Received this info today,Ed do you think the 6000 people who will receive this are the ones affected by the dearer price of a season ticket (with Gers games) or are there more than that affected.

Jungle Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - I would think that will be the people who paid the extra money for the derby matches JB.}

Believable5 Unbelievable4

That's a big , and correct gesture in these times. Called right again. HH

Agree0 Disagree0

An even better gesture would have been to simply reimburse the cash to the 6000, after all they did pay for a product they didn't receive.

If you pay 100 over a year for broadband but end up with dial up but the provider gives you one month free is this correct? No, you could argue money has been stolen.

I think the only thing we should have done is refund the extra paid. you can probably tell,Ed, that this has annoyed me somewhat and its not affected me in Jock Stein.

Oh another thing, they charged me 15 for a replacement card as I lost mine. I find this terrible too as its the first one I have lost and had used the same card for four years. Turning a profit any way they can because there is no way on gods green earth they cost 15 to manufacture. If the sevco situation wasn't the way it is I would be asking for it for free or to cancel my application

Jamie Mac(where are our signings)

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, can you confirm where you heard this as i couldn't see any announcement on the club website. I thought this would be the best idea for those who paid extra. This way the money is still invested in the club and fans are still being reimbursed in some way.
Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

This was something i suggested a few weeks back, if true a great gesture by the club, would have thought that more than 6,000 season ticket holders would have been affected though.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is not a great gesture at all its pathetic and sneaky. Whatever the 6000 use their voucher on has no effect on Celtic.

Whichever item is chosen, Celtic already have paid for the stock so that money is spent. Add in the mark up on merchandise and I think its fleecing fans tbh.

Why not reimburse the cash especially when times are as tough as they are? ~and it wouldn't be a gesture- just the CORRECT thing to do.

From my understanding if this were to be challenged Celtic wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
I know the fixtures will be fulfilled by Dundee but of tickets cost 45, every other 28-30.

For a family of one adult and one kid this would be 90 lost to Celtic who offer to replace it with items which have been marked up considerably.

Jamie Mac(its just logic)

Agree0 Disagree0

I rest my case

PLEASE PLEASE no CELTIC need your money nonsense

Good comments on this Jamie

JASON

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to disagree with Jamie Mac here, i believe that on the CELTIC website regarding season ticket's, it said "Rangers or whoever replaces them". If that is the case it is a gesture from CELTIC. Jason you just are not going to let it go.I have to say, because of what is happening at Rangers, i would have asked what the score was before buying the ticket.
Tambhoy (original )

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing to let go mate,the way it was handled was wrong..I take my son who is 7 years old home and away..And i hope to be purchasing
two tickets for the last qualifier for champions league .Then the group stages.
At the end of the day you should not be fleecing children

Jason

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see both sides here but Tambhoy is correct, it did clearly say on the site that the additional cost would be iether RFC or a replacement. I don't agree its sneaky as such but I can see why people think its a bit off. That said it is equally the case Celtic really will need supporters to rally round and the Childrens tickets are still good value. I also have to laugh at the irony of the guy who wants money back and in the next sentence demands signings. If the last few months have taught us anything, surely it is that we have been right to be cautious with cash.

Agree0 Disagree0

Again the statement is sneaky, are Dundee ever likely to bring same volume of fans as rangers? Hence they wouldn't have to move for the Dundee game anyway!

These guys are watching the same games as the rest of us but have paid more, how can this possibly be right mate?

Jamie Mac

Agree0 Disagree0

Any news with this supposed 30 voucher being given to those who paid extra for the Old Firm matches for their kids? Still waiting for ours to come through the post. Sent a polite email to Celtic about the situation as bit frustrated at paying 79 for Dundee games, but heard nothing and no voucher. {Ed007's Note - The Judge from the Sunday Mail is looking into the situation.}

Ed, something puzzles me! How can Celtic put in a bid for Artjom Rudnevs of £3m in the last week of the season and now all of a sudden we have to sell a player before we can buy! What would be the reason for this??

Ice man {Ed007's Note - The reports said NL 'may' need to sell to balance the books, he can still buy players before anyone is sold, it is just the maths need to work out at the end.}

Believable2 Unbelievable3

It doesn't matter what people think, the financial mess Rangers has put the entire Scottish football in is going to affect us too. We must cut our cloth accordingly. Just glad we are not due millions from our cheating, deluded and plain nuts former neighbours.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon said at the weekend he would have to sell before he could buy and he didn't expect any players to come in before the champions league qualifiers he said he was happy with the squad and was confident they could do the job!!

Agree0 Disagree0

The squad is already very bloated so selling before buying seems a prudent thing.

ed, do you think we should play AC/DC - Thunderstruck at the start of the games at park head just the first 45 seconds get the crowd going especially for European games. FozzY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d7OBluielc {Ed007's Note - I have said for a while we should play Blurs Song2 (the one out the old FIFA game). St Pauli play it and the place goes bonkers.}

Believable7 Unbelievable2

No, some of the members of Ac/dc are Rangers fans. {Ed007's Note - What big team do they follow though?}

Excellent choice Ed. Heard it at a St Pauli match last season and the place went even madder than it usually does and I didnt think that was possible....Stef

St Pauli song is Hells Bells by AC/DC. The bells start ringing as the start to walk out the tunnel! Was at a game last year and Song 2 wasn't played for some reason!

Agree0 Disagree0

'Just can;t get enough' is one of our best anthems but I think you should forward the Blur idea to The Celtic, Ed as I am sure our St Pauli friends would be chuffed.
In addition we could always get Rod to lead off 'Sailing' like the old days....

Sure it's a grand old team to play for,
Sure it's a grand old team bedad,
When you read its history,
It's enough to make your heart grow sad,
God bless them.

We don't care if we win, lose or draw,
Darn the hair do we care,
Because we only know that there's going to be a show,
And the Glasgow Celtic will be there.

Sure it's the best darn team in Scotland,
And the players all are grand,
We support the Celtic,
As they are the finest in the land we love them,
We'll be there to give the Bhoys a cheer
When the league flag flies,
And it cheers us up when we know the Scottish Cup,
Is coming home to rest at Paradise.

Sure it's a grand old team to play for,

Neil Lennon will be given a transfer kitty of around £3m in early August if he has not sold anyone for a large sum. This increase to his transfer budget is almost like an emergency fund if a player has not been sold before then for a fee in the region of £7-10m.

Peter Lawwell hard at work as Celtic try to complete a signing over the weekend or at the very latest, the start of next week. I do not know who this is but it is to my understanding that the player will be a centre back and the deal will most likely be a season-long loan.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

NL in the paper today (don't worry, I didn't buy it!) saying he spoke to PL and there is no movement on the transfer front. Hopefully this is not the case.

Ed seen alot of people putting up, walters of stoke to us for 4million, hope this is not true, dont think he is good enough for the CL and isnt what we ar looking for. And seen someone putting up jack hobbs of hull, is he any good, never heard of him, any truth in these rumours. Keep up the good work mate.

CelticDubGary {Ed007's Note - I said the other day that I thought it was Etherington from Stoke being scouted as he is available this summer, rather than Walters. I don't know very much about Hobbs, but some of the Eds who follow the lower leagues rate him.}

celtic back in for curtis davis after change of heart player wants cl football and reconsidered after rejecting move to norwich deal done before weekend same agent as joe ledley,

Cant see this been true. They want over 4 million for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was looking like he was gonna be a top quality defender before his injuries. Hope we get him but doubt it

Agree0 Disagree0

Curtis Davies? How very uninspiring. Why would we want someone like him to come in and who's place would he take in the team?

Agree0 Disagree0

He's also definitely not a CL standard player.

Hi Ed

Any information on the Hooper contract

Jason {Ed007's Note - There is nothing new, Hooper is still hoping an EPL team will come in for him but nobody is willing to meet CFC's valuation of £7 million plus add ons.}

Believable2 Unbelievable4

I'm sorry Ed, but that's complete rubbish about Hooper hoping that a Premiership club comes in for him. He has already come out and said to the press that he is very happy at Celtic and does not wish to move. {Ed007's Note - So why has he not signed the new contract that has been sitting there for months? You would think someone so desperate to stay would have no problem extending his contract wouldn't you.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be delighted if Hooper stays, as IMHO he will score in Europe. 7m is a very fair price for him in today's market. Let the EPL teams buy duds from Europe at inflated prices. My guess is a few teams in the lower half of the EPL will be delighted to part with over 7m for Hooper around Christmas time when they need goals to get out of the mire. Hooper should sign the new deal meantime as it wont adversely affect him either way. I think Aiden signed a big contract a year before he left and it did not do him any harm. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic and PL are penny pinching again young hooper could get 40 50k dwn the road celtic probley offering 15-18k the boy holding out for more cash.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, I do not know the exact reasons as to why Gary Hooper has not signed the contract yet, but I can assure you that he is not waiting on a Premiership club. The guy played his last game for Celtic of the 2011/12 season on 13th May and it was reported on 22nd May that he was going to be offered a new deal. In that space of time, Hooper was probably enjoying himself on holiday and having a well earned break, maybe even visiting friends or family. This would account for a good few weeks of him not signing the contract. Secondly, Lennon and Celtic officials have also been on holiday and as you can evidently see, nothing has been done over May/June regarding contracts. Celtic returned for pre-season training on 2nd July and flew out to Germany around four days later. Neil Lennon has always said that he would look to discuss contracts with players when they are back in Scotland. Does this maybe account for the time between the end of the season and now? I think so. Also, have you thought that Celtic have had to cut the wage bill considerably over the Summer by letting players go i.e. Loovens, Cha etc.
Celtic will definitely be offering Hooper a pay rise in his new contract and maybe they were waiting to clear the wage bill a bit so then they could offer him a greater salary. {Ed007's Note - So what happened to the contract talks that were taking place before January? Hooper and his agent called them off after Hooper spoke to Nigel Adkins. When Southampton refused to meet CFC's valuation of the player this summer they went and signed Jay Rodriguez instead. Surely you can remember the reports round about December the 16/17th that Hooper wanted to commit his future to the club? That was LONG before May and yet he has still not signed 8 months later. It is nothing to do with money or wages, it is about Hooper's ambition to play in the EPL and gain international recognition.}

Agree0 Disagree0

There were no contract talks before January. If you read the reports correctly, Hooper stated that he would like to sign a new contract. It was only in May when Lennon said that he would be offered a new deal. Gary Hooper did not speak to Adkins about a transfer to Southampton as he was not within his rights to do so. It clearly states that two clubs must agree a fee before any player can have contact with the other party regarding a transfer. Despite Hooper not being the brightest tool in the box, I have the utmost confidence that he is not a money grabbing, lying player. Of course Hooper will be playing in the EPL one day, the evidence is all there for everyone to see. Also, how do you KNOW that it is nothing to do with money or wages? Are you a member of the Celtic board? I don't think so. It is blatantly obvious that with a new contract for a top class player like Hooper, there will definitely be a salary increase. Celtic may not have had that money in place at the right time to offer him a new deal and that is why, after cutting the wage bill over June, they are now prepared to offer him a new deal when Celtic return from their pre-season tour of Europe.

Hi ed, I totally agree with you about the friendlies and not to read into them too much. My concern is that we are two weeks away from the qualifiers and still no signings . In the past few seasons to me we have been caught cold a little. IMO surely we need a centre half in urgently in order so he can get to know his team mates , the way we play and to do that we needed him on the training field ASAP. Delaying signing players is not helping our case. It's now mid July and still we have no players in with the exception of Forster who has already been there 2 years

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Think that we can't get anyone in who is better than we have at the moment due to the uncertainty cos of Sevco.

Back when they were still dodging about they couldn't spend money on players and saw the benefit of a tighter team who know each other well.

Hopefully continuity will stand us in good stead and we have a decent run in Europe.

Does anyone know if we have any decent centre backs coming through the ranks?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well there's Lewis Toshney (who's 20 and was out on loan at Killie last year) and Marcus Fraser (who's 18 and played the 2nd half against Rennes when we beat 'em 3-1, but that's his only first team experience). They both look like pretty good prospects.

i know most of you on this site don't want the titles back, and i respect your opinion. but i do. , they won those titles by fielding illigitimate teams full of players they couldn't afford. think back to how much it hurt losing two titles on the final day of the season, helicopter sundays. they cheated , and the titles are rightly ours. i don't think we should stop there. we should drag them through the courts for years, if nessessary, to claim back prize money associated with these titles. and more importantly the money they got those years from the champions league.. they all accuse us of kicking them when they're down, well lets start kicking.i am all for having those 5 flags and one cup delivered by helicopter.. oh and falkirk, q.o.t.s. and dundee would like their winners medals as well.. shamrock

Believable18 Unbelievable9

Shamrock i'm with you bro, they would do it to us had the boot been on the other foot, iam not talking tit for tat stuff just give us back our titles. And for my fellow men who disagree we'll we are all entitled to our opinion but just remember they CHEATED they say cheats never won(and i know they are where they are now)but they still have/had that money and titles in their history, shamrock im with you,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers kbarry , i hope there are more like you.. lets get all we can from their cheating.. kick when we are down.. oh yes. the harder the better . shamrock

Agree0 Disagree0

Our squads have been more than capable of winning the league every year, regardless of them cheating

if we didnt win it at the time, we don't deserve it now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Those titles really would be 'tainted' titles. I would prefer to take the moral high ground for ever more. Let the record books show 'stripped for financial irregularities'. We will eventually pass them on titles won - preferably under our own steam. .......... kbt1978

Agree0 Disagree0

They say whoever wins the league title deserves it.
RFC "simply the best" on the pitch.
CFC "simply not good enough" on the pitch.
You are simply off your rocker.
P.O.B.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im in the disagree camp im afraid lads. Stick those title's up theyre arse's for all i care, we dont need them. Of course they have to be stripped from them but id take more satisfaction from looking at an updated wee red book with the words title removed (Club found guilt of Financial doping) next to it.

Agree0 Disagree0

You could be onto something with the titles but you won't get a penny from them because not sure were you have been hiding but they are getting liquidated hence there will be no cash and also has'nt been proven yet sit tight and see what happens

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you have a good point. Portsmouth beat us in the FA cup final under Redknapp with players the had no intention or means of paying for. They like Rangers should pay the same price as Olympic cheats.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes sir the harder the better, our day HAS come,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree. They cheated and should have the titles taken away. Not awarding them is not really an option as it would dismiss all the honest endeavour of every other team in the league. To render those years meaningless is not a responsible action for the SFA. The results of the now defunct rangers must be voided and the title awarded to the team who finished in second place.

In terms of finance i think this could have cost Celtic anywhere up to 100 million. It is unlikely we could recover this from Rangers as they will be liquidated next week, perhaps the SFA would like to accept responsibility for its governance failure which may have been a consequence of having so many ex rangers in position of power some who actually received EBT's themselves

Grout

Agree0 Disagree0

I spent thousands following the hoops in the hope id see a tic captain raise silverware,these dirty cheating barstewards made that nigh on immpossible.everything to do with that stain on scottish football should be reduced to rubble and never spoke of again

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah take the titles back. Totally agree. Rangers cheated and if it was any other sport they would have their medals etc stripped from them. Rangers are a disgrace and we need to show every other team in every other league that its not an option to cheat.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont really care that much but i'd like to take 5 titles of them so kyle laffable's 5 star tattoo means less than nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Ed great site i post on a limited basis and struggled to remeber sign on name!
Anyways i can see Shamrock and Kbarry point of stripping titles and cups but honestly i do not think you can claim the cup final...there was probably 5-6 teams put out by gers on way and including final therefore who gets to claim cup would be a nitemare. The titles in my opinion yes they may have paid players more than they could afford however at the time thier squad week in week out obvioulsy worked harder and grinded out the required results we all know it takes to win leagues...let them be stripped of the titles wither it be 4-9 the simpletons of the SFA/SPL will no doubt debate back and forward. We as proud Celtic club should refuse any offer to add to our honours these stripped titles as they will always be noted as stripped from Rangers not won by the Celtic. By stripping thier Famous slogan for oldco most successful club team will be ruined...and i for one am happy with that! BigBhoyGreen

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye i agree strip titles for financial affairs defo , but to give them to us no thanks , my opinion is this i for one still think thta the past 3 rangers teams to have won the league were by far the worst rangers teams in the past 20 years so what did thta make us hmmmm just take the titles of them let them pay there fines and monies owed to other clubs and lets get on with the football now cause this is defo growing a beard folks tommybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Grout - absolutely spot-on. If Oldco are found guilty of cheating, their titles and cups won during that period should be stripped and awarded to the runners-up. When Ben Johnson cheated at the Olympics the gold medal was taken from him and given to Carl Lewis. Same rules should apply here, although I can understand if other celtic fans feel differently.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take the titles and go after murray for the money . they have cheated our club out of at least 50million

Agree0 Disagree0

If they are found guilty then yes remove the titles from history. However why would we want them? Make them null and void. We can win our own titles. Hbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

When the scandal hit Italy they stripped titles from clubs and redistributed them rather than just leaving those years with no winner because of irregularities. If that's the way they do it it the top leagues then it's the way we should do it here

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Shamrock but I disagree. Like most other peole that do I believe those titles would very tainted. Like what has already bein said I believe our squad could have one every one, but we didn't. However, the team that did win them should be stripped of them and the history books let everyone know why. That is their ultimate punishment for the'r wrongdoings. I think if you follow it all through anyway Aberdeen may have won the league the year we signed Junihno

Agree0 Disagree0

Who to say use would have won the titles ,use couldn't win the league the 3years before last and rangers were on there knees, all cups should be made void ,use are desperate glory hunters , always cheated never defeated
