First time post and probably a bad start but friends working in Manchester say there is a bit of talk about Walters leaving Stoke with Celtic among others being asked about any interest?

I think he would score goals up here but not the no 9. we need.

Derby want Callum McGregor to replace Will Hughes, should he leave for the Premier League in the transfer window.

Momentum in bringing in Leigh Griffiths expect him to be a celt this time next week

Jamiebhoy7

Believable15 Unbelievable24

Griffiths is close to signing for Leeds.

Agree0 Disagree3

The only momentum seems to be coming from his agent, and the strange little fan club that's seems to havbe popped up overnight on here, we have registered NO interest whatsover. FACT.

Apparently Griffiths' agent has been approached by Celtic over last few days and sounded out about a move this window. According to Griffiths a figure of £1.25m mentioned.
Wolves in no rush to sell, he would be keen on move as fallen out of favour last few months and getting a bit of stick now off fans when he does play.
I've mentioned this one before and got a few negatives or unbelievables buy no reason to lie. I'm on here regularly and not going to post something to then look like an person.

A lot of people seem to h8 the idea of him signing, but a lot of the same people then go on to say what about signing May, McKay and even Boyd because there scoring in Scotland.
Was he not top GS in Scotland last year

Agree0 Disagree1

Wolves manager: “There has been no enquiry or bid or any contact from Celtic to Jez Moxey, Kevin Thelwell or myself at any level, ” he said.

“Leigh’s agent is someone we speak to pretty regularly and he hasn’t mentioned anything.

“At present I’d suggest it’s all media speculation.

“Whether that builds up towards the end of the window and that changes, I don’t know.

“But I can only speak for where we are now and we’ve had no approach or enquiry for that player.”

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Griffiths is a really good striker - better than Stokes. Better than Pukki - think Griffiths would be a good strike partner for Balde. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree1

He is a good player works hard and produces a bit of magic been a while since we had a forward who scores screamers

Agree0 Disagree0

To the unnamed poster quoting wolves, don't believe everything you're drip fed through the media.
This came from a friend of mine who is very close mates with Griffiths and in contact with him on an almost daily basis.
I'm not here to justify my contacts or what I've been advised. What I do know though is that what I said previously is entirely factual.
If he signs, then I think its decent value and will certainly be the 20-30 goal scorer in SPFL we lack. Whether he can then step up to CL is open to debate

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit shockin the amount of fans slatin this transfer if it happened considering we are screaming out for a goalscorer which grffiths is scorin 20+ in a rank rotten hibs team. How can people say he's not cl class if he's not been given a chance yet? imo he's defo worth the risk considering the amount we have spent on unproven strikers who can't or couldn't hack it even in the spl when this lad has proved he can score 20+. I'd be more than happy if he signed

GunnieBhoy

Agree1 Disagree1

Agree with that, he works hard for he team, scores goals of the cuff, don't think he'll go to celtic but I wish he could

Agree0 Disagree0

What happened to the £6 million striker?

Joca

Agree1 Disagree1

Griffiths is a finisher great pace ( something we lack up front. Good feet wicked free kick out and out finisher plays on the shoulder ideal hooper replacement scored goals wherever he has been . Why spend six million on a striker from championship or abroad when you can get this young scottish talent for 1 or 2 million it makes sense to me ( oh and well done for signing johanson he looks a real talent .

Chalky bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Monkeybhoy, Michael Higdeon (Motherwell) was the top goalscorer. Griffiths & Billy McKay were equal in 2nd place. ~ Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope this deal gets done think he would be a good signing I just think about Scott McDonald 700-750k and he banged in the goals for us and did well in the champions league I think Griffith could be the striker we are looking for take the pressure off commons and another plus young Scottish international.

Just another Stokes

ML

Agree1 Disagree0

If Griffiths is the answer to all our problems then there's a serious problem at Parkhead. The guy is a d!ck and doesn't deserve to be anywere near our famous shirt. He could score 40 a season bit either way he will cause problems, mess up our dressing room. If he was that big headed at hibs can you imagine what he will be like with us? Pukki and balde up front for me. We don't need a striker. We need lenny to play some of the guys we have. Atajic, balde and even watt then there's the big iclandic bhoy.

Can't sign him, can't play for 3 teams in one Calander football season

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You can be registered for 3 teams in one season but can only play for two of them.}

Stefan johansen confirmed for three and a half years

Believable25 Unbelievable10

Who interviewed johansen outside CP? I saw on TV was it that incompetent person what's his name Raman? Whoever it was doing the interview he was pretty obtuse and far from welcoming. The new Bhoy dealt well with the pratt and seemed to find his aggresive manner amusing. Welcome Stafan. I have a good feeling about this signing. Sopotcelt.

Agree1 Disagree1

Fantastic, just what we need. ANOTHER midfielder! We are packing nothing up front! Priority should of been signing a striker cause stokes (our best of a bad bunch) is never a striker.

KP1888

Agree1 Disagree0

I agee up to a point. Midfielder or not this ones a good un as is Biton if he gets played! Look at Johansens assist and goals its impressive. Also do we need a striker or a change in selection and tactics? It seems to me we have real talent already at the club if lennon would but play them and use the correct tactics, develop a proper system or both. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

The priority maybe a goalscorer and it may be we have that in the works. The fact that Johansen has arrived and signed now is merelly sequencing, not that he was the most important signing. We still could lose a key midfielder in Ledley, so this feels a pudent move.

Agree0 Disagree0

A bit more positivity lads eh? Stefan comes highly recommended. His team won the Norwegian top flight last season, he won Norwegian POTY. It was only last week that John Carew described him as young, heart of a lion, Duracell rabbit with tekkers, humble and hard working; so we could be on to a winner IF he gets a chance! Centre mid isn't as strong as you guys are making out:

Johansen (DM) - new signing
Biton (DM) - good vision, passing
Broony (CM) - captain
Ledley (CM) - out of contract in June/July
Kayal (CM) - injured
McGregor (CM) - out on loan
F Twardzik (CM) - just back from injury
T Rogic (AM) - possible loan away
D McGeouch (AM) - possible loan/sale

We could be left with just Johansen, Biton, Broony and Twardzik for DM, CM + AM come February!

Agree0 Disagree1

IMO we needed a midfielder. Most of our midfielders are box to box or ball winning midfielders. Need a Lubo / Naka to make things happen. Hopefully Johansen can provide that spark. That must be the thinking seeing as he's got the number 25 jersey.

ML

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on ML hopefully this guy is what we've been waiting for for me celtic play with too many midfield battlers and not enough vision to make defence splitting passes that I believe pukki will thrive on

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2014 19:36:04
the bhoy has confidence as I heard he asked for number 25. bhoywonder

Agree0 Disagree0

We should give him a chance. If Joe leaves then it is like for like. Only thing I would suggest is give Balde a run up front and have Stokes playing just off him. With the vision this Johansen possesses they could just feed off each other. let's wait before passing judgement. Remember Lubo, Larsson & even Hooper. weren't rated but given a chance by us. The best supporters in the world.HH

Agree0 Disagree0

Henke was rated but slated by the press for a slow start and IMO unfairly. 12 goals in his first season was hardly a disaster and he did not consider himself a main striker at that time. He had also played in the semi final of the WC and scored a few goals in the finals of that tournament before he joined us. You are right to point out some fans did not rate him but those were the ones fooled by the Chick Youngs et al and the other self proclaimed Partick Thistle fan reporters.Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

He looks like he can put in a good ball and find a clever pass through the middle which helps when we play against teams that just sit back and defend. Agree with BigD Pukki and others will thrive on this kind of player as Brown or Ledley don't have that creativity. Also him and Brown in the middle for CL would be good for the team providing he's not another CM with a left foot

Robert snodgrass rumour picking up some pace. Can see this happening now or in summer

Believable15 Unbelievable29

Work with a friend of Robert Snodgrass he says he wants to move back to glasgow and would take a wage drop. He didn't say if Celtic have made any approach though

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully picks up pace not to be true. Don't think he's much (if any) better than Stokes, who isn't good enough himself!

Jordan Rhodes, Charlie Austin, Danny Ings, Aron Johannsson, Alfred Finnbogason, Jonatan Soriano, Ivan Santini, Garry Mendes Rodrigues, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Vincent Aboubakar
- these are the kinda guys we should be looking at, proven natural goalscorers!

Thot he played as an attacking midfielder or out wide

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a winger, he normally plays on the right, but with Scotland he´s played both sides, I would swap him for forrest in a flash. i'm sure he's a tim as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Snodgrass is a big celtic fan as well. Posts on twitter about celtic all the time

Agree0 Disagree0

1. Because he's a Celtic fan doesn't mean he's any good; 2. He's not even a striker, he's a winger; 3. He's not the out b out goalscorer we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Much better player than Stokes who is clearly a confidence player and tey rarely are thought of a fully successful over a celtic career: Blinker, Thomson, Petta, Caldwell, Agathe, Douglas, Donnelly. There are loads who had spells of brilliance and poor spells, good Celtic players are consistent, his consitence is in not scoring and passing when he can pull the trigger, I'd sell him. Everyone else gets drop for bad form but him, Lennon's buddy?

Agree0 Disagree0

Snodgrass won't join, Rhodes won't join!. why well ask yourself this where do you want to play epl or SPL? arsenal or Aberdeen? Rhodes will be away to EPL this month or summer.

Realistic celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Needs to be now so he can be settled for champo league qualifier next season . Leigh griffiths will be a waste he will be no good in Europe . Bring in Rhodes or danny Inggs
