Was at the game last night...excellent atmosphere. Still reckon we have a chance of qualifying for the last 16 but we need at least a point in 2 weeks time in Moscow, and other results going our way.

I have a question, just been watching the Young boys v Liverpool game...its a cracker (3-3). I have been impressed with a few of Young boys players. On average, what wages are the players on...are we able to compete with them is what i am really asking. The lad zarate scored a peach for their 3rd and another player scored a good header for the second. Also, their winger seems to have great technical ability.

I always seem to be scouting for Celtic whenever i watch a football match lol as i am sure many of the regular posters do.

cheers guys,

Ed, what is the banner we have been charged with in the friendly against Norwich? johnbhoy79 {Ed007's Note - It's the same one that was at the Ajax game.}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

It was the evolution BANNER WHICH WAS BRILLIANT. Funny how it is just
coming up now.

Agree0 Disagree0

They want to start dealing with the real issues in Scottish football, if it was the evolution banner some people need to get a sense of humour. johnbhoy79 {Ed007's Note - I's say it shows that some people have finally accepted what we have been saying for months, the Rangers we all knew has gone forever. It could prove to be a blessing in disguise and save some of the bickering.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers founded in 1872 and incorporated as a company in 1899 are finished, being liquidated.
The banner is witty and reflected what was in main stream media at the time. TV stations were showing Rangers cracked crests and shield falling off Ibrox and smashing. The banner was a cartoon. The Times and The Telegraph show such cartoons. Also shooting zombies is big in current popular culture.
THERE IS CLEARLY NO CASE TO ANSWER. {Ed007's Note - Does anyone know if I am I still allowed to play Resident Evil on the PS3? I am over 18.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers clutching at straws here.
It was a cartoon.
Yes the joke was on Rangers.
Everyone knows survivors can only dispatch zombies with a head shot.
There's actually clubs where you can go to dress up and have face paint like a zombie and learn to walk and behave as a zombie......... Rangers club is one such place.

Agree0 Disagree0

FIFA 13 meets walking dead lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Its probably the part of the banner were there's a sniper with a gun. Looks borderline IRA, UVF material. The rest looks fair game for a laugh, I'm sure we will soon find out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a banner what was the out come of the banner a didnt exactly see fans of nowrich make a stand against it and cause riots due to it

There under pressure from sevco fans to give us a ticking of as sevco fans claim there been victomised ad take the ticking of if it opend up the right punisment to the oldco

Peter cardiff

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see why they would take offence, but i like the banner and think its hilarious. Its a bit irresponsible having the boy shoot the zombie, thats the part that would cause the offence. They will make (whether it was meant or not) comparisons with paramilitary groups just because the guy has a shamrock and a gun.

I was at the game on wednesday and a guy sitting behind me was shouting all sorts of sectarian nonsense. The referee was an "Orange b*****d" apparently. I thought these days were disappearing at paradise, but it seems we still have a few idiots in the ranks.

We should use this opportunity (The rangers in div 3) to totally irradicate this kind of mentality from parkhead. The green brigade are brilliant and create 99% of the atmosphere at parkhead, but they should be wiser to banners that give others a chance of complaining about us. Just my thoughts on the matter.

I know we have had really bad long term injuries with Kayal (as usual), Ledley, and Stokes and add to that Samaras, McCourt and McGeough so we are under strength and lack options/experience from the bench.
As a consequence we are going through an inconsistent spell from week to week trying to find our best form.
However, I haven't heard a thing regarding Ibrahim - who arrived with great optimism and has all but disappeared for months? Anyone know what's up?

I thinj it is closer to the cetic figure, the full 15 would be based on winning every game for the full prize money

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed can you help me with this.Talking to a guy going to match last night who was saying we haven,t had a three o clock kick off away from home since 2005
cant believe this but said guy was adamant ,would appreciate your help or from anyone else.

Agree0 Disagree1

Not had many but I am positive last season Dec away to St Johnstone was 1500

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry should have added did he mean sat games only? That's probably true as the St Johnstone game was a Sun but I can't remember when we last had a sat 1500 kick off away from home.

Call me a pessimist but i cant see us getting another point until we play our last game v Spartak. Hopefully they are not on 5 points or more and at least we will have a chance at Europa league. 4 really really tough games ahead. We will do well to get anything from any of them.

Joeshmo1888

Believable7 Unbelievable13

Come on Joe mate, we managed to keep last nights game tight with two players playing out of position and with various injuries to first teamers.

I fully expect minimum of four points from the Spartak game and what did benfica shoa last night that puts us in fear of going there?

Our remaining matches will be similar to last nights,barca excluded, so with the players returning and the confidence gained from wholly matching benfica last night I do not see why we can't claim second in the group.

That's our SIXTH euro clean sheet in a row with miku still blending in, Ambrose to get blooded, kayal,ledley,Sammy and Stokes to return all in all id say we have every right to be optimistic about progressing. Just my opinion though I hope it's shared by the majority of fans.

Our euro campaign has only just begun, not ended with a draw against Portugal s best(one of anyway) who were quarter finalists and regular participants in europes elite competition.

Jamie Mac(his glass is half full)

Agree0 Disagree0

Isnt it 4 euro clean sheets in a row? helsinki scored at celtic park

Agree0 Disagree0

I was of the same opinion until when we had a full squad, but I thought last night was as good as we could ask with all the injuries and form dips of certain players. We are in a terrible group compared to others, but as a 'pot 4' team, we were always onto plumbs. The other teams will take points off each other and we have to realistically aim for 3rd place, hopefully with some of our big players coming back soon?

21 games at Fortress Parkhead in champoins league against the likes of AC Milan, Man Utd, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Benfica, Juventus, Lyon, Porto, Villareal and only Barcelona have beaten us.

Agree1 Disagree0

Its not the past we are concerned about mate. Its the next 2 home games which we care about. Previous means nothing {Ed007's Note - I agree but it is a good stat to have in today's 'stat-soaked' game. It shows the team is difficult to break down and beat at home. I would guarantee that most of the 'bigger' clubs in Europe would like to have a similar record.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Did Arsenal not beat us?

A draw was not the best result, but we were missing some big players. We played well in spells - Commons was excellent when on the ball, Brown finished the game the strongest player on the park (amazing considering he is carrying an injury) Mathews looked at ease at this level, Hooper and Miku looked good together last 15mins. Big Vic was strong in phases. Although Izzaguirre, for me, struggles when he can't overlap and so cuts inside - often running into danger and causing problems. I don't think its a coincidence he played all his best stuff with Ledley in front of him (just my opinion). He could have cost us on another night.
Since the draw was made, Spartak Moscow were our realistic target IMO. We can still finish 3rd. Hopefully we can play as well in Moscow as we did in our 2 away qualifiers.................kbt1978

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Brown and Vic were awesome, Izzy a liability and Wee James was a passenger sadly. Overall a solid, professional performance by a hugely inexperienced team at CL level. Well done Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the OP i agree with most of your points but please to say hooper and Miku looked good together im afraid i have to disagree, i was sat in the jock stein lower and in my opinion hooper is way off the pace dont know why but he just seems to have lost the spark. Miku looked not bad and give him a few more games could be good i will wait and see. Still what an atmosphere last night and at end of day not a disaster after all. Bad luck to our nextgen team as well last night.

The Happy Turnkey

Agree0 Disagree0

Think I'd move izzy to left midfiled. He is good at going forward and has bee poor defending for a while. surely there is a decent left back out of contract at the moment

Agree0 Disagree0

Would'nt have said this about a year ago, but we badly missed big sammy, he's like a different player out left and running at teams

I enjoyed that match last night. More of a 80's battle rather than purist football, but still good to watch. Both teams didnt create much but I take a lot of confidence from that game that we could sneak a couple of points away from home. Benfica in the ranking are way ahead of us be we bossed them in midfield. Wamyama was class and Brownie put in a brilliant captains performance, he has a lot more football in him than people give him credit for.
I agree Forrest is going through a bad patch but once we get Sammy and Ledley back on the left side and push Charlie back to left back due to Izzy being poor it should give Forrest a bit more space on the right side. Forrest had to contend with 2 men on him for most of the night but I agree when he loses the ball he should be trying to get it back rather than hands on head pose. Thinks will get better.

Hi ed
I remember mcgeady being benched for a legnthy spell and it made him a better player as he reliesed tht to get on the park he had to work maybe forrest needs that on the other hand benfica must have pin pointed him as a danger.
the y had two or three players marking him at times and izzy should have been his over lap which we never saw once broony big vic showed there class. Matthews massive player it gave me hope seisome of the performances lst nyt
