You just know this Ajer story is going to run the entire length of the transfer window with a bid on the last day.

Personally, I think big Ajer is a smashin' player, however with everything that's going on. a bid of £18m with a 10% sell on fee? For me it's a no brainer!

Keep saying he's a good player but not a great defender imo but I would fed keep him off the ten unless silly money gets offered. but let's not get caught with out trousers down Hammond should have a list of cbs or he's no doing his job.

Everybody has their price I wonder how much he is actually valued at Celtic? What annoys me is the comparison between celtic players and celtic targets, just seen a player linked, can't remember his name tho I'm sure he's a pole, 1 cap, valued at 1.5m and looking at selling Ajer for near 20m. I know it's the way celtic conduct buisness but personally I'd would rather have kept big simo. Better the devel you know.

What really was the point in keeping big Simo? doesn't matter if he was better than maldini, he spent the majority of the time in the treatment room.

If simo was half the player maldini was I'd be distraught if we lit him go regardless of how many appearances he managed. Point is who's to say that this guy from Verona, name is to tricky to spell from memory rated at 1.5m could be half the player and just as injury as simo.

So big Ajer has binned the agent that was doing all the mouthing off in the press.
Has he done it because he's staying or has he done it because he's wanting a bigger agent to get a better deal?

{Ed007's Note - That's usually a sign a player wants a move.

{Ed002 - Kristoffer Ajer (CB) Milan see Ajer as a cheaper option to their primary target but funds may not stretch as they look to sell players and buy lower priced alternatives. With other options falling by the wayside, Ajar is of interest to Leicester. Top of the list for Atletico Madrid - but only if they lose a CB - which they are trying to avoid. Previous interest of Spurs, Newcastle and Ajax has moved on}.

Sounds like the once mighty Itals are struggling with their transfer valuations. One day the English will follow suit and then where'll we be?

{Ed007's Note - At the higher levels of the game I think you will see a lot of trading players in the next few windows. Ajax are the most cash rich club in Europe at present due to hefty sales of de Ligt and de Jong - and have money coming in from the sale of Ziyech (whilst getting a really great replacement at one third of the price) - the sale of Onana and Tagliafico (and possible van de Beek) will bring in more.
Manchester United have a pile of cash (which came through increasing debt). Chelsea have their "budget" from last summer and Hazard money. They have the "budget" and already have cash sales for the summer circa £75M. Manchester City are well placed.
Liverpool have this facility with Natwest following their mortgaging all of the assets and could draw on it if needed - but that is not the purpose of it. Arsenal realistically need to sell to buy (and Kia has his claws in to the club). Everton and Aston Villa should be sorting out their FFP issues. Spurs are proving "difficult to deal with" as Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy have differing views on matters (JM very much wants DL to press Lille in to letting Luis Campos leave - but he has something attractive soon to be on the table).
Bayern Munich have funds but don't want to go wild.}

I honestly think this talk of ajer leaving is nothing more than paper talk at best, has he publicly said anything or been quoted to suggest otherwise?
Even if it's true and he does go I don't believe he'll be that much of a miss, he's still a young lad with lots to learn but he's played first team for a few years now so there's no excuses, he's great on his day but far too inconsistent and his positioning is all over the place most of the time, I wouldn't even say he's a centre half he's more of a deep lying defensive midfielder.
With simunovic off I don't expect him to leave unless a real concrete offer does come in but him leaving would be a massive rebuilding job at the back and the way the market is just now i just can't see it.

Thanks for the informative answer Ed. You’re more in the know than I’ll ever be and you’ve educated me with clubs’ finances I wasn’t aware of. For too many years the Netherlands have developed their players far in excess of what we ever have and the like of de Ligt and de Jong bears that out. Getting 75m Euros for a 20 year old tells you a story and the highest we could get is the £23-25m for Tierney. Ajax are in a far better league than our Premiership and we’ll always be playing catch-up even with leagues lower than the Dutch. If the English leagues do implode it’ll probably get to the stage we’ll be scouting talent kicking balls off house walls.

{Ed007's Note - Football finances are a murky world mate but Ed002 is an expert on them and keeps us all right.}

I think Simunovic was always a good bet to leave this summer, but the Ajer speculation is similar to the KT transfer, with the player possibly keen to extend himself at a higher level; so it may leave us for the third season in a row - looking for a new-look back four?
(Maybe even a GK as well if FF goes back) .
Obviously with the season ending early, The Manager, Board and scouting network will have had plenty time to discuss targets, player contract extensions, surplus staff and plan meticulously for the forthcoming 'window'. Knowing how important 20/ 21 is to the club.
