ED007 my pal at Celtic Pools says Roberts has been told by Man City that he is not in their plans, but have agreed for him to return for pre season to try and impress Guardiola, Celtic have apparently pulled out of bidding race, but have asked City to keep them informed, City if they sell, want Β£8-Β£10m plus buy back clause, is this what you have heard?
Cannot see Lawwell bidding anywhere near that amount, even though Paddy is worth it.

If they are after 8 million why not offer a structured payment that suits us? 4 million this summer and 4 million next summer? Better than them sending him out on loan and picking up a small loan fee. I appreciate that all deals aren't exact money up front but we will get that back plus more after a season or 2.

Can someone explain, how we could afford Paddy Roberts wages, he can get a lot more money playing down south, it's a pipedream he is coming here, unless he is one of the people who value quality of life over monetary gain, not personally knowing the guy, i have no idea, I have no time for the Beckham's and Rooney's of this world, who with the money they 'earn', could buy equipment for their local hospitals, but choose instead to fill garages with fancy cars or throw it away on roulette wheels, as someone once said 'somethings going to change'

My favourite of all time group said it Aindoh. the stranglers.

Can we all be a bit sensible here.
Structured payments? We wouldn't bid Β£8-10m for Roberts?

Paddy would be getting a wage increase at Parkhead, with full knowledge that a move the following season would materialise.
It's a win/ win for him.
Guaranteed he signs after we qualify.

Aindoh I agree with your sentiments if I was ever in a fortunate position to have all those millions ad help various charities and kids organisations but look at 1 of our own shareholders he buys an island for Β£80mill and we don't pass judgment think of the good that could do it's not the players faults clubs are willing to pay these kinds of salaries it's the fans willing to pay there subscriptions to sky no sky no silly wages.

One thing is sure there are a hell of a lot more Scottish people paying Wee fortunes to watch English EPL rubbish, than English paying to watch Scottish. Ireland full of Sky EPL experts.

Celtic have put a bid in to Lens, said to be around 5 million Euros, for Jean-Kevin Duverne.

Where u hearing this ED? Not see the boy play but see he's only 19! U seen much of him mate? What's our chances of getting him?

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - He's very highly rated and clubs like Liverpool and Spurs have been scouting Duverne who has been compared to Raphael Varane. We're the only club that has made a move with an offer so we'll see how it pans out, like most youngsters gametime is very important to him as he doesn't want to sit on the bench anywhere.}

17 Jun 2017 13:16:17
Cheers ED! Must admit I'm happy we're making moves to bring a decent centre half in! Think it's a must for Europe especially!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It looks like Sviatchenko might leave during this window and Duverne would be a cracking replacement.}

17 Jun 2017 13:34:35
He'd be a cracking signing.

Can't really comment on the lad but I remember reading in january how highly regarded he was in France. Looks really good in the challenge as well as having the pace and power from the clips I've seen and if he's being compared by the Lens fans to their former player Varane then I really hope this materialises.

He seems to be very highly rated. No chance Jozo will leave in my opinion he's going to play a no play a big part champions league campaign reckon. If Erik leaves I won't grudge it, surely he's worth 3-4million?

Looked up the boy, plays in France 2nd tier. Just missed out on promotion this year! No caps at any level for France. price seems a bit steep for me!

What has happened to Eboue. He came in for Β£3.5mill but has hardly kicked a ball. Know he is only 19 much same as Duvern but when you pay that much you hope to see them improve the side.

Celtic are reported to have said today that they wern't interested in Duverne . Does that mean we won't be signing him or is the reported denial just more rubbish.

Hello ed

Do Celtic still have any interest in James McCarthy or is the interest long gone?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Celtic and McCarthy are still hopeful a deal can be done with Everton.}

17 Jun 2017 12:09:40
Great to hear. Would be some signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think so too.}

17 Jun 2017 13:42:08
Duverne, Roberts, McCarthy, Onyekuru.

We'd win the CL haha.

17 Jun 2017 14:02:40
Any idea how much they want for mccarthy?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - No.}

17 Jun 2017 14:04:15
How does that work ed, are both Scottish and English teams not governed by the same home office rules regarding work permits?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He's a much better chance of using the exceptional talent rules to gain a work permit for a Scottish team than in the English game. We've used it for Wanyama and more recently for Eboue Kouassi.}

17 Jun 2017 14:19:25
Never seen the bhoy but hope he's a good yin quite a big fee for a youngster but hopefully worth it.

Cheers ed.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

17 Jun 2017 16:23:53
Signing Onekuru could bring problems for us in the longer term . If he didn't improve his % of international appearances we may have a player who doesn't qualify for a work permit in England and hence resale value may not be great.

Agree0 Disagree3

17 Jun 2017 16:16:25
Ed007 . Thank you far clarification that a work permit for a footballer can be easier to obtain in Scotland than in England .
I think it was two years ago when I tried to make that point but I was laughed at and sneered at .
Long runs the fox but in the end he is caught.

17 Jun 2017 10:26:32
Any of the EDS now if we are still after Henry Onyekuru or not?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - We're still interested but the fee is too high while there's so many interested parties in England but all of them will find it difficult - maybe even impossible - to gain a work permit for him, even under the 'exceptional talent' rules. It would be easier for him to gain a work permit if he signed for us.}

17 Jun 2017 14:12:32
I read somewhere that if teams spend more on his transfer fee it becomes easier to gain a permit. No idea if there's any truth in that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - English clubs could pay an inflated fee and seriously inflated wages but there's still no guarantees from what I know about it all.}
