mcginn would never get in this team in the near future/ bench warmer and offer was matched but he still did not come
celtic man aye right?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

10 Aug 2018 23:14:15
why should he come to us? Villa made the proper bid first. They shown him more belief and respect in his ability.

Look as tesla and magicpole will tell you I wasn't to bothered by Mcginn not signing but why does him wanting to try his hand in England make some Celtic fans question him supporting Celtic.
At the end of the day football is his job and he has to look after himself using his head rather than his heart.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 00:58:15
Does DD think he will live forever?

Get some of your cash pumped into the team, we all would if we were in his position.

I read he moved for £23k a week.

Steve Bruce admitted Villa weren't in a position to bid for McGinn. When Celtic put in there first bid. Celtic plc blow it. Story is finished they have 3 week to sort it out.

ED. Can you start a poll on voting to ban all further posts on McGinn.

D D is too shrewd to make a public intervention, the chances are that if DD does step in, he will be telling B R to pack his bag .
D D doesn't like personal criticism and criticism of Board he takes personally.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

10 Aug 2018 23:15:06
D. D can bolt and play golf full time.

Agree5 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 23:17:44
DD should pack his own bags BR has done more for Celtic in 2 years than that man ever will.

Agree4 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 08:14:34
Stan it was that man, as you put it, that brought BR and Oneil in. So again your wide of the mark.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 08:55:02
In your opinion i am Kev, not so much to others. So DD being the largest shareholder decides who our Manager is? The rest of the Board have no day? nonsense, what gives him that right? Anywho i couldn't care less about DD i won't die remembering anything he has done for Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 09:01:29
He got BR and O'Neill yet the rest, Lenny, Mowbray, Strachan, Deila he's no taking any credit for? Did he leave that decision making to the Board? Aye right. More flaws than Braveheart.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 23:46:35
Looking at BR signings I think the board have decided that he ain't very gd a talent spotting.
The 3 French bhoys were club signings.
MD had been worked on before BR came.
ON has man city connections and eddy has all the hall marks of a club prospect signing.

Players we know are BR signings kouassi, commper, Hayes, Hendry. sinclaire
All not setting the heather on fire. BR has coached RD players which are mostly club signings to great success.

Maybe that's why the policy has changed.
I have been on here complaining about our transfers for a while and it's took until possible CL elimination for everyone to get on board. there seems to be a different opinion from some posters now.

Some of us have been slaughtered on here.
It's complacency by the board and the fans.
Rangers are building a decent squad and we have took our eye off the ball.

Heard that Rangers are building a decent squad argument every season since they arrived in this league.
Before that people on here were howling that Aberdeen were going to win the league against Ronny.

Even the most aggressive defenders of the board surely can't deny it now.

2 years we needed centre backs, forget McGinn.

We needed defenders for 2 years, all the usual excuses.

1. Signing a defender won't help us beat PSG (so we should forget trying to improve altogether?
2. We don't want to spend a penny in case we go bust like rangers (they died due to tax dodging not by spending money they had)
3. We simply can't afford to (Another lie, many teams earning similar or less to us manage to get realistic targets in

the reality - as long as we beat rangers people are happy. Rangers are just another hearts or hibs now and should not be our set standard.

it is obvious we are terrible at the back. It's needed fixed for 2 years.

The board refuse to pay, 2 years to find the right target lol, 2 bloody years. and it's simply gambling with out CL qualification.

Rodgers recent interviews have shown the board have taken it too far.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2018 23:14:40
Rodgers interviews may have told some home truths but he shouldn't have been seen to criticise club in public . He is showing his own weakness in not been able to convince board to back him .
D D doesn't suffer fools lightly and will take PL and board's side instead of any manager
Bar knows that too.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 05:42:49
We do need defenders still even after signing 2cb in January that I believe where Rodgers targets. 1 of which has played once. Imo our squad is too big and needs trimmed
A pool of 20 1st team backed with youth would allow overall salary outlay to be condensed into a smaller group and maybe raise the salary we can offer.

Bit of an odd one for me, this. I suppose, when we have KT, we need somebody willing to spend 95% of the season on the bench. Just makes me wonder why he ever left.

10 Aug 2018 16:29:10
Always liked Izzy but this is a strange one. Fair play though he has just got himself a free season ticket with a weekly wage.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 17:17:38
To be honest I think its a backward step, fair enough to bring him in as cover for KT but I would have rather seem one of the young boys given a chance.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 18:17:38
Could it be that the player we wanted for cover (KT) was.

1) Too expensive ( transfer)
2) Wages
3) Did not want to come?

or were we actually looking for cover in the 1st place?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 18:32:15
Absolute nonsense this negativity, yes kt is number 1 lb but who else do you think would settle for a back up role and not get much game time. We know what we’ll get with this guy and 100% knows us inside out. Get a grip he was our number 1 left back up until his injury and from where I’m standing everyone was happy with Emilio up until then.

10 Aug 2018 18:47:26
Yeh let's keep splashing out on people to sit on the bench. What next get Commons back.

Totally agree Craig N ticks all the boxes for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 20:54:48
So what you are saying Stan is we should have no cover for any of the first 11?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 21:13:09
I think bringing emelio back is just a bit of looking after him after giving us so many years service. His missus never settled in middle east and he has come back knowing he isn't going to get much game time. I would rather he played left back than johnny hayes, he needs to make in impact in his own role.

No one said we shouldn't have cover but with BR looking like he favours a back 3 in the SPL, do we not use C Miller who Rogers sees as a LB or is there no other player in the development squad who can step in on occasion and is happy to sit on the bench for most of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 21:28:22
Johnbhoy that is a nice idea but I just can't see that being true.
No way is lawell paying a wages just to look after a player that has already left and I don't think that Rogers would stand for that either.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 21:34:20
Looks like he favours a back 3. He's played that about half a dozen times.
Miller isn't a left back we can all see that.
Teirney played around 60 games last season because the gaffer obviously didn't really trust anyone to play it.
If there was some one able to play it in the development squad well enough they'd be in the first team squad
Fact of the matter is we had one LB in our squad last year so the position needed cover now we have it and fans still not happy.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 22:47:37

Izzy wanted away last season as he was afraid of agents who were threatening him over money . Hopefully he now feels the threat is over.

11 Aug 2018 00:43:59
Never heard so much bull S! In my life the guy is a class act always has been always will be. Any other team in the SPL would love him as their left back.

Yes he is here to support and cover for KT our number 1 left back and quite rightly so but Emilio is solid cover and will do us more than proud when called on.

Again welcome back Emilio 🍀💚.

Apparently we are signing Petar Stojanovic in the next week.
Slovenian RB from Dinamo Zagreb.

Pedro Chirivella name has cropped up again today, quite like the look of this boy.

If we where to bring in those two and a CB would make things look abit better.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

10 Aug 2018 09:48:11
If they're better than what we've got and not signings like Pukki, Fortune, Balde, Hooiveld, Compper, Benyu, Kouassi, Janko, Scepovic, Ciftci and many more who were brought in to appease the "we need new signings" brigade.

10 Aug 2018 11:15:16
Just hoping we can get a CB in before Tuesday otherwise can see Emelio playing LB and KT moving in to CB.

Stojanovic is a quality player and is really a steal. Ran us ragged when he played for Maribor.

10 Aug 2018 11:47:13
Where's the story coming from is it genuine or more smoke and mirrors.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 12:23:33
The gaffer has said on more than one occasion that he doesn't think we need to bring in a CB unless one leaves.

10 Aug 2018 12:45:05
Balde A poor signing, you havin a giraffe far better than many who went before and after. Caldwell, Rafael SH., Pressley to name but a few. There are.

Stojanovic? Where has this came from? Zagreb have one foot in the play off round I doubt they’ll be selling him any time soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 19:34:40
Sell Gamboa, Compper, Bitton. Replace with new RB, CB, CM and RW. Wishful thinking but as it stands with transfers we've spent about £1m. £9m on Edouard and sold Sviatchenko for £1m and Armstrong for £7m. Surely there's plenty of cash for quality signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 22:08:52
We got about £8m for VVD Aswell. Let’s not forget about that. We’ve got plenty cash for transfers. It’s just not being spent. If the window ends and we’ve brought in 2 players. I’ll be dissapointed. Before anyone frets about breaking our transfer record. So what? It was worth it. But there are other areas of the team that blatantly need work. Right Back is weak as it’s been for a long time. A few CBs need to be moved on and bring others improved on. We need another Right Winger. We need another CAM as we can’t break teams down well enough and to be honest the left wing spot is quite weak Aswell. These are my opinions on what is needed. In my eyes that is all blatantly obvious.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 07:37:28
Apparently Brendan Rodgers, gave a list of requirements in May to the board, that he felt would have helped Celtic go to another level. He asked for Edouard on a permanent deal ( done ) Rogic same thing ( done ) . Three new sigings where identified, Cristiano Piccini ( Right back ) £7 million. Fabian Schar ( centre back ) £3 million John Mcginn £2- £3 million ( was as Rodgers said to be a progressive signing. And supposedly all three players at one point indicated their willingness to come. But the board dithering on each occasion . Player sales would have covered a good part of the financial outlay ( Armstrong and Boyata as well if Schar came in ) .

Believable1 Unbelievable1

10 Aug 2018 09:27:13
If your info is genuine, first hand and accurate, I can see the sense in the post. On McGinn, did he not fancy the challenge of winning a place in the team as reported and gossiped? One fact we do know is we matched the offer, so he went to Villa for more money or a guaranteed start, hardly the action of a Celtic fan with a chance of wearing the shirt?

Schar i first heard of on here, never seen him linked officially but a good player with a solid WC behind him. Maybe he was approached but waited till after the WC for better options, and that's what he got.

Never heard of the other guy, so no comment.

What really needs to happen here is someone has to come clean. We have been sold on the idea we have a manager who can deliver what we want. Up until this transfer window he has done exactly that. If promises were made and renegade, tell us. If the reasoning is sound i would be sure we could accept it.

One more thing, to the people who still equate what we do with the team from Govan, stop it. What they spend who cares? The only way they affect us if the CB's they bought are decent, because if they are Congerton needs to answer some questions given we are looking for one. Y'know what he needs to answer some questions anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 09:42:46
Apparently?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 10:32:16
See all this nonsense about blaming McGinn, why should he have chosen us? just because he is a Celtic fan.

He was in Birmingham before we matched the bid, Aston Villa showed a more serious interest.

As a footballer you would respect that a lot more. I'd pick the team who wanted me the most.

Agree4 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 16:20:32
I agree tesla this Celtic fan nonsense is a lot of pish. He's got to think of himself first as would 99% of people would do. What was he supposed to do sit about and hope we came back in? He could be playing in the premiership next season maybe sooner if he does well for villa earning a lot more than he's on now.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 16:53:10
The story about McGinn mirrors the one with Jackie McNamara same board same story.

Nothing to do with not wanting to wear the shirt, John saw Lawwell messing about that much over money that he simply went where he felt wanted.
