Anyone heard anything regarding Daniel Sturridge? Heard from a few people now, he is very high on Brendan's wish list.

Just no happening mate. We will get some decent signings, but its not going to be players on 3-4 times the wages of our highest paid players.

Never off treatment table and his wages would b an issue so no chance uless a loan which a wouldn't fancy.

Need to hire a full new medical team just for him.

He is cracking player on his day and another one Rodgers got the best out off. Don't think we could ever afford him, or would be willing to take the risk on him. I heard some mad stories from Liverpool fans about why he wasn't playing but don't know how true they were.

I agree Steph now I'm extremely curious 😅.

Steph didn't mean to build you hopes up as it is nothing juicy lol. There was a story doing the rounds (think it even made The Guardian - should be easy to find online) that Sturridge was refusing to play on religious grounds, instead of being permanently injured.

When I say religious grounds I don't mean the playing fields behind the Chapel. I think God was telling him that Liverpool were shite and he would be better off going praying for a league title on a Sunday than struggling for a 2-2 draw against Burnley!

It was most likely a pile of tom tit to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is utter cack. He had an ongoing injury problem which needed to be managed, then went away with England and Roy Hodgson had a chip on his shoulder, refused to take Liverpool's medical advice over him, made him do normal training and it damn near crippled him.}

I thought it sounded like a wind up Ed. Saying that, a few decades of the rosary would do Liverpool no harm! 😉.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they used to call Liverpool the capital of Ireland, half jokingly, because of the huge population of Irish Catholics, I don't think there is any lack of rosaries there! Me dad's ma has enough for half of England to be fair, but that's what you get when you are brought up as an orphan by nuns I suppose.}

Reports in the media that rodgers is to be handed a budget of 15m in the summer?

I'm not overly fussed how much we shell out in transfer fees as long as we spend wisely and ambitiously.

Agree0 Disagree4

{Ed007's Note - I never believe these type of stories, there's far too many factors involved to believe they are accurate, does the £15 million include agent fees and signing on fees? What about wages etc?

What is paid by the buying club would typically include:

(a) Transfer fee - the big number.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the EPL.
(c) Tax due on the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents.
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches(what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (sometimes waived).
(n) Variables and tax on variables which may or may not be reclaimable) – these would typically include legal fees, moving/relocation costs, etc....

Are all these costs coming out of the £15 million?}

12 Apr 2017 15:26:38
We could get 30 Dembeles for that, or a third of Andy Carrol. It's about finding the right player and being able to attract them instead of "we have x to spend". I would rather Celtic increased their wage budget and paid the 3 or 4 top players 35-40k a week instead of a splurge on transfer fees. They have always said they wouldn't break the wage structure but given the current strong finances they could afford to do it if the player has sell on value.

i'll settle for a playmaker, a centre half, an enforcer in midfield, a striker and a winger, i'm not asking for much lol.

Agree14 Disagree2

{Ed033's Note - An enforcer/striker; do you mean someone like Conor McGregor?

12 Apr 2017 17:59:49
there was a comma between them ed, so its 2 different players, a roy keane type alongside a lubo type, again im not asking for much haha.
