Hope for a good game tmr and to get the point we need to go through, and I have a feeling that Lennon has something up his sleeve. Seeing how everyone thinks that our set pieces are trouble I dot think we will use them the same way as we did against barca and that's because benfica are taller. But i think that we will see some set pieces that are more tricky and not just cross the ball in the box but a well planed trick. It kinda feels like there is something special this year with going to Lisbon where it all happened before to go through to last 16, think we may get a deep run in cl and shock the football world some more. Just read the SPL plans for reconstruction. Why are they hell bent on having a system that splits half way through the season? Its as if every idea is based around that sort of system and any which doesnt incorporate some sort of split isnt even taken into consideration.

Why not go for a tried and tested system of say 18/20 teams playing each other twice? The excuse used to be sly wouldnt want to lose 2 celtic v rangers matches per season butthat doesnt even come into play anymore. If the rangers manage to make it into the big league and become successful in the cups then why not introduce some sort of two legged super cup which would still give the tv companies the potential for 6 celtic v the rangers matches per season

Teams like aberdeen hibs and hearts have lost two home games against oldco and are left with only two against us i doubt any of them will vote to reduce that to one

Lets be honest, what ever they do the scottish league is still going to be rank rotten! The only way celtic and scottish league will ever be able to grow will be in this so called atlantic league that has been mooted about.

There should be no SPL and SFL reconstruction until all SPL and SFL clubs reconstruct themselves by spending less than their incomes.
Shall we say two years of appropriate annual accounts?
Most of their boards are incompetent with money. {Ed007's Note - Why should all SPL and SFL clubs have to do that when clubs like Barca, Madrid, Chelsea, Man City, PSG, Anzhi and Zenit don't, along with the majority of teams in the EPL, La Liga and Serie A.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Its all about tv revenue these days the richer clubs are getting richer smaller countries like ourselves find it hard to compete because only ourselves and rangers have the capacity to win the league so its a poor product no ones interested in the spl really we are still small fish all interest is in the epl la liga and the italian league thats were the real money is in the old european cup smaller countries champions had a chance but not anymore as you will notice there are 3 to 4 teams from these countries in the cl getting richer by the year

Speaking with some other Tim pals about Benfica game. It has brought
back memories of I think first big European game I attended. 1969
Celtic 3 Benfica 0 big Tommy Gemmel scored with a rocket shot in first minute then Wallace and Hood both scored. 67,000 at the game.
A pure gentleman in Eusebio in the Benfica side.
Me and my pals in the jungle and so proud to be a Celtic fan. Timalloy

Hate to say it but i fancy benfica tomorrow night..this is their final...weve had a lot of injuries etc BUT theres undoubtedly a confidence now about the bhoys and we have a gameplan for away games in europe...to many ifs and buts if it goes to last game so ive hope in my heart we do the business tomorrow night! HH

Believable9 Unbelievable9

I think this will be a lot harder than the previous games. Benfica are no mugs lets just hope were on the ball and play well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep the faith!

Any team that takes points from your home game will be a challenge away

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will struggle as we do not have a great record in Portugal (apart from Final). It is a must-win for them on their own patch and if wee Aimar is playing, he is class. Added to that - the usual diving and rolling around you get with Portuguese teams and a few dodgy decisions and it all adds up.
Hope I'm wrong. On the plus side we have been impressive away in Europe with Sammy and Vic looking very capable in particular;
With a solid defence and FF at his best we might just get the point we need?
Nerves are setting in already......

What are all your thoughts on Benfica game, some fans seem to think it is a
foregone conclusion we qualify, but if Benfica win they will have same points as us but a better head to head. We need draw minimum. I feel our 0-0 at Celtic Park may come back to haunt us.
If we get beat we will need to get a better result than Benfica on last night. Although they play Barcelona, if they have qualified, they may play some of their younger squad members in Benfica game.
I think our young team have grown up this year in CL but Benfica away will
not be easy. I will take a draw now.
hail hail Timalloy

Believable6 Unbelievable3

As long as we score first - I think we can win the game. Probably 1 nil, though 1-1 would be a brilliant result as well.
Not going to be easy though, but
counter-attacking suits us............kbt1978

Agree0 Disagree0

Benfica will get absolutely nothing in the nou camp. Barca hate when they dont win at home, period. They will beat benfica with ease. Its ours to throw away. I, like yourself fancy Benfica tomorrow night but It will be down to us against Spartak and i think we will beat them and i think in the end we will only have needed a draw. Its last 16 in my opinion. Spartak will be lucky to get a draw against Barca tomorrow night as Barca are on the back of a defeat at Parkhead and will be focused on getting back to winning ways in the CL and getting that defeat out of they're systems.

Just been looking over highlights from the past 6 months and all the big games that have came our way and I would personally like to applaud this player, albeit there is so many big players for us and have earned legend status for there most recent performances against Barcelona and creating one of the greatest results in our history but the one player that I am so happy for is georgios samaras. We all know the guy was made out to be the whipping boy at times and he was so frustrating but in my opinion he has arguably been our best player the last 6 months.
The guy is at the top of his game now and I couldn't believe that he has scored in every one of our away European matches this season. Great acheivment for him personally and I think we can mostly say that we wouldn't be here of it wasn't for him. He got us through the qualifiers and he seems unstoppable when injury free, everyone ok that team have earned our outmost respect and passion but for me the stand out is Sammy, well done big man so chuffed 4 U!

Believable16 Unbelievable7

I agree 100% unsung hero. .H.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has been great and I really never thought he would cut it at Celtic. Looked lazy, uninterested and awful at times but now he has to be on of the first names on the team sheet. Hope he plays a blinder this week

Agree0 Disagree0

Sammy has been superb since being moved out onto the left-hand side.
Neil Lennon and the coaching staff deserve enormous credit for spotting the changes that needed to be made made to the side, in order to release the big mans undoubted potential.
The balance of the side, especially the midfield, needed to be right to get him playing out there - and also a change as a team to a more counter-attacking style - but Sammy has grasped the opportunity with both hands. He is now a first pick.
I fancy him to score tomorrow...............kbt1978

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama is the hero to me, what a player! Sammy still looks uninterested most of the time to me but when he's on form he is a top player.
