When Juarez leaves and (If) Ki is sold i think Celtic should put in a firm bid of £3m for Marcus Henriksen from Rosenburg and also sign McDonald Mariga from Inter Milan (On loan initially) allowing younger brother Victor Wanyama to play in central defence , McDonald Mariga is a big physical defensive midfield player , something we are lacking , and rated a better player than Victor , Henriksen is also a big powerful attacking midfield player with a good range of passing and an eye for goal , a bit of height and power would not be a bad thing .

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Is Mariga for sale?If so,could be ideal experience for Champ Lge.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly I think he would be well out with our budget, secondly I'm sure he has just done his cruciate in the past month or so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Big Victor will go on to be an even better player than his brother. Don't think I've seen anyone as composed on the pitch - for his age. Can play a number of positions.
We have plenty of defensive style midfielders, its the creative side we lack.
I agree on Henricksen but we couldn't afford Marigas wages.......kbt1978

Agree0 Disagree0

My thoughts as well JB, is he for sale. If so, and we could get him, he'd be a great signing. We need to sign players and build a team, not go for short term loan signings.

I'd imagine his wages at Inter are above what we can offer.

Henriksen also seems to be a class act. Only doubt is his age.

K-Dot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id much rather lenny spending 3-4m on a top class central defender for mulgrew and rogne to partner if lenny sticks with the 3-5-2 which seems to work a treat

Agree0 Disagree0

You have obviously not seen McDonald Mariga play for a while have yous? I follow Italian football every week and I'm telling yous he's not that good. Very average player actually. Why go for him and stop the progress of our own Big Vic

Agree0 Disagree0

We would get mariga on loan. Hesa been out on loan a few times

Agree0 Disagree0

Only thing would be Mcd's wages, but he would he take a hit to play with his brother?

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen to the poster who watches the Italian league. Also do we expect them to be big buddies just because they are brothers? I know many brothers who get along pretty woefully particularly when playing a sport together...or am I talking about myself again..:) Sopot Celt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys we dont need a defensive midfielder, we have Kayal and Wanyama who can both play there. We need a big powerful centre half and a striker a big powerful striker or at least a striker who is decent in the air- such as Jordan Rhodes.

Anyone know were I can find a newborn cfc strip? Already got a bby grow from superstore but want a full kit for my son larsson ( no bs )

Gemmell1967 {Ed007's Note - JB works in CFC retail mate, he will know.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Alright mate.Kits start at 3 months,they don't do smaller but i think that's a good thing if you consider how quick kids grow.Before you know it the kid will be fitting that size,my kid was onto that size at 1 month.Excellent name for your son mate.lol

Jungle Bhoy.

Thanks pal, funnily enough my fiance suggested it! Just seems destined. Larsson Gemmell, can here the chants already! Have you any links? And thanks ed

Gemmell1967 {Ed007's Note - No worries mate.}

Make sure as soon as he can walk you put a ball down in front of him.Have you seen the bodysuit that says "Mummy taught me ABC,Daddy taught me CFC"?Think that's ace.
What do you mean by links?Links to what?

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Links on the web? Couldn't see those on the superstore website, and I didn't get a catalogue this year cause I moved can you still order the catalogues free on the cfc website? Cheers

Gemmell1967

I'd get Larsson Gemmell on my top if he ends up playing for Celtic. lol.

K-Dot.

Agree0 Disagree0

The new kit for the size you are wanting is delayed until around 18th June that's why they won't have it on site yet.They stopped sending out the catalogues as the last i heard they were going to do an online catalogue,not heard anymore than that so i don't know for sure if that's still going ahead.

Ed now I'm really confused
Lennon: Hooper wants to stay
Hooper is happy here
We want Hooper to stay here
We have had talks with his agent
The talks went really well

Ed007: Hooper has asked to leave
He wants to move to EPL
This has been planned since jan
Wants more money than cfc offer

I'm no really confused! Which is it Ed?

Jack the bhoy {Ed007's Note - As I said last night, I can only show you the door. You're the one that has to walk through it. Hasn't NL been saying the same since last year? At no point in time have I ever said he wants more money than CFC were offering, I said it wasn't about money, it was more about his ambition to play in the EPL and for England.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

ED, if Lennon went to Hooper and laid out thier transfer plans say buying Rhodes and others showing how serious we are about CL to make a deep run, you think that would help with his thinking of staying and forget about the England squad? i would think it is insulting to Hooper to not even get a sniff at the squad where as other flops (ex:carrol) make it in with no thought. {Ed007's Note - I have no idea if it would make any difference. Why, should it? I don't think any CFC manager should need to explain or seek approval for his plans for the team with any player.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I must admit I am a Saints fan-but then you guys were on our case so often in January I make no apologies for that.

Don't know if Hooper will come our way. Adkins will only go so far to get the player and if he is not 110% committed to a move to Saints we will go for someone who is.

However, when a player wants to leave because of ambition he will go and I am afraid NL or your supporters will not stop that. Saints themselves have had experience of that with Arsenal signing up our players, and last seasons experience of that has been simply a player believing he can fulfil his personal ambition better if he moves on. This seems to be the case now with Hooper.

And when Hooper did get the ball he was smart with the ball by holding off defence and move to find a pass to an open player.....i find ppl dont notice that part of his game enough even when he is having an off game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whatever way u put it mate he was mince tonight. tired or dissinterested whatever it was. Mince. Watched him all season and he's had a few shockers buy works hard and breaks his neck to get into positions to score when he's having an off day. Not tonight. Think he was already on his holibags. Was a testimonial mind you so you can't possibly slate the guy for it.

Celtic fans turned Norwich green and white.....an utter credit to our club......what colour and noise they could bring to the premiership.....sadly probably not in my lifetime......what a shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed with most parts of all posts, Paddy should stay, Hooper did do some good things and to call him mince is way off the mark. KW is my biggest disappointment. I really backed this guy to the hilt early doors, as I had heard how highly regarded he was from good sources.I can only put his form down to lack of application and this is a terrible waste of talent and opportunity and is also shortchanging the fans and Club. He was pretty bad against Norwich and in fact was outshone by the 16 year old laddie in defence who's name I forget but hope to be reminded of often in the future. Sopot Celt.

ED007 on newcastle site, they are saying No Fee agreed for Forster, it
states Pardew turned down £2m offer has this fee been formally agreed by
both clubs? Timalloy {Ed007's Note - Yes Tim, the fee was set as part of the loan agreement and is only applicable to CFC. It doesn't matter if Tottenham bid £5 million, the fee to us is still £2 million. Plus if he goes to another team they need to pay CFC for their option on the player.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

ED, what kind of money can Celtic get if that were to happen? the 2 mill that was agreed? {Ed007's Note - It would just just be a percentage, at a guess, 200 - 500k, and that really is just a total guess. I might be miles out.}

If Gary Hooper does end up leaving I certainly wont blame him.

He's just had the season of his life scoring hatfulls of goals including against the likes of Udinese and wasnt even considered for the England squad when numpties like Carrol can get in having been crap all season.

Celtic's business model is to buy good young players and sell them on at a profit. I will be sad if Hoops leaves but it will have been an incredible bit of business if we get £6-9 million for a player who cost us two.

And for those who think selling clubs cant be successful just take a look at Porto.

Neil Lennon has said that he has opened talks with Gary Hooper's agent, with the intention of extending the striker's deal.

The English striker scored 29 goals in all competitions last season, including five in the last day of the season victory over Hearts.

Now his manager would like to tie the player to a longer deal to ward of interest from south of the border.

Lennon said: "We had a preliminary meeting with his agent last week and it was very cordial. It went very well and we made it clear that we want Gary to stay.

"Gary likes it here and he's happy here. He's had such a good season and he's such a good player that no doubt there'll be clubs in for him, but we'll try and resist all offers that come our way."

as a friend of gary hooper can i just state he has not asked to leave.
he has just asked to be among top earners at club.
big difference and only fair considering what he has done for your team .
if a club value a player at a big amount he should be rewarded with a salary to match that valuation .gary loves celtic fc

gary has not asked for anymore than what 2-3 of the players are already on.

londonbhoy

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I've got to agree mate he does deserve to be one of the top earners, however celtic have given him a far higher profile and a bigger stage to show his talent

Agree0 Disagree0

Id match him with our top earner.its too much of a gamble bringing someone else in at this stage.if we blow the money we spend on another striker who takes time to settle or doesnt at all and we dont get through the qualifiers then it will have been a huge mistake

Celtic will hold talks with Fraser Forster's agent in the next week in a bid to tie up the goalkeeper on a permanent contract.

The 24-year-old Englishman, who remains a Newcastle United player, has had two loan spells at Celtic after also spending time at Stockport County, Bristol Rovers and Norwich City.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon wants him to sign a long-term deal at the club.

And a fee has already been agreed between Celtic and Newcastle.

Forster has made 90 appearances in his two seasons at Celtic Park and helped the Glasgow outfit win the Scottish Premier League title this term.

Jungle Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - Let's see how it pans out JB, why did talks in January stop? It wasn't anything to do with finances, negotiations could have been ongoing but Hooper and his agent called off the talks.}

Rosenborg have confirmed Celtic's interest in teenage midfielder Markus Henriksen and have said that they expect the player to leave Norway this summer.

The highly-rated 19-year-old, who already has six international caps, is a signing target for several clubs including West Ham, Anderlecht and Hannover.

Celtic are also in the mix and Rosenborg managing director Hroar Stgernen said that there was definite interest from the Glasgow club.

"We are aware of Celtic's interest in Markus,' Stgernen said.

'They had a scout watching him against Stabaek earlier this month and I think they have also watched him earlier this season.

'There is also interest from clubs in Germany and France.

'We haven't received an offer for him. Would we expect one in the summer? Yes.''

Henriksen has been capped by Norway at international level has made over 60 appearances for Rosenborg since making his debut in 2009.

The midfielder was on the verge of joining Brugges during the January transfer window but had a last-minute change of heart, though he has said that he is ready to move abroad this year.

hey ed was just wondering something, not that i heard him leaving or anything put wsa wonder what you think Izzy would go for if he was sold? because he seems like he would be one of the greats not just for Celtic but at his position.. I think he would have the record price for a spl player. i know he still is developing and prob hasnt reached his full potential yet but was just wondering your opinion as it is the time of season lol.
in few years could see him if in epl going for upwards of 30mill. {Ed007's Note - I would be very surprised if any player left Scotland for more than £10 million. IMO there is more a chance of Wanyama going for higher in a few years, if his progression continues.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I understand the price tag max of spl but there has to be a time when they see just how much talent the 2 are that any club should pay what we demand because the two of them look like huge stars and we should get an epl price for them as well there better be a sell on clause. i thought btw him and izzy at the moment that izzy was in more demand but indeed wanyama looks like a beast and has some more developing to do but can see him tearing up any league he plays in. Hope we can keep both of them for a long time and i think going by thier personalities(mostly wanyama) i could see them staying, more so if we are in CL every year.
and just wondering your thoughts, of course we cant look into the future and any potential problems, but do you think (they look like they are one of the rare players these days who would stay at the club like a larsson) they would stay for a long time at Celtic? {Ed007's Note - I would love for CFC (and I said the same about Rangers) to be in a position to say '15 million....take it or leave it' to clubs interested in players. I have said on the Man Utd site a hundred times about the ignorance towards the SPL. If EPL teams find a player in lower leagues in around the world they don't mind paying top dollar (Fellaini at Everton, 15 million for a 20yr old from the Belgian league??), but as soon as it is the SPL they think the players must be inferior and want a bargain. Sadly if the player's head is turned by the move it is difficult for the club to keep them. I don't think we will see anyone show the loyalty Larsson did, most of the players we buy are bought with the intention of selling them at a profit sometime down the line, it is just the way it is up here now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Izzy has already stated he would like to stay at Celtic for life

hail hail

Marco1888 {Ed007's Note - It was only hypothetical Marco, it was more about the transfer fees situation.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed i understand what your saying with the buisness model but im sure Celtic have to think of holding on to the players such as Wanyama(and other special players) and others because you have to build a team with ppl who have been at the club because if you have new comers every year they dont know the club....the only one i see staying for a spot like that is Brown at the moment but would be great if Wany,Izzy even Sammy(right now the way he plays but we all know the bad side to.)
forgot to put my name when asking the above questions.
Canuck Bhoy {Ed007's Note - It would be great to be able to keep all our top players for years to come, just with minimal transfers in or out, 1 or 2 a year to keep things fresh. For now though we will always be fighting to keep these players, especially the foreign ones. Players like Adam Matthews, James Forrest, Rogne and Wanyama could all give us 5 -7 years service and still be young enough to move to England or abroad. I think players like Brown, Mulgrew etc, even Ledley will be here for a while as well.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone told me recently Real Madrid are watching Wanyama's progress.If true then they might want 1st refusal so maybe a few players from them on loan to secure that.Vic reminds me so much of Essien,it's uncanny.

at the end of the season lennon used the 3-5-2 quite alot using izzy and mathews as wingers.do you think that this was an experiment or that it will be used as our main shape next season.i can see it being used quite often even in europe except when were playing away.

any thoughts ed? {Ed007's Note - I do think it is a formation that will be used next season although I don't see it being our main formation. It will be easier to judge by the players that are brought in this summer.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I was delighted we adapted the 3-5-2 as I was on here during our bad spell crying out for a bit of flexibility away from 4-4-2 every week. It is a much better system for attacking and defending as long as the wide-players track. We have enough options for both and I do expect to see 3 or 4 quality additions to enhance this.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that is the formation we should play. Look how successful it was for O'Neill. Not comparing teams cause the O'Neill team was far superior but if we signed two big no nonsense defenders with rogne or wanyama as a back three then the pace of Izzy and Matthews would mean we have a strong defence with two players able to cover in if and when needed. Don't use it in Europe though.

ED007, Evinguu and bhoys have you read the latest from RTC....
In today's post he names a German player he says had an EBT in 2001, yes as far back as that Rangers were operating EBT's, he also gives some "advice" to Harper,McLeod and Doncaster on where to look re secondary contracts he virtually accuses Doncaster of using stalling tactics (well we all knew that) but this is quite hard hitting stuff, and
I get the feeling more names will be made public tomorrow.
Doncaster and the SFA are going to be embarrassed big time..
Things are now coming out, the finger in the dyke has been washed away and the TRUTH is gushing out.. Well done RTC... Timalloy

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Surely Doncaster hasnt took a lone wolf approach to this all ,he's bound to have backers in his efforts to ride roughtshod over all the paying fans who give up their hard earned cash some to travel many miles to attend matches .
If this is his personal opinion its time he was railroaded out of Scotland and Scottish football before what pieces of decency are left in the game are ripped to shreds.
If it is the case he has backing from SPL members ,in sallys words "who are these ppl " the ordinary fan in the street deserves to know ..... TTTS

Agree0 Disagree0

An earlier blog on the RTC site states that when Rangers won the league against Hibs in 2005 all 11 starting players and all 7 subs were on EBTs, which follows that they had dual contracts.

They are going to get hammered, if not by the SPL / SFA then certainly by UEFA.

No stone should be left unturned until every title /cup success gained by unfair means is erased from history book and all those involved are writen in history (LIKE DICK TURPIN etc) books for the world to see ......TTTS

22 May 2012 14:31:19
All this talk of Hooper leaving leaves me wondering. If he goes we then need 2 quality strikers brought in.

We have been wanting one to partner him not replace him. Will a 7mil fee cover our ambitions for what we want to see playing up front? I dont think it will. For this reason i can see Celtic starting a bidding war where possible to potential suitors.

We cannot afford on 2 fronts to allow hooper to go for single figure millions. As the rebuilding work needed would not be able to be done on the cheap again most probably.

I can see Lennon esp trying to dig his heels in to get the board to keep hooper no matter what for another season or at least untill we know If we qualify for CL group or not. If we dont make it I can see them cashing in. But before then i seriously doubt they will be entirley open to offers unless Hooper throws a major hissy fit, which i wouldnt expect from him but he is a footballer afterall.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

With 2 years left on his deal if he isnt going to sign a new deal i dont think its worth keeping him for another season because his price will drop drastically

Agree0 Disagree0

Evinguu, surely Hooper if he is leaving wont be leaving alone .
Say ki @5mill Hooper @7 million other surplus @3-4 million thats a budget of 15-16 mill then take the freeing up of wages by another 4-8 players leaving and a few pounds maybe squeezed out of Desmonds purse maybe if carefully spent there is good strenghening potential.....TTTS

Agree0 Disagree0

Evinguu, it looks like Hooper wants to move, our ED007 has confirmed this, so get as much for him as possible 7m a minimum plus add ons and sell on clause, we still have Sammy, Stokes, Bangura (he needs a big season) and the two young bhoys Watt and Dylan McGeuch they look promising..
Hopefully we can bring in this boy Henriksen, and maybe one other in attack. Then a good strong Centre half.
How do we fund this?....
Neil is letting 6 go so freeing up these wages.. Fee for Hooper, maybe even KI
giving us around 10m+ so Henriksen will cost 3m+, Forster if he signs 2m+
if not Gordon on a free,CH 3m+ we also have about 5 players out on loan last season get rid and free up their wages..
I think Celtic can fund about 4 good transfers from all this and still cut last seasons wage total.., then if (big if I know) but if we qualify for group stages of CL we get minimum 12m+ back. Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

I would let him leave. There are better strikers out there. In Stokes and hooper, we have 2 of the most 1 footed centre forwards I have ever seen. If the ball comes to them on the left foot, u know theres not gonna be a shot coming(stokes in last min of cup vs Killie). They'd rather take an extra 3 touches to get it onto their right foot. They very rarely head the ball. We have Mulgrew, Forest, Ledley, Ki, all able to whip a ball in, but nobody upfront brave enough to attack it.

Agree0 Disagree0

These responses are all fair and well and all have individual merits.

Would it not also be prudent perhaps to offer the bigger wage he is after on a guarantee that after this year the club will not stand in his way? Therefore if we qualify for CL we have a CL quality striker rather than an SPL one thats More exposure and more money may be needed to buy him from us due to his increased terms and new experience... works all round for everyone IF it works out of course. But again if we offer 20k theres going to be southampton offering 30k and if im honest I would prob take the 30k if i were not a celtic fan of course.

I just think selling him before we even have a crack at the CL is folly. All it would really do is decrease the chances of quali due to having to bed in 2 new strikers in time for the first game. Along with anyone else new coming in.

This said. You guys are right about getting in more money overall and being able to use it. Which could of course be beneficial.

But Just think we are in a position we have not been for a long time now where we really can make a decision that will see us through the next 5 years and how 1 player, 1 poor signing which could happen if we go out and spend 4-5 mil on a striker as a replacement its no guarantee of success. But if we can keep the better players not deemed as surplus like sadly Ki seems to have been for at least this attempt we have more chance that anyone who comes in could add to the squad and provide the extra dimention to our play we need sometimes. Rather than basically starting again with a 40% new first team squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

We cant allow hooper to leave for single figure millions......... get a grip m8.... you really think we would get 10 million for hooper.... really....... twice what rangers got for jelavic who would have outscored him last season if he had reamained at ibrox.......... more than we got for mcgeady from cash rich russians , cmon ..........

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think hes worth even 8 million mate.

I think if we get 7.5 million we should be happy with that.

Good player but not outstanding and i know this will rankle will my fellow celts fans but he is not as good as jelavic.

Jelavic is big fast strong, a predator in the box and has 2 good feet and fantastic heading ability.

most of these traits hooper has but certainly not all.

Jelavic would have been perfect for us before he went to that mob

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt say he was worth 10 mil dont think he is.

Im saying WE cannot afford to let him go for less than that as we would then be looking for 2 new strikers instead of one for the resons i have pointed out. no need for the anger dude its just a discussion!

So therefore he is currently worth more to us than a seven mil bid unless we fail to qualify for the CL. Thats all I am getting at dude. And we all know footballers seldom move for what they are worth. Do you really think Rangers would have let Jelavic leave for the price they did if they were not currently floating up the creek without a paddle? I doubt it.

Its not that hard to grasp. Please stop reading things so literally!

Evinguu

Agree0 Disagree0

I think they two last posts shouting about jelavic are rankers fans pretending to be one of the bhoys so go back to your own page and cry over there coz next season you might not even have a page buy buy

Ed regarding the hooper thing do u not think it seems strange that as u say he has asked to leave but is still in tonites squad for the game? {Ed007's Note - No.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

The only person i seem to see saying this is true is you ed? where did u hear it from? {Ed007's Note - That's none of your business.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely it is if im a celtic fan.not asking you to name the person but an indication where is came from wont compromise anyone? {Ed007's Note - It came from people very close to the whole situation, in Scotland and England.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you will be proved to be wrong ed007. no offence. i have my own source and he is more likely than not to stay with the Celts. I'd say only 15-20% chance of him leaving. He doesnt want to leave just wants to be made effectively top earner not by much though. Its up to the board wether we keep him or not. {Ed007's Note - It is nothing to do with money, the club know he is worth the pay packet he was looking for in January, it is more about his ambition to break into the international set up and play in the EPL.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed i think sally has made it onto the celtic page demandind to know who your source is

I just know that you are the man in the know and if you have been hearing this then its very likely its true. Lets hope if hooper is leaving we can get bout 8 mill and maybe another million if he makes his england debut. long shot but just never know

Kieran1888 {Ed007's Note - I think the fee will fall somewhere between 6 - 8 million Kieran, with possible add ons. With the player looking to leave CFC can't really play hard ball over the fee. If Hooper had signed the improved contract in January CFC would be in a stronger bargaining position. No team will pay way over the odds for a player looking to move but if a few teams get involved the price might creep up slightly.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it a foregone conclusion that he will be away Ed?

If so how much do you think we will recieve for him? I would be dissappointed with less than 9 million. {Ed007's Note - No transfer at this stage is guaranteed but I will say there is more chance of him leaving than staying, he has told the club he wants a move to the EPL. I will be surprised if Hooper is a CFC player for all of next season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmm, leaving in January 2013 then? {Ed007's Note - Possibly it could be after the CL qualifiers.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Use and abuse them...
Ach well. Hooper had a fantastic final game but hes been pretty inconsistent to be honest. Would prefer a goal scorer scoring every touch he gets of a ball.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Guessing game ed007?

Agree0 Disagree0

Bringing in a new main man upfront before the qualifiers is a big gamble as is getting a reliable keeper if we dont get foster.its two problems id much rather do without with these qualifier coming up and its something a few weeks ago i didnt really see coming

Agree0 Disagree0

Let hooper leave and bring in bianchi from torino

Celtic winger Paddy McCourt says he fully expects to remain with the SPL champions for pre-season training and believes he still has a long-term future at the club.

The 28-year-old's contract with the Hoops runs until 2013 with speculation linking him with a move away from Celtic Park this summer.

McCourt made 18 appearances for the club this term with many of those coming as a substitute.

However the Northern Irishman says he's preparing for pre-season training with the club.

He told the DR 'I'll sit down over the summer with the people I need to speak to and see what their thoughts are.

'If something comes up that suits myself and the club then we'll see what happens.

'It has been a bit frustrating because I haven't started a lot of games. But I'll speak to Neil and take it from there. I still fully expect to be here for pre-season'

I would be delighted if Paddy stayed. I know its selfish in a way but he is a great player to have about the squad and terrific impact player coming off the bench. When he had a run of games last season he did very well, if he keeps fit i could see him getting more game time . He showed me against Motherwell coming on and playin most of the match in the middle and playing very well that there is more to his game aswell. You can just imagine how much a championship team and theyre fans would love McCourt if he went to a Blackpool or Nottingham forrest. He would be hero worshipped even more than at Celtic at a team like that. I do hope he stays though.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has said that James Forrest will not be playing for Team GB at the London Olympics.

Forrest had been tipped for a place in Stuart Pearce's squad for the games and with FIFA rules stating that players called up would not be able to choose club over country, Celtic feared they would be without the Scotland international for crucial Champions league qualifiers.

Lennon said that he had been told that Forrest would not be selected for Team GB after discussions between Pearce and Celtic. The manager said that no Celtic players would be part of the united British team.

'Certainly not the British players, we've spoken with Stuart on that,' Lennon explained.

'James Forrest will not be going because he's been injured. Stuart's aware of that.

'As regards the rest of the [non-British] players, we'll speak to the other federations regarding that and hopefully there will be some sort of resolution where they are playing with Celtic when the time comes.'

Lennon also confirmed that Forrest had been part of Pearce's initial plans.

'He was in his thoughts but the fact that he's been out for so long probably rules him out.'

Hi Ed - first time poster. I am concerned about the goalkeeper issue. We've seen in the past Celtic being linked with good players only to discover we were being used as a benchmark to take to EPL clubs for higher wages. I get this feeling with Craig Gordon and Forster. Are you aware of any plan 'C' for a keeper? With Euro qualifying being early this year Celtic need to hit the ground running. Any thoughts? {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site. Alex Smithies from Huddersfield and David Forde from Millwall have both been watched. There will be other options as well, probably from abroad.}

Bringing in a new keeper is always a big gamble especially when we only have zaluska as backup

Celtic.

I don't post up on this page normally. I've got some definite news from a very reliable source in Edinburgh. If FF is not in goal next season for Celtic then you will have Craig Gordon as his replacement.

Ed my mate said today that rangers are still the most successful team in the SPL is that true? great site btw keep it up HH

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate. No CFC are the most successful team in the SPL, we have won the title 7 times as have Rangers, but we have came second every time they have won it whereas they have came third once. The things I do for you lot :-) Just kidding mate, I had it worked out:

Games Won Draw Lost Goals For A GD Points PPG Ratio
Celtic 528 388 75 65 1212 418 +794 1239 2.347
Rangers 528 364 93 71 1150 418 +732 1175 2.225

Sorry just seen your bit at the bottom you said you noticed too my bad buddy! {Ed007's Note - Cheers.}

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL. Aye, Celtic are the most successful SPL side and Kris Boyd is the number one goalscorer. In real life, Rangers have won many more titles than Celtic and Henrik Larsson is the Premier League's top goalscorer. Choose your preferred reality. {Ed007's Note - Larsson is not the SPL's top goal scorer, he played one season in the old Premier Division. He is ahead of Boyd in overall goal scoring. Statistically speaking CFC are the most successful SPL team as the figures above show. Here is the Larsson v Boyd stats:

Larsson played one season in the old Premier Division and 6 seasons in the SPL.

League: 173gls/221apps
Scot Cup: 23gls/26apps
League Cup: 11gls/13apps
Europe: 35gls/55apps
Total: 242gls/315apps

Boyd played in Scotland for 11 seasons in the SPL:

League: 164gls/296apps
Scots Cup: 17gls/27apps
League Cup: 11gls/17apps
Europe: 3gls/20apps
Total: 195gls/360apps
