A sad end to a fantastic 1940s talent.alas if you don't have the 100% desire in the modern game yu ain't going to get there, fact, ask a. murray. to many should have beens. andy ritchie, charlie nick, james mcfadden, liam miller, paul mcstay, jim mcinally, etc etc etc. al geri. flash in the pan.
Agree0

Eh? Desire? That list of players you rhymed off all had desire, all played at a high, if not top, level. Miller's desire was his downfall, and mcstays only desire was to play football for the club he loved.
Good luck to Paddy, he desires first team football, and I think he deserves it.

I'm sorry but I think some of the comments on here regarding Feruz are shocking. Tommy Burns did an amazing thing by helping him to stay here and he owes him a lot without a doubt, but that doesn't mean staying at Celtic, it means making the very most of the chance he has been given and for most young players these days Chelsea are a far more attractive proposition than Celtic. I was as disappointed as the next person when he left but the people who call him a "traitor" need to get a grip. The fact that he was a refugee should explain his actions. If you came from that background you would take £20k a week instead of £4-5k while you had the chance, and I'm sure TB would have wished him all the best.

Spot on kev. Was just about to post the exact same thing until the page reloaded. Plus, has he been behaving badly at chelsea? {Ed007's Note - His attitude and some of his actions have raised a few eyebrows (and questions) behind the scenes at Chelsea.}

Didn't know that ed. What exactly has the rascal been up to? I just can't see them being that sick of him given earlier this evening I was watching a video on tv of him involved with the first team training earlier today {Ed007's Note - Just his general attitude, out partying etc. He just needs to knuckle down and realise he still has a lot of hard work in front of him before he has actually 'made it'.}
Agree0

I think Chelsea are looking to loan him out at the moment, they have high expectations of him. I think there will be a bit of bitterness amongst us if he goes on to achieve a lot. He's representing Scotland and what he's done at youth level is very promising. The future is bright, Feruz and Watt upfront together.

So tommy burns passes and going to Chelsea is what's good for his career? No Itsabad move for any youngster and most players who have signed for Chelsea! He is a greedy selfish little b*st*rd we shoulda just led him where he was obviously doesn't appreciate the strings pulled for him to get here! 4/5 k is enough for any1 and he's only a boy! Gordybhoy44
Agree0

@Gordybhoy44 I understand SOSBHOY being angry about him leaving etc but we have to remember that he wasn't born a Celtic fan. People who are not brought up to support the club don't understand the passion and pride we feel about Celtic, Feruz falls into that category. He did what he felt was best for him, he may live to regret it or he may flourish but he's no longer here so let's leave him to get on with it and let go of the sheer bitterness some people feel towards him.
Kevbhoy
Agree0

I think some are being a bit harsh on Feruz. Do we think that his decision to move was completely his? Neil Lennon blamed Feruz's agent for getting him to move. No doubt his family would've wanted him to take the bigger wage!
Agree0
Disagree0
He would have been a Celtic first team player and on a new long term deal with better terms by now had he stayed, bad advice and attitude is why he is now being loaned to get him some game time and most probably put him in the shop window for Chelsea to get some kind of fee for him. The boy is a wee ar*hole. He lied about what TB had done for him and everyone in scottish football knew it. He's just a lying ungrateful wee d*ck. My problem isn't even him leaving for Chelsea because when he left I was more pi55ed off with his agent who engineered the move and we got 300k for him which is far from getting nothing. Its his comments regarding Tommy Burns that left me seething. How any Celtic fan can just ignore that is beyond me to be honest. I'm not questioning anyone's allegiances on here just very surprised at him seemingly being forgiven by some of you. At the end of the day your entitled to you opinions on the matter but personally I can't even look at the kids face now as it just reminds me and winds me up.

Kevboy I'm not lying if a club saved me and my family from death as which an asylum seeker is some one or ones seeking safety in a country then I would be for ever gratefull for that help as I'm loyal to people who are loyal to me! Tommy Burns was a man of the most incredible integrity. When he did what he did to help this kid and his family he did it because he thought it was the right thing to do. He didn't do it for praise and he didn't do it on the pre-condition that the kid commited his future to Celtic, he did it because he was that sort of a guy.
Would Tommy be disappointed with how things have developed? Maybe, who knows. I think though that he will most definitely rest in peace in the knowledge that he brought good to a bad situation. That would be enough for Tommy and if it's good enough for him then it's certainly good enough for me.
RIP Tommy, a true legend of our club and a true man among even the biggest of men.

He used to play at Goals in Shawlands during summer. To be fair his whole team were a bunch of knobs, not at all liked by any other teams down there. Generally arrogant and offensive about it despite few of them having any talent. Needless to say the team has since disbanded since he left for Chelsea. I only mention this as despite my own unhappiness at his leaving, none of us understand or know the pressures he was under and with a peer group like his 5's team i'm not surprised he lacks focus.

Ok chris bhoy so tommy burns just happened to randomly help this boy out who just so happened to be the next best thing in football to come to cp but not to play for our team haha! If that was the case then why did Celtic foot the cost? Why did he not just save some1 else and their family? And all the strings pulled to get him here! Have a think about it eh? Did this boy just so happen to be tommy burns pen pal?lol

Could be interesting to see what the board do about this.
Do the cash in on a bosman signing or boot out the offer and tell them to up the offer considerably or forget about it?

Celtic won't even consider that offer. He is improving without a doubt. I think for Celtic to part ways with Wilson it would have to be 2.75-3 million. I think the board would seriously consider that for a player signed for free.

ed do we have any interest in the young finnish striker that everyone seems to be talking about?. not sure how to spell his name, joel something? {Ed007's Note - Joel Pohjanpalo? I don't know of any CFC interest in him. More than likely he will move to England in either this window or in one of the next two.}
Believable1
Unbelievable3
To editor, from a Finnish perspective I'd say that a move to Germany is much more likely. Leverkusen and Mönchengladbach are interested, and Leverkusen are coached by Sami Hyypiä. Playing in Britain is no longer a dream for young Finnish players, since so many of them have got lost in the reserve teams. Germany is the new England.
Agree0
Disagree0
The German league is far better than the English league! And will possibly emerge to bring the best European league in the next ten years!
The EPL is fast becoming a house of cards and I will crease myself when it comes tumbling down on them! {Ed007's Note - The Bundesliga is already the best league in Europe and has been for the last 3/4 years.
I only said he would move to England because Spurs have held talks regarding the player to try and steal a march on Monaco who are also interested.}
Agree0
Disagree0
To editor: This is the stuff in the English media. However, the English media rarely are able to look beyond their own borders. In the Finnish media (something that should have relevance with regards to Pohjanpalo) there hasn't been so much about English interest for Pohjanpalo recently. It's still mostly about Germany. Even the AS Monaco rumour has originated in England and no source in Finland has confirmed it. He had a trial at Monaco years ago, but that doesn't mean anything anymore.
Most of these rumors in England are probably not true at all, while the Germany rumors that have originated in Finland from contact to HJK's management and Pohjanpalo's agents are much, much, much more reliable. It's kind of sad really how the English media aren't able to do proper research and find out stuff from other countries' media. By following German or Finnish sources, the English journalists would soon learn, that it's unlikely that Pohjanpalo will go to England. Heck, the lad even said himself recently in an interview that he'd prefer to play in Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland or similar Central European league. {Ed007's Note - You do know I am not English or even live in England don't you? What's the difference between a Finnish journalist and an English one, according to you the Finnish media should be believed over the English media? I'd prefer to listen to none of them and just deal in the facts I know, hence why I don't read newspapers.}

Great competition for izzy and full of pace what we will need in cl, thoughts? Gandalf the green {Ed007's Note - Wallace is a non-EC citizen and is ineligible for a UK work permit. He is eligible to play against us unless Celtic put a caluse in the loan agreement which is unlikely. If he plays I guess he is sure to score against us. Sopotcelt.

Seems I was wrong:
A statement from UEFA confirmed their rules do not forbid Bangura from playing against Celtic.
"As we, in line with the FIFA regulations on status and transfer of players, consider a loan to be a transfer, we do not have any regulations regarding players not playing against their parent club whilst on loan to another club, .
"If a player is duly registered on the player list of IF Elfsborg then he can play against any team that Elfsborg are drawn against.
"Any agreement between the two clubs that this player wouldn’t play against Celtic should Elfsborg be drawn against them is purely between the clubs.

I know it's unlikely we would pay £4m+ but if we sell Hooper we will have a net profit of £16/17m including Wanyams deal, some of which is rightly due to the manager to replace the quality we have lost and bolster our weakest positions.
If we are to progress and compete in the CL then we do need a lot more quality than we have at the moment.
