Bradley Dack from Gillingham is that someone who we are going for. Never really heard of him.

lawman45

1.) 10 Jul 2016 10:35:47
No another no 10 got enough of them.

2.) 10 Jul 2016 11:51:45
I may be wrong, but can he not play on the wing as well?

3.) 10 Jul 2016 12:22:49
Doesn't matter where he plays this would be an awful signing.

4.) 10 Jul 2016 15:16:59
Fair enough Jim I know nothing about him at all, but a lot of folk have been waxing lyrical saying he's dynamite and is the next best thing since Deli Alli.

5.) 10 Jul 2016 17:34:00
Can't say I know a great deal either really bud apart from him popping up on the football league show and goals on sunday etc. He can't be better than what we've got. McGregor had a season just as good as his down in League One. We've all being banging on about quantity over quality, making signings that will take us to CL level and we're supposedly chasing players from Gillingham. I refuse to believe it.

07 Jul 2015 16:25:37
Rumours spreading that we have won the race to sign Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid. If this does transpire I can only think it will be good for Celtic. My reasoning is that if he is as good as Real think he is and we give him game time where he returns to Real a mature and improved player then the posibilities of tapping in to Real for other players in the future improves. Let's hope we do get him and he is successful with us.

lawman45

1.) 07 Jul 2015 17:38:05
I have no doubts he'll bring some excitement for us fans. The kid has tekkers. But I just feel somewhat underwhelmed given he's one of the hottest talents on the planet. Because we'll not be keeping him. And unless he plays a big part in carrying us into and through the CL groups do Celtic really benefit? Can only pray he falls in love with the place, gets himself a Scottish lass or something and runs down his contract with Los Blancos and signs for us! But aye, even if just for a season it'll be great to watch a player of his skill and guile in the Hoops.

Seems strange that the report says despite, as thought, Real wanted to loan him in Spain, that it is the player who has convinced Real to loan him to Celtic.

2.) 07 Jul 2015 18:25:21
Obviously there is a lot of hype around him but I can't say I've seen a lot of him, but if he comes who would drop out of the side . I'm presuming he's a no 10, so that would mean less game time for commons , gms or Armstrong dependant on Ronnies formation . As he won't be our player , what will we gain out of the deal unless he is a top drawer player . Obvious Ronny knows him well and has been after him at various times but he must offer something completely different from what we already have .

3.) 07 Jul 2015 21:50:17
Was reading Jack Harper might not be renewing his contract with Real, I don't know anything about the lad does anyone know if he's a player worth trying to get in.

4.) 07 Jul 2015 21:59:56
Martin Odegaard: this guy has a clause in his contract to say he must play & train in the first team @ Real.
He looks a real talent, however, who do we drop to fit him in?
will there be a min number of games we must play him?

5.) 08 Jul 2015 07:42:00
Stan, can't say i've seen him bud but have read rave reviews about him and admit it has crossed my mind that one day he might be worth a look! No idea if he's a 'tic fan fan and it may be a bit naive but if there's a young player who has spent time wih Real, and could be available for just compenation etc. then he's at least worth a trial in my opinion.

6.) 08 Jul 2015 07:57:47
I agree cprs if he comes one of our players won't get a chance can't stop thinking it won't be good for moral

05 Jul 2015 20:12:59
Apparently we have had a million pound bid rejected for McGeady. Disappointed if this is true. He has had his time with Celtic and both he and the club have moved on. No thanks.

lawman45

1.) 06 Jul 2015 12:25:31
Absolute rubbish why are people posting this. The last thing we need is a winger.We just bought Mckay Steven as far as my opinion on Mcgeady wouldn't even give Greek Euros for a winger that can't cross his legs nevermind a ball

2.) 06 Jul 2015 18:07:16
Have to say I was hoping for an attacking wide man, ideally a goalscoring wing forward. I think Johansen, Commons, Armstrong and Rogic are more suited down the middle. That only really leaves us with GMS, Forrest and Stokes. The latter two I think we need to be looking for better and Boerrigter looks done. I'm all up for a playing style where the front four might not have strict positions but fill in the gaps (just search clairefontaine in the page search I remember Ed giving a good lecture). Perhaps that's what we'll go but I would still like to see a more naturally suited wide man.

30 Jun 2015 09:10:03
Apparently we have had 900k bid for Nadir Ciftci knocked back by Dundee Utd. I don't know if this is the sort of player we need. There is no doubt he can score goals but his temperament and the baggage he brings does not sit well with me.

lawman45

1.) 30 Jun 2015 10:10:21
I'm not sure either mate.

The players i'd like us to go for and who we do go for are two different things these days. Granted we've found some rough diamonds.

That said and only commenting on the player in our sights, I quite rate him. He's the striker in Scotland i'd prefer the most. If that counts for anything. He's the perfect 'type' to play that lone striker. Can run and shield the ball and really work a defense by himself. Got that bit muscle and poacher instinct in the box too. Plus I think the three behind him would really benefit from his game play.

Costing us by doing something stupid is a big worry, and whether he can make the step up to CL level remains to be seen. So those two factors just put a bit doubt in my mind.

2.) 30 Jun 2015 10:57:51
There is no doubt Ciftci can play a bit , but his temperament and attitude are not what I want to see in a Celtic player , he would do well enough in domestic football , but I'm not so sure at European level , I'd much prefer us to persue the bid for Jelle Vossen , we are fast becoming Dundee Utd lol .

3.) 30 Jun 2015 11:12:22
I'm not over the moon about this either! I was really hoping for us to sign someone better!

4.) 30 Jun 2015 11:40:49
Thought we were only gone sign players that only make us better??

5.) 30 Jun 2015 15:12:58
No what big Pete meant was the cheap option and if he makes us better that's a bonus. I just wish we would go and sign a proven striker.

6.) 30 Jun 2015 17:36:40
Would not like this boys from Dundee utd but mabye it's better the devil you know considering the shocking strikers we have bought in over the last few seasons, is there not a young striker in the development squad wee could bleed through behind griffiths

7.) 30 Jun 2015 18:53:59
Guys give the guy a break, we have had the likes of Pukki/Balde etc and all the talk when we signed them was they look good. If Cifti was coming from Europe we would all be on youtube saying this guy got something about him. because he from Utd its this guy not good enough. Well LG has stepped up and so could Cifti. I also think Scepovic could step up this season also if given the chance.There has been many many old frim players down the years who struggled their 1st year.

8.) 30 Jun 2015 20:24:30
Anyone else getting a sense of deja vu,the way some people are talking about Cifci is very similar to the way they were talking about Griffiths last year.

9.) 30 Jun 2015 20:40:44
I agree with you lawman
Looks like we are trying to go for the safe option but in RD I trust

10.) 30 Jun 2015 22:26:17
Hi Rayman, A usually agree with you more often than not but not this time Bud!

Cifti is up in three weeks for this biting charge and although a don't have a crystal ball he is going to get a 5 or a 6 game ban IMO A mean BITING FFS! a don't know about you but as was repulsed at the Suarez incident and we don't need the grief!

So disappointed in this even approach in so many fronts if am honest must have a better option than him surely even WITH how poor our record up front is :-(

11.) 01 Jul 2015 00:20:44
@Jamie I not saying he anything special but we tend to go on about players because they from Europe. I know he Turkish but he getting it because he playing here. Mate the biting thing I have never seen simply because I had no interest in it. But surely he innocent to proven otherwise. Incidently I would take Suarez in a minute lol.

12.) 01 Jul 2015 14:56:40
Hi Rayman mate, He did it mate (bite) the Dundee's players Mrs was mad about it in the papers because he gave him a better "lovebite" (pmsl) than she ever could (y)

28 Jun 2015 17:33:40
Looks like Balde is signing for Metz to on a two year deal. Shame it never worked out. The clear out is gathering pace.

lawman45

1.) 28 Jun 2015 18:52:07
Anybody heard a fee? Doesn't look like we'll be getting much in anyway but am just wondering.

2.) 28 Jun 2015 19:03:59
I think his contract was terminated.

{Ed007's Note - 'Mutually' terminated = paid off and hunted.}

3.) 28 Jun 2015 20:32:42
I just read saying McGeough is a possibility when he's just extended his contract? Any news on Fridjonsson Ed? And anyone in for Boerrigter?

{Ed007's Note - Fridjonsson will be going out on loan, probably back to Brondby, or permanently, nothing's been decided but he won't be here next season. I've not heard of any interest in Boerrigter, I think that unless he is freed he'll need to prove his fitness before anyone would consider signing him.}

4.) 29 Jun 2015 00:37:54
2m wasted rather than paying a bit more for better quality! And that's the loss for just him we coulda bought somebody like a franchise signing with this all this wasted money! But it's constant cheapness and in the long run is bad business with our attempts to sign a striker!

5.) 29 Jun 2015 09:35:37
What you wanted to bring in McDonald's or KFC. I've always found the food court at the ground to be top notch. 🙊🙊

I know it was only Sudova but there was a lot of pressure on them tonight and they passed with flying colours. Credit where credit due especially to young Johnston who I thought was terrific. Christie also brought a lot of energy when he came on. Well done all and onto Sunday.

11 Aug 2018 14:51:32
There's not much to be said about that performance today but I think it does show us and hopefully the deal makers at Celtic who is up for the job and who is surplus to requirements. The list is long unfortunately in my opinion.

lawman45

1.) 11 Aug 2018 15:10:25
Couldn’t agree more lawman. We have too many fringe players that just aren’t up to the task, Hayes ( granted had a big injury last season but when plays just doesn’t look like the guy that played for Aberdeen. Allan, why he’s still at Celtic god only knows, Christie comes back from Aberdeen and struggles to make the squad, kouassi been here 2 years now and shows nothing when he does get a cameo appearance, the list of dead wood we have is ridiculous and it’s never more evident than when we make 4/ 5 changes in the line up and that could be against any opposition, and as for comper, does anyone know what this guy looks like or even if he’s still in the country? What a waste of money that guys been.

2.) 11 Aug 2018 15:25:13
Hayes was great at a club with no expectations almost forgot we had him.

3.) 11 Aug 2018 16:34:50
Maybe Allan would have made a better contribution today, than some of those playing, he keeps getting condemned on here, but hasn't had a chance to show what he can do in a competitive game, so far this season, after playing well for Hibs last year.

25 Jul 2018 21:26:36
If Celtic can keep this level of football throughout the season I can't see anyone touching us. Treble treble anyone 😎😎.

19 Jul 2018 10:53:42
I've read a number of Celtic related blogs online with the majority of them having the same view. That we are going into the Rosenborg game weaker than when we faced them last year. Personally I think we are still on to beat them but I do agree that we fail miserably every year to get the players in before these games come around. I know there are a lot of factors that make it difficult but if we are wanting to make it easier for ourselves to progress those deals need to be done earlier. Thoughts anyone?

lawman45

{Ed007's Note - We didn't have recognised striker on the pitch and Bitton was our sub CB for last season's home leg so I can't understand how anyone can justify saying we're weaker this year.
Bain replacing de Vries on the bench, Ajer, Tierney are another year older, wiser, stronger and more experienced, Ntcham's settled in brilliantly into the team, McGregor and Forrest are playing the best football of their career and we have Dembele and Edouard up front, add into that mix Brown's intensity and experience and we now have Hendry to cover at CB and RB.
The squad is a lot stronger than last year's and we will progress from the tie.
Any excuse to moan about the lack of signings, Peter Lawwell or the board, and it must be a slow Sevcoing day in the blogging world if they're talking about Celtic for a change.}

1.) 19 Jul 2018 11:40:26
Exactly ed we are way stronger hopefully the mousse ok for wed but don't think Rosenberg are any better going with there results against valur.

{Ed007's Note - I know a couple of Norwegian lads - one of them a Rosenborg supporter - and both of them said when the draw was made that Rosenborg have no chance of beating us. I'll settle for a 2-0 win then go over there and hit them on the break.
And as you say, they got past Valur by the skin of their teeth.}

2.) 19 Jul 2018 11:45:54
Think it's nonsense to say we are weaker, this year.

{Ed007's Note - We started with Rogic as our striker against them because Dembele was injured and LG was banned, even if Moussa doesn't make the first leg we've just signed a striker for £9 million that's more than capable of scoring for us. We had Bitton, Hayes and Benyu on our bench last year as well.}

3.) 19 Jul 2018 11:56:45
ED007 I agree with your point about us being stronger than last year and we should have enough about us to see off Rosenburg, but I worry about our failure year in, year out to address our problems at the back and Brendan must take his share of the blame for this.
He cannot factor in the stupidity of Simonovic (not the first time he has done this) surely he must now be shown the door.
But Brendan knew Lustig, Boyata etc would be missing for early qualifying rounds so surely another defender would have been a priority. He has been unlucky too with injuries to Biton and Commper who could have covered, but it is his responsibility to identify players he wants and push for them to be brought in quickly, everything is a long drawn out process with us, ala McGinn's transfer sage.
We may have to bring back Boyata or Lustig sooner than anticipated or have faith in a young back four of Ralston, Hendry, Ajer and Tierney.
As you can tell I am not a fan of Simonovic but Boyata can be a bombscare at times also with his lack of concentration.
Hopefully we score 2 or 3 at Celtic Park next week and our attack gets us out of a tight spot.

{Ed007's Note - And where will all these defenders we have and the new ones you want play when everyone's back from holiday and fit?}

4.) 19 Jul 2018 12:14:11
Ed just plagiarized your 1st comment for an argument on Facebook. 😂.

{Ed007's Note - That's @%$*ing it - the paywall starts on Monday!! It'll cost you £5 a month for 150 months before people will able to read your humble correspondent's stunning and forensic output.}

5.) 19 Jul 2018 12:37:07
To answer that question to my mind anyway is simple, we have a further 6 games (hopefully) in CL, if not then we play Europa qualifiers, we will need to rotate our squad. I would imagine 1 or 2 defenders will also either be moved on (Simonovic) or loaned out (Ralston? ) Commper looks like he is an injury prone player so we cannot depend on him.
Lustig, Boyata and Bitton will all return to bolster young Ajer and Hendry, with Tierney so one more ready to go defender should be brought in.
Whether we are in CL or Europa we will need a big squad, we have that in midfield and now up front but we still need cover at the back.

{Ed007's Note - You make it all sound so simple but until players are moved on we'd have an abundance of CBs in the squad Ajer, Boyata, Hendry, Simunovic, Compper and we can throw in Bitton and Lustig who can cover there as well, these players are all on our books and more importantly our payroll. You can't just stockpile players.
And what if the players don't want to move, what if we went out and bought a new CB and Boyata comes back and wants to talk a new contract? That would be 8 players who can play CB all fighting for 2 starting positions.
If Rodgers put us in that position then people might have a right to moan.
Even with Boyata, Lustig and now Jozo missing if we can't put a team out capable of beating Rosenborg we don't deserve to be in the CL.}

6.) 19 Jul 2018 13:09:31
Writing in from Bergen, NO and the lads here aren't even contemplating Rosenberg getting through. The consensus seems to be that it would be hugely embarrassing if we don't skelp em.

7.) 19 Jul 2018 14:28:32
Was saying that to my mate last night at the game. As frustrating as it is that 4th place in England and Italy etc gets automatic CL football, if any of those teams did have to play these qualifiers 9 times out of 10 they would breeze right through them.

If we’re not good enough to get through these qualifiers then we’re not going to fare very well in the group stages!

8.) 19 Jul 2018 19:57:15
I kinda get your point Andy, but if we don’t get through the qualifiers we won’t be in the group at all.

You'll probably find that the reason he's gone there will be both clubs are owned by the same group. It will be for a shuffling of finances probs to satisfy financial fair play in Man City's respect. Nothing to do with player development.

We didn't have to score last night that was up to Rosenborg and they couldn't so job done. We were totally set up last night to get that result and the players carried out their jobs fantastically. How often have we gone abroad and played in an exciting and cavalier style but lost. I have total faith in Rodgers and the board. Signings will come.

Definitely hand ball for the first but the Aberdeen player stopped playing and Motherwell took advantage. The second one I think the Motherwell player just used his strength and the Aberdeen centre back was too weak. Shocking game of football though. Route one football with the ball spending the majority of time in the air.
