Heard reports that Hooper has rejected final offer from Celtic. Anyone know what terms where? Be interesting to see what the wages on offer were. To see of Hoops is being greedy, or we have the biscuit tin mentality back.

JollyGreenGiant

Believable8 Unbelievable11

Lennon said the offer would have made him 2nd/3rd highest paid player at the club but also said that offer has been on the table for the last three months, I would expect us to give him another offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

See 2nd or 3rd just aren't good enough I like hooper he a great player been 1 of our best players for 2 seasons now so why not 1st choice contract ? rather than him saying he wants to stay but celtic wants to cash in and I don't blame them we are a selling club so sell trippy

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic have a gold, silver and bronze basic wage pay structure, gold is 20-30 grand a week and 3 to 4 players are in that bracket at one time, the bulk of the squad are in silver 10 -20 grand a week, and the fringe and youth team players are on bronze, celtic have never had anymore than 5 players in the gold bracket, and will never increase that number .that is how it works and Celtic never move on that pay structure .He is a young player and if NL says he been given a good offer then Celtic are right to hold there postion in this matter . Clearly this is the work of the agent pushing his luck .HH

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if the club introduced a Platinum or even a Diamond pay scale it still wouldn't make a difference and persuade Hooper to sign.
He doesn't just want money, he wants to go home and he wants the 'week in week out' challenge of playing at a higher level. You can't blame him for that.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

A higher level. Pumped every other week at Norwich or Champions League?

EPL is so over-rated even C*****e Ad**m got a game.

It's obviously a good league but it's the 2 horse race they always slagged us for

Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham do not count as challengers

Man Utd are always up there, City and Chelsea bought their way up and there and both of them are still under achieving

the rest of the squads Norwich, Villa, Swansea, etc average

Best leagues now are as follows.

1. La Liga
2. Bundesliga
3. EPL & Serie A on par {Ed007's Note - Isn't La Liga only a two horse race as well?}

Andres villas boas at match tonight

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Sandro go injured last week, he watching vic, hooper doesn't suit his style of play, he plays 1 up front most of the time, he in the market for a sitting midfielder .

Agree0 Disagree0

So was Fergie that's why they played so well lol........ One eye on their next job.

Agree1 Disagree0

It's either one of the two Hooper or Wanyama. I don't think Avb would think twice about signing Hooper, they want a champions league place. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Alex Ferguson was at the game also. So was I :)

AVB wasn, t at the game.

Just heard that Fergie and AVB are at the match tonight, surely this will stoke the fire in regard to the rumours about Spurs and Hooper!

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Aye, they are. Couple of others also! Well saying that, I've got the privelage of chick young on the wireless. It's like Facebook! If he says something it must be true...bring it on.. Bid away!

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie and AVB are both looking for a dcm and guess what hooper is not a dcm lol so one guess who they where looking at.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 - 25 million for the 2 players will put celtic on a financial level that we haven't seen since martin oneil took charge, john park could start looking at a higher level of player for our team, if the offers come in at the money ? we got to cash in . Lennon must have some sort of transfer kitty in this window ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie is up for sean fallons funeral the mora so a would'nt read 2 much into him bein at the game

gunniebhoy

Agree1 Disagree0

I think they'll both want wanyama after tonight. but the performance he put in will either be able to afford him. £25m was quoted by lennon in an off the cuff remark a few weeks ago but I seriously think he is worth that fee. the guy is a legend in the making.

just read tottenham are considering £10 million bid for hooper, not sure how reliable it is might just be backpage rubbish, i'm sorry but i'd take that and run for the hills, give that to lennon to work his magic in the transfer window, plus if the austin attention is true i'd be more than happy with him has a replacement I saw him play for burnley against birmingham city not too long ago and he is a real talent

Believable12 Unbelievable10

Spurs tend to play one up top, and as much as I rate hooper I can't see that working well for him in epl

Agree0 Disagree0

Austin would be good buy for Celtic and in SPL he would score a few goals just like he has been doing.Still expect he would cost a few $$$$$$ won't come cheap

Juventus and Liverpool reportedly interested in Rojas. Bugger.

Believable11 Unbelievable7

Yeah the radio here in Melbourne keeps mentioning it. I'd love to see him in the hoops, he's come a long way in the last 12 months, and I don't think another year in the A-league will help. He needs out now, and Lennoxtown would be a perfect fit. Surely we can use the fact that Rogic is here already to sway him. he is a fantastic prospect, and would have more opportunity at Celtic to gain first team football than Juve or Liverpool.

Melb Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

You'd know more than me about him Melb. I've only really seen snippets of him but have read some top guys raving about the lad. Was hoping he'd be one of the 'two or three' that would sign this window.

So Spurs have now thrown their hat into the ring in regards to the Gary Hooper saga ...This can only be good for Celtic ...Resigned to loosing him its now down to the highest bidder ....TTTS

Believable11 Unbelievable3

He has reject celtic top dollar offer, time to listen to offers and start putting feelers out for a good striker, I would drop him for tonights game .

Agree1 Disagree0

The only team that has showed real intrest is Norwich spurs are not intrested and Liverpool do not want to so any deals as they have Sturridge I guess that leaves Sunderland but they have a lot of strikers already and possibly Danny graham going there Norwich seem to have dropped intrest in him and want hooper I have a felling Norwich might come in with a 8m bid take it or leave it or they will bid 6-7m now with a 2m if they stay up but that's a risk for Celtic if they go down. So my guess is Norwich if they have or have not already budded 7-8m and as nothing has been said maybe its being done behind all doors guess we will see in 9 days time.

Agree0 Disagree0

I also think he should be dropped for 2nights game....time for celtic to show him that we are bigger than gary hooper, he will go and another will take his place..he has clearly shown he no longer wants to be here by not signing, time for lawell to put his money where his mouth is with regards to his comments a week or so ago when he said there was funds for a marque signing...go out buy a new striker...then sell hooper!

Agree0 Disagree1

In all honesty we have missed a trick with Hooper. The extension should have been offered at the end of the first season. Everyone knows the strategy is to bring guys in on 3 year deals with Celtic having the option of a 4th year. If they do well they are offered an extension at the end of the 1st year so they effectively still have 4 years left. If you sell them after season 2 or 3 then they still have at least 2 years left.
Niall

Agree2 Disagree0

My feelings about the Hooper saga has been evolving daily, going from doing anything to hold on to our prize asset, to now believing that if he won't resign then get him moved on and let the boy attempt to reach his ultimate goals.... But if Celtic are resigned to loosing him, then don't leave it to the last minute of the transfer window as I don't believe we are strong enough in the Striker position to sustain our season on four fronts. Celtic need a definative answer form Hoops about his intentions once and for all, be that holding off for a move in Summer or going now to chase the money tree with Norwich. At the end of the day I don't want to see my team loose out here.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm like most others out there, would rather keep Hooper but now resigned to him wanting to go so get the 8million from Norwich or whoever will pay it, let Miku go back home and go out and get ourselves a right decent striker or two, shake Hoopers hand, say thanks and all the best and move on.

Gary

Agree2 Disagree0

Imagine that he had a couple of england caps maybe even a goal for them? He would be worth a few dollars more

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with most, say thanks and let him move on, but have someone ready to come in before he goes, best of luck gary wherever you go

Afternoon my fellow Timalloys!

So I've just had a read through The Independent's story on big Vic. If true then we are demanding more than £10m from Arsenal with Man Utd and Real Madrid keeping an eye on the situation.

If only we can hold on to him until the summer, does anyone else think it could start a crazy bidding war between these three?

Also in the same article it mentions Mohamed Diame from West Ham has a £3.5m release clause written into his new contract and is open to a move, surely he would be a like-for-like replacement?

Thoughts?!

HamiltonBhoy

Believable9 Unbelievable4

One word, WAGES! Prem players, in a first team, will not move here.........green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyamas capable of going on to play for any of those three. Genuinely got a future star in our ranks again. I'd imagine celtic to accept around £15m.

Agree0 Disagree0

3 massive clubs and if involved in a bidding war the millions could creep up ...but been cup tied for CL it might suit all concerned to wait until summer ?....TTTS

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't see there being a bidding war because if Arsenal offer say 12M and it is accepted then ManU Real ext, will only need to offer the same to be allowed to offer a contract, the only one to benefit will be Vic as it will be a contract bidding war to get him to sign their contract, we need Man City interested as they just pay any ridiculous fee set

I have just watched a few clips of Charlie Austin and he looks every bit as prolific as Gary Hooper but better in the air, I like every other Celtic fan does not want Hooper to go but we must face facts that he just does not want to play his football in Scotland for ever which is fair enough. If we get 8 million for Hooper and get Austin for a few million then I for one will be happy. Antony

Believable12 Unbelievable6

That post by anthony stokes....

I'd happily let hooper go if we could get austin in, charlie austin is a better talent and all round player than hooper IMO

Just read this on tv Website.....

TRANSFER LATEST
Reports that Tottenham are believed to have joined the race for Celtic contract rebel Gary Hooper, 24. Norwich City have had a £5million bid for the former Scunthorpe striker while Liverpool and QPR are also thought to be keen.

Personally I think he will go in this window and if he's left out of tonight's game then that would probably confirm it. Anyway, if he goes then I wish him well because he has been excellent for us. I just hope we have a decent replacement lined up.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy {Ed007's Note - Hooper was recommended to Spurs but AVB has said he is not interested. LFC's interest has cooled and QPR are linked with every player around.}

Believable3 Unbelievable9

He won't leave this window unless a decent team makes a bid imo. Norwich & QPR can forget it, Liverpool & Spurs out the picture according to the Ed, who does that leave? I'll start worrying if the likes of Newcastle, Sunderland, Everton show an interest, dd

Agree0 Disagree0

Where hooper lands depends on where danny graham goes 100% fact northeast club will come in for hooper and get him yous will know by friday good luck in CL

Agree0 Disagree0

Time to just let hooper go, the fans will turn against him pretty soon I can imagine....that's several contract extentions he's said no to, he clearly doesn't want to be here..and if celtic aren't offering our best striker a decent contract to put him on par with the top earners at the club well we deserve to lose him....were fast to complain about the bhoy, but if you were hooper banging in the goals and earning less than say samaras ud be knockin on PL door aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

NUFC wouldn't match Celtic's valuation. Graham will sign for Sunderland so doubt they're interested. As Ed points out QPR get linked with anyone and how interested Liverpool ever were we won't be sure. Can't see him leaving for Norwich this window. He'll most likely move in the summer now for less money.

Agree0 Disagree0

NUFC wouldn't match Celtic's valuation. Graham will sign for Sunderland

not so sure about Graham m8 sunderland need the deal done by wed/ thursday but swansea stalling on it, so MON will make bid for hooper on thursday if Graham deal fails me thinks should only be 1 window SUMMER

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2013 11:25:59
As the rumours and media speculation grow about 2 or 3 of our players leaving, we must ensure that any replacements are agreed and signed in advance.
If not and we do lose anyone - especially late in the window for big money - we will be scurrying around chasing 2nd and 3rd choices at over-inflated prices.

JJ

Believable6 Unbelievable4

The interview yesterday with johan, told us everything, Celtic have a short list of possible replacements for our in demand stars, if we don't get the replacement signed then our player will not be allowed to leave .Thats how the january window works, so don't panic fellow hoops .

Agree0 Disagree0

I can`t see us paying over inflated prices for anyone! but if anyone does move i`m pretty confident we have cover for at least until the end of the season, I just can`t wait for this window to shut, Keir

Believable3 Unbelievable8

No, going back to Australia to sort out some stuff, back in a week or so to start his new career in the Hoops.

Agree0 Disagree0

No he back in Oz sorting out paper work, not expected to feature until weekend or next midweek

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he has to go back to Australia to get his work permit, so doubt we will see him before sunday. {Ed007's Note - He was granted a WP yesterday.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah he got a SFA work permit but had to go back to Oz to rubber stamp it as he didn't qualify for a international A class work permit due to no playing enough games for the Aussies.

TV saying Hooper to Norwich with a player plus cash deal. With The player being Grant Holt. maccabhoy

Believable5 Unbelievable16

Why would we want a 31yr old who can't get a game for Norwich. Yeah he's big and strong but I think NL is trying to create a more fluid team which will have pace. Sure he will score a load up here but for how long, 18months maybe. I am more concerned that our top scorer isn't being offered the same deal as the top boys at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Holt does not want to play for Celtic he has said to us fans today at training that he's not going anywhere he is happy and his family are settled and he does not want to move his children from there school as moving to Celtic will be the same wages and there's no point. Not saying Norwich are a bigger club but we can offer more wages to players then you can if you really wanted hooper where's the 30-35k a week for a player your people rate 15-20m if he was down here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats the reaason why your club is up to it's neck in debt becasue you pay out money you don't have in the hope you can stay in the EPL. Lets face it other than about 7-8 clubs the rest of the clubs in the EPL are fighting a relegation battle every year, the terget is 40 points, not a title, not a european place, not top half, just 40 points and that is supposed to be ambition. I cannot imagine what it must be like to support a club who are overjoyed at mid table mediocrity and maybe if the decent teams have a bad day a wee run in a cup. Our club pays wages we can afford based on what comes in the door. This year we will turn a HUGE profit and have ZERO debt, whereas if your club get relegated you will have a firesale to keep the club afloat. I know which camp I would rather be in. Players come and go and there is always someone who will replace Hooper if he goes but we will never bankrupt our club for one player. If Hooper goes he will vwry quickly realise what he has walked out on and that comes from John Hartson who played for the BIG boys in the EPL.

Independent saying arsenal to put bid in for big vic in the next few days ?

What your thoughts of Celtic selling both wanyama & hooper ? My only concern is we sell both more so towards the 31st and don't bring in anyone ?

Think Juventus will keep hooper but wanyama head could be turned easier than hoppers

Lenny

Believable1 Unbelievable5

If it`s only the Juventus game keeping Hooper it`s time to sell him! I personally don`t want him to go but it looks like it`s on the cards, he asked his agent for a move to the EPL according to ED007, I think i'm right in sayiing that Ed? I would like Wanyama to stay also, he looks awesome and hopefully he lives up to everyones expectations, but if Arsenal do put a bid in for him I think he`s gone sooner rather than later. As long as the players valuations are met, and not some under valued bid to unsettle the players, after all they are buying the player, not the league that he plays in, Keir.

Agree0 Disagree0

Again, I think this is typical scottish media trying to upset the apple cart. Why would Arsenal want to buy a guy who is cup tied for the champs league? I don't think so, it'll be end of the season stuff for big vic if he goes. In terms of hooper, good luck if he wants to go the EPL and play with the likes of Norwich, I doubt the likes of chelsea, man city or utd would want to sign him as he isn't a big enough name. That about the only 4 teams you'd want to go to because you'll be guarenteed European football.

Annoys me when players forget their arse, Hooper would still be playing lower league football if it hadnt been for us and so would big vic.

No ones bigger than celtic.

£8-£10m for Hooper
£15+ for Wanyama

And we'll start talking Business
Sick of the way these premier league teams just come in a except us to sell all our players for £5m just because the league we play in.

Agree1 Disagree0

Wanyama is already better than song was the size or who the club is makes no difference to a players talend and ability there is not a Celtic fan who wants to sell wanyama as he is exceptional! Sick of you English muppets saying Scottish media does this and that!English media owned by the same people and make up the same bs down south so away back under a rock.
