Dan Petrescu has just left his managerial job from a club in Turkey after only 45 days in charge.
I thought he was coming to Celtic in November when he left the Cluj job.
But it turned out to be just a coincidence.

I thought that myself Buzz at the time. A results driven business but punted after 45 days is a bit extreme. What was his stats with them Buzz?

He doesn't stay long at teams, wiki shows it as 16clubs in 18years!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 20:12:22
Pud
His results this year are average for a club sitting a couple of places above relegation.
He had 2 wins,3 draws and 3 defeats.
As Wyllie mentioned above, he doesn’t stay long at clubs and he’s possibly had a disagreement with the Turks.

How about Gerardo Seoane from Young boys. He is going to win a 3rd title in a row with them.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 21:33:04
Would be a hard sell to get him to leave young boys to come to Scotland.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 22:18:59
I’d take him in a heartbeat.

24 Feb 2021 23:16:42
guys we will be looking at an unemployed no compensation manager. if you think anything else you are deluded.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 08:16:29
I was looking at the unemployed list of managers yesterday and one I thought looked attractive was the guy Laga who used to manage Benfica, good age at 44 and won a couple of trophies as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 08:00:02
Dan Petrescu wants the Celtic job full time.
How typical would it be for Dan to get the job,
When he was available in November and the board done nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 10:05:34
Buzz I definitely think he would be a decent appointment, I think we would definitely be much more organised for sure. I also think it is a more realistic appointment compared to some of the names mentioned.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 10:24:33
I think you would need to look at his record as a manager, he doesn't seem to last in any job very long, starts some very well, and then fades away in the second season, or sooner, may be he starts managing full of enthusiasm, and energy, and the new manager syndrome gives the players a lift, but once the results start going wrong and the honeymoon period is over, he leaves.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 11:28:12
His record is maybe that aindoh yes but he has also won 4 titles and a cup in Romania, A title in Russia and the cup in China. So he has the experience of knowing what it takes to win trophies which is a damn sight more than most of the names mentioned by some people here.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 11:40:39
And you can add the fact that recently as manager of Cluj they were definitely punching well above their weight getting some very decent results in Europe to his CV.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 13:53:57
I have a formula. Think of all the managers you woukd love to see here and the same amount of those ones you wouldn't wnat anywhere near us. Then, take away all the ones you would want and what you are left with subdivide that again into the Please God no, and are you taking the urine? It will almost certainly be in one of those groups.

Although, with Lawell leaving we might realise quality costs.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 18:43:39
5 man shortlist for vacant manager post is Paul lambert, Malky mckay, Roy keane and Jack ross and steve clarke. Steve clarke first choice but unlikely to leave scotland until after euros. Hearing from a reliable source that dom mckay has already asked for malky mckay if steve clarke turns it down.

Amazeballs Hoops, was looking forward to your update on the manager situation.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 19:00:02
Good God will this club never learn I don't want any of them. A better list would be Benitez, Blanc, Favre, Martinez and Cocu.
I have awaken every morning for the last 4 months waiting for this mornings news now we need to show that we areprepared to compete at the highest levels of european football.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 19:36:07
In all honesty if that is a genuine shortlist drawn up by te board, then they can expect plenty more protests calling for them to go and I will gladly support it.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 19:36:58
Hoops88 but you said it was Silvinho, you talk rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

how long has hoops been bamming people up on here. yet people still bite lol. c'mon bhoys. really?

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 21:21:05
Happytim I clearly stated a few weeka back sylvinho was no longer in the running and malky mckay was the preference. You no been listening to hoops88.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 23:10:19
I’m glad those five were on hoops88 list because I’d hate any of them to get the job and nothing he says comes true.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 23:27:24
Oh Jesus he's back! I thought Hoops was only let out during a transfer window.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 12:18:19
Hoops88 are you on the board and putting out the feelers for Clarke. Link us to a host of bad managers and hope we appreciate the best of a bad bunch! We can do better than Clarke, we aren't a counter attacking team.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2021 15:01:44
Clarke would organise us, but his football is rotten. His poor results with Scotland are masked by two penalty shoot out wins in the NL that finally got us to a tournament.
Did badly in the actual qualifiers.

24 Feb 2021 11:34:37
Ed or anybody heard what I think but not sure a podcast its Scottish guys and the guy talking says that martjnez and malorey are taking over think it came from young Robertson who told a boy from Partick.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Feb 2021 12:02:34
Martinez would likely walk into a high profile job when he leaves Belgium. This chat is only coming about due to the Maloney link.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And the fact Martinez's wife is Scottish adds fuel to the flames.}

24 Feb 2021 12:03:55
Now that is an appointment I would be happy with.

24 Feb 2021 12:59:48
Agree Bubs there's literally zero chance he'll be next Celtic manager.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 13:08:28
I didn't see him house hunting in Bothwell but I did spot him and Maloney coming out of the Real McCoy half cut and heading along London Rd towards the association.

24 Feb 2021 13:17:50
naw pedro he was seen in the thrashbush area in airdrie.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 14:24:30
Martinez already owns a house in Scotland.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 15:27:20
I’m a taxi driver and I just picked up Martinez from the airport and took him to view a flat in Tollcross. Said he was pleased they had an Aldi.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 16:58:24
Martinez better get the job I stuck a tenner on him to be next Celtic manager, 3/ 1 with paddy Power lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 17:31:22
Well I don't think that we will ever know what made lennon resign, as he still hasn't told us what fat Sally said to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 11:24:45
The club have said that Kennedy will take interim charge so in theory a new manager could be appointed at any time. Could be today, tomorrow or during the summer. HH.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Feb 2021 07:57:01
So if Kennedy can get a tune out the players do you think he'll get the job? I really hope not as we need a proper manager in. Good luck to neil Lennon didn't end well but it was for the lack of trying. A break from the job will do the mans health world of good.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

24 Feb 2021 08:42:40
Kennedy should be away at the end of the season along with Strachan.
If NL was the cheap option after BR, what does that make JK?
Then again he's been hanging about for 20 years so nothing would surprise me,

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 08:45:49
The club, team and support need a much bigger and more experienced manager than Kennedy. IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 08:48:38
He's just as much to blame as Lennon he should also be away. with mcintyre McManus n O'Dea in charge untill the end of the season.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 09:52:55
No chance he gets the job, the club need to sell season tickets and I don't think a lot of supporters will accept Kennedy.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 11:41:12
Gar mate mozart couldn't get a tune out of that team at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 11:56:20
Robroy, that's what a lot of people said about the team when Ronnie left and see what Rodgers did.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 12:05:11
Exactly Jon. We don't need someone with massive pulling power just a great coach who can pull standards up and improve what is there. Get Edouard, Ajer and Christie on another year and get key players back on form and we'll challenge again.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 12:07:15
Kennedy is obviously a respected coach as Rodgers tried to take him to Leicester and he is held in high regard at Celtic.

However, he is unproven as a manager and I personally do not want him to cut his teeth at Celtic.

Would have no problem with him leaving to manage another club, proving he has what it takes and then returning to us at a later day.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 12:21:59
Kennedy is our main coach and we are pish.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 12:51:12
Kennedy must have had an input to the performance and structure on the pitch or what was he there for to make up the numbers on the bench? OMO he is every bit to blame for this season as Lennon has I would be surprised if he was any where near the first team next season far more near the club at all.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 15:48:13
Maybe BR allowed him to coach and maybe NL didn't.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 17:03:57
Royjac, I’m sure I read recently lennon saying he left a lot of the coaching to the staff .

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 17:33:06
Kennedy has been well looked after by the club after his horror injury, but enough is enough he should be going with lennon imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 20:34:06
Maybe Rodgers didn't let him coach, and Lennon did.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 07:49:47
Its official on celtic website. Lennon has resigned. Thanks for the service neil but it was well overdue.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

24 Feb 2021 17:36:54
Why are you thanking him he has the remainder of a great side that won trebles and he broke it and lost the dressing room. We should have won the league this year but lennons tactics and unwillingness to change screwed us. When we played two cfs we won 5 games in a row then he changes it and we lose how many times has he done that this season. We never had a settled team on the park. Thank god he is away I will sleep easier tonight that's for sure, but we need the club to step up and appoint a quality manager and backroom staff.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 18:47:09
Agree with you Corey that NL's departure was overdue but better late than never. I believe he finally realized that he wasn't the man to turn things around. I am glad he resigned rather than being sacked as I hate the way things are going, particularly in football with managers not really being given a chance and getting sacked within monthesof their appointment. I know this is not the case here but I am glad he chose to resign.
Agree also that he should be thanked for his services to Celtic both as a player and a manager he can hold his head up. Both appointments as manager came at difficult moments with the departures of Mowbray and Rogers and I don't think he did too bed until things unravelled this season.
This is a strange season without fans etc and the effects can be seen around europe with various teams one would expect to be winning easily being upstaged such as Liverpool but also Juve who are going for 10 in a row this year (and are still in a position to do it) are 8 points behind Inter.
I just hope Celtic don't rush an appointment and get the right man for the job as he will have to do some rebuilding and get the players who want to stay on board and also win over the celtic fans who are not the easiest to please.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Feb 2021 23:21:10
Reports are suggesting Neil Lennon will leave his position as Celtic manager tomorrow.
It looks like John Kennedy will take over until the end of the season.
The closer it was getting to them having the chance to win the league at Celtic Park or the chance of a guard of honour, the bigger the chance Lennon wouldn’t be there to witness it.

I said months ago like others that lennie should go before fans turn on him, this season has been a crap show from start to finish. Now he’s gone I hope we all get back to the inescapable fact that he’s been a major part of our club for the last twenty years. He was majorly culpable for this season, but he wasn’t the only one by a long shot. The board and the players need to hang their heads as well.
This season is beyond us now, the main objective short term is to beat them in a couple of weeks.

Hopefully longer term, McKay is doing his due diligence and making moves to get the right people in place to move us forward in the way we all want. Now lawell is out as well, the cheapest person isn’t the best, or the one who is easily pliable for the board. We need a new team to invigorate the fans, yes 10 is gone but we will turn up in our droves to buy season tickets and merchandise again next season if we are given hope of a brighter dawn. I wonder how much input the new CEO had in this decision?

We as fans gave the club a lot this year, for basically nothing, and they deserve to have a club we can be proud of. We constantly hear about us being a big club, it’s time to show it now. For the last few seasons it’s been slowly getting worse and it seems only fans could see it, but we have a chance now to put our foot down again. That other mob will be gloating pretty soon ( king already is) so hopefully it will make Desmond take notice and we will step up to the plate again.

That's it confirmed.

The rumour mill can now go into overdrive but I still think DD knows who he wants and will have approached them already.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2021 09:11:23
Pedro, have you not heard that DD is going too? Why would he be involved in appointing a new manager when he isn't going to be here to work with him?
On another note, Elvis is dead too. And so is George Michael. Hope that doesn't come as too much of a shock to you. HH.

24 Feb 2021 10:17:59
@bestybhoy, I think you'll find its P. L. who is going, not D. D.

I said after the county game Kennedy for the remainder of the season. Spot on BB I thought the same this morning, this season couldn't have gone worse and that'll be the final kick in the baws to the fans and Lennons bolted before that possiblity becomes a reality.
