Celtic Quick News reporting we are back in for Denayer on loan again due to City being close to a major signing which will change the dynamic of their team for a domestic and European challenge. Can't see it happening as Boyata plays in that position although Denayer looks the better defender.

Perhaps if VVD leaves?

Just read on Brazilian Celtic supporters page that we have agreed the loan between Man C for JD and looking more likely that Hooper is coming on loan also. Again with the loans.

Would be a good signing our defence looks weaker without him but that's down to the partnership with Virgil, Boyata needs time but his passing is dodgy and he switches off a lot but he's got a few goals already. Still a defensive LB would be good for Europe

So ave heard loads of people say the mystery player is the one and only Zlatan!!

Comments from player and club would indicate he may well leave.

And of all he players mentioned he is actualy a regular goal scorer.

Can't see it myself but wow if it was.

Would have been hilarious if he had joined us and put his ex team and where it all started for him in football Malmo to the sword haha. They idolise him and have a suite in their stadium named after him and everything.

Personally I still think the mystery striker will be Soriano if we progress to the CL Group Stages.

On the other hand there may be something in the Zlatan one,in a recent interview ,when asked where his next move would be he said it may be surprising, and he is already on record as saying he would one day like to play for Celtic

Lol Zlatan joining Celtic! Never going to happen!

18 Aug 2015 00:13:13
Ha - I stuck a fiver on Zlatan weeks ago at 50 - 1. Don't really beleive it but it's nice to dream.

Could you imagine if the board came out with £10m signed Zlatan, Grosskreutz and got Denayer back. Insisting big VVD stay till Jan. We would finally have a team for the CL that's not just there to make up the numbers and should be more than capable of last 16 possibly 8.

Call me mad but I don't think the above players are out of reach for the club and deals could be done if the board made them happen. But let's face it Never going to happen but a great fantasy. Lol.

We all grumble about players coming to Celtic to top up their pensions but I'd gladly take a 36/37 year old Zlatan in a couple of years if he was willing to come just to tick it off the list. He's something else.

Ed you heard anything about this rumoured loan move for Gary Hooper? I would be absolutely ecstatic it this was true! Best striker we've had since the Larsson, Sutton, Hartson days. The guy was a goal machine and also chipped in with big goals in Europe and against them

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - It must be a slow news day. In the same weekend Hooper gave an interview about how his aim was always to play in the EPL and how he still hopes to get into the England set up, I can't see there being any truth in it. The last I heard was Notts Forest were interested and Bolton if they can find the money somewhere.}

I really hope that rumour is a lot of rubbish he can't get a game for Norwich even last year can't believe he is the same player we had and we can't afford to wait until he is back to full fitness and sharpness back

The guy was good for us. Did chip in with some important goals. It can hardly be a step forward though can it?

The amount of chances we squander is scary. A lethal finisher is what's missing. I'm a big fan of Griffiths but how many goals would Hooper have scored in the last 2 games if he'd had the amount of chances Griffiths got? If we can take him on loan with an option to buy it would be a great piece of business, as if he can't shift the weight/get back to his best then we get shot of him after a year.

I think one of our problems is that there's no proper poacher. The amount of times I'm screaming for a man to get across the front post to meet a cut back! Griffiths does a lot of good work but so many times the main striker isn't in the box or midfielders won't go beyond like lampard did so well at Chelsea. I hoped scepovic would be that type, but I don't think even he knows what type of player he is. If anything we need someone lazy, but then as a lone striker that doesn't work and deila doesn't like lazy players!

1st post,

Im not 1 for players returning after the leave thinking the grass is going to be greener but hey, we all make mistakes in life!
I think on this occasion we should do everything in our power to get HOOPER 88 back in a hoops top.
He was great for us and we were great for him, he got us a lot of important goals when it mattered at home and in europe, even away from home in europe and scored a few against the mob who died a few years ago.
It might even get the best out of Stokesy again if he is still will us as the had a great partnership 1st time around.

Come home Hoops, you know it makes sense!

LM67, NT87.

That is our biggest problem. Lost count of the amount of games we've not put them away. Fact of the matter is we haven't even had an SPL/SPFL top scorer since McDonald. 'Nuff Said. Just not good enough for Celtic. I hate being so negative, really I do. But can't help it. When you're trying for CL and you've got the option of Griffiths and Ciftci up front.

NT 87 you are correct we don't take our chances and we let too many in at the back. That is a recipie for disaster. I really think we are up against it on Wednesday and I think it will be 0-2. Malmo smashed Saltzberg 3-0 and they are a decent side so looking at how we have played at the back over the last 2 games ( shipped 4 goals) I am nervous about Wednesday. I know we have scored 6 and that should give us confidence but Malmo are a different clas to killie who are poor and Inverness who are a new team this season. I admit that when Brown and co came off we were poor so maybe it will be better on Tuesday as the Killie game was not a full strength side and until the changes on Sat we were home and hosed butbI don't think we can afford to ship any goals on Wed. I would bite your hand off for 1-0.

I agree the guy WAS GOOD FOR US but that was then this in now and yes WE DO NEED A CF (as soon as) but for me he is far from the solution

The story I saw was that this would be a *loan* deal. For me, that's just kicking the fans in the tadger.

I liked Hooper, but would rather just have someone who came alive in the box and would score crap goals in the 6 yard box. In a 4-2-3-1 that is what you need as you should have 3 players providing chances in behind or from crosses. The worrying thing is that the type of player I am talking about wouldn't get near Ronnys team. Ciftci seems to like doing work in the channels rather than a target man. He was the same at Dundee. Griffiths I think is more effective up top at the moment.

It sounds like I'd like us to sign Mark Yardley eh.

Hooper rumour how true is it? I'm torn as to whether we need him back, we all want this top class striker to help in Europe, I still think the lad can produce in Europe if he was to come back.

Take him back in a heartbeat he is the missing piece of the jigsaw a lethal poacher who scores goals I know he left thinking the grass was greener but u have to say he was amazing for us!!!!!

Celtic got the best of hooper and he made the wrong call moving to Norwich on a football level although financially he's better off. If we persist with one forward then hooper would be a useful as scepovic etc as his best days like all our forwards are better 2up top. Sadly I don't see us signing anyone better to play a lone striker so I expect a season of beating domestic teams narrowly due to players not being clinical often enough.
