Plans are currently being discussed about a two-week pre-season training camp in China. The Hoops will face similar preparations for European qualifiers as they did this season, and it is expected they would travel to China at the end of June.

Not this nonsense again, two weeks into the season and we'll be moaning we're tired with all the travelling. Stevie

Agree1 Disagree0

What's the difference we moan were tired every year, even when we dnt go far like this year.
Seen as were restricted financially playing in Scotland we need to explore every avenue for money.

too many fans bothering with money and not asking why the purchases are so bad, profit does not win games players do

Agree1 Disagree0

With out profit we wouldn't be able to spend 10 m in a pre season playing in Scotland, we won't always have champ league or a wanyama to sell.
So profit is required for a successful football team on field.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will win the league and got Champs League Group stages so no need to spend - was a bit wobbly but we made it.

We aren't realistically going to get better than that. I think that whilst it was a great achievement last year and we are missing Hoops and Vic, we were lucky at times.

We need to do this for the long haul IMO so we shouldn't spend big.

I would however, like us to blood more youths into the first team and show a bit more faith in them especially as Sevco aren't here. Also, we need to tie our stars down on contracts well before they expire. Then at least if they leave we will get a big fee. That is where the board are missing a trick I feel.

Agree0 Disagree0

@JhimmyT That's the kind of ambition, or lack of it, that's been holding this club back for years. We're screaming out for a creative midfielder, a real winger on either side + a goal scorer. To say we don't need to spend money is ridiculous! If the men pulling the strings, with the fans on their back, we could have went on to better last year instead of this "we're only here for a party" mentality. Our club and fans are becoming like the Tartan Army!

Agree0 Disagree0

I want us to win HamiltonBhoy. Hate the notion of us being there for a party. Compare what we get with a championship side and you will realise spending top dollar is a total gamble

The club needs to be run right - if we had bought Finnbogasson or Jordan Rhodes in the summer that would be great and I wouldn't have complained - far from it. We just need to cut our cloth accordingly not gamble on getting to the last 16 by spending all our profits.

Our ambitions should be long term - no point spending big on a quick fix. All I would criticise the board for is not tying Hoops / Ledley on longer contracts whilst they have 2 years left rather than leaving it till it's a year.

We are in an uncompetitive league and only need top players for Europe, it's a fact.

TONY Watt has been sent home from training for the second time during his loan spell at Belgian club Lierse S.K.

Manager Stanley Menzo reportedly ordered Watt off the training ground after the teenager refused to comply with training ground instructions.

Menzo sent the striker home last month after a row over plans to play Watt on the wing.

The 19-year-old striker, who famously scored Celtic's second goal in their 2-1 win against Barcelona 12 months ago, has been involved in several run-ins with his new manager since his transfer deadline day move.

This young boy has lost his way, will be another Derek Riordan. No place for him at paradise.

Agree0 Disagree2

Derek Riordan is a very good comparison.
Unfortunately the kind of skills needed to reach and turn around young men is rarely found in football managers.
I hope Watt reads the blogs and I hope he sees the comparison with Riordan and finds it scary enough to find some self discipline. He needs to realise nobody wants to cut his balls off and make him tame. People want him to be outstanding but he has to find that trait of all professionals in every walk of life, SELF DISCIPLINE.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suggest offering him on Loan at Hibs. A spell with butcher would be an effective boot camp for him. A last ditch to save the bhoy from himself and to justify our investment.

Sunny Jim.

Agree1 Disagree0

We tried that with Blackman, Sunny Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Marky, I think andre Blackman was a different situation really, he was never good enough to play for the first team, I was quite surprised when we signed him in the first place. I think he was a free and worth a bit of development team time to see if he could make the step up, but alas no!

On the topic of Mr Watt, I truely hope the rumour I read about him telly Danny McGrain that he couldn't teach him anything is wrong otherwise that signals a serious attitude problem.

When celtic were away down at Brentford in pre season he started that game (I was there) and he had a chip on his shoulder from kick off, he strikes me as a real sulker who needs to smarten up fast.
Hail hail

On a different note, has anyone seen the old video of Blackman tackling Lennon by accident? Totally wipes Lenny out. Great entertainment. {Ed007's Note -

If the Icelandic player signs which looks a possibility, I hope he will be given game time in the first team. By all accounts he is a good young player who knows the way to goal.
But as we Celtic fans know only too well, most young players hardly get a sniff of the first team, are then loaned out and then allowed to leave.
If Celtic are to continue with this policy of buying young talented, but unproven players, then the lads must be given a fair chance of making the step up to our first team.
Play at least 2 in most SPFL games, or at least as a sub. Do what Arsenal do, and play mostly young players in the early rounds of the league cup (we could not do any worse with our recent performances in this competition) Even early rounds of Scottish Cup, depending on opposition.
In short if we sign them, then play them. Timalloy

Tony Watt sent back to Celtic.

Franny Bhoy.

Believable6 Unbelievable13

Sorry my mistake he has been sent home from training for the second time not back to Celtic.

Franny Bhoy.

Was he not sent home from training?

He is certainly not doing himself any favours by the look of the reports(which may be rubbish).
He looks like he needs sat down and showed all the players with potential at our club that have fell by the way side thinking they had "made it" as a footballer.

Sometimes this stuff is in a person's character and they can't be changed. JC

Agree0 Disagree0

This is where we miss guys like Tommy Burns who epitomised the importance of Celtic to young players and got the best out of them.
OK there will be a few that get big-headed, loaded and lose their way; but if we are following a philosophy of nurturing and developing talent to enhance the club and eventually sell on for profit? We need to keep these young guys grounded and happy to be at the club.
Many now as I said in a previous post; are farmed out, forgotten or fail to blossom and that is the coaching staff's fault.

Perhaps it's all planned to help us with our striking? He was being played as a winger and didn't like it. He could be sent back.
