Alfred N'Diaye looks set to be leaving Sunderland after just 6 months. He would be a good replacement for Wanyama. As an O'Neill signing he clearly isn't in Di Canio's plans

What about that boy McClean? anyone think he could do a job?

He would be a good signing for us, I agree. Not as much profit in him as there was for Wanyama, and he would be expensive (he has been playing epl and turkish football, so will be on big wages). That said - he would add quality to our squad -good physical defensive midfielder. Can't see it happening though. jean-Pierre Laguerre.

Just seen that wee Oscar Knox is the mascot for the game tomorrow. This is fantastic for the wee fellah after all he's been through. Coupled with the Sammi clip of the wee Hoops fan on the bus in Ireland it shows what we are about.

Truly more than a club. green jhedi

Absolutely, well said. I hope the kid has a brilliant night! Paul

In the words of Tommy Burns,

"When you pull on that jersey you're not just playing for a football club, you're playing for a people and a cause."

Sammy is clearly a fan of Tommy too!

Was just having a gander on the football rumours site there and noticed some one posting naki wells to Celtic.
I've been thinking about this guy for a while wondering if he would be good enough for the hoops?ithought his movement was excellent when I have saw him thoughts any one?

Believable2 Unbelievable10

Don't think he's quite there mate. Good league 1 player and showed up against a few Prem teams last season in that cup run to the final but not for me i'm afraid. Just my opinion.

Hi Ed hope you are well, quick question to you and all the guys. We hopeful of a couple of signings soon but I think we defo need a no 10 to control and create in matches. I know we can't spend fortunes so my guess is £5 mill max as I sure I seen Lawwell stating this would be our max previously. So guys fire away who would you go for
Rayman {Ed007's Note - I would go in for Bjorn Sigurdarson again, Wolves bought him and then played him as a winger which I thought was very strange considering what he brings to a team playing through the middle. Another player I like is Mehmet Ekici from Werder Bremen.
Max Clayton from Crewe is going to be the next big thing down south but at only 18 it would be a big step for him, but if we stole a march on the English teams and sign him, we would probably get more than we did for Wanyama when it came time to move him on. Speaking of Crewe, AJ Leitch-Smith has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Hooper, CFC have been watching him for over a year.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

I would be happy with Le Fondre or Hosiner replacing Hooper, Oshaniwa being bought as competition for Emilio and Mackay-Steven for the left wing

@) LM67

Spot on mate.

They are the one's I would suggest aswell. I like big Marc Janko aswell and he would be available. He would be my 4th Choice behind Hosiner, Le Fondre and Austin.

Mackay-Stevens is a must for me, its literally no risk at the price we would get him for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plus we need to keep our quota of Scottish players up for Champions League registration purposes. Simple choice

Hi mate, I agree big time about the no 10 position/even someone that sits deeper but can control a game with his passing. I know Huddlestone keeps getting linked and if he could fulfill his potential/improve his workrate he would be a great midfielder. I have always liked Mark Noble at West Ham-he reminded me off Paul Scholes(who was a genius) when I first seen him, but lately he just seems to be going through the motions. Maybe a change would be perfect for him(he's been at West Ham since he was a kid) He is different to what we have though-his head is always up, and he would probably get more freedom with us, maybe a part-exchange with Hooper? That situation has to get sorted now, it's boring now and is holding us back with regards a replacement/or do we just buy someone like Hosiner regardless? - We have lost Miko & Lassad! Cheers Paul

I agree I think what we lack is a creative number 10 type player, someone who can open up a defence with one pass or beat a few men and rattle in a goal!
My choices would be-
(Giorgian De Arrascaeta) 19 years old plays for Defensor Sporting in Uruguay
Looked a class act in the under 20s World Cup
(Jordan Veretout) 20 years old plays for Nantes in France again made a big impression in the under 20s World Cup
(Thomas) 20 year old plays for Flamingo in Brazil he has an Italian passport linked with Roma at the moment
All these player have massive sell on potential

Birdcut from brighton looks a real prospect

Mcgeoch for no10!wf

A few young scots I think to consider for us because of uefa's rules would be Matt Phillips frm Blackpool an explosive winger would add pace to the team.Steven Saunders frm Motherwell a big CB who impressed last season with consistent performances.Stuart Armstrong frm Dundee utd big future&can play anywere in midfield.Liam Bridcutt frm Brighton who is a young tenacious CDM with excellent passing.I thnk GmSteven frm dundee utd would be a good addition bt mite cost a bit&has had a few injurys.gbhoy

love this talk of a number 10. how many teams have one?. name them? {Ed007's Note - Rooney at Man Utd, Mata at Chelsea, Tevez at Juventus, Wilshere at Arsenal, Messi at Barca, Ozil at Real Madrid. I could go on but as you obviously don't know what the term a No.10 means in modern football, this might explain it to you, it is more a tactical term than a literal one:

for all fans in scotland asking why the match is not on tv, maybe bums on seats would benefit the club/team?

we won't attract players to the league of a great stature, but the quality will be less if the club can't use the fanbase as selling power!

we should now be known as the "greatest armchair supporters in the world"

cmon guys get bums on seats and cheer on our team!

Agree2 Disagree0

Same as last year. Bit gutted actually.

DAMO1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Well maybe if the club invested a bit of cash in what we had to watch they would get a bigger attendence. plus £20 a ticket? celtic need to get a grip.

Agree1 Disagree0

To the bums in seats comment! Not everyone can afford to attend parkhead on every european night, I attend in group stages if we make it, can't afford to do it all year round, so TV is the cheap option for those who can't make it up due to financial reasons, my mrs has just lost her job as the company went into admin. are CFC going to do anything to help pay my bills in this dificult time for myself and my family? NO they won't blink an eye lid!

Agree0 Disagree1

Sorry - meant to say - on the 'bbc'. if they paid for the first leg, I bet they have the second too. It was a NI broadcast - so it must have something to do with their local obligations or commitments.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers fan here your match is on bbc2 Northern Ireland u might pick that up on the sky regional channels I know u defo get bbv1 ni on sky and virgin not 100% aboot bbc2 but worth a look if yer not going to manage to make the match

Agree0 Disagree0

To bums on seats are you 1 of these celtic fans that think anybody who isn't a season ticket holder isn't a real celtic fan there are lots of reasons people watch the games on tv instead of going and in my view it doesn't make them any less of a celtic fan than me and I hold a season ticket

Hoopybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont finish work til 7.30. Getting from Killie to Glasgow in 15 mins is impossible. Not going to be branded an armchair fan, but can't make it. would have thought it would have been on TV aswell, seeing as its included inseason books. i'd have understood if it was all ticket, and they wanted to sell it out, then don't put it on telly.

Samson

Agree1 Disagree0

Just checked the TV listings for tomorrow night and no mentin of the game being on tv NI.

Agree0 Disagree0

Due to health problems and financial limits I can't afford travel and attend games; however, I can appreciate why this tie is not being televised. We are at home 3-0 up from the first leg and it is our earliest round of CL. The TV showed the first leg hoping for a 'banana skin' event.
This is our first competitive game of the new campaign at Celtic Park and many supporters will be champing at the bit to get back and cheer the Bhoys.
I do understand the frustrations though, regarding bringing in quality.
The loss of Wanyama plus severe doubt over Hooper and Wilson staying is really detracting from the job NL has done to build and develope a good young team.
So the Board must back him to the hilt and bring in real quality replacements if we are to improve on last season or even equal the clubs achievements.

The original tv announcement (3 July) of first leg coverage indeed makes no mention of the second leg. Grrrrrr.

i am not saying all people should attend or have the means to, but there are certainly people who trot out the same excuses and its garbage.

Firstly, I don't think non season book holders are not fans.

secondly people working cannot be helped

thirdly people who can't afford it I understand.

now onto those whod rather go to the pub, or who won't go to a game unless they get a pint. or those who choose another pass time like golf etc .

ill stick my neck out and say they are not as much of a supporter as guys that attend the wee matches etc. stay in the pub and on the course buit keep your opinions to yourself, or put your bum on a seat and sing and shout and make noise and be a fan.

again if its not financially possible etc then i'm not aiming a swipe at these people,

but the ones who say, oh if they buy a better kind of player i'd go.

jeezo we support the players on the park, we are the club, get behind the team c'mon stop the excuses, your more than happy to take the good times and the tag of best fans in the world, when these so called second rate players punch above their weight!

Agree0 Disagree0

The ticket prices aren't the problem. It's just the poor quality of opposition that means many people can't be bothered. I don't understand people having a go at Celtic for their ticket prices, they've just reduced the price of adult season tickets buy £100!

Does anyone complain about ticket prices for Champions League matches? 60000+ people are more than willing to pay from £25 to £50 for those.

Attendances are often low because too many people purchase season tickets just to secure tickets for the 'big games'. I've came across people from London and even New York, who have season tickets, never attend league games, but turn up for games against Barcelona, Juventus and the cup final. Celtic need to review this and make it so they can see how many league games everyone has attended throughout a season, then guarantee 'big game' tickets for those people who turn up regularly. Maybe this would be an incentive for people, who can afford it, to turn up for more league games.

hi ed any truth that celtic are after sergio buenacasa {Ed007's Note - Well he played for a Celtic XI against Cork City last night. I wouldn't get too excited about him signing, at 17 he will more than likely join up with the reserves or youth squad.}
