Hi ed just wondering if you or anyone knows anything about Kenji Gorre
Who we have taken on trial, released by man utd

robbhoy {Ed007's Note - Sorry Rob I missed your post sitting waiting and I have been busy all day. I don't know anything about him. I will ask on the Man Utd site, someone on their will know a lot more than me.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kenji has been at United since 11, he has been in and out of the United academy teams, never really made a position his own. He is quite versatile and does show glimpses of class, but consistency is his downfall, well lack of it. I think he could be a decent player for Celtic in a couple of year's time, but he isn't ready yet. Saying that until you test a player no one knows how they will take to it. He isn't a player I would buy, but for a freebie he could end up being a bargain. Like I tell fellow United fans on the United page, players develop at different ages, he is just 18 so he still has plenty of time on his side.

Sydney! {Ed007's Note - Thanks Syd.}

Hi all, I noticed on Sly it had Celtic as signing a Colin McCabe. Was just wondering if anyone knows much about him. I see he is from an Irish team, I'm guessing he's a you lad too. Any info would be great.

Joeshmo1888

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Colin mccabe is a goalkeeper for cavan shamrock or he was till he joined us.

Apparently QPR had to pay Anzi-Machkachkala £12M UP FRONT to sign ex Blackburn defender Christopher Samba!
That puts Norwich's ridiculous 4 'bids' for Hooper into perspective - in fact, they were more akin to rangers 'bid' for Grant Holt from Norwich last year!
Why couldn't they just pay the fee? Have we ever went in for someone 4 times and not got them? Would be interesting if anyone knows.
If Hooper does leave in the summer, we should sell him to anyone but Norwich (if possible) if that's their attitude to Celtic and Scotland.
As Fergie publicly put it 'I wouldn't sell that mob a virus'. . and then Madrid came in and paid the REAL valuation for his player (albeit Ronaldo)!.
Hopefully Lennons recent comments show we mean business in the summer. Pay the rate or F*$k off!
. . . kbt1978

Believable12 Unbelievable2

At 4-5m max in the summer i'm sure there will be more suitors for hoopers services! celticbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he's not worth anymore, if we don't get him to extend he will go for half the offer or walk for nothing we should have took the offer

At least we know if Johnny Russell plays good from now to the end of the season he'll probably be a Celtic player in the summer, be a good singing. Give Stokes a chance I say as well, really hope he starts putting them in the back of the net. Anyone think Hooper should just sign a new deal so Celtic can get 10m+ in the summer if he keeps playing well lol. FifeBhoy1888

Believable6 Unbelievable1

It would make sense for me if he signs a years extention, 30k a week with say a 10m buyout clause. for me that would suit all parties and I honestly can't see why it couldn't be acheived between now and the end of the season.

celticthomas

Agree1 Disagree1

If Hooper really cares for celtic he should sign a new contract which includes a buy out clause that if any premiership club offers say 8 million or more he is free to go. I know he really doesn't owe the club anything but we have gave him the platform to show his pedigree at champions league level.

Agree1 Disagree0

We have indeed given him a platform. . and he has repaid that oportunity with goals. He doesn't have to show the same loyalty to Celtic that any of us would if we were in his shoes. Signing a new contract COULD reduce what he earns in future because a lower transfer fee might mean higher wages for him when he does move. There is no right or wrong answer to a dilemma such as this. There is his opinion, there is our opinion and then somewhere in the middle lies common sense.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary has done great at Celtic and both parties have benefitted. He should sign up and get maximum income up to the summer. He has never said anything bad about the club and speaks well when interviewed after games, normally when he picks up a bottle of bubbly. He will have completed three years in the summer. Laudrup did four with oldco and is considered a legend. Hooper has scored more than him already.

Agree1 Disagree0

You are all talking as Celtic fans.
He wants to play in England. He is English.
Imagine YOU were playing for Fulham, QPR or whoever -would you sign a contract to tie you to a club to do THEM a favour?. . no chance! Hooper is no different.
But WE would all do it for Celtic.
Accept he is leaving, but if he signs a new deal - bonus!
As long as we get the true value when we sell him. . . . . . . kbt1978

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye good luck to gary what ever he decides he has been loyal to us and does not do walking away we will get a half decent price in the summer

Agree0 Disagree0

ChrisBhoy & kbt are spot on. Yes, there is the argument that we offer the profile of CL/Europa lge campaigns but the length of these runs is undetermined. We're last 16 this yr but no guarantee of even getting into group stage next yr such is the difficulty in qualifiers.
EPL games or kilmarnock on a wintry midweek? He's english and wants to play in EPL, no allegiamce to us, no "I always supported them as a kid "a la novo in spain - joke" or badge kissing. Just a guy we paid decent moeny for and done a job he's been paid to do. All the best when he goes as far as I'm concerned. The question for PL is whether to cash in for £4-5m or let him go for free in 2014. Weigh up the possibility of his goals getting us to CL and the riches that brings against a relatively low sale value. Stevo Dundee

Man utd winger kenji gorre is currently tainong with celtic

Skinnybhoy

Believable5 Unbelievable3

He isn't with man united any more. They released him so he's free to go anywhere he likes. He's with Celtic for a week. . but if he ain't good enough for them then he probably ain't good enough for us!

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to disagree chris. sure didn't the release pogba and he looks like he is going to be a superstar at juve. just because he has been released dosnt mean he is no good.

celticthomas {Ed007s Note - Pogba wasn't released Thomas, he refused to sign the contract offered to him after having his head turned by his agent and promises of future fortunes.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Give the boy a chance he s only 18, he was hot property a couple of years ago, maybe a change will spur him on to prove man united wrong, I don't think a week is long enough for a trial personally but hate to see players written off by people when they are so young.
DB77

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm not writing him off. That's why I used the word 'probably'. He's certainly worth a look and every club can make mistakes when releasing players. There have been some notable examples of top players who got the boot early in their career. Step forward one Mr. Gary Hooper (Spurs let him go as a young lad), but in the majority of cases the top clubs get it right much more often than they get it wrong.
Gorre might be one of those exceptions but the stats say he probably won't be.

I will be in Dubai for the Juve game do you know where the Dubai CSC are located.

Cheers
CeltStu

Believable0 Unbelievable7

I was in dubai in 2006 and watched an old firm game in this bar. its a cracker. - THE DUBLINER, Le MERIDIEN DUBAI HOTEL, AL GARHOUND, DUBAI, U. A. E (Tel: 04 282 4040)

Agree0 Disagree0

There is a supporters cub in the 'LA meridia'n hotel next to the airport. I think this bar is called the shamrock. I went to watch a game in there back in 2009 and that was the only place I could find the game in Dubai at that time.

Agree0 Disagree0

All Celtic games are on in the Dubliner CSC, it's in the al bustan rotana hotel near the airport, good atmosphere and good expat locals, but you need to get there early as its small and fills up quick!

Good chance mcgettigans will also show it but it depends on what fans outweigh the others on the night! Mcgettigans is in the bonnington hotel near jumeirah lake!

The crown and lion in the Byblos hotel ( tecom )will also show it but maybe not with sound as they have many tv's showing all the games at the same time! Usually English teams that get the commentary!

Enjoy

Thanks guys much appreciated

I am booked into the al Rotana so sounds perfect.

I'm also moving to Dubai in April so I have now found my new 'local'

I was at the dubai csc a while ago. Was it not the le meridien hotel?

Agree0 Disagree0

The Dubai hoops CSC is located in the dubliners bar in Le Meridian Village.

Bigbhoynow.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a good atmosphere there and you sometimes see the odd ex player showing up. I was there for the 40 year anniversary and Bertie was on great form with some of the other ex players Bhoys just having a good time shooting the breeze. Happy days. Sopotcelt.

The Dubai Hoops are based at Dubliners at the Meridien Hotel opposite Dubai International Airport.

All games shown live.

See you there CeltStu.

Dubai Celt see you there, I am flying over from Muscat on Friday so will more than likely be in the Dubliner over the weekend too.

Just like to say glad we held onto our players, with norwich the only club in for hooper (as far as I am aware) i'm sure he will be firing on all cylinders for the rest of the season to attract some other clubs attention for a summer move which is great for us, and CL matches are no better stage to shine, roll on juve matches now all the madness of transfer window has passed exciting as it is. barry the janny

Keep hearing Kevin thomsons name popping up, I hear he terminated his contract with Borra , have you heard anything ed? he is a free agent & although he once played for the dark side is it true he actually supported the hoops as a bhoy, maybe broony been biting his ear ed, any news on that one {Ed007's Note - Thomson did grow up a CFC fan Barry but do we really need an average 28 y.o. defensive MF player?}

Believable2 Unbelievable10

Every time i've seen him play for boro he has been absolutely hopeless. far from average - he'd struggle to make an impact for them lot these days. kevslug.

Agree1 Disagree0

Barry the janny

dont really rate the guy myself, think he is injury prone, & slow, think he was actually angling for the move himself by sounding out broony , i'm more than happy with our midfielders we have and i'm looking forward too seeing the young aussie get his chance soon too

Agree1 Disagree0

He certainly had something once, but too many injuries must have taken it out of him. Also just as broonie has bought into all the great qualities of our club, Thompson seemed to buy into all the thuggish behaviour on field from the dead parrot team. Pretty sure that like naismith he injured himself trying to foul another player.

Don't want him.

Agree1 Disagree0

No way, this turncoat had his chance and he choose money over "his team".

Hi ed, is the twardzik that signed for Aberdeen anything to do with the boys at Celtic?

KevyBhoy {Ed007's Note - He's their brother.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Are they all brothers Ed, I didn't know that. {Ed007's Note - I wasn't sure but according to the BBC they are:

Well, if the 2 boys at Celtic are brothers. . and the boy at Aberdeen is their brother. . then it's fair to assume that they're all brothers! lol

Just wanted to say my thoughts go out to reamonn gormleys family today, 2 years since he was sadly taken away from all the good he was doing in Thailand and I am sure other places too.

It's fitting that the celtic crest was put onto the reamonn gormley hall at the school of the Thai Tims today, he done such great work over there and his work with those kids is continuing with the other people that were there with him.

God bless reamonn gormley GBNF

Ed, l know its history now but out of curiosity what was the amount of the last bid from Norwich?

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy {Ed007's Note - The total amount with add ons was £6.5 million. None of the bids exceeded an upfront payment of £4.5 million, that is all that Norwich had to bid with, anything else was conditional.}
