My father in law lives just outside Rotheram and has been a season ticket holder there for years. He says word down there is Le Fondre heading to Glasgow on Monday for medical at Rangers. He says its common knowledge down there. £450,000. We,ve missed out on a cracker at that price. He is a goal machine.

Believable4 Unbelievable12

Rangers fan here, I posted on here earlier in regards to the Adam Le Frondre links with Rangers being total speculation and wishful thinking on the Rangers Rumour page asthere has been no other sources to indicate Rangers interest. I do hope you're correct though. I thought you guys had been watching him for 2 seasons now though? My money would have been on him signing for Celtic.

Question is though, is he good enough for either of our clubs? He is a proven goalscorer in lower leagues but is he not lazier than Kris Boyd? lol. {Ed007's Note - Rangers have got no interest in ALF what so ever. As far as I know they are not even scouting him, the first bid will probably start a snowball effect and Rangers know they can't even get in at the bottom end of the bidding.}

Agree0 Disagree0

You're correct, Ed. It's primarily, if not all wishful thinking and speculation from Rangers fan point of you. We've no interest at all on any official level. My comments were more in response to the original poster.

2 the ppl saying adam le fondre isnt gd enough because he isnt internationaly recognised,,,,we got hooper from Scunthorpe and look how well he is doing,,le fondre is the type of player we nd 2 get with our limited funds

BodieBhoy88

Believable8 Unbelievable2

I would take le fondre(£500,000/1M)but youve gotta mind hooper came from second tier ALF plays in 4th tier

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not the 'type' of forward we need at all man we need someone with a different dimension to hooper and stokes. i'm happy enough with those two starting. they have a great awareness and understanding and can both score. what we need is someone to come of the bench away from home and hold the ball up well, be good in the air and add a bit of muscle. that means a target man. plain and simple.

Ed007 just read that Rangers are in negotiations with Fox Network to show games in america. I understood no individual club can do this as it has to be sanctioned by all premier teams. Have Rangers found a loophole or are they just testing the waters, because Celtic should be doing this also. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - Not sure TBH mate, I will try to find out.}

Believable1 Unbelievable5

If they cant do it how do man utd, liverpool and chealsea all have there own shows?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate if you could do it Celtic would already be doing it . Peter Lawell has been trying to exploit the U. S Market for years . Remember we used to go to Disney Wide World Of Sports when we had the winter break . So rest assured if it was that easy we would be doing it .
CelticMatt

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares? it'll either go two ways - it lasts a season before FOX realises it isn't a good investment or it'll be a success and celtic tap a similar loophole and gain more money from having a larger fan base out there.

believe me, they ain't gonna get millions of viewers just because they have bocanegra in their team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dunnon I live in Korea last year and on there sports channel they just showed every celtic league game no others only other games they showed were boltons and man utds they only showed these games cus of the koreans playing in there teams

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think they can. Celtic tried to do it a few years ago by negotiating games to be shown in Japan when Nakamura was playing with us but were told any money made had to be split among all the other SPL teams. It is written in to the SPL rules, you are not allowed to negotiate your own TV deals.

Hi ed is the game on sky 2moro? I know the Saturday home game don't be. Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note - For legal reasons BIM we can not condone or recommend any sites that stream football. If anyone wants to posts links I am more than happy to post them, but it is not our responsibility.{

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Here is the best site in the world for Scottish fitba. Have to pay for it but at £30 a year it a steal. I watched the Sion game last wek and the St Johnstone game yesterday. None of this p2p rubbish, great streams for every match every week. streampro.tv

I see Le Fondre scored again today thats 4 in 4 for the lad.
Wasn't convinced at first that he was for us but with his current form, his asking price and our current situation I think he could do the job for us, at SPL level if nothing else.

People are trying to panic buy because of one result. Please bhoys remain calm, I'm sure that there will.be further signings but don't panic buy and.end up with a player who is not Celtic quality like Adam le fondre

Adam Le Fondre is not good enough for Celtic. we need a recognised striker, international, good scoring record and we need to spend several million, not thousands. i for one hope this does not happen

Believable3 Unbelievable12

I aggree lets try get messi .
mate they times are gone sadly theres no money to be made in scottish football hence y there no big fee players to be signed . especially no european football as well wont help matters .
daviebhoy08

Agree0 Disagree0

We can't afford a recognised international striker that's why we need to look at players like this. Some fans need to get real with their expectations.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish.le fondre would run riot up here.hooper wiz not internationally recognised n he has been excellent.got international players like samaras.he proves thats not the b all and end all

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate I wld luv 2 c a multi-million pound, proven striker but lets b honest - aint goin to happen.
board r more interested in limited debts than whats on park. Everytime we have the opportunity to pull away from that mob we let them back in, the present board has learnt nothing over last 3 seasons.
spare me the dross as well about limited funds, we have a billionaire owner who unfortunately is far detatched from the rank and file. By tossing in a half season keane here and there does not cut it with us. No doubt he'll think we'll all b happy with Bellend - NO.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you should waken up we dont have millions to spend also larrson/lubo never cost millions bargains are out there you just need to search to find them

Agree0 Disagree0

Samaras is an international striker, he has got 6 goals in 46 international games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Le fondre has an eye for goal and not evin a million pound, we payed 2 for samaras n he is rotton, ad rather hav a boy thats gona play to win that a greek that is to worried about messing up his hair than winning

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a Celtic diehard. But you need to get in the real world. The days of spending millions on players and getting international players are well gone. Each year the gap in class is getting wider between the SPL clubs and the rest of Europe. Its us the fans who are suffering with the money that is in footy now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic should resign scott mcdonald and buy adam le fondre great play and wouldnt cost much and as much as i love neil lennon if he doesnt win the league he wont get a new contrat simple and i hate at how long celtic take to sign players you can see from that sion game we need a striker badly

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Neil has explicit;y stated that failure to win the league this season may well lead to him losing his job. He is obviously held back by the fiscal matters. Celts really need to off load the squad players who will never make it. Their names have been oft mentioned here
I also think that any further investment in the team will depend on advancement in Europe and events across at our only other rivals for the league.
Tis lawells way

Agree0 Disagree0

They say u shld never return to a club but personally mcdonald wld do a turn. proved it in europe as well. whether its the right combo with hooper is a different matter altogether. stokes will get goals in spl but europe? samaras shldnt even still b there. not one for booing but understand why it happens. I hate using the word "enigma" but him and mccourt for that matter fall into that category. All too often we get an unplayable game then embarrassment the next game. Samaras for all his attributes just fails to deliver - height, pace etc but single fig goals tally - poor. mccourt - flatters to deceive, guilty of being the greedy boy with the ball - simple pass son. i wont deny he's skillful but can anyone really say he's the answer if thrown in for a sustained period. I'll no doubt get slated for this but dont think so. A faroes here, st mirren there - wow

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont fully agree mate your bang on with SAMARAS n0 9 should be hitting back of net more often but MCCOURT has never been given a chance in team over 3 seasons by that i mean starts. judge him when you see him START 15-20 games on row(and iam not buying hes not fit,if so why does he make bench majority of time)cmon lenny give him a few starts and get maloney OUT

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2011 17:29:26
I think celtic are needing to start signing if we are going to go to the group stages we should have one that game that adam le fondre looks great and will cost celtic hardly anything we need to spend to improve and if celtic starts to sell our best players we wont win the league simple we should get rid of sameras hes rubish he has had one good game thats it hes not good enough to play for celtic and we need to get rid of a few plays

We NEED to sign Adam Le Fondre There is rumours on the manky mobs page that Sally's interested too. Get Le Fondre, a big target man and left back on loan and the league is ours.Get the cheque book out Liewell. Le Fondre just scored again Could link up brilliantly with Hooper

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Totally agree.le fondre coming from the same level as hooper.would do a good job, would get goals n wont cost a fortune.definately worth a gamble.lets get in there quick n get a deal done

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers fan here, Adam Le Fondre being linked to Rangers is purely wishful thinking and speculation from fans on the Rangers Rumours page and has been for weeks. That's all, at this point. No interest from Rangers FC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's sign rigg from port vale instead he'd be a great signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you kidding mate,Sean Rigg has scored 5 goals in about 30 games,in the English 2nd division not exactly prolific.MACCA

Agree0 Disagree0

What has anthony stokes done wrong lately? why would ALF be brought in to partner hooper? i do agree that another goalscoring striker is required, id say two strikers are required actually but would not be dropping stokes as he is our most in form striker at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

McCourt poised to leave, rassmusen set to join him.lenny looking to sign mcfadden as replacement and mcdonald as back up for hooper...alotta speculation surounding kayal and ki hope it isn't true but Reading between the lines on what lennys been givin it this week it's looking likely 1if not both will leave, ffs, who we'd replace them with I do not know.....

Believable2 Unbelievable9

Lenny has not said they will leave so calm down. None of the two of them will leave - not in this window anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest if we got a fee for both id welcome it, maybe just me i dont know, not sure either are first team starting players, johnny, anyone else welcome their departure?

''Georgio Samaras was only offered a new 3 YEAR deal incase Celtic didn't get a fee for him''

LOL

Why would anybody pay anything for Samaras, if that was the case he would have been offered a smaller contract extension, nobodys willing to pay any kind of decent fee for Samaras, Neil Lennon rates him along with duds like Paddy McCourt & Scott Brown players that can't really make an impact against any decent team or when it matters. Face it people you're stuck with Samaras, Browns getting a new contract (somebody who rarely scores, can't tackle without giving away a foul and can't pass).

Believable6 Unbelievable9

I think all teams have to protect their investments. Nobody wants to see big money buys walkin out the door for nothing at the end of their contracts. DUFC did it with goodwillie, Rangers sold Bougherra because he wouldn't sign a new deal and gave whittaker a big contract so he didn't go for nothing next season. Scott Brown cost alot of money as did Samaras, clubs can't afford to let them leave for little or no money. In many ways agents and players have clubs over a barrel when there contracts are coming to an end.

Mark

Agree0 Disagree0

This from a guy who's team consists of broadfoot, mcculloch, laugherty, edu, ortiz, etc etc lol

Sammy got a new deal, as it covers a euro championship and world cup. if he impresses there, he'll be sold

Believable3 Unbelievable11

Was this from the article in the Daily Mail by any chance where they stated McLeish had scouts watching him at thursday nights game, even though Kayal wasn't actually playing in that game due to injury?

Hi ed. What do you think of Santa cruz? I think we need more firepower upfront and fast like if anything happens stokes and hooper we are screwed. Big Samantha is shocking. Bobo balde has scored more goals against rangers than him. I think we should sign an experience goalkeeper to push frazier foster for the No.1 jersey Lenny must have no faith in zaluskas after dropping him after a man of the match display against Dundee although he was shaky. Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note - Santa Cruz, if possible, would be a good punt BIM. As for Forster, although he was NLs main GK target, I was surprised to see him start the other night.}

Believable3 Unbelievable10

Hopefully not. he's as slow as a week in the jail

Hey ed what do u think of spurs Sebastian bassong reading he's available for 2 million surely that's a bargain..... he would give u peace of mind at the back {Ed007's Note - Again the wages would be a major stumbling block.}

tim matavz is probably the best value pound for pound striker in europe just now that would possibly come into our price range. we would probabaly get him for 5 million and within 2 /3 years probably be able to sell him on for 12-15 million easy. he is very young and proven at international level already. would score a abag ful in spl no sweat. at least the guy is courageous as well unlike big samantha that we are playing up front at the moment

Believable13 Unbelievable3

We tried to sign him in January but he rejected the move because there was a chance of a transfer to Napoli, they tried to do a deal but it did not get completed before the end of the window but they were expected to come back in for him this summer only it hasn't happened, don't know if the board would sanction his signing now but they certainly were willing to part with the cash for him earlier in the year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think 7M was what Napoli were offering for him.

Celtic source revealed that striker Georgio Samaras was only offered a new three year deal at the end of last season to avoid Celtic losing out on a potential transfer fee for the player.

Beram Kayal wanted by Aston Villa. Bolton got a £2million bid knocked back in June with Celtic looking nearer the £5million mark and anybody who says he's worth more get real, if an English team pays £2million for SPL players it's a surprise. They expect to get them for £200k.

Alot of s**te in my opinon but just passing on what i read

Believable3 Unbelievable9

As bad as the scottish league is......which i kniow its not up 2 scratch,.... but surely if jordan henderson(the lad that only played 20 games last season) is worth 20 mill then surefly kayal, ki are in that bracket aswell, both internationalists and doin well for club and country....just because we north of the border shouldnt mean they should pay league 1 prices??

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree. The prices offered for SPL players are ridiculous. Year after year the SPL's best performers and prospects are robbed by the PL for chump change. There seems to be a maximum 3 million transfer limit for any SPL player. Even compared with championship offers our prices are incredibly low. David Goodwillie, Steven Fletcher, James McCarthy, Christophe Berra, James McCarthur, Alan Hutton - all promising young players in the SPL and they cost about the same as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who scored 10 goals in 41 appearances in league 1, albeit as a winger. The only way things will change is if all SPL teams start demanding higher transfer fees but with the current dire financial position of most clubs this won't happen.

This rumour came from the Daily Mail and was "after McLeish watched him play against FC Sion."

Eh... Just Naw

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic aren't looking for any money for kayal as he's not for sale.

Agree0 Disagree0

If a Premiership team pays £2m for a SPL player it's a surprise ?, likes of Cuellar, Petrov & Hutton have went for 4 times that.

Agree0 Disagree0

If villa want kayal then they should stick a 1 in front of there previous bid in otherwords 12 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Kayal didn't play against fc sion as he's injured

Agree0 Disagree0

Epl fees 35million for andy carroll. 10 mill charlie adam. by these fees kayals 8 mill at least
