Dont know if anyone else has noticed this but we have 6 league games till the Glasgow derby clash and they have 5 so if results go our way we could be 8 points clear gong into the winter break although they will have a game in hand just saying.

We have 5 league games including the Glasgow Derby!, they have 4 including the Glasgow derby. unless I’m missing something? .

We could be 8 clear, we could also be 4 clear or 5 clear, or 12 clear ect.

Quote from The Scotsman this morning from Peter Lawell "Lawwell does not believe the Celtic squad needs a major rebuild this summer" looks like the bad old days of the biscuit tin are coming back.

Lennon is just a puppet with Peter Lawwell's hand shoved up his arse.

2.) 27 May 2019 10:11:34
Imo we need at least one new cb a rb a lb and another midfielder we have eddy griff and bayo we have plenty of wingers and we would need another keeper unless he promotes a young one tgats about 4 or 5 players needed.

3.) 27 May 2019 10:15:33
The Scotsman is miss quoting what lawwell Said.

4.) 27 May 2019 10:20:50
Definitely Kev, lawwell and co aren’t stupid as to know the squad needs big investment, they also know the support are divided over Lennons appointment so they will back him I’m sure.

Not inspiring choice but it what we've been given.

Squad wise there'll be plenty leaving, players we need imo.
CB (take benko back)
RB
ACM (competition for tam who's been rotten)
R/ LW (Roberts? Need to replace weah burke)
2 CFs (I'm not waiting for griff, he needs to win a place in the team n I think bayo can be filed under balde, bangura, scepovic, etc) . Eddie first choice but needs help, griff n bayo a gamble imo.

No more p! sh league projects, get in quality if we want to be successful. Just made 9mill on brendan, I expect double that to be spent in the summer.

Is VAR planned to be run out in Scotland any time in the future if so will this not cause some referees problems as there will be no leeway for the 'honest mistake' in giving penalties or not as the case may be.

garngad1957

{Ed007's Note - No because it would be the same people, refs etc, running the VAR, it just means the ref can blame VAR for any discrepancies and the VAR team just use their new found authority to back up their opinions.
The ref won't need to make the honest mistakes if VAR can do it easier.}

Ed I totally get your point about cheats will be cheats. But surely using video puts more pressure on officials to make the right call? We all accept that without VAR refs do genuinely have a tough call to make. At times we think they use that as an excuse too. But when the ref is looking at the same replays we see after a game or at home, surely it's going to do more good than bad. Or am I missing something?

{Ed007's Note - You watch any live game and pundits, ex-players and ex refs all talk about decisions the ref has made and what he got right and wrong, do they all agree? They can't even agree with VAR all the time! You can sit and watch a game with your pals, watch all the same replays as the VAR team would, do you and your pals agree all the time or is it usually a split with one or two differing in their opinion.
So the guys sitting doing VAR are only really giving their opinion or their interpretation on what they see on the monitors, as we have already seen in Germany any VAR team are open to letting their own personal prejudices cloud their judgement. At the end of the day whether it's the ref on the park or the VAR team, it's still humans making the decisions.
Imagine we're at Ibrox and it's 0-0, 92nd minute Dembele goes down in the box, to everyone watching at home and seeing numerous replays (except TRIFC fans) it's a clear penalty but it goes to VAR and after a couple of minutes VAR says it's not a pen, will Celtic fans then just shrug their shoulders and say it must have been the right decision because the amazing VAR said so? Would they ****!
So instead of blaming refs we'd get the moon units in our support banging on about how VAR is controlled by the Masons - I don't think they've twigged that it'll be the fabled Masonic refs that would be running VAR too.}

Fair comments Ed. I totally agree, and have said on another thread, it still comes down to interpretation. I guess I'm hoping though that the honest officials out there can only benefit from it, in that it can at least correct some wrong decisions. The flat earthers will always find something to blame I guess. Nice as ever though to hear your views though.

{Ed007's Note - Old Fairhill proverb: Too many seeds spoil the bag.}

3.) 30 Jun 2018 21:49:51
Jim Tim if only honest officials benefit from VAR then SFA are right not to waste their money on it, as we don't have honest referees.

{Ed007's Note - There use to be 2 umpires in football matches, then they became referees who were to be the sole judge of fair play during matches, After that they introduces linesmen to help the referee and recently they changed the name of linesmen to assistant referees and then added a fourth official. Their last ploy was appointing even more assistant referees (additional assistant referees or AARs as they're known) behind the goal line - now we've arrived at the point of even more refs sitting in a room making the judgements in games.
Are we just to ignore the rules of the game that state depending where you read on the wording:

Law 5: The decisions of the referee regarding facts connected with play, including whether or not a goal is scored and the result of the match, are final. The decisions of the referee, and all other match officials, must always be respected.

The referee may only change a decision on realising that it is incorrect or on the advice of another match official, provided play has not restarted or the referee has signalled the end of the first or second half (including extra time) and left the field of play or terminated the match.

To this in April:

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43791511

A penalty was awarded after players had already left the pitch for half-time in Mainz's Bundesliga win over relegation rivals Freiburg on Monday.

Referee Guido Winkmann called both sides back from the dressing room after consulting the video assistant referee (VAR) system and penalising Freiburg for handball.

It's going to be a farce. But with all the cameras covering every angle it was only a matter of time before it happened. Cameras have ruined sport and in many ways normality. We live in a big brother state and I'm genuinely scared for my kids future, my 12 yr old boy is wanting Facebook but I detest it cos it does more harm than good, so far I've managed to hold off but I fear it's a losing battle. Var is inevitable too.

5.) 01 Jul 2018 01:33:13
You're space cadet flight commander talking like that Chris. Having cheats in the game and the proposition of using video to aid refereeing are yes, linked; but are different cases for me. Not using VAR because you think there is an agenda solves nothing. Flushing out the cheats is what solves the problem of cheating.

Bit deep there Steph, but I'm with you on that sociopolitical note.
