Anthony Stokes is attracting interest from Premiership clubs Reading and Norwich. Celtic are quoted as wanting £4m for the Irishman.

Believable12 Unbelievable18

Is that us going to sell again without buying/ im disillusioned as I struggled to by my season ticket this year.

Agree1 Disagree0

Id take there hand of for 4 million for him. Bring in russell whos better.

Agree3 Disagree0

Totally daft to let him go. Return for goals is brilliant
Paulo

Agree0 Disagree1

Yet again you wanted rfc to go . stokes is overrated kris boyd like . agree with other poster . bring in russell.

Agree1 Disagree0

Would be very surprised to get 4 million for him. Agree with others though, I would also be happy to replace him with Johnny Russell if possible.

Agree1 Disagree0

Id take 2m for him. i dont rate him at all. i agree i like russell but if were gettin 4m for him why not get rhodes. ill believe it when i see it tho

celticthomas

Agree2 Disagree1

If offered 4m for Stokes we would have to take it, too good a deal. Who is saying we wont be buying players in? Keep the Faith. Hbhoy.

just wish all the moaners on this site would get a grip, we will get players onboard before the transfer window closes, yes the board are waiting to see if we qaulify for the group stages, who wouldnt , but we will qualify and we will sign players , no doubt in my mind at all............

Believable14 Unbelievable9

I know that we will get players in on the deadline day. It's just the quality of players that worry me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't fault the quality we have brought since NL took over. Why doubt it now? Hbhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why dont u get a grip. at least the moners on here leave a name. once again our tight board are letting the manager and supporters down. in truth it's about time the board get a grip! we have just sold ki for 6m+ and have one hand on the 15m. any board with a bit of ambition would would of least bought a good cb like ciani, it's obbious for everyone to see that we are in desperate need for cb. i also do beleive they will bring someome in at lastminute.com but have u forgotten what happens when we buy on the last day??..............we waste money on players like bangura! .

BarryBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

We are going to bring in players and the reason we are waiting is so once we are guaranteed cl football we will sign quality a bit of patience is required we will probz sign 3-4 and then you all will be singing the praises the type of players we want in probably want cl football and the job is only half done.

Sos bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not as though they have no idea who to sign if we get through. They will have made a number of enquiries and will have a shortlist of 5/6 players to pursue. John Park and co have had the whole summer to look at players and I'm sure we will have a number of options lined up, CL or not

Danjam

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic wont spend big on 3/4 players. More likely 1 big name n a couple fringe. Pretty sure one of those japanese lads will be brought in, cover the drop in merchandise sales in asia with ki leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

Since lennon took over celtic have spent 15 million ...players sold have brought in around 26 million nearly double what was spent with add ons so dont kid yourself this year will be any different or would have been even if sevco where still around ... and out of the 15 million nl spent 7.1 million went on Juarez Bangura and Murphy three disasters half his budget

As a fan I feel that our opinions are totally ignored by the men in the
boardroom. Im sure there are plenty of fans who are disgusted that we
have handed Ki on a plate to the mighty Swansea. This second rate
team have money coming out of their ears and should have been forced to
pay the true value of Ki. There are other players we should have off
loaded before him GH

Believable14 Unbelievable8

I'm over the moon 6m for Ki. Didn't really rate the boy to be honest. Never really new what his role was in the midfield. I'm gutted we are only spending a few million on new players. But tbh v happy with 6m Ian L

Agree0 Disagree1

Totally 100% agree with you. We should have demanded at least 8m for him. Swansea got 15 from Liverpool for Joe Allen so why should Ki (who is better than Allen) go for less? I do agree that we should have just sold some of our fringe players first as well. The likes of Murphy etc. should be out the door. I also think that Stokes should be sold as he has proved so far this season that he his performances are far too inconsistent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why don"t you call the Swansea chairman and ask him to take Daryl Murphy instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

If and when wanyama is on his way to the English premiership. You are talking 8-10million. Ki is not in the same league as wanyama. That's why Ki had been sold. Have we missed him since the start of the season? Doesn't look like it. Best of luck to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the total package for Ki is a good deal . Id be surprised if we got much more for any player in our team . We had better get used to selling a player a season and get behind PL and Lenny . This is a great time to be a Celtic supporter , to bring a player in for 2.5 and sell for a full package of 7.5 + a sell on fee 2 yrs later is good business .
CelticMatt

Agree1 Disagree0

CELTIC MATT, i agree mate all the way

Agree0 Disagree1

I think the total deal was 6.5m plus add on's bringing the deal to 8m depending on appearances. Plus a good sell on clause. Great business by Celtic. OP wil we miss him??? Hbhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get a grip everyone time we realized the amounts of money we are talking about. Swansea are being sensible and trying to live within their means as we are. I have no doubt several English teams will have the same experience as rangers and opportunity might present itself... We can but hope. Meanwhile content ourselves for the moment all will be revealed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hboy We might miss him now with Ledley and Kayal both injured. GH

Agree0 Disagree0

You mean Swansea are living within their
means at our expense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not at our expense... fair price he's not bloody Nakata do you think swansea dont know hes a fringe player?? Good deal sure he'll do well and sell on fee could be heafty depending on that! Whoever said is better than Allen is off thier head!

Agree0 Disagree0

True question here, what has wanyama dome to be rated at between 8-10 million? played in the sphell for a seaon won the scottish cup and played 6 europa games, scottish top league is rated on par with league 1 in england as we all know so can you really see them splashing the cash for wanyama, a remember reading he was better than alex song lol whos played at the highest level for mostg of his career even tho still young get a grip wanyamas good not brilliant

If it turns out to be a Japanese reserve striker from Germany who has a worse scoring record than Sammy I can't wait!

The "Japanese reserve striker" is actually a young midfielder who scored 3 goals at the Olympics and would be a great signing IMAO.

Carlos Bocanegra,Alan Hutton,Joey Barton.

Ed have you heard the exact details of ki's transfer. Keep hearing rough figures. Hoping there's a decent sell on fee because I think he'll take the EPL by storm.

Daz the Hoopy {Ed007's Note - The deal agreed with Swansea for Ki is £6.3 million with £1.2 million of add-ons, dependant on appearances, and a 15% sell on clause.}

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Ed I think that is a cracking deal for our 5th choice central midfielder, just hope we are able to strengthen or we will be in for a hammering in Europe this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes hardly our fifth choice at the moment
Kayal(as usual) and Ledley are injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

Daily Fail quoting 5.5m. If so, it's a steal following his good turn-out in the Olympics. Personally, I would have given him a run in The CL (assuming we get through) and sold him in the January window to an EPL club looking to spend their way clear of the drop zone. I think we would have got a bit more in those circumstances and also had the use of him for an extra 6 months.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ki is the kind of player who would have excelled in the Champions League. We were foolish to let him go at this present moment. The injuries to the team could
jepordise our chances.

Yuki otsu is on the verge of joining celtic on loan, celtic are also preparing a bid of 2.5-3m for markus henriksen of rosenborg.
leaked rumours also say otsu japan team mate and vvv venlo ch maya yoshida will sign b4 the window closes for 2m.
no word on the latest of a target man but the most talked about rumour is marc janko of porto as he supposedly looks unsettled with the lack of opportunity due to jackson martinez arrival, charlie mulgrew will be partnered with a new cb for the cl group stage, playmaker is coming in and a striker (janko) 2.5m through cl money(15m) will sort neil lennons problems up top
wont be surprised if a cover for left back is concluded and maybe a cm also!
realistic targets guys!

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Im sick of hearing all these foreign names being mentioned. There are excellent young Scottish players who would enhance the team jk

Agree1 Disagree0

Load of nonsense. Celtic haven't qualified for the group stages of the cl. Would be silly to be complacent still got a job to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

These are prob two of the worst replys I've ever seen on this site. Jb

Agree0 Disagree0

This team need a quality experienced CB, you wont find that with young Scots players. Unless you can enlighten me! Hbhoy.

It would be nice to see janko at celtic i think the big man would rip the spl up!!

Saw NL on SLY saying it's unlikely we will sign anyone before the Champions League tie, but we have had 3 or 4 players in mind before the window closes.
We seem to be stalling on signings and it is starting to bother me, as if we do qualify for the CL Group stage, then the board may rest on their laurels.
The quality in the squad is great to have but the main deficiencies are there for all to see and therefore;
I would hope in reality we are moving a lot quicker to secure at least 3 players before we resort to last day panic buying. Obviously we need a CB and striker, but we have been picking up a few injuries in midfield and we are having the old left-back problems again - while Izzy struggles to find his game.

Jungle Jim

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Frazer Campbell from Sunderland on lone for a year, a wee present from Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont want wee presents. I want real long term signings. We pay enough into the club and should get something back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon didn't say any such thing. He said he will sign 2 or 3 before the window closes but won't be spending 7 or 8m like what is rumoured.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't like being called a liar; I typed the post while he was being interviewed on SLY and it was accurate. I later saw him on BBC/STV and he had changed a few details.
At the end of the day, I stick to my opinion.

Find it interesting that James Vaughan has signed for Huddersfield Town on loan. If you remember not so long ago, there were reports that we were interested in him but Norwich supporters questioned why they would want to loan him out as he is supposedly their "best striker" on his day. Does this mean that Jordan Rhodes is on the move? Could it mean that Celtic are prepared to table an offer? Will Jordan Rhodes be a Celtic player by the end of the window?

Believable6 Unbelievable9

So if all this is true, what would norwich get out the deal?

Agree0 Disagree0

Jordan Rhodes would be a great player for celtic but i don't think we can pull this one off with all the intrest from the Epl

The Japanese Fella doesn't look like a possibility, not yet anyway, but Lenny does say that he is looking at 3 or 4, which I like the sound of, he also mentions they may depend on whether we make the Champions League, sounds even better, should be a good calibre of player. C'mon Henrikson and Ciani.

Kayal and ledley out for a month
John88

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Personally I would sell Kayal in January if a good offer comes in, the guy is a decent player when on his game, but he is far far too injury prone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kayal should have been sold before Ki.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would agree. Kayal's a brilliant player but no good when he's injured which is every other week. Take anything over 5m.

Afternoon ED007 having a wee look at posts as Mrs T and girls out for a couple of hours, will not get on later so taking my chance now...
On Tuesday's game, good result and well done Commons and Sammy on their goals. But defence is still a BIG problem a better team than the swedes would have made us pay.
Thank goodness Forster was on top form. But poor defending and worse careless passing has been our bugbear away in europe and once again these faults surfaced. We NEED a dominant centre half and another big forward to help us. We have all heard all the arguments about being prudent but with KI's money and surely now, Champions League money
of £15m+ we have enough. I do not know size of our debt, but even
say it is £12m+ with group money we can easily service it all AND give Lennon say £6m for 2 new players, don't forget we also saved about £70k weekly in wages.
The Celtic fans will follow and support the club, but if the board pocket £20m and do not spend any of it, the fans will let them know. Lawwell bring in two players and Celtic will cope better in Champions League and may even qualify out of group bringing in more
money. hail hail Timalloy
PS our clan off to America early Saturday morning (honest POB I have air tickets here lol) so you will all get a break from my jokes for a month, will not be able to post over there, Mrs T is bigger than me... {Ed007's Note - Sorry it took so long to answer you Tim, I have been having some technical problems today. Have a great holiday mate, take care.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Lennon said he is not going to spend anywhere near 6-7m on 2 players. Completely pathetic I think. Board are just pocketing all the money for themselves.

If we are genuinely interested in this japanese lad, then to me it is for one reason and one reason only.... £££££. now that ki has left we have no place in the asian market so we feel the need to sign someone from asia to make money thru merchandise, which is fine by me. the lad has a poor goalscoring record but is young and looked useful at the olympics so is worth maybe taking on loan.

It is blatantly obvious though why we might be interested in him.

Afternoon n happy friday bhoys n ghals!

Is it just me who's getting agitated at the lack of movement and the lack of talk?

I was hoping we would've signed one player (experienced CB) early in the window n now we're 90 mins away from Champs League football I'd have liked to see another in, either a playmaker or targetman.

Also believe we need a LB, either as cover or to challenge Izzy as he's not looked as good since coming back from injury!

Thoughts?

james vaughan is on his way to huddersfield. Does that mean Jordan could be on his way out?

Believable5 Unbelievable7

Very interesting. Seems like it's only on loan but nevertheless very, very interesting. Not heard any media reports for ages though about us, or for that matter any team, being linked to Jordan Rhodes. If I could choose any one player for Celtic right now it would be him, but the longer it goes on, the more unlikely it seems.

According to 2 other sites, Celtic looking to sign yuki otsu on a yrs loan! Not sure how reliable the quotes are and who exactly made them? Unless he can play the same role lubo or naka played?.. Then really don't think he's any better than what we've got. Could just be another moneymaker in the Asian market!

Bigbadjohn

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Saw some footage of him on youtube looks highly impressive; would add a new dimension to the celtic team

Agree0 Disagree0

This would be a great signing for Celtic... It keeps the brand within Asia which is massive for us... the guy is only 22, there there is potentially to sell on to a donkey club down south!

Hope he comes.

Linnie88

Agree0 Disagree0

IV just read on the net that this guy Yuki otsu has only scored 7 goals from 2008 and for an attacking midfielder that's just not enough not what Celtic need

I think we could do with some more creative options in midfield.

Japan attacking midfielder Yuki Otsu is signing on a 1 year loan from broussia MG the deal expected to go through in the next 24 hours. Source: Broussia MG spokesmen "We've received an offer from Celtic and are in negotiatons," a source close to Otsu told Sponichi. "Once we settle on the terms the transfer should go through."

Believable8 Unbelievable4

Looks like a one for one go Ki and keeping our brand presence in Asia. If he does a shift and has a sell on mark up then good business.

James Vaughan is off to Huddersfield (no lose to us) but does that mean we can expect Jordan Rhodes to be on the move?? To us maybe??
Bee Bee

Believable8 Unbelievable6

Doubt at this stage he'll be moving anyway without a substantial cash sum upfront. Vaughan will be to partner Rhodes as Huddersfield are definitely short in attacking options

Agree0 Disagree0

Please please get this into your heads Celtic will not be buying Rhodes, as much as him and Hooper would make some partnership, money talks and bull**** walks and we won't be buying him.
