How ironic just watching Juve v Roma injury time Juve 1 down get a corner still about 30 secs to go and ref blows for full time and doesn't let them take it ha ha. Stevie

Interesting reading the posts tonight about Izzaguirre and his recent form.
I don't believe its a coincidence that he is 'back to his best' attacking form and Samaras is out injured at the same time.
I have posted a few times that he often has nowhere to go (on the overlap) - because Sammy is already out hugging the left touchline - he ends up wandering inside and gets caught out of position.
Will be interesting to see what happens with his form when the big fella returns. . . kbt1978

Glad he's back. I was getting sore fingers typing out mesgs defending him and listing the last 15 left backs the club had and how not one of them can touch him. Some folk wanted him off to West Ham soon as they heard they might be interested. I'm just glad the manager and coaching staff are making the decisions and not some of the armchair football "experts" on here. Also I would like to say the post regarding him playing with Sammi does have some merit. Although I can't get the vision of that move Izaguirre and Samaras done for Hoopers second goal against original dead Rangers when we beat them 3-0 a few season ago.

Almost an isolated incident IMO - great as it was, all too long ago now. . . . kbt1978

i said on here before hooper was only hitting form because the transfer window was open and he was desperate to win a move to england and if he was still here after the window closes he would be just as bad as he was at the start of the season. so far he's failed to score in the last five games since it closed we should have took the money

Why is it folk that post p*sh never leave a name? We knock in 6 today and because Hooper never scored the jurys out, from where I was watchin the guy still put in a decent shift as did the whole team. . . Stevie

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he didn't score today? can you not read I clearly said he's not scored in his last five matches since the window shut

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair it doesn't matter what you said. . as soon as you don't tag your post its rendered pointless, especially when its a load a garbage

MikeyBhoy

Agree1 Disagree0

Member he scored 4 against raith rovers and people were shouting for an England call haha

John

Agree0 Disagree0

A load of garbage why? because he's a celtic player and when it comes to celtic players we must all be delusional and lose the ability to speak the truth. hooper has scored 13 goals this season 10 of them was in dec/jan when the window was looming only 3 throughout the rest of the season now its closed he's failed in his last 5 if you can't see that pattern and the fact he turned down a new contract then you must be blind niall mcginn has out scored hooper this season in the spl and we let him go and if you think we are going to get multi millions for a player who sits 5th in the spl, s top scorers you must be delusional we will be lucky to get our money back for him (no tagged name )

Agree0 Disagree1

Nonsense! Ever since he's been at the club Hooper has been very temperamental. He'll go 3, 4, 5 games without scoring and then score 5 in his next 4 or 5. He's always been that way and more often than not he takes his scoring form into the big games
Kevbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper has scored 23 this season so far, not the 13 you claim. Also if you had any knowledge you'd realise there's more to his game than just goals. And before you spout any more crap in reply, if you ain't going to tag the post, don't bother

MikeyBhoy

Agree1 Disagree0

Load of garbage why, he has scored 23 that's why and I for one don't want to sell him, he must be a great player when he can turn it on and off the way you are saying, his all round work has been great this season.
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the point that is totally missed when people accuse players of turning it on/off to suit the transfer window is this.
Scouts from other teams know exactly how players are performing throughout the season, not just around the transfer windows.
All the players know this, so this mythical "switching off" when we're out of the transfer period is nonsense.
Players need to be performing over long periods, or whole seasons, if they want to attract interest from the top clubs.

Sure, they may be able to squeeze an extra 5% of effort if say the England manager is watching, or Alex Ferguson is in the main stand, but that's human nature.
Scouts from top clubs are not stupid.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder if the OP actually goes to Celtic Park? If he did on a regular basis he would see the workrate Hooper puts in every week. That boy gets battered and bruised, sets up chances for others and occasionally is seen in defence helping out.

DazzaBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope he doesn't score another goal this season if it means him staying. He's worth more to the team than just his goals. Think maybe you are a peepil in disguise if yiu can't see that

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes scored 13 spl goals ok he scored 6 league cup goals 4 of which was in one game and if they where spread out a bit more we might still be in the competition champions league goals are not up for question as that's the goals that will get him a move but even big sammy has out scored him in that aswell hooper wants to leave and if you can't face that fact your delusional

So many plus points in that performance today. Lenny showed a lot of nous in sticking big Charlie in front of Daly, normally your centre backs have to come with him but this move stopped that making us a lot more secure, although the big man nearly ruined it by gifting possession for their goal. Izzy carried his recent form on and was excellent I thought, constant overlapping and good crossing. Ledley had his usual unsung hero type game, always shows, always tries to keep good possession, and works really hard for the good of his team. Matthews, despite a ridiculous yellow card and penalty decision, had Utd's main danger man in check the whole game. Efie and Wilson were calm, good on the ball and moved the play very well and Forster was at his very best, his save from McKay Steven as good as the penalty for me.
The biggest plus was Stokes and Hooper seemed to have the understanding they had back on track. Hooper was very good, movement and distribution was excellent, and if Stokes shows the same commitment and sharpness he will be a shoe in for a start. Nice to see Rogic get some pitch time, clever user of the ball this boy, and he will only benefit from more games. Every player looked sharp and on it, even the subs fitted in seamlessly, it was a good day and actually a great game to watch. Special mention to Jackie Mac as well for always trying to make his team play. Like Lenny he tinkered with his team all through the match but we were pretty imposing today. Great display off to enjoy my garlic chillie chicken now! HH

Absolutely delighted for stokes today he was class and deserved his goals today, I've said before he is our best forward player. If he can knuckle down now c'mon tony bhoy,. ,. kbarry

Believable10 Unbelievable7

Stokes is not our best forward player.

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree1

Joeshmo1888, pound for pound he's scored more goals than hooper, also he's a celtic supporter who wants to play/stay with celtic, therefore in my op he's our best forward player,. ,. kbarry

Agree1 Disagree0

Pound for pound he's scored more goals than Hooper? I don't really understand what you mean. Week in week out Stokes does not come close to Hooper. That's why there's millions being touted for Hooper and Stokes was at Sheff Utd, Crystal Palace on loan before moving to Hibs. The guy is good but not consistent enough to be a first team regular IMO.

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

And hooper was at grays, Scunthorpe and someonelse a think before celtic? So what's your point, do you need to start at barca, Man Utd, bayern, to be a good striker?

John

Agree1 Disagree0

Stokes 68 29 43%
Hooper 84 57 68%
Apps - Goals - Strike Rate

Agree0 Disagree0

If it wasn't for stokes, hooper wouldn't have scored anywhere near as many goals as he did last season, it was always stokes putting it on a plate for hooper!

Agree0 Disagree0

Does every1 4 get that stokesy has only come back from injury in last few games. wiil probably upset a few people on this site but without stokes hoops wouldn't have scored half off his goals without stokesy setting him up (and I mean in seasons hoops has been at paradise) rant over

Agree0 Disagree0

My point regarding Stokes was, he had a chance to come to Celtic a few years back but chose Sunderland, where he wasn't good enough, then followed 2 loan spells and a move to Hibs. He is hot and cold. Hooper was at Grays and Scunthorpe and has been a sensation wherever he has been. He is working his way up the football ladder. I like Stokes, but he ain't no Hooper.

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Joeshmo1888 stokes started at arsenal pal, went on loan to falkirk at a raw 17/18 year old teenager and tore the league up, He did not knock back celtic for sunderland either, celtic did not pay the couple of million arsenal wanted. Most other posters have put your right though. . Try and get your facts right next time mate, and also get it Stokes will be at celtic a lot longer than hooper will, An by the way iam a huge hooper fan,. ,. kbarry

Supposedly guys wer getting put out the min they walked through the turnstyles the police had names and mugshots without any prior warning they wer getting banned from entering so the rest not 2 bother going into the game. don't know if this is 100% true but its what av heard

gunniebhoy

Agree1 Disagree0

Heard four of them got lifted before game so the rest stayed out the park in protest

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunniebhoy has got it pretty much spot on although missed out the removal of a "sectarian banner" which was a zombie banner. The lack of police understanding of their own laws is astounding. More of the same from Strathclyde's finest who say they're acting on behalf of the club with names/faces to be banned. While the club say they know nothing about it. Has happened a few times this season but yesterday was the worst. MrCheshington

Looking forward to the game today, let's hope we get a good turnout. A few injuries mean Lenny will have to alter a few things, I would hope Rogic plays, and that maybe lift the gloom a wee bit. Be nice to see Jackie, and of course Simon, back at Celtic park. I would think they will try to frustrate us and turn the crowd, so let's not get on our own players backs. Shame Gershon is out I really like the look of that guy, and let's hope Efie gets a good reception to show him what we are made of. He f**ked up! But it's over and it was not deliberate!. . green jhedi

Hi ed and readers
I know in the past Celtic have had success in the bosman dealing, did we snap anybody up in the window on the QT, if not who can we realistically look to be signing in the summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

I would sign jonny russell
if wanyama goes I think kayal would slot in there I like kayal always gives you 100 percent and is good at breaking up play but I like the look of rogic hopefully he plays today see more of him I think we could do with a pacey winger

Morning ed,

Buzzing for the game today, should be a good one and get right behind the team after a poor result but a great performance on Tuesday, opportunity to get behind efe if he's playing as the guys still young and will learn from what mistakes he makes, out of the games he's played he's been excellent so I for one won't be giving him a hard time.

On commons speaking out about efe I think yet again he's been cornered by press questions and they have spun his answer but no matter what Lenny would have got anything sorted and get the heads up.

Been a celtic fan for 23 years now always have been always will be not matter what happens so I'll be there loud and proud once more.

Also looking forward to welcoming back a true gentlemen to parkhead today was sad when jackie left and Simon too but excellent to see them still heavily involved in football

Great to see Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly managing one of Scotland's top tier and most dynamic exciting clubs.
Welcome to paradise boys and well done in your recent 3-0 destruction in the cup game. Kind of made Green swallow his boycott call as he sat and watched.
Today is an example of how exciting and vibrant Scottish football is post the cheating Rangers FC.
