Is there anything in the rumour that we are interested in Striker Saman Ghoddos or is it just more paper talk.

When you look at Ghoddos' record it's not really any different than when folk suggest somebody like Louis Moult as backup striker and at least he is tried and tested in our league, which is stronger than the Allsvenskan.

Goal records aren't everything. The boys only 23 and has earned his first 2 caps, and first goal, for Sweden this year. That suggests he's far superior to Moult. If we buy another striker it either needs to be an experienced player who played at a high level previously or a top young talent from an obscure region such as Africa who could develop into a good player. A 25 year old from Motherwell is not the answer. We have a striker of that ilk and he's just about to head for Plymouth.

You're right LM, we don't need players for Spl, anybody that comes in has to be CL quality or it's a waste of money as we have àround 20 players that are better than anything else in the spl.

I hear you, LM. But Moult was about as dangerous as Hayes over the last two years if I recall correctly (not having especially paid attention to either) . Seems a fairly realistic prospect for a job that is always going to be behind the scenes. The fact that Ciftci never got a look in during our injury crises perhaps tells us all we need to know about the recruitment of a new striker, however.

I'm not saying I want us to get Moult at all btw. My point was that this guy is an unknown quantity and could be a risk (on the other hand he could be a total gem) . LM67, whether you rate him or not, Moult is better than Ciftci. Also the suggestion that a CL quality striker will come to Scotland and be 3rd choice is wishful thinking Stevie. BR has stated we aren't looking for another TOP striker as he couldn't be kept happy.

Moult may be better than Ciftci, but we've bought the best player outside Celtic this summer in Hayes, who already looks out his depth.

We should be after someone who was once CL quality or someone who can be in the future.

To be honest with Paddy coming back I'm not that desperate for another striker to come in.

New to group but followed for a while, first time posting, like the look of lad ghoddos lighting fast and knows where the goals are, think he'd be good for us, don't see anyone better in Scotland Ps who is ed, everyone seems to ask him advice.

Rodgers must be looking to add more players even after Roberts? Said he has his targets so wonder who we are looking at? Does this rule out another attacker?

He won't recruit for the sake of it. But if he can get a player for any position, at the right price, who's better than the best we have in that position. different matter. I guess that's one way teams get better. That and improving what you have. I think Brendan can do both.

Celtic managers have been spouting the same mantra for years. If we can get a player for any position, at the right price, who's better than the best we have in that position then we're interested.

Doesn't EVERY club live by that rule? It's hardly a statement of intent. HH.
