After tonight I would love to get Rhodes at Celtic do you think it will happen.
Paddy

Believable16 Unbelievable10

Really hope so. He appears to be making the right noises at the right time. If we qualify for the champions league group stages, I think Rhodes would be a Celtic player. Ian L

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would come. I just hope we can afford him. It wouldn't surprise me if Huddersfield slap another million on his head after scoring a lovely goal for Scotland last night.

Agree0 Disagree0

Scored on his scotland debut and his movement was fantastic all night paddy,i say get him in before his stock goes threw the roof. please NL!
smilerbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

It is clear that the majority of Celtic fans would love us to sign this young talented lad and he seems to be a model pro as well.
His movement and heading ability reminds me of Frank Macca when he first signed for us.
The longer we wait the higher the price so I reckon our hesitation will price him out of our budget and give the Board an excuse for letting another gem slip away.
Please prove me wrong Celts and sign him!

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

He was 25 to 1 to sign for us last week. Now 12 to 1. Blackburn and Fulham strong favourites at the minute. Heres hoping though.

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

He will not be at celtic, fact. The tight fisted board
Will make sure of that , more interested in budget buys to try and make a profit from , take murphy bangura the ra man, pure dung the money spent on them could have bought a great striker .

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more with post above. 6m tops for Rhodes, is cracking business. I fail to see where the risk is with him. Young, naturally gifted - movement, finishing etc, a model pro and will only get better. We need to act now and realise how great an addition he would be. Celtic board take note ffs!

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic will never pay 6 million for Rhodes, not in 6 million years! {Ed007's Note - Nobody will pay that for him just now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with that, we wouldnt pay 6m, however, say we did - all Im trying to say is I still dont see that as a risk. He would be worth every penny in my eyes!

Seamus :)

Now that RVP is off to Man Utd, expect AFC to win the race for Ki! If you know wot a mean :) They have money now, after spending 40m on 3 others. We know Mr. Wenger goes for young players, and he is after value for money....£7-7.5m will be a good deal for them also.

Posted a few months ago about Rhodes saying dont count us out of the running yet.I was told his dad would prefer a few years with Celtic gaining experience, and lenny had impressed his family with his plans for the future.Very telling that he came out and stated his Celtic credentials last week...............green jhedi

Believable11 Unbelievable10

Let's hope so, the bhoy is gonna be a star and with us he will get cl or el experience

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know if this is true or just pure guff. But I got told we had a deal in place to get Rhodes if we qualify for the CL . so guess we will need to wait. and see

hail hail

Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard that to marco, 3m plus murphy, few add ons if we qualify. delbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers delbhoy. I was not told any details of the deal just that it was waiting for us to qualify .

hail hail

Marco1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a hope at 3m guys - the lad won't be moving for less than 8m, as we don't need to sell. Sure Celtic are a big club, but does your league offer a step up for him? Champions league is an attraction, but that's 4/6 games max and just can't see that being attractive to a very level headed and ambitious footballer. {Ed007's Note - £8 million is never going to happen mate, seriously it isn't.}

Would you guys like to see skippy back at Celtic?

Believable10 Unbelievable24

Never wanted him in the first place so what has he done to merit a comeback . Never forgave him for his celebrations that day.....DH

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take back McDonald no problem he should never have been allowed to leave, mowbray ripped the heart out of that team

Agree1 Disagree0

If hooper or stokes was to be sold then aye but we still need a different option up front. Someone that can head a ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

What a stupid answer! I forgave him as soon as he scored against spartak and I think he would be a good back up for hooper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would take him back in a second still looks sharp

Agree0 Disagree0

Got lazy after second season still scored regularly against them . golden rule dont sell players who score against them . as for fir park . grow up.

Agree0 Disagree0

It wasn't a stupid answer it was an honest one . McDonald is in the past time to move on.......DH

Agree0 Disagree0

He more than made up for what happened at fir park,he scored some big goals for us

Agree0 Disagree0

He celebrated like he'd won the Champions League when he won the league for Rangers. I'll never forget his face that day. Unforgivable! He won't improve our team and he should have never played for us in the first place. I'd love to have Rhodes though.
Anton

Agree0 Disagree1

Knowing his family here i can tell you it was a very bitter pill to swallow that day, but he loved Motherwell, they gave him a chance and he took it. If not for them he'd have ended up back here and that would have been a waste. He did make it up to us, he is Celtic daft and didn't deserve to be moved on by Mowbray. I love the bloke, but i dont know if he'd fit back in now. Hooper was his replacement and he's going along nicely.

Melb Bhoy (formally GoldCoastBhoy)

Agree0 Disagree0

Naw naw , done fk all at boro an not scored for his country in 25 starts naw...derbycelt

Agree0 Disagree0

You mean Offside, McDonald?

Agree0 Disagree0

More than made up for that day at fir park, but he has had his day.NL is breeding the stars of the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

His day has passed look to the future

Agree0 Disagree0

His second touch on the ball was always a tackle. Believe he was the one leaking stories to the press plus he was greeting faced on the park. Apart from that he was ok but l would'nt want him back.

Gareth barry on loan for a season ? From the huddleboard

Believable3 Unbelievable16

One of the worst rumours I've ever read on here. In Man City's starting 11, on about 80k a week, we don't need midfielders and he's sh*te anyways. Nonsense

Agree0 Disagree0

Gareth Barry, if only but no chance!

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely not.

Agree0 Disagree0

No better than Ledley imo

Agree1 Disagree0

The days of us getting any 1 like barry are well gone

Agree0 Disagree0

This may have some creedence if the rumours of there interest in wanyama are to be believed. May b some sort of deal to b done

Agree0 Disagree0

These rumours are getting poorer and poorer,we couldnt afford his right boot, and a part from that hes over rated defo no better than ledley....................

Agree0 Disagree0

Would take ledley anyday. Barry is nothing more than an english scott brown and we have one already

Ed if Celtic get into the CL(15m) sell ki (8m) what calibre of player do you think we are likely to sign and how many signings do you think will be brought in ? Point number two if/ when we win the league this year do we go straight into the CL next year or will there be a qualifier ?

Kieran {Ed007's Note - We go into the second qualifying round next year, a round earlier than this year. I think there will be 2 or 3 signings but it could depend on who leaves and what we need.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I think we will sign ambrose, henricksen and vaughan. thats only if we get into group stage of champions league. we wont sign a player for more than a few million regardless of who we sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Before everyone shoots me down. What would happen if we actually won the CL? Still second qualifying round? Remember this is a rumours site {Ed007's Note - Winners go straight into the group stages.}

Hi ed. How u mate? All this talk about everyone wanting Jordan Rhodes is he that good ed? He was playing league one football. European football is a big step up for the young lad. Their would be huge pressure on the young lad if he dose sign to score goals in Europe. If he dose sign I hope he is top class because he won't be cheap. What's your thoughts ed? Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note - I'm good thanks BIM, I hope you are well too mate. The thing with Rhodes is his potential, he is a great prospect and can score all sorts of goals. He is a level headed young man so should handle the pressure no matter where he ends up. The prices being bandied about are a bit optimistic, a lot of the offers from England are connected to add on fees based on his progression and the new club's success. Huddersfield don't need to sell and Rhodes would happily stay there for another year.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rhodes is on fire...just scored against the aussies now! get the boy signed up asap

ED007 I remember a post from you about making more of the Celtic fans in USA on Newsnow Celtic there is a very good article on improving the service to our fans in America. I mentioned before I have friends and
relatives in different parts of America, some subscribe to Celtic TV and pay
$280 for the privilege. I have been told streaming is poor and coverage and
commentators are amateurish. Also on the Newsnow post it said we
do not have any Celtic outlets in the big Irish areas like Boston, New York
Philadelphia. The club should have a presence in these cities and good quality Celtic merchandise should be available.
In this article too, it makes the point the club are more interested in these
expensive, poor value subscriptions than offering our ex pats a good service. One idea was Celtic PAY to show games one one of the American sports channels and get the money back by advertising.
The author also said we should be informing the viewers about Celtic's
heritage and football philosophy. We have a vast untapped market in USA
Canada, Australia etc.. with fans wanting to be more involved with our club, but feel ignored.
Especially now this season surely someone at Celtic MUST be looking at improving not just our income but our IMAGE to these fans.
Send people from the club to do a survey among our Celtic fans in USA
ask them what they want from the club, what they are willing to pay and
what kind of Celtic merchandise do they want to buy? Timalloy

Believable13 Unbelievable4

If my memory serves me correctly, I recall Fergus buying out an American TV company to facilitate Celtic covrerage in USA and Canada.

Agree0 Disagree0

ED007 can you throw any light on Fergus buying a tv channel? Surely the powers that be at Parkhead would have utilised it more for our USA Celtic fans Timalloy {Ed007's Note - No mate, I know it was looked into as FM knew the kind of money the club was missing out on but I didn't think anything came of it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey,

Interesting post and I agree. However with regards to merchandise I find the offical celtic website to offer the best value for money and delivery charges, I have used it once or twice and sometimes they offer free international delivery. What I would think Celtic should do is Open coaching schools in these areas as I have seen the likes of barcelona , chelsea etc do this , this would greatly raise the profile of the club, and of course at least one match a year in the states I would travel even to see a reserve team play

No place for Charlie Mulgrew in Scotland's starting side tonight with Levein opting for Berra and Webster, with Danny Fox at LB

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Good! We've got enough key players out injured.

Agree1 Disagree0

Good don't want our most consistent player picking up any injuries . I would rather Levein would have left out any Tic players with CL games coming up.....DH

Agree0 Disagree0

He's called up Ian Black...enough said ! I usually follow Scotland but Levein has to go ! Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree4

We've got more important games to worry about never mind a daft Scotland game.

Agree0 Disagree2

It's a meaningless friendly match tonight. I would much rather all Celtic players were left out the squad with a view to next weeks match in the champions league.

Agree1 Disagree0

Levein is a Buffoon! I am slowly losing interest in the Scotland team after 20 years of underachievement, old boys networks and nutless suits who can blame me! Sopot Celt

Agree1 Disagree0

That's good, and he doesnt seven know how to use him or the others for that matte. How is he still in charge? He has to go for Scotland to have a chance!

Agree0 Disagree0

Craig Levein couldnt pick a winner in a one horse race. Personally I dont want any Celtic players playing in this just now, we have got bigger fish to fry than a friendly against Australia with people like Ian Black in the squad. Under Levein Scotland have gone backwards at a rate of knots. Get him out and though it pains me to say it, get the cardigan back in charge, at least under him we actually competed. I was at the home games for the last qualifying campaign and we were murder, dread to think what will happen to us this time round with a back 2 pairing of Berra and HEED......Sure I must have some Spanish or Brazillian blood in me somewhere.....

Agree0 Disagree0

There are no Celtic players in the starting line up. I find this disappointing. I know we have key CL games coming up but we are a Scottish team and this is the national side. Scotland have a WC campaign starting next month, remember?

Agree0 Disagree1

Was wondering if anyone knows of any good promising players coming through the Irish league,as a few have bn snapped up in the last few years. Eg. McCourt,Mclean,Doyle,Hunt.

Agree0 Disagree1

Can't remember the last time i even half agreed with a Scotland line-up. It is a meaningless game though so hey ho, at least Charlie won't get injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually didn't think too badly of Levien for some past things. Bad advice, wrong decisions etc. however he has overlooked Scotlands player of the year last year and our best performer so far this year in Mulgrew and Commons. My conclusion is that i made a bad decision too, he's an absolute plonker of a manager if he thinks any of the players in Mulgrew or Commons positions could do a better job and that's not even mentioning the 3rd division players inclusion !!

Mind you i would rather they stayed injury free ahead of the CL qualifier but i highly doubt that thought was high on Leveins agenda

Gary

Agree0 Disagree0

I dislike most International football and my first Scotland game was notorious for Jinky getting dogs abuse in favour of Willie Henderson and subsequently replaced.
It set the seed for a deep suspicion and mistrust of how Celtic were treated by SFA and when reading through my Celtic books and historical references it is very clear that many top class Celts were given a minimum of International Caps or in some cases over-looked in favour of a rival of lesser ability. I won't even start on the covered 'Rangers' end at Hamden for so many decades.
The past 4 Scotland managers sums up the great Glasgow 'divide' and I am delighted when no Celtic players are used in meaningless bounce games when we have so much more important things on.

One player we missed out on a few years ago - Steven Fletcher, Wolves now value him at 15m, I think at the time hibs wanted us to up our bid to 2.5m, we slipped up big time. I'm not saying he's the best striker in the world, however we could have made a few quid selling him on....I'm sure we lost the league that year? Due to lack of signings. All be it we lost it to a team spending money they didn't even have.still annoys me we didn't sign Fletcher. Ian L

Believable13 Unbelievable5

He is never worth 15 mil it is only the the over inflated english game and if we payed the 2.5 mil for him i dont think we would have made money
he only made an impact when he began scoring in the premiershiip which made he fee to high if he moved to celtic we would have been lucky to recoup our money as he was never going to improve playing in the spl

can you name any player from the spl that have moved to the old firm from another spl club and made a big profit after leaving

Agree1 Disagree0

That's true if he was playing for celtic he would be worth perhaps 4 or 5 at the most now. Still he would have been a good addition if we had him for this year. I wish he could get back in the Scotland set up as we could really use him for WC campaign. Won't happen so long as Levein is in charge though. Great shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

That crazy decision by the board cost us the league that year AND the following ones.

Iain

Agree1 Disagree1

Brian Mclair of the top of my head. So if Fletcher was banging them in for a couple of seasons, scoring in the champions league or europa league no one would have came in with a 5m bid for him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard afterwards hibs refused to sell to us, celtics offer matched his selling price and he wanted to sign as we were in CL after Christmas. I was same as you and thought was usual penny pinching but was not case, I believe Hibs felt at the time they had lost too many players to ourselves and the now defunct club

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm Sure Strachen Was Wanting Him And Left And When Tony Mowb Came He Used The Money For Fortune Instead
Goldnbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Corrcet...lost last day. Couldnt score any goals that season, fletcher would have won us the league (for an extra £400k). It was a stupid policy as league winners went straight into champ league.....stupid decision which cost us a fortune..

Agree0 Disagree1

The reason Steven Fletcher never came to Celtic is because he is massive Bluenose (not saying that this should be an issue, as we as a club welcome individuals from every walk of life). It was entirely his decision. Heard this from my brother-in-law who used to play for the 'tic under Strachan. HH

Agree0 Disagree1

Fletcher said he didnt want to sign when we went for him so what were celtic to do ? hold him at gun point till he did !!

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesnt matter if he is now worth 15m, the reason he is is because for the last few years he has been playing and progressing against much stronger defences and teams, if he had signed for us he wouldnt be the same player that he is today

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason he is 15 million is because he scored goals at burnley and at wolves in the premiership we would nva have got 15 million for him if, scott mcdonald scored more goals that him wat did he go 4 jelevic only went for 5.5.................

Agree0 Disagree0

Burnley bought him for around 3 million and if neil lennon rated hooper worth 25 million what would he rate fletcher because fletcher is in a better league (hysically and metaphorically).
