Dont look into it to much. BR insists anyone coming in must be able to run and press. Rules pretty much all the 33+ age group.

he is unhappy at Everton and wants out. Would love to come to Celtic and play champions league football. However he first needs to speak to his agent. Hence its not true but it's not false. There must also be another player lined up. Sorry Dafabet on this one I know plenty.

Please don't big SB up. He has delivered nothing that wasn't already out there. We could all write exactly what is already written online but the difference is we don't.

Got to agree with Niall here SB. lots of ifs buts and maybe! But I suppose it is a rumour site lol! Wouldn't Mind McCarthy to fair but really can't see him leaving EPL! God just imagine the anti climax if we don't sign anybody else this transfer window! After all the talk about this player and that player! Lol. bloody hope we're all not getting her hopes up for nothing!

I think McCarthy would be a great signing. If we could come up with an acceptable fee I think the wages side of things could be worked on. The boys Celtic daft and I do feel if there's genuine interest there's a deal to be done there.

SB

If you tell us something that isn't already common knowledge I said I would bow down to your superior knowledge. So far you haven't.

Also you have kept your options totally open with the marquee signing talk to the point that you can't be wrong as the story has changed so many times.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 22:25:25
Just because McCarthy isn't happy at Everton and would love to play for Celtic (apparently) doesn't mean that Celtic are interested in him.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 22:36:23
Exactly ice man. We have asked him about the rumours and I posted response above. He would love to come and play champions league football but needs to speak to his agent. It's more than possible rumour started with agent. I'm being honest thought no way 100% nonsense but my above post came direct.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 22:40:34
Niall your right mate so no a problem that's why this is a rumour site people post what they hear some from genuine sources others from taxi drivers uncles dog. BUT IF he is going to sign and I post to say 100% go put bet on you won't want to know?

SB

I'm not bother about James McCarthy. We should have signed him when we had the chance 4 to 5 years ago. That ship has sailed as his fee and wages are out of our range.

The reason I have been harsh on you is I just know that Celtic fans have been crying out for a hero type like Larsson, Keane, Bellamy or Miku :) affer years of Lassad, Bangura and Balde type signings and it isn't fair to build up this marquee signing talk. If it all falls flat and doesn't materialise some will be left disappointed at a time when we should all be optimistic about our club going forward.

Skinnybhoy would love this to happen mate and the fact that the lad seems open to the idea is encouraging. Guess we'll just have to ! The next 7 days will be interesting.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 23:38:48
Niall mate this is a rumours site nobody forces anyone to read or get hopes up. I only post what have been reliably informed direct. My marquee signing source has a high profile job in Celtic. I only posted what told, a whole manner of things must materialise qualification is number 1. I'm sure in previous years we would have had signings in place only to collapse. To be honest I would be happy to just shift more dead weight.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 08:08:51
Skinnybhoy is Mccarthy going to be our marquee signing?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 09:52:49
Skinnybhoy - you've been raving away about a marquee signing, like I said previously, it's hardly anything profound or insightful, the majority of fans thought when Rodgers got the job he would be backed with cash, and 90% also think that a big signing was possible if we qualify for the Champions League! Then the other day when a lad posted about McCarthy you said it was nonsense because he was on 70k per week. Well he's not on that wage, and now you're saying you know him. So to sum up you're saying we're getting a marquee signing but won't go near 70k. You sound like a nice guy but I don't take you seriously! Why try to be something you're not? One thing I can't be doing with is characters trying to be super-fans who know all the inside info. If they can back it up great, but why treat the rest of Celtic supporters like mugs if it's all in your head, or like the rest of the guys have said things that are on other INFERIOR (hope you appreciate that Ed) sites. Anyway Skinny, and the rest of the troops, enjoy the game tonight, please God we make it because it's the biggest payout we'll have had in our history, with the way it's been changed and with BT, we could end up with £25/ 30 million, it would set us up for the next few years.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 10:02:57
Marco I would think it will be someone else from what I'm told deal is set up! McCarthy on other hand would love to come and play champions league and unhappy at Everton. Most possibly his agent started rumour however he is aware of the rumours said he needs to speak to agent so doubt very much anything agreed there yet. Hence why it's not all false but not all true either mate.

I've heard international clearance applied for by the club for a player who will sign on Friday, Also heard that P Roberts is quite far down the line on a permanent deal.6 million up front City paid not 12 like rumored, the other 6 was add owns, England caps etc, . we would pay City 6 million, . Now that is . lol, true or pish? Who knows.

I had a dig at Skinnybhoy but it was in jest, lads its a rumour site and everyone who has a rumour or info can post it, it may be from a reliable source or from a taxi driver, I've also had info and it turned out to be rubbish and that was from an investor. Anyhow today I've heard the Roberts rumour that we are trying to make the deal permanent again it could be crap but its a bit of gossip till the window slams shut.
Skinnybhoy hopefully yours comes in.
Hail Hail.

I'm sorry mate, I didn't mean to have a go at you, it's just annoying when fans (not just you) say things as a matter of fact. Another lad said McCarthey had a year left on his contract, which if true would change my whole argument, when he has 4 years left. Then you say it's nonsense because he gets 70k, which is also wrong, then you top it off by saying you know him. What is the point of just saying things that back up your argument, anybody can do that, it's not normal behaviour though. McCarthey is a good all round midfielder, and if like Snodgrass was near the end of his contract is think it was good business to get him for a small fee/ Bosman. I've just never seen him as a £20 million pound player though. He doesn't dominate the midfield like a Kante. It didn't surprise me at all that Koeman doesn't rate him. I love hearing rumours, just not the ones that people have been talking about in the boozer for months.

Ed with regards to Kev 1962 post would Lucas require international clearance?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Of course he would, any player moving to a new association needs international clearance.}

23 Aug 2016 15:00:51
Guys first time poster, just heard someone close to McCarthy that he is wanting a loan move to us due to family/ personal reasons, mite be pish but as I say they are close to him so thought I would post it.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 17:26:18
Mccarthy deal could be a loan move. Know his family from castlemilk and drink with his uncle pat in the beechwood. James wants away and would like a move back home.

I hope Mccarthy does want to come and we tell him to ram it up his jazz drum.

Any player who walks out of a stadium after being subbed is a fud and is better of as far away from us as possible.

Guys, i have said on several occasions that Roberts is the guy we want to get on a permanent deal. He is here, can see the set up, and is getting game time ( and I know that`s part of the loan deal ) . Mt thoughts are that, he will get little or no game time in the 1st team regardless of how well he does at CP.

Im sure a deal can be done and I know that any transfer will be a bucket load ( and a lorry load by our standards ) .
So to the powers that be:
You got us the Manager and a few players to boot,
now get us the star and spend some of your loot.

For me it's also a priority signing. Got a contract till 2020 and city payed 12 million back then so unfortunately can't see that happening. Would be well invested money we could ask for.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 20:04:15
Was it not 6million with addons taking it to a possible 12 million
City are trying to get young English talent though due to epl restrictions and with brexit the epl can enforce the 5 foreigners rule as uk won't fall under eu employment laws.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 20:33:47
They paid 4m with add ons up to 12m
The add ons would have been for premier lge starts England call up ect.

So don't think they've paid anymore than the 4m

Think we could get him for 4/ 5m with add ons up to 5/ 6m.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 20:41:33
City didn't pay 12 upfront.
No way is the EPL ever going to enforce the 5 foreigner rule.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 08:10:48
City paid 4 million upfront with add ons taking it to 12million I think we could get him for 6/ 7m8llion and that would be money well spent.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 15:50:14
IMO I don't think BR will be looking at trying to get Roberts on a permanent until the next window as we have him already so I think he will try to get a player in on a position he feels is weak and hope to progress to the last 16 then try MC out for a permanent basis.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 17:58:11
For me if possible we make Roberts signing our top priority, getting him on a long term contract, knowing the talent he has at such a young age, his value will soar n 4 me he would b a certain starter always.
I'd have him on a permanent if it meant nobody else coming in I rate him that highly.
He could easily score 15 to 20 a season n assist some amount 2.
Hail hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Stan19 is looking to speak to you mate so if you send in your e-mail address I'll forward it on to him.}

23 Aug 2016 18:19:30
Tony

For me that is a risky strategy. There were already talks/ rumours that Villa and Newcastle were interested in buying him late last season.

If we want him we have to do it now as after he tears it up for another 6 months there will be a queue of teams willing to give him twice the money we can.
