WITH just over five weeks until the transfer window re-opens, Celtic are stepping up their search for the recruits believes his side needs to bring the title back to Parkhead.

The latest name linked is Spanish rising star, Jose Antonio Ruiz – nicknamed Pirulo – a 19-year-old midfielder currently catching the eye with Espanyol’s youth team.

His agent, Luis Pacha, has already been in talks with Celtic about the prospect of the former Cadiz player making the move.

But Espanyol have the teenager under contract for the next three years, and would be looking for a fee of around £1million to let him go.

Pirulo is attracting interest from several other clubs

Why would we need another midfielder??
Its the one department that we don not need any more players. So I really can't see this being true at all. We all now in defense that we need players for.
CB67 {Ed007's Note - He is only 19, so it could be one for the future perhaps.}

Yeah true Ed, but I think we'd be best to put all the money into a good commanding Center Half or two. As Mr Lawell says we only have limited funds??
CB67 {Ed007's Note - Rumours going around down south that Southampton will bid £2- £2.5 million for Hooiveld in January, surely that will be put in the available transfer kitty. If we can get Lustig on a free transfer that would be a great piece of business IMO.}

Ed did you see lustig v England? He was awful at right back and got subbed after 55 mins so if right back is his natural position I'd hate to see him at ch for us {Ed007's Note - I never watched that game, so I can't really comment, sorry.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Because we have got plenty of midfielders doesn't mean you pass up the chance to bring in more if lennon thinks he has potential to be a starter in our team in say a year or so then you take it otherwise you lose a potentially great player because he wasn't ready at the time. And at 1m its hardly breaking the bank and you could make a tidy profit

I remember similar coments about paying a million for a 19yo midfielder at the start of the season, ( Wanyamma) and that imo is looking to be an outstanding bit of buisness.

CELTIC are poised to make a quickfire signing offer to Swedish stopper Mikael Lustig in a bid to trump interest from La Liga and the Premiership.
The Rosenborg ace, who is out of contract at the end of this month, has surged into boss Neil Lennon's future thinking after he saw the defender play against England last week.
Lustig, who operates at either right-back or centre-half, is available to join on a free transfer in January and the 24-year-old is not short of options.
Fulham are watching the situation as are Espanyol. However, sources close to Lustig last night said Celtic could make a concrete offer within days in a bid to jump the queue. Daily Record

Think the boy wants to move here so if he's good enough, get it done

Agree0 Disagree0

He'll sign for the highest wages be it Celtic or Fulham, lets be honest he has no loyalty to Celtic, Rangers, or anyone really, just making a good living.

Agree0 Disagree0

We can only hope Mjallby Dan Henke etc will make the difference this boy looks like he can play a bit.

Seen this guy vs england and he got tore apart by their widemen namely Downing and Baines and supposedly RB is his best position therefore i would say No as we are well covered there and Matthews is a star in the making.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon described him as a right back. Not sure we really need another right back although I guess it depends how good he is.

Matthews has been a great player this season and I'd hate to see him dropped, Wilson will eventually return after his knee op and Cha is decent enough cover.

May not sound great seeing as Matthews could easily pick up an injury and Cha is often offski at inconvenient times to play for S. Korea but it's the last position I'd bother strengthening to be 100% honest bearing in mind we have Towell and Juarez (albeit on loan) who can both play RB. Don't know if we have a recall clause but even if we don't we're well covered in the long term and I can think of one or two other more important and obvious areas that we could do with adding some quality...
