Was speaking to wee jamsie forrests cousin louise last night she said sunderland had a 3 million pound bid rejected for him at the start of july. wonder why its been kept quiet in the papers? don't know if they plan to make an increased bid or not. How much do you think he is worth?

Believable3 Unbelievable27

Wow,,, name dropping to make it believable!
Papers mostly talk crap, but the more they keep guessing, one of the hunches will develope.
I'm not getting involved in the Forrest debate as he's ok but promises so much more, what I would say is he's not ready to go anywhere until he gets back to top form and matures more or that 3mil? Looks generous

We might as well sell wee Jamesie and big Fraz and bank another 10 million and get a couple of loan signings in on the last day of the transfer window, that seems to be the Celtic way. We must be the 2nd richest club in the world i.e money in the bank (no debt) just behind The Sevconians of course. Stevie

Was james playing?
look back to my comments after the CL game and tell me if I'm being harsh.
a player who has failed to achieve from 3-4 yrs back, I don't get any satisfaction but not up to it.
if we get a decent offer -set free

Let's assume that this is a genuine comment (aye, right). It would indicate that Sunderland and Celtic have conducted their business correctly. Sunderland approach Celtic, they reject, end of story. Professionally done.

TinyTim

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes too light and gets and I guess he gets tired too easily as he's always having a lie down

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly don't know why NL continues to play him, he's lightweight he's adopting a primadonna attitude on the pitch, goes down and moans to the ref at every challenge and apart form one or two decent games I dnt think he's light heather. In my opinion McGeough is a far better prospect and I'd love to see him get more game time ahead of forrest. if not I hope forrest proves me wrong, drys his eyes and gets to playing to the standard NL obviously thinks he can. If I remember rightly "he frightens the life out of me" was his comment after his debut game. not seen him play like that since. frightens the life out of me too Neil but for all the wrong reasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Forrest go to Sunderland at his age, Celtic are a bigger club and he'll go to a top team in years to come, he should stay where he is, Lennon has a good eye for a player, but I fear he made a blunder with McGinn so he won't make the same mistake by letting Forrest go to a lesser team.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a fan of james, but recently I have been wondering why he is in he team, he reminds me of wies(spellin) that went to sevco, one trick pony, if he can't get past his man 1st time he stops trying, looked like a lost wee boy last night for scotland, I wasn't impressed by him at all and I'm a huge fan of his, I think NL should be lookin to bring someone in to give him some competition, kick up the backside in football terms.

Tim Vayrynen being reported to be speaking to Heerenveen this week as Finnbogasons replacement. Looks like Alfred is moving, is it to us?

Believable17 Unbelievable13

Maybez we should Hi-jack this deal, am sure the price will be far less than the 5.3m they want for Alfie
The Bazman el FooF.

Neil lennon quote this morning after rejecting 5million from benfica for foster- we don't need the money! Should that mean we have the money there tht will secure a deal for fibogasson then

Peter Cardiff

Believable17 Unbelievable16

Sadly that's not the way it works. Celtic would rather take the money than go out and spend more than they have to. The general consensus is that Finnbogason is worth £5 million. I would not pay any more than that as he then doesn't become worth it.

Agree0 Disagree1

Probably but we are leaving it late

Agree0 Disagree0

Where is the quote from? Can't say any confirmation of a bid or Lenny saying anything!

Agree0 Disagree0

This fella is better then hooper so he is worth the 5 million that we should pay, and he will prove it when he moves to us, I can honestly see it happening in the next week or two.

Gazdcelt

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want anybody (Ambrose included!) being sold until 2 or 3 or maybe even 4 players are brought in. It's been too 'one step forward and two steps back' so far this window. Hopefully someone in before the play-off and once we're through we'll splash some cash on players who are going to make us a better CL side.

Agree1 Disagree0

I rate this finnbogason as highly(if not more)than Ricky van Wolfswinkel, and he sold for nearly double the 5M banded about for finnbogason, ., .kbarry

Agree1 Disagree1

Lenny might just be saying that so benfica will have to up there bid as the know we don't need to sell

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's be realistic, here, Bhoys, Scottish football hasn't got a lot to offer at this moment, what, with all the cheating and corruption that has went on with the football authorities and one of the top clubs, cheating and corruption that ultimately lead to the demise of that club, corruption that still permeates the game here, cheating that still exists by changing rules and regulations to illegally allow a new club without any accounts, integrity or respect to join the league in front of other dignified clubs who do have the legal requirements for entry into the league, on top of that, there's a lack of competition, a lack of professionalism with regard to match officials, etc, Celtic are a big fish in a small backwater pool, the hardest job we have is persuading the likes of Finnbogason to come here and play in such a league run by dubious authorities who lack any sense of integrity. One way of persuasion, though, is Champions league football, perhaps no deal has been struck yet, because it is the man himself, Finnbogason who is waiting to see if we qualify for the CL, before committing himself.

Finn

Agree0 Disagree0

Finnbogason forget if he wanted here he would have said, move on secure what we have or would you like to sell half the team and start again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Finn, that's exactly what I said on a previous post.

Forget about players being desperate to signed for "the famous Glasgow Celtic".
I really wish this was still the case, but with the state of the SPFL, any player worth anything will not commit to us unless we have ALREADY qualified for the Champions League.

I would sign for Celtic for free, but who the hell would pay to watch me?

My hope is that we get a result in the up-coming away leg that practically ensures we're qualifying. Then I would really hope Finnbogason will "go for it".

My big fear is that if we leave the tie "in the balance", we'll struggle to sign any top-rated players until the second leg is decided.

We all want to see great players signed, but this naive idea that our name and history should mean foreign players are crawling over broken glass to sign for us is miles away from reality, as much as it breaks my heart to admit it.

Players are choosing the likes of Wigan, Hull, Stoke, etc. over us these days ffs!

Still praying for Finnbogason though.

Hail hail from Siam.

{Ed007's Note - There is a new poll up. Should Celtic spend £5m+ (or whatever is required) to sign Alfred Finnbogason?

www.celticrumours.co.uk/poll10.html

Believable40 Unbelievable11

Spend the cash £5m now could be worth £10m in a ouple of years

Agree2 Disagree0

Go get him it's the. Least. We. Supporters. Deserve

Agree1 Disagree0

If he is our number target then we should pay whatever needs to be paid to acquire his services, within reason of course.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like a good target but the point that augsburg is after him makes me think how good he really is? would rather go for rhodes.

Agree0 Disagree0

£5M+ . that's quite vague. Don't think the board will go over £5M, maybe £6M at a stretch. Can only hope and wait

Verrix

Agree0 Disagree0

If there is a budget restriction on spending £5m then I say no. Yes he may be worth £10m in 2 years, but he may not, too risky.
Keep within your financial limits and trust your scouting team to find more gems

Agree0 Disagree0

If we spend exactly the money we got for Hooper then "yes". I wouldn't pay more than that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree we need a new striker and he fits the bill. If we need to pay £5M so be it, we also need a new CB. I would buy both but trim squad - we need CL monies and player sales to balance the books. It may be unpalatable to some but that is reality - I would punt Sammi

Thing is, surely any model the board are working on must be based on proportions of assetts/working capital that they can afford to invest. Now that model must be there to ensure stability and growth and if there is growth, surely there is scope for an increase in the limits of our expenditure. Just a thought. Daviebhoy77

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes the scouting team have found sum gems but they have also found sum duds.give the fans what they deserve a player to worship.ajw

Agree0 Disagree0

Why didn't we go for J.Russell?750grand no risk what so ever.al geri. HH. COME ON SCOTLAND. YES THIS GAME MEANS A LOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnny russell is not good enough for champions league end off story

Agree0 Disagree0

Cash we've wasted on bangura, Juarez, Murphy, Rasmussen and ljunbergs wages would've bought Finnbogason and puki. lennon has little confidence in balde too so add another 2mill. Don't be fooled by the supers scouts at the tic, there's been plenty duds for every victor. If he's good enough get him rather than waste money on 2 inferior players which has been the policy up to now as I see it.
