - Stein, we need someone to shake our club by the roots, the way MON did in 2000 or at least to the levels we reached under the now, Leicester City manager in his first two seasons.

My concern if we are waiting on Howe is this, if it is only a gentleman's agreement and nothing is signed what happens if he changes his mind at the last minute, where does that leave us.

OAB2 - I hope the boards ambition and vision come close to matching the fans expectations after this debacle of a season.
