I realise this isn't a rumour but after reading that Borreighter is injured again, why are we spending these 2 millions here and there gambling on an injury prone player when we could easily give young players like Paul George a chance in the first team?

After watching Ramussen score twice for Denmark last night and Bangura play well against us and Balde not getting a look in to the team, does anyone feel that Lennon tends to hold grudges against players and ship them out under the radar.

The transfer activity (or lack of) has worried me for a couple of seasons.
People will point to Hooper, Wanyama, Izzy at his best and Mathews; but for every gem there is a couple of bingers.
Murphy, Bangura, Juarez, Lassad are a few and then there are loan disasters like Brozek, Gershon, Miku and Ljunberg. Obviously you can add a few to each of the lists, but we certainly do bring in guys we don't utilise or get the best from.
Mouyokolo was a big risk that failed and Boettiger looks another Burley who will sit out more weeks than he plays. I don't know what the score with Balde is with Lennon, but he does look 'raw' - and not a £2m guy!
Considering what Russell was worth and we had Tony Watt already?

Why is anyone on here surprised that this guy is out injured, you just have to look at his career, he has constantly been injured and many at his previous clubs accused him of feigning injury, I posted similar to this the day he got carried off on his debut and I said then it was money wasted. His nickname of "the tampon" is now looking to be kind to him, at least then he would play one game a month. Anyone got a new nickname for him? I'm sure some of the posters on here can come up with a few belters. Stevie

On many occasion I have queried/challenged the signing policy over last few seasons and have just about always been shot down by the usual comments of being negative or not understanding the restrictions of real quality/complete players coming in.
Add up the wasted millions and think if we'd pushed the envelope on just a couple where we may be

All me and my mates ever say is that our signing policy is risky to say the least - John Park is doing a good job, not unbelievably super humanly amazing like many fans believe. We have signed a few players that a novice would tell you that would never make it so how do you explain that, - I think the simple answer is percentages, for every good one there is an ok one, and a poor one. The lad that just got sacked at Cardiff was very highly rated by everyone that seems to know him(I think his name is Ian Moody/Moony) but he had more to work with than John Park. I say it until I'm blue in the face - we are ALWAYS trying to scrimp and scrape, we never push the boat out/take a chance. As we speak we are short in defence, Mathews just got injured/Lustig is struggling, we have no cover at centre half, and if you are playing a 4, 2, 3, 1 formation we don't really have a striker that suits it. With regards Paul George - I was told about 4/5 years ago that the boy was going to be a star, now I know he had a bad injury about a year ago but he is about 20 now so he, along with a few other kids have to step up now and show they are good enough, from what I have heard a lot off our young players don't put in the hours compared to say the German kids, they are not dedicated enough - they might think they are but the proof is in the pudding. We lose far too many players at this age, to be fair though I mostly blame the coaching because double sessions should be standard, not an option or on occasion. If only we could have Pep Guardiola for 1 week to offer advice to our manager/coaches/players! Paul

Fellow bhoys, where did you read that Derk is injured again? Tried to find it online and all I found out was that the break has given him time to work on his fitness.

Cheers

I think we have a ratio of every good signing we have 3 donkeys. I think Lawwell realises that as well and doesn't trust Lennon with big money the way they did with O'Neill and Strachan to an extent and using Rangers not being in the league as an excuse, we should be pushing ourselves on to compete in the champions league not being happy with a league title.

Spending 3.5 million on Juarez, 2.2 on Bangura, 1.4 million on Darryl Murphy, 2 million on Balde. Never mind the wages he handed out to Kapo and Ljungberg.

I hate to say it but I think the board are happy with Lennon to get them through this period and are hoping someone down south pays big money and offering Lennon the job, and Lawwell will give him a lift to the new club

Rasmussen? Bangura? U bein serious? Woeful fitba players. Young bhoys like paul george I won't slag off but if they were good enuff they wd get games. Forrest does mcgeoch does mcgeady maloney jamie smith etc all did at very young age

@4 paul great post I agree 99% but at the end regarding pep guardiola, he's been in charge at 2 clubs, Barca, Bayern Munich. that's not a challenge in my opinion, put him in at Everton, Stoke or Swansea, ., .kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair do's kbarry - it's just his philosophy I love, they gave that Man City team a complete doing. A better example though might be Brendan Rodgers who did a great job at Swansea before he moved. The football played by 80-90% off clubs in the UK is draconian to say the least, - get it out to a full back/winger and put a blind ball into the box. The Brazilians have been doing it for I don't know how long, the Dutch were doing it 30 years ago, The Spanish have been doing it for a while more recently. How can we not pass the ball/control a game? I don't enjoy watching Celtic - play breaks down after about 5 passes at the most, and it's all to do with the coaching because you can make players better/more technical if they practice it enough. Take care mate! Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember celtic vs Lyon under O'neill, 23 passes henke crosses miller scores. Similar again henke crosses Sutton scores. Controlled the game with passing and keeping the ball but its sad to say that the team we have now is nowhere near the team we had then.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye they gave man city a doing, but the Bayern team from last season with hienkes(spelling) ripped apart barca with ease, man city got ripped apart by ajax and dortmund(spellin) last season. Pep has hee haw to do with how good Bayern are just now, he has took over a team ready built to destroy many teams. I think pep is good, but I agree give him a challenge where things aren't already in place to be a success. But back to original posts point, I was also wondering why we signed derk, he was out injured for ajax for most of last season and we spent 2mil on him, I'd of prefered to see GMS join us. I don't think its a matter of trust between PL and lenny regarding money, I just think PL is tight fisted. when did PL give wee gord a decent amount of money? I don't remember too many big signings apart from JVH or Naka, anyone else was got on the cheap, do we forget about adam virgo? Strach signing and how mince the guy was, everyone has a dodgy signing or 2 I think lenny ends up with more that usual as we can't attract the players lenny wants, as I think the boy finbo wanted to come but the transfer fee was an issue for PL, not lennys problem in my book. He and JP will spot players etc it upto PL to do the business and if PL can get a cheaper option over the player lenny wants I'm sure that's who he would go for.

As I've said before, the prices banded about for the likes of boerighter, Balde etc, I do not believe for a minute they cost 2m a pop, I believe that's including signing on fees and prob wages then our PL puts it all together and to keep us happy? Alson re: JVOH&NAKA both weren't that dear therefore were good/decent business(2m&1m), ., .kbarry

Ed . Heard a wee rumour that Boeriggter will not be fit for the upcoming games . If true have you heard the extent of the injury or maybe it's just a nasty rumour . DH {Ed007's Note - Reports in Holland are saying that he will not be fit to play against Ajax because of his ongoing ankle injury.}
