Hearing that ajeti will complete a permanent 5m move within the next week, not sure how much truth there is to it.
Would Ideally prefer we spent the money on defence if I'm honest where we are actually needing extra quality brought in.

It would be an awful lot of money for someone who's virtually unknown and has not played regularly for so long. I would be amazed if we parted with that amount on one player, but a gamble like this?

This boy is not virtually unknown, Yes he had 1 bad season with West Ham but he didn't really get a chance to play.
The boy was very good at Basel where he played along side Mio where he had a very good scoring and assist record, he is also a full Swiss international.

I agree with you mark to an extent, we are crying out for at least one defender, but we also need another forward .
That game at the weekend highlighted it, if eddy is being marked closely we have no one else that can help him out. Griff as we all know, prob can’t be trusted . After last season going missing for half of it, to not training properly during lockdown. He will now be pushed further down the squad .

It's a lot of money but a few of the bhoys on here saying he was excellent before West ham who let's be honest have a habit of wasting talent. the window is open till 5th Oct so we have plenty time to get a cb in. big Duffy would be my choice but can't see it.

Totally agree with all the points made guys, ajeti however isn't a relatively unknown player the way you could say klimala was, he played in the UCL with basel and actually had a decent record in Switzerland with elyounoussi before going to west ham. Also need to remember west ham usually play with one up top and sit deep and they signed that guy for 45m last summer who was ahead of him aswell.
Agree with you Quinn, we definetely need another striker in the building who we can rely on, klimala is a work in progress and Griffiths can't be trusted every time even though he's probably the best finisher we have.
I do think the kilmarnock game was a stumble and ajer/ jullien will improve but we undoubtedly need to spend money on another decent centre back and another left back to battle taylor.
If we do sign him for 5m then that's the best part of 9m for him and barkas which is a serious outlay without a defender yet brought in.

Yes according to the Daily Ranger Ajeti will arrive today to complete a medical and a permanent £5m transfer.
Defence is always our Achilles heel. Big Jullien is a decent player but he does seem to go to pieces when a burly forward puts it on him. That doesn't go unnoticed by other teams.
We need a bit of steel at the back, someone who'll go through an opponent. Someone like Simunovic without the injuries would be ideal. HH.

Not a follower of Swiss football at all so that's probably why I said he was unkown; however I also thought big Oddsoaks was unknown as well when we signed him, so hopefully Ajeti will surprise me.

If he does indeed sign then hopefully this points to us switching to the 3-5-2 as I can't see us spending 5m for him to sit on the bench and play back up, just hope this isn't a plan or backup incase edouard is sold!
Big jullien and ajer aren't the worse defenders but they're heavily prone to a lack in concentration when the pressure is on and that's a hole that needs plugged. Some might disagree about this but I honestly don't think ajer is suited at centre back, he'll bring the ball out all day long but when it comes to positioning/ timing/ marking he's lost and teams punish us for it.
A left sided no nonsense centre half who provides balance and just clears there lines would be an ideal addition to the team.

Not McKenna biggest fan bit think his meat head style but compliment the 2 Chris's in a 3 5 2 or even allow ajer to step into midfield. i've always thought he could be a natural successor to brown.

Definetely agree with that point above and would think ajer would be more suited to playing defensive midfield instead of centre back.
I think his physical presence is something we've missed the past few years and as much as I love broony for the job he's done I don't he should be starting every single game this season unless it's against rangers or in Europe where we need him most.
He's starting to lose that yard of pace and as a result he's playing it sideways and backwards which is slowing us down and losing efficiency going forward, ajer and mcgregor in there would compliment each other really well and I think brining another centre back in to partner jullien with the option of ajer playing midfield and able to fill in at the back would be a seriously wise move.
I'm not staying I would drop brown completely, a just think it's maybe time to experiment a bit and play him in certain games.

Our league isn't stronger than the conference. If you take away the old firm we are on a par with the Welsh and Irish leagues. Would you fancy Motherwell up against Basle who were third in switzerland last season?

In reality what's £5million getting you these days. Ok there's the odd bargain but there's a lot of rubbish at that price as well. If we have done our homework and the lads attitude matches the ability hopefully it'll work out.

exactly. that's what i was getting at fifer. the boy abet looks right decent imo. his movement is really good. good with both feet by the looks of it and looks very strong for not being the tallest.
