Something is bothering me. abut Rangers.

Firstly i still dont know how a company suspended from trading shares on the plus market is able to sell its shares to a new owner outwith existing shareholders.

Secondly, all the talk about a CVA being hopefully imminent. Its fair enought they want this it swhat happens in business. However say Ng gets the keys to Ibrox. And gets a CVA and satisfies all the current creditors. What happens if HMRC say well your now due us £70 million. What happnens then? Admin again? or liquidation? No one would alk in to owning an actual bill that needs paid for that amount before they can even sart? The MSM is obviously glossing this over in saying its a CVA for 134 million, but it wouldnt be the big tax case aint reported what they are due if anything. All this stalling in the bids is obviously the bidders saying " hold on, we are not buying untill this is cleared up one way or the other". Nothing to do with the SPL meeting or anything else, its a waiting game on the Tribunal. Yet this is nevr picked up on by any media at all. Its glossed over now. They are not due 134 mil at the min more like 50 -55. This is what a CVA covers... what about the big tax case?

They play in orange tops and socks with black shorts( a good link there)

Ground capacity 3400

Transfer spend £0 since 2010

Finished 7th in 10 team league

Nickname "THE CHEETAS"

Hardly the massive transformation IN fortunes reported in the Daily person today by KEEF J

For the motherwell game why not play the young boys keep the main squad for the Rangers match cause you might have some strange decisions (red cards etc not to mention possible injuries) by mccalls men just a thought I also wish the fans would see the light and avoid attending as protest to the proposed vote allowing the newco into the league with minor penalties

Is this foul mouthed idiot really who Rangers fans are clamouring for a knighthood for? Vile and blasphemous language from a classless, vile and horrible human being. A complete and utter disgrace for any manager to carry on like this, especially when there is a camera and microphone in front of him. Thankfully Mr Lennon would never lower himself to this kind of level.

Try to stop obsessing over Rangers son......you have won the title yet you STILL cant tear yourself away from The Worlds Most Successful Club, Glasgow Rangers.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would give him a knighthood for this interview alone. Chick Young is a terrible broadcast jounalist. His written word is passable but this interview just goes to show how woeful he really is. Cant stand Smith but he handled the questions with the contempt they deserved.

Above poster is patronising and deluded in the extreme! Rangers.. the most successful club in the world. I agree its the most successful at shaming our national game, cheating and stealing titles, cheating the hard working Uk and Scottish tax payer and very likely soon to be history through a shameful liquidation. And all along I thought Real Madrid were the most successful Club in the world...small matter of 9 European cups/ Champions league trophy's. Best club of the twentieth century, 2 UEfa cups 31 championships etc etc. If you want to talk pathetic your dim and patronising view of the world is pathetic son....Sopot Celt

Hi Ed, Sorry for the lengthy reply again but this one has got my back up if the poster is being serious.

TTTS. You are either offering a tongue in cheek opinion hoping for a bite (I will gladly oblige you), a hypocrite, or are a member of the prawn sandwich brigade who doesn't sit amongst the masses on match days and doesn't go to the local after it. I hope its the former as the majority of football fans, players, coaches and managers swear in this country and it is wrong to single one out and regard it as being singularly contemptible. I don't swear, that is my personal choice, but swearing is something that has never bothered me up to now as I have grown up with it. Was it right and proper to speak like that in front of a microphone and camera? Of course it wasn't. Was it funny? Hell yeah, I haven't laughed as much in ages (apologies if you find that blasphemous - Jesus H I will have to be more careful what I say in future)! Chick was struggling big time. More importantly, was it broadcast on the Beeb? of course not.

Lennon swears like a trooper (lip read the highlights of games) just the same, and Smith probably still does too (in private). Is Lennon a vile, blasphemous, foul mouthed person also then? I will leave that one up to you but I wouldn't have thought so and I am a rangers fan. They are both working class men who live in the real world and they wouldn't have been too far apart in terms of managerial ages then and now. In other words, naive. This should give you some hope that Lennon can begin to curb his natural instincts and over time mature into a respectful, dignified, highly regarded individual who may or may not end up similarly recognised for his contributions to football when he reaches the end of his career (I have a feeling he wouldn't accept it even if it was offered right enough).

Regards 'vile and blasphemous'...'foul mouthed idiots' (your phrases not mine) being recognised by the Queen, I have attached an addy from someone you might know which is almost as funny as the Walter Smith interview. If you were being tongue in cheek, enjoy. I found it hilarious and took it for what it was, working class humour. If you were serious then you can add racist to your list for this individual, condemn him just the same and won't find this even slightly amusing.

Sorry in advance Ed (and to anyone who toughs it out if it is posted). Think this will go down as the longest post in history but there is a lot of ground to cover here.

Hi TTTS. Sincere apologies for the case of mistaken identity, it looked, and still does look like one post to me and your name was the only one attached to it. Thanks for pointing out that those were not your comments and for being so polite in your response. I take it the original poster left no name and Ed joined them together as they had similar links (I go by the agree/disagree segment signifying the end of a singular post)? However, I stand by what I said to the nameless poster and will take a similar but far more courteous approach in responding to your reply.

On your first point. There is a lot of confusion around at the minute as to who is guilty of what etc, what was legal and wasn't legal and when, and who is responsible for the debt accrued. I will give you my ill-educated take on it. For it to be remotely understood the different aspects have to be separated.

Up until CW took over, Rangers had debts which were reducing year on year and perfectly manageable during Smith's tenure as manager (equatable with Celtic's level of current debt, give or take, if memory serves). The BTC was already under way by that point and I will come back to that in a minute as I assume that is your main point here. Since CW's takeover his mismanagement of the club has resulted in the omission of the paye and ni payments, the issue to do with Ticketus and the massive debt he has accrued through borrowing from them with little or no intention of paying them back, not to mention the small businesses and other clubs that are due money and may possibly go out of business themselves as a consequence. As you can probably tell I have absolutely no time for the man at all although some shameless supporters seem to now think he is playing a blinder and his behaviour is somehow acceptable. Rangers are in administration purely because of his ineptitude (or direct intention). None of this had anything to do with Smith so he can't be tarred as being involved within the current debacle. Although by your logic McCoist's year has just got even worse if that was possible as one man's actions takes everyone else down with them.

The BTC WAS active during Smith's tenure and I am less sure of my information on this topic as I have read a lot of contradictory information on it but here goes. My understanding is that EBT's were and still are legal and are regularly used by countless big businesses to offer 'loans' to their employees (normally the high earners). IF they are mismanaged or it can be PROVEN that they have been abused for the purposes of tax evasion then, and only then, will Rangers be liable for the charge which could rise to an alleged 75 million dating back ten years. IF the allegations of shredding and requests for payments via EBT's which have came out are true then, irrelevant of the legal outcome of the case, your point may have some validity on moral grounds as given his position and close relationships with fellow board members he would have been aware of what was going on. However he didn't install the 'legal' system and this still doesn't prove (so far) that it was the norm throughout the club (allegations currently relate to one individual), although it admittedly doesn't look good. Neither does it prove that dual contracts were used illegally either. If any of this can be proven to be true, rather than being merely conjecture or unfounded accusations, then I will agree with your comment and wouldn't support a knighthood for him out of principle either if one were ever to be offered. We will have to wait and see what the result of the case is and what the evidence presented tells us, which is why I have not commented on any of this before now. Either way this part of the mess lies squarely at the door of David Murray, the one 'Rangers' man who definitely does do walking away.

Similarly with Neil Lennon the two aspects involved require the same degree of separation that the mess rangers find themselves in does. Namely that the abuse he continues to endure is an entirely separate issue to his behaviour and how the governing bodies have reacted to it.

The verbal and physical abuse he has endured during his time in Scotland is appalling and shameful. It is something I never have and never will condone no matter how it is 'justified' by some so called supporters. However, I can't recall any of the papers or the SFA stating that he deserved the threats and parcels he received and they were unanimously in his corner if memory serves and the papers were critical of the outcomes and leniency of the court cases brought so far. He also has my sympathy, admiration and full support as an ordinary football supporter in that regard.

However, his behaviour as manager of Celtic on the other hand is simply neither justifiable nor acceptable. He has to learn restraint and be more dignified and 'streetwise' both in the dugout and in press conferences and the tweet he issued was just plain stupidity on his part. He invites confrontation with the authorities when he should be leaving that side of it to others at the club. If refereeing ineptitude is proven against Celtic (and their are numerous instances in favour of other teams not just Celtic. It is not a witch hunt in my opinion, simply a case of incompetent refs - Rangers and Hearts goals that never were, Hooper's offside goal {which he has still to acknowledge} in the semi final, for example) then follow due process and put in complaints to the governing bodies if you feel strongly enough as a club. If you feel you aren't receiving justice there then petition Uefa as a civilian would do the European Courts. Be smart about it and take the legal approach. Do not run aggressively on to the pitch and have a go at the referee in front of a world wide audience for not giving a penalty (replays do prove it hit Webster's hip by the way - he hasn't admitted that one either) after he had made two ricks already (Hooper's goal and a contentious handball) in the game which had evened themselves out. This is just the latest in a long list of controversial issues he has been unnecessarily involved in. How does he expect the powers that be to react? Say sorry, you must be right because you are the manager of one of the big two, oh and by the way you can behave in any manner you deem appropriate because you are? ANY manager who confronts a referee/official as aggressively as Lennon has done on more than one occasion now is in line for some form of punitive action (there are lots of examples I could give you of managers being punished for behaving as INAPPROPRIATELY as he does. These types of disciplinary hearings happen week in week out). It's as simple as that. He cannot keep reacting the way he does, it is achieving nothing but shoving him even further into the limelight and putting a big red target on his back for the media to have a go at him as the managers of both Rangers and Celtic are big news and anything controversial they do or say makes the front and back pages. If he was manager of Cowdenbeath do you think the media would report it as much as they do even if he was as out of line as he has been recently? No, they wouldn't! He is the manager of Celtic and is supposed to act accordingly: with the dignity, grace, and manners shown by some of his illustrious and well respected predecessors such as Tommy Burns (RIP), Martin O'Neill and Billy McNeil to name just a few. He isn't a player that can get away with things any longer and has to stop spitting the dummy out every time a contentious refereeing decision (rightly or wrongly) goes against his team. In football terms his overreactions have been far from trivial, they are very serious (talking in football terms here only) and are highly inflammatory.

Brian

p.s. I couldn't care less about the religious aspect either. The original poster clearly does however and that is who those comments were directed at. I am a half Catholic, half Protestant who, after years of cleaning the Chapel steps and attending mass with one gran the day before going to Sunday School and Church with the other one, decided to turn atheist. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Brian ,thank you for your apology.

Im one of few words I'll try and keep my response as short as possible (as you did :-) ) The sole purpose of my post was to highlight what I see as the over exaggeration of NLs reactions by the media and the" oh so ready "to jump on the band wagon brigade .As an itelligent man you surely ,if you step back can see that .So with that in mind and what NL has endured over the last 2 years as manager and several years as a player I can understand his open head on approach to the referee and fully support it.Also back to your orignal point(first post) ,the singular one, many managers have "spit out the dummy" whilst patroling the line and to me it shows they care ,and many see it that way ,not offensive .Why in the name of God/Allah or any other celestial beings has SSB in particular went out of their way to highlight one "singular" managers reaction especially when the mentioned has been lied to by officals before .
It does reek of personal Brian!! .
regards TTTS

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers TTTS,

My point, as simply as I can put it (lol) is that other managers who step out of line in exactly the same manner get punished in exactly the same way he has (Craig Levein, Gus McPherson, Jim McKinally to name but a few). The difference is that they are not the manager of a high profile club like Celtic and don't receive the media attention that comes with managing one of the OF. The SFA will not tolerate the abuse or public criticism of officials from ANYONE, even if they have had an absolute shocker, and will react accordingly. They have to if they wish to maintain even some semblance of order.

Personal by the media (pardon my ignorance but who or what is SSB)? Maybe, but I doubt it. Two questions spring to mind straight away. Who gives them their ammunition on a daily/weekly basis and would they treat McCoist any different if he acted in the same manner? 'Neil Lennon' and 'yes' for me (controversy sells papers - it is a 'no-brainer') so I don't see it as a personal attack on Neil Lennon by the media. It is the coverage of an individual continually courting controversy, nothing more.

The way I see it Lennon has 'personally' went out of his way to antagonise the SFA and officials in general since he became manager with his behaviour (which is not acceptable or justifiable full stop, no matter what he has had to endure off the pitch) and in particular his comments. Sometimes, as I mentioned in another post, the comments were justified but most of the time they have not been. And the media have been following right behind lapping everything up.

Poor/biased refereeing didn't cost your team the cup final or the semi final as he suggested either (my point about painting a great big target on his own back in terms of providing ammunition for the media and the SFA). Your team performed very poorly on the respective days by the standards that they have set themselves in both competitions this season - a lot of your fans on here have said as much themselves and so have ex players so it is not just my opinion. Yes it was a soft penalty given against you but he has still to acknowledge Hooper's goal being offside and the ball not actually hitting Webster's arm. Instead he has dug his heels in about the referees and the establishment being anti-Celtic and costing the club the treble this year. The refereeing has, and always will be, poor in this country (as it is everywhere else) and it affects everyone throughout the season. There is not a specific anti-Celtic agenda from officials, as some claim, in my opinion. He either can't accept or see that and the blame, as always when he is on the end of a poor result, gets shifted elsewhere.

Passion is great but how much use is it to the team when he is in the stand for x amount of games a season? Furthermore, what example does it set to his players in terms of their own behaviour. They haven't really stepped out of line on the pitch yet but mark my words they will start to if they see their manager getting away with it again and again. As far as the media go then both clubs are fair game. Hypothetically, if McCoist started getting abused to the same level and, by your logic then started abusing (and that is what it is when you 'step back' and look at it - abusing) officials, then of course he will get it as tight as Lennon is at the minute from the SFA and the media will report it in the same way they are now as McCoist WOULD be the one in the wrong in that scenario.

Guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one as I don't feel there has been any over reaction to Neil Lennon's actions by either the media or the SFA. As I said above I am appalled at the abuse he has suffered in this country but the two are separate issues. If, as manager of Celtic, he behaved professionally and displayed half the dignity, humility and respect for others that your previous managers listed above showed then the target the media have been so attracted to would soon disappear along with the constant touchline bans.

Brian {Ed007's Note - SSB is Super Score Board Brian, a radio phone in show in Scotland. Avoid it at all costs mate.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Ed, had no idea. Meant to say 'Neil Lennon' and 'NO' in the last post. There is an own goal if ever I saw one, lol!!

Brian {Ed007's Note - I never even noticed Brian lol. As for SSB, you see all the names of 'journalists' on here that both CFC and Rangers fans hate (it's the same ones), they are all on it on different nights, they will basically say anything to court controversy and encourage people to phone in, and my God do some people take the bait!!! If you are savvy enough to listen and know what is happening it can be quite funny at times, but listening once a week is more than ample. I think I am banned off it now :-) One of the regular 'panelists' doesn't like me for some strange reason!!}

cant believe what i have been readin about how bad lennon is for going at the ref. they say refs are only human and do make mistake, funny how all calls against us are mistakes and not bad calls or wrong calls, as they say refs are human and are allowed tp ake mistakes but what about using the human emotion or sensse of admitting when they are wrong. for this actually happened in the epl but there comes nothing close to that in the spl, the one basic human nature that can show just hpw human you are by admiting your wrong and im sure the ref will get more matches.

in one thing i ilooked at it said lennone must be band for the rest of this season and begginnig of next or else "attacks on referees will continue". so i guess running up to the ref and point in so bad you need to throw the book at him, what about the rankers players last year the 2 of them acutally assult the ref by grabing his arm and holding tightly to stop him from doing his job and showing a card(not to bring t bring the other mob up but thats juust a perfect example) and the ref is all smiling with them has they get off with it.

i find it funny too that the refs in soccer are humans and make mistakes ok fine but are they saying that you cant yell at a ref because they are to sensitive? for you must speak proper and quietly, are they babies?oo we might hurt there feelings? look around the world of sports as i watch the NHL(hockey) playoffs for the cup and bad mistakes are made(and i say mistakes becaue the refs in nhl do admit any missed calls as well they have dignity and act like a pure human being) the coaches call over the ref and let him have it pointing and yelling at them letting them know and yes if it they go too far they get thrown out. but the refs are able to take and let the coaches have there opinion. if you ask me, take a look around all of sports and you will see true refs(humans) not as sensitive as those in the spl and yes the integrity and dignaty are stil intact and not effected by it. ooya and when the refs make mistakes especially in big games they a punished by being left out of playofs and big games and , yet the spl just awards refs that never should come close to big games. and they use words of the ref is a disgrace, which it dosent warrent a band or suspension because he is not talking about the way the ref did his job like a review of our jobs we all get, not saying football should be like that but the refs and spl/sfa seem to be too sensitive when it comes to Celtic and the things we say or do.

sry for this but just cant believe how everyone is up in arms over running on the pitch, yes he should not do it but when it comes to Lennon you never know if he will be aloud to say anything to the ref after the game for it is up to the refs. glad to see one of the best stick up for Lennon because O'neil is behind him and so should we all. he is sticking up for our club and for whats right some may not like it but we must stand behind him because he will do whats best for the club and football, for not all things that came about in this world was done peacfully, sometimes you must upset the powers at be inorder for a change to happen for the better.

Sorry guys but he deserves everything he gets for the way he acted. You've got to worry about his ability to improve as a manager if he cant learn the simple lesson that he has to be the bigger man on these occasions. He is the manager of one of scotlands biggest institutions and that is why the book is thrown at him for acting like a child. He let himself and the club down yet again. Perhaps he would be better off in the stand where he has a better view and less opportunity to cause trouble for himself. We can bitch and moan about how the media represent us but thats the reality of being on a pedestal in our country. We are the champions and everyone wants to knock us down.

Too right dude! pics dont lie but ppl tend to forget about how there are other managers doing this when it comes to our man. wonder just how bad of a game it was for them to run on? because ours was just a disgrace from the ref in a cup tourny. we all know when it comes to our man ppl seem to think he is the first one and only one that does things like that, there is more talk of that and what he does then that of one of the biggest(if not the biggest)scam in the history of football(in Scotland at least). they always say what he does and never the whole story of why and what makes him do stuff.

Ach dry yer eyes son. Lennon CONTINUALLY has pops at refs but only when his world beaters are getting beat.

I hope lennon stays at celtic for ever, the guy is proper comedy gold haw haw haw!!

It wasn't the having a go that is the problem it's the manner in which it was done. I am all for the passion lenny has but there is a line between passion and sheer aggression and the latter is not needed. our manager has to learn some self control if he wants to be a great in the mould of mr stein!

Lennon is entitled to carry on the way he did . he is the manager he has been getting cheated like the rest and the only difference is he tells the truth as the old saying goes the truth hurts.

All the blue noses can dress it any way they like, Lenny is hated for a lot of bigoted reasons, as these pictures prove double standards abound in Scotland, the one that sticks out for me is wee Sleekit ally whispering and Lenny reacts (cue the witch hunt) about a week later Craig brown goes boxing with his ex chairman and gets nothing more than a wee slap on the wrist

If you take the temper away from neil would he been the same manager, I don't think he would, the players thrive off there mentors attitude and that's why we are champions!
