I know its a long shot but would it be at all possible for Celtic u20s or development squad to apply for the current vacancy in the SFL? Also anyone know if the u20s were playing the clyde 1st team or unders?

Mikey Bhoy

Believable3 Unbelievable9

I don't think it is possible, I'm only saying no because Barcelona B should have been promoted to the top flight numerous times, but aren't allowed in the top division, because there is already a team from Barcelona registered. I don't know if the SFA have different rules, but I can't imagine FIFA would allow it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously they wouldnt be eligible for promotion to the SPL. Was just a thought as surely either u20s or development squad would bring a lot to the set up in terms of quality, gate receipts and possibly TV interest

Hi Ed. Can you tell me if there is construction work going on at Celtic Park. Someone mentioned a week or so ago that there was. Cheers {Ed007's Note - I don't know, maybe to do with the Commonwealth games preparations.}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

They are replacing the signage around Celtic park, like the Celtic sign at the top of the stand inside just under the flags, just upgrading things around the stadium

As per tony Hamilton on twitter

Cumby Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Any building is nothing to do with Commonwealth Games. I was on the tour 2 weeks ago and asked. There are NO plans to extend Main stand.(this was the rumour at time) Planning permission was secured for this in 70's. Celtic did apply for a grant to extend for Games but this never went any further.

I believe the cladding removed from upper sides of Jock Stein/Lisbon Lion stands is to add extra light onto Newly laid pitch.(only relaid every 10-15 years).

Capacity won't be going up to 70,000 {Ed007's Note - What are you talking about, really mate?????}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ehh..everyone assumes its main stand extension.. i was just confirming this wasn't the case. maybe you don't want answers being left.sorry if I mistakenly thought someone wanted info {Ed007's Note - Sorry mate, I didn't mean anything by it, I have not heard anything at all about the Main Stand being extended (apart from the usual about we should), I just thought it was just a bit out there. If that was happening I would think it would have been well publicised. And that would be major construction work, there will be work done to the stadium for the Commonwealth Games, just like Ibrox got the new TVs, Celtic Park will get some improvements, but it will be minor work done I would imagine.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes there is work going on its new disabled areas in the west stand

Agree0 Disagree0

Every stadium gets maintenance work done during the close season its no different from any other year

Agree0 Disagree0

The ends at CP are being replaced with club crests. My brother is working on it, he is a Cladder.

Victorsgonnaegetyou

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard the front of the stadium is being revamped and it's to be called Celtic Triangle.

Quote from Turnbull Hutton of Raith Rovers about team representatives for tomoro's vote.

“The best suggestion I had was that all the SFL clubs should send their mascots. Our Roary Rover and Sammy the Tammy from Dunfermline should go up arm in arm up the stairs at Hampden.

“It would be a fine pantomime finale for what has turned out to be a pantomime all through.”

evenin times are sayin that ki is going to qpr for 7 mil? they seem to think its a done deal with only his wages to be sorted our when he flys to london fur olympics what say you jedward/
wee pat wae a heavy heart ma son! {Ed007's Note - The only teams that have made a bid for Ki are QPR and Werder Bremen, QPR do look the favourites to sign him.}

Believable6 Unbelievable1

The Herald are claiming that Ki has agreed terms with QPR and that it will be official by tomorrow. If this is true i wish him all the best. Would like to have kept him for another few seasons but that's the way the big Green cookie crumbles i suppose.

DAMO1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool have supposedly asked to be kept informed of all bids...Ed, can you confirm this with 001?
heard about an hour ago that prices were asked, and we quoted 'bids are welcome in excess of 7.5m'
trying to find out who has made the calls ...

taco {Ed007's Note - There is no interest from LFC Taco mate, it was all paper talk.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Pat, is Ki goes for £7m reported fee, it will allow Lennon to go after Henricksen,and a strong centre half. He goes with all the best wishes of all Celtic fans. Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Ed, thought as much.

QPR are supposed definites as they want to raise their marketability in asia as much as possible. also heard lyon and udinese have shown an interest, one of these teams asked for gentlemans agreement if no actual offers were made by sunday

taco

Agree0 Disagree0

7m ?? Is this the same ki who has never shown up for an old firm game The guys mince !

Agree0 Disagree0

Great Business from Celtic once agian....well done PL and NL, get the right price.

Thanks to Ki for all contributions at Celtic, a fine footballer and I have no doubt will do well!

No lets get a solid CB in. I don't think Henriksen should be a priority, we need another striker.

Hey Ed, hope you're feeling much better. Was just wondering if you or anyone else on the page knows the best way to get to Estadio Nacional in Lisbon from the docks? I'm making the pilgrimage in a couple of weeks and I've never been before. Any advice or help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Danjam {Ed007's Note - I'm fine thanks Dan, I have never made the trip but I'm sure someone will be able to help.}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Dan jump in a taxi with the Hoops on the driver will no exactly where you want to go. This is probably the easiest thing to do because it's a bit out of the way. When I went the last time we played Benfica it cost about 15 Euro from the city centre. Well worth it though

Agree0 Disagree0

Danjam, you want to take the underground to Campo Grande I think it is called, went a few years back when we had George cadette and had a swatch, hope this helps....................TamBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

When I went in 07 i got a taxi mate. It was bout 20 euro from the centre of Lisbon. On the way back we got the Train. It was a 15 min walk from the stadium to the station. The train just follows the shore so I would image there must be a station near where your staying.

Daz the Hoopy

Agree0 Disagree0

Danjam:
I do not know exactly mate however I am sure we got a train from the centre and If you ask at the station or even on the train someone will guide you. Sorry I can't give more than this.

Hoopey67

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers everyone, I'm on a cruise so we're going from the docks but a taxi looks the best option. Thanks!

Danjam

Agree0 Disagree0

Was there in 1984 when we played Sporting easy to get to by taxi please please remember to take a ball so you can score into the goals as I have done. Fantastic feeling enjoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Taxi is by far the easiest....20 odd euro and 20 mins later and you're there.

there's also a bus that takes you along that route, but it has around 20 stops, taking about 50mins, but it only costs around 3 squid

taco

Agree0 Disagree0

I took a cab was there in 20 mins from center, I think the idea of the taking a ball is a great Idea to take pics for the grandkids lol (wished I had thought of that, DAMN) I would recommend the bus back though(as We did) in your hoops and see how the locals react, amazing, "ah ze cheltic" no sure how many hands i shook that day on the bus, magical the pull of the hoops.

Ed whats the current situation with signing a target man? We seem to have gone quiet on that front since Rudnevs went to Hamburg. A loan move for Jay Bothroyd wouldn't surprise me

TheBhoyLee {Ed007's Note - As of right now Lee I don't have any names that haven't already been mentioned, An approach for Bangura was rebuffed last week so I am starting to think that maybe NL has decided to give him a chance now he is fully fit.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I still think there's a lot more to come from Bangura tbh

Danjam

Agree0 Disagree0

Bangura definitely deserves a chance, most of the games he played in last season were when the whole team wasn't at its best so its unfair to judge him on those performances. The performances of Samaras at the Euros may also influence Lennon's persuit of a target man, he was superb for Greece up front and on the wing so we may not need anyone else

TheBhoyLee

Agree0 Disagree0

This would be a great decision by nl IMO, as I have said before the guy is adapting to absolutely every aspect of his life, new culture,language,expectations and highly dubious reporting standards.

Started, what two or three games in total? I'm glad those writing him off don't hold scouting positions at our club because you need to see more of a player than we have of Mo to get a fair reflection of ability or lack of, whichever the case may be.

Jamie Mac(good things etc etc)

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember how he freaked out Gary Hooper with a magical through ball at Easter Road last year. Good luck to him (Bangura)! He could, yes could be brilliant.. worth a chance to find out. TRP

Agree0 Disagree0

I would definately give bangura another chance, think he will be like a new signing this year

Agree0 Disagree0

We have Hooper,Stokes,Sammy and bangura as our strikers not including Murphy and Rasmussen,who I expect to be sold/released.

Away from home in Europe we will play one up which is,usually,going to be Sammy as he has the attributes required to hold up play,go on runs and be a headache for opposing defenders.

At home it'll be two up with Hooper coming in. Bearing in mind we have these four players I think it is obvious to assume,to me at least, that we won't be getting a "targetman" in til one of these go. We won't get a better version of Sammy til this happens, guaranteed. Thinking about his performance against Germany reminds me very much of his performance in udine where he was excellent but his side failed to be brave enough in committing numbers forward when the opportunity arises.

It could be possible that we could solve this problem by getting the ch in we are seeking. This would allow for 3chs,Izzy and Matthews wing backs with a four man midfield. Even if the wb is forward we would retain four at the back with one or two sitting mids still but,crucially, they can press that little bit higher due to four remaining behind.
I think if we do that and keep the ball when we have it, which is a MAJOR problem seemingly unnoticed, its logical to say we would be more dangerous. There are probably other ways to go about the task but unless you're man city its a slow transition.

Jamie Mac(just an opinion)

Agree0 Disagree0

I still feel we need a big physical centre forward if we want to progress to the next level! If hooper gets injured I think we would struggle to score goals in Europe! Stokes isn't cut out for that level but will score in SPL! And you just never know what Sammy will turn up even when he does turn up still doesn't score enough! That is why I would like to see another striker signed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im all for bangura getting another chance he had a really bad time of it since he arrived but he is never going to be a target man he's only 5' 9" we need someone tall and good in the air
bigD

Agree0 Disagree0

We should only buy a new striker if the right one becomes available at the right price and I am sure this is what Lennon is thinking. For £3million I think Rudnevs would have been sensational

It's annoying that last year, when the SFA etc where discussing league reconstruction, they said it was not an option (finanically) to opt for a 16 team league, instead they were trying to push for a 10 team league.

All of a sudden, if the SFL teams "play ball" we can now have a 16 team league. Just shows how much of a lack of intergrity there is withing the SFA etc.

Believable14 Unbelievable1

It's a good move, a ten team league would have been a step backwards. The more teams in the league the better, it will create greater competition for places.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we need a bigger league, but the whole situation stinks with all these carrots being dangled in front of sfl teams to allow whatstheirname into the 1st division

Hi ed... was wondering if theres any info on the season ticket pricing... will it be changing due to no rankers ? i have friends who have season books without the rangers game and they pay considerably less than i do .... im surprised theres been no mention from the club on this matter....surely we cant be expected to pay for rangers games and ins!tead be playing against dundee {Ed007's Note - I think someone said something about tickets for the Inter Milan game.............}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Ain't they charging us ST holders £15 for the Inter game??

Agree0 Disagree0

I just bought my Milan ticket yesterday as did my dad. So I can only assume that there must be something in the pipeline or maybe nothing at all.

Hoopey67 {Ed007's Note - It might be for kids ST that people have paid extra for the derby matches?? My mate said something about it, but his bhoy already got a free ticket through the summer soccer school the club runs.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I have parent and child tickets i only get the option on child ticket to opt out of old firm game the adult ticket comes as standard its purely because some of the child tickets start from £50 (depending on the area ) you need to pay more two old firm games are worth more than that alone but what happens to fans in the area normally giving to oldco will they be asked to pay more for the extra game ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Here we go,i bought my season ticket to watch CELTIC don't care who they are playing.Acting like them now.COME ON THE HOOPS
Tambhoy (the original)

Agree0 Disagree0

To above... the point people are making is not (WHO) we will be watching but (IF) they will be allowed to watch

Agree0 Disagree0

To the above.I think you will find the point people are making is they are looking for some form of recompense because we will not be playing rangers.
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Tombhoy I'm with you 100% on this one. I've paid mine and am not interested in asking for any money back. It's going into the club, that's all that matters. No offence to the others cos your bhoys like us but thats sevco patter your spouting. I trust Peter Lawwell and the other people in charge of how they are distributing our season ticket money within the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

So both the above has paid child tickets that include rangers games have you ? or is it just a case of it doesnt effect us so who cares ? it cost £50 for a child season ticket if you want to include old firm games then its £134 thats £84 a difference £42 each per old firm game more than what a full paying adult will pay on general sale now its £50 per season ticket and £134 if you want include both games against dundee £42 each per game for a child against dundee the point i made was will the adult ticket holders that doesnt include old firm games because their in their allocated seats now be asked to pay £84 extra to watch these matches {Ed007's Note - That is what I was meaning the other night, people who have paid extra for derby matches should be reimbursed IMO.}

Agree0 Disagree0

My answer was to the original poster(no mention of child tickets ),Should not matter who we are playing,if the rangers had been relegated would you still be looking for a cheaper season ticket. Support CELTIC we still need money to progress.
Tambhoy (original)

Agree0 Disagree0

If rangers had been relegated their would not have been a two tear ticket pricing structure on season tickets one that includes old firm games and one that doesnt everyone would have paid the same instead of the guy sitting next to you in the same area and same seating paying far less than you for the same package ... no one is asking for a refund because rangers are not in the league but their is a lot of people who has paid for old firm tickets separately because their season ticket does not include them some even purchase them in other areas of the ground as a separate package thats the people who is asking the question

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2012 10:31:13
Ed wee question, is Joe Jordan still at Tottenham and if not don't ye agree he would be a good bit of experience for the coaching staff. {Ed007's Note - Joe Jordan has left Tottenham mate, I would see that as a fantastic move if CFC could get him as part of the back-room staff.}

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Would love to see it, but i think he's too old for Lennons back room staff.

I've just jumped on to buy some new kits on the Celtic website, and it's asking for $100 or £40 pounds for delivery! I haven't finished yet and they want £40! I added some slippers for the wife, they're £12, which is fine, and the shipping was £12!!

4 shirts and a pair of slippers can't weigh that much, 2 of the strips are kids!

Is there another way I can order or ship them? Does anyone know? I'd rather spend the £40 (likely to go higher like I said I'm not done yet) on more Celtic gear.

GoldCoastBhoy

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Goldcoastbhoy, the person to ask would be Jungle Bhoy who works at Celtic marchandising. JB can you help our overseas fans? hail hail Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

Try going on Kitbag, a think the kits come from there anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get a price from the big couriers mate.DHL etc will probably ship you a 10 kilo package for under £20..........green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

If I had known earlier... sounds stupid I know but the mrs left for down under (Brisbane) this afternoon... she was taking two home and two away kits over for her friends there!

Agree0 Disagree0

I pre ordered the new home kit at the end of last wk. Didn't arrive yesterday! Checked online and it's saying back order... Been trying to phone all day and it keeps saying "all our lines are busy, please try again later" then disconnecting the call?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Kitbag is Nike owned so when you buy online,the money goes to Nike,when you buy instore the money goes to the club.When Nike started making the team's kits,they bought the mail order side of the business,they also done the same with other Nike teams.When tops or whatever fail to show,it has nothing to do with the club,even when certain styles aren't available for the store launch this is all down to Nike also.

GCB.....if i was in your predicament i would look to see how much it would cost for someone here to post as a normal package at the post office.Do you have any relatives in Scotland that could price the shipping costs,then add to the total of your goods and see how much of a difference there is.GJ's suggestion about DHL seems a good place to start.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

GoldCoastBhoy....if you would be happy to make some sort of arrangement with another regular on here, that might be your best bet......

make the purchase online, and get it delivered to someone here from the uk, then they forward it on as a gift (so you dont have to pay tax;) and that should be you

i'd be more than willing to help a fellow fan, but it's all about trust, and that's up to you

GoldCoastBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I got all my tax help from a porno mag....no, sorry, that was craig whyte...

it's good that you have relatives in EK mate, just tell them when they ship it to have it marked as a gift, i would use royal mail as the likes of ups, fedex etc, all charge their own 'handling fee' which is a percentage of the items value, then they add export tax as well.
so, if your stuff is worth under £400, send it international recorded delivery, and it should only cost around £20-£30 to post all in:)
