Does anybody think that it would be prudent to relieve Craig Levein of the Scotland job and replace him with Gordon Strachan right away ?

Green Judge

Believable30 Unbelievable7

Believable, although i dont support scotlands national football team i believe it would be a better appointment, saying that for all strachan done for us (3 outta 4) i still cant bring myself to forgive him for signing m.brown,pressley and miller what was he thinking(trying to prove)?,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree1

The SFA won't appoint GS because he's not a 'yes' man. I do like the man right enough and I also don't follow Scotland not after the shame game and Lennon was hammered whilst McSteakBake got off...fast forward to Boyle v Broon almost a carbon copy of the confrontation between McSteakBake and Lennon with Broon in the role of Lennon and Boyle in the role of McSteakbake yet the punishments were reversed and Boyle got hammered...they look after their own and until that organisation is cleared out from top to bottom I will never set foot in Hampden! (Incidently, did the SFA ever receive compensation from the late RFC for Mr Dignity and McSteakbake? Does anyone know this?)

Agree0 Disagree0

Definately, levein should be removed before he causes any more damage, we're out of the qualifying after 2 games because of his negative approach, get wee Strachan in and at least let him build a team for the next Euro's

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he was playing mind games with the rotten mob demonstrating we don't care about
your background as long as you produce on the pitch,a subtle dig at rankers signing policies and underlying train of thought towards us.
He's got to be a more decisive manager than Levein in regards to the situation with Fletcher and leaving Rhodes on the bench.These situations should have been sorted out a long time ago yet were heading towards Blunderville yet again !

Green Judge

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do you have a problem with ex Rangers players ? I thought Kenny Miller was a good signing and his performaces against Rangers were good although maybe not as good as his performance against Benfica,we should be big enough to sign anybody that wants to play/sign for us leave all other problems at the door off Ibrokes.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like kenny miller at least hes a tries gives his best he signed for celtic and gave his best keep that talk for the sevconians

Agree0 Disagree0

Would definitely like to see Levein out the door, he's mince. Havent thought too much about a replacement but wouldnt have a problem with seeing how WGS does...?

Iain

Agree0 Disagree0

I would replace levein. With Kermit the frog and would have a better chance of qualifying {Ed007's Note -

Agree0 Disagree0

Would probably agree that levein needs to go, but for me strachan would be an other bad apointment, 442 with no back up plan, it used to bore the life out me with tactics of get it to mgready an hit big jan, very boring to watch at times. Got found out at Middlesborugh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wgs would be fantastic as scotland manager he can handle players a wee fox

Agree0 Disagree0

Went to the 2 games there are no easy games anymore but we should be winning at hampden

Agree0 Disagree0

For me Dalglish is the only man we should be considering. He got slaughtered last season with Liverpool but what people don't realise is he was more succesful than Ferguson, Wenger and Redknapp. Liverpool had no chance in winning the premiership last season. The only chance they had of silverware was in the cuos. And Dalglish won one and got beat in the final of the other. Get King Kenny in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant believe the blinkers on people about wgs, did really well for us, as someone says further up found out at boro again spending a fortune on players who not up to the job, for every naka theres a adam virgo etc, his record games,win,lose draw are poor at all his other team and only 134 wins for us out of 203, scotland can do better i think,imo.so yes well done gordy you done good, how much was down to late great tommy burns god rest his soul, caution be careful what you wish for, the man who told us heed and mick mcmanus was the best we could get jarosik,donnatti tommy g and many more,buy buy buy for the middle yet lee naylor at left back. cant take away what his team achieved but what about what they never?bore draws at home because we never knew how to get round them too rigid and was never wrong when all could see he was, he was no hero of mine but tommy was, now i dont care what team wgs supported or played for,it was his manner and stuborn streak i disliked, no team left behind only memories .. davybhoy ktf

Agree0 Disagree0

In the old hampden there were crowds of well over 120 000 sometimes i think the staduim is not big enough for a national staduim of scotland it was a quick fix job we need a bit of pride back and fighting spirit shown by the players only for alan mcgregor making two great saves we would have lost the last game i thought forrest and dickson had good games lets bring in a few more youngsters always too much caution caldwell was shocking hes past it levien should have encluded kris commons and play rhodes from the start get wee strachan or dalglish in quickly before its too late

Edd just heard the team who wins the SPL this year is not seeded is this true and there will be 3 qualifiers? {Ed007's Note - Yes.}

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Ed will the SPL winners still be in the Champions route next season {Ed007's Note - Yes.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed when we win it this year do we still have to qualify next year ?....Stevie {Ed007's Note - The SPL winners next year join the tournament a round earlier than we did this year, so the second qualifying round.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless of course we win the champions league this year and go straight into group stages next year as defending champions! {Ed007's Note - I didn't want to say that ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

It will still be an extra game against lesser quality than the two rounds this year

As a life-long Liverpool fan i just wanted to say thank you to Celtic and their fans for the support and sympathy shown over the last 23 years. You helped from day one, while others wrongly pointed the finger of blame at the victims.
their is only one word to describe my celtc cousins ; Special.

I just hope this is a new beginning of sorts for all the victim's families and friends and that they can perhaps move on now that justice of sorts has been achieved. True justice will result in those involved in the lies and cover-ups being hit with the full extent of the law.

It's only taken an unbelievable 23 years.

God Bless. YNWA.

I was there at Celtic Park in 1989 the day we hosted the Liverpool team to play in a memorial game for the Hillsborough victims. Liverpool won 4-0 and Kenny played for both sides. I was in the old Celtic End and it was packed with Liverpool fans wanting to be beside their Celtic mates. A sea of Green white and Red is a special memory as was the constant exchanges of support and colours after the match between supporters. YNWA

I was at the Celtic Liverpool tribute match with 2 mates that were at Hillsbourgh on the emotional day. They are friends and I remember going to their house and checking to see if they had contacted their mum. It was worrying times thank god the truth is now out and the emergancy services are prosecuted to the fullist.

I was at the Tribute match and what a special bond there was. The Celtic fans and the Liverpool fans showed how much it meant to support the families involved. I am just so glad the truth is out and the rest of the world can see what we already knew, YNWA HH

Celtic have been cleared by football authorities of breaching rules through using an offshore tax avoidance scheme to pay a player.

The Glasgow club responded to a request from the Scottish Premier League for information on whether they, or any other club, had used employee benefit trusts (EBTs) to pay wages.

This came after the SPL launched an investigation into the widespread use of EBTs at Rangers to pay players between 2000 and 2010. An independent commission is considering whether the Ibrox club had fielded ineligible players by paying them through the trusts.

Celtic are believed to have used the trust to make payments to Brazilian midfielder Juninho in 2005.

The scheme is listed in the club's annual accounts for 2005-2006 where it was noted that £765,000 was paid into the trust by Celtic.

A statement from the SPL on Wednesday read: "We have seen reports regarding an EBT in relation to a former player of Celtic FC.

"The SPL has investigated the arrangements and documentation in that case and has determined that there is no evidence of any breach of SPL Rules. The SPL has therefore decided that no further action should be taken."

Celtic released Juninho in April 2005, seven months into his two-year contract after coming to a mutual agreement with the club.

This came after Rangers chief executive Charles Green stated that the newco owners would not cooperate with the SPL commission led by Lord Nimmo Smith, which is investigating the Ibrox club's use of EBTs.

In media interviews this week, Mr Green claimed there were at least two other SPL clubs who employed EBTs, but he refused to give any further evidence regarding them.

The SPL also responded to this in the statement: "The Scottish Premier League notes the recent statement by Charles Green suggesting that a number of other clubs may have used EBTs. If anyone has any evidence that any SPL Rule has been broken by any club in relation to the use of EBTs, they should pass that evidence to the SPL or to the Scottish FA so that their claims may be investigated."

Jungle Bhoy.

Believable12 Unbelievable5

At last we can officially put this red herring to bed.
Sevco fans this was ONE player which Celtic paid ALL the taxes in full.
Your club had a SYSTEMATIC use of EBT's for lots of players. And still owe all these taxes. See the difference? Neil T

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry Neil T have to correct you there. Rangers dont owe the taxes, as they have been liquidated. Its a simple point of law really. Mr Green can comment all he likes about what he has bought, but Rangers debts died with the liquidation. They are in the fourth division of scottish football for one reason only- they are a new club. The old club is dead. One day they will understand!
As for our ebt. The differencevwas it was declared as part of the contract to the spl. I understand Rangers did not declare theirs, therefore are in breach of the rules about declaring all contracts. Any deduction of previously won titles as a punishment would be from the old, liquidated dead football club, not "the rangers" that charles green has. Hope this clears it all up.

Agree0 Disagree0

The silly currants will STILL use this as an example of whataboutery!

Agree0 Disagree0

All very swift this.celtic inform spl lawyers/celtics lawyers and hey presto no case to answer but rfc still under investigation months and months later mmmmm i smell bullsh** {Ed007's Note - Have you tried wiping your mouth/chin?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic have no case to answer.
My question is who formally asked the SPL to look into Celtic? {Ed007's Note - Nobody asked. CFC willingly participated with the ongoing SPL investigation regarding EBTs. The club had nothing to hide.}

Agree0 Disagree0

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM don't smell the bull$hit man ,face the reality,oh sorry, you people don't know how to do that.

CELTIC Football Club would like to send its support to the city of Liverpool, Liverpool Football Club and, most importantly, to the families of the 96 people who died in the Hillsborough disaster on April 15, 1989.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: There has always been a strong bond between Celtic and Liverpool FC, and between supporters of both clubs, and the Celtic family has long supported the campaign for Justice for the 96.

On this important day, when previously unseen official documentsĀ have beenĀ released for the first time, the hope is that it will bring justice, and the truth about what happened at Hillsborough, a step closer for all those involved.

As always, our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of those who lost loved ones on that tragic day when 96 people went to a football match and did not return home."

Up late tonight watching re run of Andy Murray match (rather than Scotland game)
Ed I also saw on another forum that apparently Sally has signed up a player
Barrie McKay who is only 17 on a 5 year contract. Point being made is that under SFL rules only a maximum 3 year deal is allowed, yet both SFL and good old SFA allowed it.
Can you verify this is another rule being broken? Neil T {Ed007's Note - Shaun has got it wrong Neil. Once a player reaches 17 he can sign his first professional contract as per the usual contractual rules. People are getting confused over whether the player is still on youth/apprenticeship conditions. It protects young players otherwise clubs would just pay apprentice/YTS money for as long as they could.}

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Why are you so interested in a team in the 4th division mate? Or are you only concerned about barries best interests?
