Wanyama badly needs a rest as does hooper and no doubt efe. give the young guns a chance for at least a couple games. a thot the wk in Spain would have been enough obvsly not. against ict who wer sitting 2nd the ones that came in we're superb.

Believable10 Unbelievable8

Wanyama needs a rest. yes
hooper needs a transfer. what he wants. and its starting to show.
defenders are doing his job.

Agree2 Disagree0

Efe just did a gruelling tournament all the way to the end. Give him a break, hooper, big vic. 19 points ahead, I think risking dropping points is fine against bringing guys through. More first team time for Watt.

Agree1 Disagree0

The ones coming thru are more than capable of winning games. those players def need to be rested for the double hail hail

Agree1 Disagree0

If they don't they could crash in for the next fortnight.

Agree0 Disagree0

They need a rest? Wanyama is 21. Hooper is 24. they'll need a rest when they hit 30+ they're paid thousands to perform and they've had a winter break. I play rugby a contact sport and went almost 2 years with out break because I changed codes at a professional level and I was still able to retain my fitness levels and perform.

Rugbys got no comparison altogether with football hence the reason it is so boring and hardly anyone speaks of it.
You aren't here on this to justify if players need a rest or no (Chad) rest is vital towards professionals especially footballers and 45 games so far this at high intensity they deserve more than a break for there performances!

Agree0 Disagree0

I was comparing the fatigue and bodily damage through games not the sports. And the posts says they both need rest, which is what I'm commenting on. Of course rest is vital and they had the winter break as a rest period. I have no complaint towards either player as they have been good servants to the team. But there performances have dropped in the last few games I've watched which I believe ISN'T down to fitness. When you look at teams in the Blue square premier lower and just higher each player will play the same if not more games as these players and you can argue that it's not the same pace or intensity but the SPL and the other teams in the league aren't far of league 1 standards.

Chad

Agree1 Disagree0

This is a non debate. Hooper Wanyama and Efe all want to play in EPL. How tired would they be going away to the likes of Stoke, Everton or Sunderland week in week out let alone the top 4. What with ACON for Vic and Ambrose too, they should have more than enough in their tank for it. Our so called world beaters need to get on with it. Daviebhoy77

After several poor performances early season last week against juve and then little influence on last nights game I think maybe lenny should be giving James Forrest a wee spell with the under 21s and put his faith in tony watt more, Forrest is to reminiscent of mcgeady before he left. One had skill and trickery then, one has pace and trickery now, unfortunately both have the same final outcome, poor final delivery, little penetration and no where near involved enough in games to warrant a place ahead of other players. Also think mulgrew could do with some bench time as gone of the pace and set pieces not the quality of last season, we have the depth and strength so come on lenny use it. Hail hail

Believable14 Unbelievable10

Spot on, if I only performed in my job 10 wks a yr on £10k pw ad be sacked.

Agree0 Disagree0

What a pile of sh*t about James forrest, the wee man has had a poor run with injuries & has been trying to find match fitness slowly instead of being thrown in unfit as we saw against the cheating Italians. Best Scottish talent by a mile, you don't know your a*se fae your elbow. AbS

Agree1 Disagree1

Couldn't agree more. I think Forrest is going down the Andrew Driver route of starting off well and not improving one bit. He's a man down.

Anton

Agree1 Disagree0

He has been injured too much and is struggling to get back to anything near hir first season. I think he was relied upon far too much last season and the fitness issues and poor form is a result.
I hope he is not the next Jamie Smith?

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

A agree with the op tbh iv never really rated wee forrest that highly imo he's fast that's it he wil go past the odd playere here and ther and his final ball is shockin he always looks 2 cut on his left foot for sum reason and he can't track back and defend juve was a prime example ano it was against a far superior team than he's use 2 but he was a ghost the full game and a don't use injuries as an excuse a just honestly don't think he's good enough will prob get slated and people won't agree but all entited 2 our oppinion

Agree0 Disagree1

Pull the breaks on abs, the guy is giving his opionon yes Forrest has talent but he ain't showing it enough. at the best the now he should be no more than a sub.

Agree0 Disagree0

Abs that is some way to talk to someone who has a different opinion from you. James Forrest is now starting to believe his own hype, he very rarely goe's past a maqn, he throw's his hand's up in the air when he's tackled and he very seldom track's back, Tony Watt for me is a better talent than him
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree1

Ffs wee james has been oput injured for a while, wait for him to get to match fit & get his sharpness back, to quick to judge!

Agree0 Disagree1

Forrest won't be rested, Lennon will keep bringing him on till he's match fit, then when he starts a game he won't leave the side till the end of the season. Thank christ some of the "experts" on here aren't picking the team honest to god you really don't have a clue. There are 3 or 4 others you could have went after before Forrest who has only just got back from injury. He made his come back against Ross County (December 22nd) off the bench with 20 mins to go and scored but he got injured either in that 20 mins or during that week in training. He was out till (February 3rd) when he come on against Raith Rovers and again scored! He played against Juve, one of europe's finest only 9 days later and didn't have a great game, surely after being out so long he can be forgiven for not having a blinder. He was then on the bench and got on at the end against Dundee Utd. Same again against St. Johnstone and got on at the end. Seriously, do you even watch the games or just read match reports from the DR?

He will again, once up to speed with his match fitness prove he is one of our best and most important players. Attacking wise we are just not the same team without a fit James Forrest.

The idea of putting him in the u21 team, possibly affecting his morale and confidence is not a bright idea. Playing U21 football isn't SPL/Champions League football, the only way of getting him back up to speed is to do what we have been doing with Izaguirre. Play him till his form and fitness returns. It appears to finally be working with Izaguirre aswell going by his last 3 performances.

Agree1 Disagree0

Guys forest just got back and has had a couple of games, he has put in good shift at times just disappears in the game. Give him more time no point sending him down when he is better then the youths and needs real matches to get back to shape, while others rest he might get more game time and be a big impact again

Agree0 Disagree0

I always see this same talk on here, especially when a player has come back from an injury. I seen a lot of people agreeing that Izaguire was finished when he came back 'not the same player' and all that talk, which is absolute nonsense, in his last few matches he has been looking back to his best, playing some real quality football.

Give the lad time, he'll be back torturing defenses in a month or two.

Once Jamesy starts playing well again and is back to his full fitness, it'll all go quiet in here yet again.

Have a bit of foresight lads, for godsake.

Quack

Agree0 Disagree0

Yous all talk mince! A couple of weeks ago I seen a lot of peoples post praising the team. no mentioning names but yous know who yous are, contadicting everything you say etc one bad game against the saints and the wich hunt is on. get a grip and support your team, not just when they are winning! The team have played double the amount of games compaired to the rest of the spl, fatigue and a loss of sharpness was due. if u know footie u will know that! Get off the wee mans back, again singing their praises a few weeks back now going against them. footie fans are soo fickle!

Agree0 Disagree0

So fickle where in my post did I slate the team I put forward my opinion on James Forrest, I stick by that opinion. To the guy that ask's do I read the DR report's, no I WATCH Celtic, you should watch James, my observation's are on him last year and this, will say again in my OPINION Watt is a better option
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

It's fine for Forrest to be given games to get his match fitness back, but against Juve was maybe not the place for it. He didn't kick a ball all night, yet played the full 90. I have said in the past that Izzy plays better when Samaras is not in the team, as he is able to go down the wing, but Samaras hugs the line and there is no where for Izzy to go except inside. Co-incidence that some of you are saying that Izzy has played well the last three matches. Who is missing?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not about having a different opinion tambhoy, the wee man has been injured a spell in the under 21 team was posted? Why would that help when he has struggled with injury? AbS

Agree0 Disagree0

Forrests game is that of a winger. Causing danger with his pace and skill down the wings, beating players, getting the cross in and bringing that wee bit of something different. I think he has great vision and can also score goals. Benfica paid him that much respect if you all remember right, they had 2 defenders on him most of the time at Celtic Park.

His weakness is putting tackles in but he only really broke into the Celtic team last season and we relied on him heavily at the time. In my opinion, I reckon he’s one of the most exciting talents to come out of Scottish football in a wee while, he can hold his own at European and International level no problem.

Neil Lennon has a lot of faith in him and that’s good enough for me. He’s yet to be proven wrong yet with his faith – Fraser Forster, Samaras?

If Forrest was in any other SPL team, he would be one of the names on here every transfer window as a target.

I’m just glad he plays for the team I support ~ Mrs E

Agree3 Disagree0

Spot on as per Mrs E. AbS

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry Abs have to disagree with you, not goingt into debate about it, all I will say is watch him, then come back and tell me if I am wrong.
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you Mrs E all I am saying, is he should forget all the hype and just play to his strength's

Just a thought last season we lost less goals in the league, a lot of people think the defence with efe and kelvin is great but last year with charlie and thomas we did better I know they were great against Barcelona but we have conceded a lot of silly goals this year. I am not as convinced as everyone that this is a solid foundation to move to the next level in europe any comments

Believable7 Unbelievable5

I'll believe what ever Lennon think is right not people who think they know better

Agree0 Disagree0

I think they had a shaky start specialy kelvin but I don't see us shiping a lot of goals between now and end of season with their form now hitting their stride

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its efe, not blaming him for anything I just don't think he is as good as people or lenny makes out. I feel since he has joined we have looked really shaky in defence, his decision making isn't the best, over complicates things in the wrong areas of the park and the rest of the defenders are suffering because of it. its the same defence as last season except ambrose, mulgrew and wilson should be our defence as mulgrew offers hee haw in midfield except a delivery and at times its not good enough. I'm not having a go at the bhoys they have performed excellently this season in champs league but think back to the games in the league we have lost points in, who lost the ball or gave it away or didn't do their job properly?

Agree1 Disagree0

Feel ambrose is always likely to cost us a goal but Wilson has came on a great deal playing next to him at the same time.

@1 why do you even venture on to pages like this? Every post, more or less, contains an opinion including YOURS.
Why be such a bell?

Jamie mac

Agree0 Disagree0

I also think it's efe but I think we could also get someone better than kelvin. efe also looks like he's taking everything too easy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know Big Forster is a great shop stopper and has saved a few penalties too. But I don't think he commands his area or handles crosses confidently at times.
I agree Ambrose is too casual by far and has not learned from early mistakes where he tries to beat his man in dangerous areas.
He has cost us a good few goals.
Rogne has lost momentum with injuries etc and maybe Gershon might be the answer as I see Efe is touting himself?

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Both have pace, power and good in the tackle. However both are prone to lapses in concentration.

But the 3 in midfield is always going to expose your CH when they give the ball away. Our full backs spend most of the time playing as wingers.

Its the way we play that exposes them. They are young and may become better in that system.

P

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't rate mulgrew or rogne as a centre half. I think rogne is far too rash and you can tell mulgrew ain't a natural centre half. efe and wilson are our best two by far. we are a very attacking team especially in the spl so we will lose goals as we leave ourselves exposed. we've been different class in europe so i'd be trusting these two. we need a better centre back as cover though

mk bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

TBH I am not sure about this whole Mulgrew and Izzy both playing. LB and Midfield etc etc but I BELIEVE in NL and trust HE is the one doing the best for the team and the fans. We can all make comments and that's fair enough, no CFC fans no CFC, get that. However NL is the one charged with making these decisions and he sees these lads day in/day out training, attitude, level of enthusiasm, would anyone here make a better decision? I am all for comments and recommendations but let's keep positive and remember no 2 games are alike let alone 2 seasons so there isn't really a need for these statistics. We are CFC through and through and NL is one of us. HE will do right for us, its not a job for him like other managers think, its NL's LIFE! SB

Peter lawell to man utd? What do u guys think! pedro

Believable11 Unbelievable20

Lawwell has been linked to man utd/man city &'arsenal

Does a fantastic job for us but only a matter of time

Lenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Let us hope and pray that he stays for a long time. He would probably be as close to irreplaceable as you get.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not he's the only guy from Celtic that would get his place at Old Trafford, he's a class act.

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting. Mr Lawwell is indeed well respected in his field but Manchester United have the cache to Globally hunt the very best in this field. This is in no way a slight on Mr Lawwell. I also think that at his age and the fact he is very much the top man at Celtic, allied to the fact he is a supporter, I think he might be happy where he is. I would hope so as he does a great job for us. Your thoughts ED007?. green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

If we loss Peter Lawell it will be like losing, Hooper, Wanyama, Brown and Lenny all at once. That is how highly I rate this man
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think he will be going any where for awhile for I think we might get our chance in the near future to leave spl. If its epl or some other big money league, the idea is being more welcomed with mixing outher leagues and clubs and pl will want to stay for we could go to the next level with all other big clubs I Europe.

can anybody tell me why there is so many problems regarding juventus tickets! why are the italians causing so much hassle, first it was your name on ticket and now, i'm hearing the italians want addresses of all travelling fans {i was emailed yesterday by my contact for tickets to supply my details } I can honestly say I have travelled to many many european games be it friendlies to last 16 and never had this hassle before, i'm travelling with Harry Hynds travel and I fear what's greeting me when we step off plane, my only comfort is Hynds travel are putting on buses from airport to hotel and also to game and return. can anybody shed any light on why security is so so tight please

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Just be careful mate. having been to the last Juve v Celtic it was horrendous. The police turned a blind eye to everything and the waiter in our hotel told us to stick to groups of TEN upwards! There is a bar doing a big Celts theme so hopefully it will be cool. can't understand the ticket thing though, local police regulations maybe?. green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

GJ, if it's as bad as made out ( I don't for one minute doubt it btw) then why don't the relevant footballing authorities launch full enquiries? Quick enough to pull up for certain singing, us letting off flares but ignore crowds, poor security measures of the bigger clubs. Not holding my breath right enough, it would get the same treatment no doubt that the atrocious refeering got last week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barry; the problem is the Italian Ultras, the amount of input they have in clubs is frightening. At lots of clubs the leaders of these groups have free reign to wander in and out of training complexes! This is achieved through intimidation and the sheer force of numbers they have. This in turn leaves the police knowing we will go home, they dont. green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

BARRY THE JANNY

thanks for the heads up guys, i'm not planning in straying too far from hotel, and will take all advice welcome. on another note we don't treat visiting fans like this so why we get it is beyond me. any ideas

Agree1 Disagree1

Not sure if i'm excited or apprehensive about this trip. probably a bit of both haha. never knew about the address on the ticket? when I picked mine up it was still just the name? GJ a lot of people I know are staying in milan to try and avoid any trouble.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe they know how many travel to watch Celtic and they think if we make it hard on the fans they won't turn up and Celtic will be worse without the fans there. Juve are afraid!

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a nightmare the last time we were there, herded about like cattle outside the ground and in city centre, total alchol ban in pubs, bars, cafes etc etc then inside the ground pelted with rotten fruit, vegetables, stones, backs of seats, plastic bottles with water and other liquids all this while the local peelers stood in full riot gear with shields held above there heads, batons drawn and facing us and let the juve fans continually throw missiles at us.
davy

Agree0 Disagree0

Think it depends on the team watched us in the San Siro and had no problems but also watched Roma play and had to supply all my details and take passport to the match to tally up with my ticket

Agree0 Disagree0

You will probably find most of the pubs will be closed too, but everything will be fine, don wander about alone though. jj

In a season littered with strange games last nights surely was the weirdest yet? First half we tore them to ribbons, 5-6 goals up would not have flattered us, and played with great pace and intensity to steamroller them.
Second half? started well then seemed to drop off, lost focus and passed pretty sloppily. Credit to St Johnstone though they seemed to up their energy and fed off our hesitation. Even then they still never really caused us much trouble in open play, obviously set plays were a different matter!
Being honest, I could not see anything wrong with either of their goals, as I thought Matthews to Commons was a goal, but not having seen it on TV I reserve judgement. As someone pointed out there did not seem to be much protesting from the Saints players, so who knows.
Some fans were giving Lenny a bit of stick last night, not me. I think the display in the first half justified his selections. A bit more clinical and we would have cruised it out and freshened up with substitutions. We do however need to start closing games out. We still look vulnerable at 1-0 when teams up their effort and that needs to be addressed. Maybe we did play to many players who played on Saturday, some were looking a bit leggy late on, but it should have been over by half time, let's not forget that. green jhedi

Believable4 Unbelievable0

First time poster, thought lasts nights result wasn't that much of a suprise personally when i seen the team, stokes benched after scoring 2 at wknd, and lassad starting before watt, i think that its time lenny started to show more confidence in some younger players instead of persisting with out of form ones. forrest to me is one dimensional, he has pace and that's it, he seldom brings much to a game anymore, juve last week for example, he reminds me a lot of mcgeady in final season, one had skills and tricks, one has pace but unfortunately there final ball and delivery is to often v poor, watt has pace, more direct, better vision and more potent goal scorer, show some faith in the bhoy lenny. hail hail, god bless the celtic+

Agree0 Disagree0

Watched it on tv ALBA last night and we played well first half and their 'Keeper had a blinder all night. The team tired as you say and our shots at goal became less and less. 1-0 was always a dodgy lead in that case.
They also had a perfectly good goal disallowed and Wilson could have been red-carded for retaliation so we were lucky.
I'm concerned about Hooper as he is having another 'drought' and maybe needs a 'rest' with Stokes and Watt available?
I am not a Forrest fan either as he seems to be going backwards after much promise - especially when you see what McGinn is doing up the road at Aberdeen - Anyway.
Even with the hated black socks! It was another point on the road in the title.
