vvd not in todays squad. he's definitely offski.

souljacker

1.) Looks like it to we'll have to put up with Ambrose for the rest of the season. :

2.) 31 Aug 2014 12:04:17
I should have put my mortgage on VVD not playing today.

onwards and upwards
HH

3.) I wouldn't worry as big Peter told us the strategy is to bring guys in cheaply make them run faster blah, blah, blah and sell them on for a profit. Just wait until next summer when we sell on. Oh I remember we haven't actually bought anyone yet! Absolute joke of a club.

4.) DesH, when I saw that in writing, a part of me died inside. I just hope we rob whoever it is blind and get the necessary replacement in. Doubt we will.

5.) Listening to ronny on radio before the match, it seems that big virgil is staying. nice one.

6.) RD saying that he will still be here, we shall soon see if its RD r PL that's running the show regarding players, if he goes could be embarrasing for RD

7.) I think what he actually said was that vvd was going nowhere tomorrow, so probably means he'll go today! ;)
HH

8.) Could of been dropped for the want away storys coming from his camp? Wishful thinking

9.) I think Liewell dropped him today in case he got injured, if he does go hopefully he takes the majority a that team way him

hearing that newcastle about to put a bid of £20,000,000 for wanyama and hooper. they're just waiting for sunderland to make a move for hooper then they are going to make the bid. good bit of p.r. apparently. not sure about this, though newcastle certainly need a striker and big vic would be an asset to any epl side. would be happy with £20,000,000 aswell - as much as we could expect in the current market.

souljacker

1.) A round number like that seems a wee bit unlikely. Also would probably expect some up front money, with some payment plan linked to number of performances. Doesn't feel too attractive even if legit.

2.) Why would they wait for sunderland?if they want both they will bid for them i'm sure

3.) 20 million for these two, never going to happen as much as big vic is a great player, hooper is not worth over 6million. gazdcelt

4.) They are apparently waiting for sunderland to make a bid so that they can come in with a better one. makes it look good for the fans - getting one over their tyneside rivals, and making it look like he chose newcastle over them. also prevents sunderland from landing one of their main targets.

5.) Come on this is BS there is no way Wanyama and Hooper will go for anything near 20 million I think 12 million if we are lucky and I would bite anybody's hand off for it remember Hooper has only 1 year left on his contract and Wanyama 2 and they play in the Spl which no one rates at all.

FranyyBhoy.

6.) So if we rejected a 5M bid for Hooper last week, your saying Wanyama is only worth 7M Frannybhoy? Be serious mate. Celtic need to start doing what clubs in Portugal and Holland have been doing for years. Name a price and stick to it. 20M is the minimum we should expect for these 2.
cw-88

7.) 19 Jun 2013 17:39:49
Yesterday, someone said a large bid for wanyama was outrageous and a joke. Today a fee of ten mill talked about. I think that's the minimum we should accept for vic.

Today, someone suggests both could be off, for a hefty good fee, and now this is also dismissed as impossible.

What's wrong with people that they have to come out and claim BS every time someone posts anything.

My opinion is vic is easily on the 12mil bracket, hooper 6mil (on account of having only one year left)

In an ideal world they'd both sign new deals with a buyout of 10mil each. That means these boys get paid what they deserve and celtic get a guaranteed price.

King Erse

8.) Franny they play in the champions league which everyone rates I think somewhere in the region of 14-15 mil would be a fair and realistic price for both players which I would bite the hand off for regardless of the lenth of contract these guys may start a bidding war between epl clubs and as we all know most have money to burn big vic could very well be worth double in two to three years alone if he opts for the right club with champions league exsposure and playing at the right end of the table celtic should be looking to sell (if they sell) to one of theese clubs with hefty add ons and sell on percentages
thommyj HH

9.) I think this post is bullsh*t like any other post that starts with something like "waiting for Sunderland to bid" sounds like a primary 2 transfer market lol and lucky if we get 12m for wanyama and hooper lmao if big vic leaves us for under 15m il be fuming! The bhoys a star and is only going to get better

SOS BHOY

10.) I don't think anyone is saying they are not good players. Anyone can see they are. I still maintain they will not be sold for a figure anywhere near £20m.
If I were a betting man, which I'm not, I'd say the joint price will be no more than £10m or something in that region. I'm not talking about possible sell on clauses or performance bonuses because they are not guaranteed and can sometimes be totally unrealistic, I'm talking actual selling prices. Remember, Hooper has just 1 year to go on his contract and Vic has 2 years and some people are talking silly figures here. But as always, reality will strike and if they go then a lot of you are going to be very disappointed as a result of your disillusionment.
The ideal scenario would be that we tie them both to long term deals, they stay for the foreseeable future and this discussion become irrelevant!

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

11.) Newcastle, who in recent years have got most of their signings for relatively low prices from the French league, are going to spend £20m on two SPL? especially considering what Pardew has previously said about the SPL? Pardew is a person and we should avoid selling to any team he may manage.

12.) Newcastle are about to sell Yohan Cabaye to Monaco for 23M. Are you telling me that if Alan Pardew had the option of Hooper and Wanyama with cash to spare or Cabaye he would say no they are from the SPL so we are no paying that? If they were smart they will realise that the England strikers are p**h at the moment and Hooper could, if he become an International become a 20M player himself (EPL inflated mind you) and Wanyama's potential value speaks for itself. If these players were playing in any other league in Europe no one would blink an eye at these prices.
cw-88 {Ed007's Note - Newcastles' transfers are nothing to do with Pardew.}

got an e-mail from a mate in dublin saying he was talking to neil lennon last night, and apparently kevin doyle is a cert. he said that lenny said that doyle is "a far better player than a lot of people think". don't know how believable this is ( my mate tends to talk bullocks now and again ) but I do know lenny is in dublin. and he does like doyle. wouldn't be suprised.

souljacker

1.) Hope its bullocks mate cause Kevin Doyle is

A great club with great Catholic traditons like our club, and like our club draw the core of their support from the Irish community two clubs with great shared values.

sneaky suspicion patrick roberts might be fit for tonight. hoping eric partners big kolo in centre defence and rogic plays as a no.10. looking for a good few goals tonight as i don't think it'll be easy scoring over in israel.

just had an idea - remember how amazing beachball sunday was all those years ago? this time, instead of dressing up for the beach, why don't we all dress up as zombies and do a 'walking dead' style zombie walk up to hampden? it would be fecking hilarious!

souljacker

1.) Just read an article by the excellent James Forrest regarding this game. In it he makes the point that we should make this game about us, not the daywalkers claiming it is an old firm game.

With that in mind I would hope we don't sink to the level which no doubt will be plumbed by sevconians. No rebel songs, just CELTIC songs. No mention of them being dead, we all know they are.Lets give them enough rope to hang themselves.

Beach ball Sunday was one of the most memorable experiences of my Celtic supporting life.It showed that we have the humour and attitude to leave this baggage behind us. let's get right behind the team, loudly and colourfully. This is the FIRST time we have played this particular team, let's show them how the big Bhoys do it.

2.) You make a good point GJ I just hope your right. I feel though that there is always a small element that will let us down.
Whilst we talking about the new club, I feel its just a matter of time before they get their act together and mount a challenge albeit maybe 1, 2, or 3 yrs down the line. The question is not about them though its more about us. If and when it comes are we in a position to defend as we seem to be struggling to pay out a few hundred thousand at the moment. Or are the board purposely not spending just now in case they need to at a later date.

3.) I think Newco are heading down the same road as Oldco and although the 'powers-that-be' and secret societies will attempt to avert another administration, there is absolutely no way they could survive unassisted for the rest of the season, never mind another year in the Championship.
They are haemorrhaging cash and Ashley's dodgy involvement is causing mayhem.

{Ed007's Note - There's nothing dodgy about Ashley's involvement.}

4.) Agree with ED, there is nothing dodgy about Ashley's investment, this is all about sale and leaseback. Iwould not be in the least bit surprised if Ashley is part of the Bluepitch or Marguarita group.

Dont forget Chuckles, got to love him!, had no money to buy the assets.Seems to me he made promises to various parties re them getting stuck into the ibrokes pie, and tey certainly have done that!

@rayman; They don't really bother me mate, they are years behind us even though we blew a chance to move into a different orbit. They have a stadium that is decaying badly on a daily basis and a load of players out of contract at the season end. Conservative guess. they must need in the region of 40-50M. And don't forget those wonderful onerous contracts!

5.) Fair point GJ, but I think we would be pretty naïve to think it will never come.

6.) Ashley is a businessman first and foremost. He sees an opporchancity to make cash. Not doing anything illegal or wrong. One thing for sure, he won't hesitate to sell the stadium or any other asset to get a return on his cash. They won't be the first big business to finally sink and will be hardline news until the next f#ckwit blows himself up

Mrs e, it was probably ambroses' worst game for us last night. lost the ball on numerous occassions, made bad decisions, every second pass was wayward. he was suspect at the first goal, god only knows how he couldn't clear the cross for the second and as for the red card? bad control in the middle of the park, but ambrose was a good few yards out of positon when legia broke. these few yards would have prevented the red card. I thought for the first 20 minutes or so we looked not too bad, it was a bit end to end, but I thought we'd take control. ambrose was imo, the reason we were beaten so heavily.

Cheers ed. if lawell had any ambition this would be the signing to end all signings. offer him 30k a week and let him keep his image rights. he'd make a packet. also 34 ain't that old. think of giggs, totti, pirlo etc. let ronny (or rabbit-monkeyman - as my ten year old called him when I made her watch the youtube clip) have his nights oot at the suave sav, as long as he produces on the pitch, the stadium would be packed to the rafters. imagine a champions league swansong for the great man? remember zidane almost single handedly won france the world cup 8 eight years ago, and he was 35 at the time.

Just watched the youtube clip. guy was sheer natural genius. he seemed to play on instinct, and as for his free kicks? wow. would be worth signing him for his set pieces alone! ed, what do you think he'd be looking for wages wise?

souljacker

{Ed007's Note - Believe it or not but his current wages at Mineiro are circa £24/25k a week although there is the potential to earn a further circa £250,000 p.a. in bonuses. Whether he would be happy with that back in Europe or be looking for more I don't know.
Before moving to Mineiro, Ronaldinho was on circa £100k a week at Flamengo but that deal was terminated by a judge after the player sued the club for £13m in unpaid wages and bonuses. Flamengo admitted having difficulties paying for Ronaldinho's salary after ending their partnership with sports marketing company Traffic, which had paid most of his wages. At Mineiro his wages are paid solely by the club which is a rarity in Brazil for the more popular, and expensive, players.}
