Hi ed, good work as usual mate, 2 questions to all 1 simple other thought provoking,
1 We seem to take in a lot o trialists have we ever signed 1 in all those years if not what's the point.
2 Here goes would anyone accept Celtic going all out spending 100 million and above on Messi Ronaldo and the likes and winning the champions league only to be liquidated and comin back as "THESAMECLUB" in lowest division because after all a precedent has been set. It would be our 2ND European Cup would it be worth it. Get stuck in guys lol.

The SEVCO fable isn't true, it's a yarn for kids only.

Your 2nd point av used that as an argument with them loads of times, never mind just celtic anyc*nt could do it .
Moyokolo what bout Kapo was he no a trialist

Agree0 Disagree0

Trialists tend not to work out mate. the above two being the perfect example then the lad at killie now ibrahim (who I thought was great against us for the first half and another former celt gardyne who was a constant threat)

your second point is interesting but we are celtic and were not a corrupt bunch of losers who spin lies on a daily basis. love the way our club is being run right now

Interesting thoughts Rayman. I don't know about trialist but I do know I wouldn't want us to be liquidated under ANY circumstances. Not even for another European cup. To answer the question, it would not be worth it no. We have the upper hand now for years over the rangers soap opera and why would we want that carry on. Fran

Good replies guys, I personally would because it would be another thing we got over them. they got liquidated tryin while we got liquidated doing it lol. But it will never happen just a fantasy. Interestingly though asked the same question on the sevco site strangely enough never got posted, wonder why lol.

would you really want to con people into working for nothing even face painters have to feed their faces

Agree0 Disagree1

Ramon vega wasnt a trialist.
And 2 have had they thoughts myself, although if we done that they would change the rulz to really bury us, ., .kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Could spend 800 million on the barca team and still not guarantee the cup, as for doing it if we could hell no, Celtic family stands or
More then just a shirt and some cups, I'm proud to be a fan and proud we play the way we do on and of the field, ill die a happier man knowing we played fair and got our success that way, quack quack

Agree0 Disagree0

There would be no point as it would be the old co's cup x 2 and we would then have to decide if we wanted to follow a new club with no history etc. and it's just not right screwing everyone over just because you can't accept that you don't have the right to win everything.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mouyokolo was a trialist.

Agree0 Disagree0

1, want to upset u guys cause you mite send a report away to uefa complaining that everyone's against you boohoo 2, weren't Celtic mere minutes away from being nomore? {Ed007's Note - Here's a perfect example of some 6 fingered poster trying to use his Blackthorn addled brain, and people are complaining about us wanting people to register? Even Gumbo wouldn't admit to typing that. Imagine having to read this kind of shite 50 times a day. At least you have accepted that Celtic were saved and Rangers weren't though but I bet you had to get someone to read it to you.}

ed: as it is international week and boring how about a debate o players who were at the club at the wrong time (ie we were rubbish as a time at the time) I get the ball rolling
1/Tommy Coyne
2/Darius Dzakenowski
3/Darius Wdobczyck

Believable3 Unbelievable10

I liked all three of above, what about
:Martin Hayes(arsenal&1st, top div scorer)
:Stuart Slater(1.5M record sold for half)
:Tony Cascarino(well Cascarino), ., .kbarry

Agree1 Disagree0

This is sort of the opposite of what you're saying because we definitely weren't rubbish at the time, but thought juninho could have been so much more than he turned out to be. i'm from the boro and I grew up watching him at the riverside and still to this day believe he's one of the best players the epl has ever seen. he was in the twilight of his career when he signed for us though so I guess it's to be expected.

suppose there's an argument for robbie keane here? the team lennon inherited from mowbray was appalling and he still scored for fun, would have loved him during the MON or even strachan days.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sure we swaped Cascarino for Tom Boyd. What a brilliant deal that turned out to be!

Whit aboot the 2 half-wits Macari signed:
Carl Muggleton
Wayne Biggin's

Agree0 Disagree0

Did that polish boy dzakenowski not score 4 against partizan if I remember correctly?

Agree1 Disagree0

Piere, Di Canio, cadette

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye Jackie scored 4. Think we won the game 5-4. Got put out on away goals. A guy wi tights on scored late on for them to knock us out if I remember right.

If I understand the OP correctly, the question is about great players playing in poor Celtic teams. You would have to put Paul McStay top of that list - his loyalty to the Club probably prevented him reaching his true potential elsewhere.

TomTheTim

P.S. I would also have liked to get Lubo a few years earlier than we did.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it's got to be Paul McStay. One of the most gifted, loyal and committed guys to ever pull on the hoops, unfortunately for several years surrounded by guys with a fraction of his talent. Also endured clueless managers like Brady and Macari.

Hail to the Maestro!

It must be happy days if this is what we are discussing :)

John Collins and Paul McStay (laterly) deserved to play in much better Celtic sides than they did .

Paul mcstay played in a great team with danny mcgrain roy aitken murdo mcleod brian mclair etc winnin leagues and cups. Vin {Ed007's Note - In 16 seasons playing Paul McStay only won 3 league titles, 4 Scottish Cups and 1 League Cup. He is by far one of the finest CFC players of all time and deserved to win a lot more trophies than he did.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Ed. McStay played in a good Celtic team for 2 or 3 seasons. The rest was in poor teams when we were struggling financially. Wouldn't it be great to see a 20 year old PMcS in the team now?!?
Im 37, and I spent every night over the park as a young guy telling everyone I was Paul McStay, a true Celtic legend.

After the UEFA cup final I walked to the bus park to get my bus. Paul was there with his kids, waiting on the bus next to me to open. It wasnt the time to get pics autographs etc. I just said "hi Paul, how are you" he just looked and said. "devastated". Just wish i'd met him in better circumstances as he seems a absolute gentleman

joeshmo1888 {Ed007's Note - I have met Paul, Willie and Raymond quite a lot over the years, my mammy actually used to babysit them years ago in Larkhall and my older sis went out with Raymond for a while when they were teenagers. The three of them also went to the same school as me and were more than happy to come back for charity events etc after they left.
Paul was a hero of mine as well, it must be common in our age group (I'm 39), a true gentleman and a true legend.}

Agree1 Disagree0

So are we name dropping now Ed007?! Lol
Ok, I coached Danny McGrain's daughter at hockey, was a friend of Jimmy Hood's daughter, went to school with Johnny Colqhuon and Charlie Nicholas is a family friend! Oh and I've met Billy Stark in the Indian and see NL regularly in the pub! Ha ha :-) {Ed007's Note - I hope you are female, how the hell does a guy get into coaching a silly wee lasssie's game like hockey? I assume you made sure the ironing and the dishes were done before you were allowed out to coach hockey.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Iam 36 and yes Mcstay was my hero, ., .kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO, We have had many. Dalglish was part of a very poor Celtic team in the mid 70's. Paul McStay, Paul Elloitt but for me Frank McAvienne was one of my favourite's and he also played in a very poor Celtic team. At the time when we signed Frank he was arguebly the best striker in Britain having scored 29 goals in England's top division. Could you imagine us doing that now. We would have to sign someone like Rooney, Van Persie or Luis Suarez. He maybe won the double but when you go through that team it was a pretty ordinary team apart from Frank and McStay.

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally though our 87/88 team were class under big ceaser, ., .kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Certainly the maestro (who knocked back offers from Italy and England) - he just loved Celtic, we have never had a midfielder even close since, someone who sits and controls a game, obviously we had Lubo, his best position was a no 10 though! Also I would say Paul Elliott who is the best centre half I have seen live in a Celtic jersey, if we had him now he would make some difference-he had everything, he was very quick/great balance/brave/aggressive - it was a real shame that not long after he signed for Chelsea his career was over because off that Dean Saunders challenge. For those that can't remember it was a challenge similar to the one on John Kennedy! Paul

Hail hail
Ed do you know what happened to the young uragain we had on trial he looked good

Matt 1888 {Ed007's Note - As far as I can see he has signed (or is due to sign) for Rampla Juniors back in Uruguay.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Another waste o time trialist. The fans shouldn't even hear about this rubbish unless they are going to sign., ., kbarry
