seen on other site today that Stokes has been released, not sure if true and not really bothered if he leaves but would have thought we could have commanded some sort of transfer fee for him rather than letting him go on a free.

eddykane

1.) 14 Jul 2015 11:54:32
Can't see us just letting him go stokes is worth 1/ 1.5m!

2.) 14 Jul 2015 12:27:56
yeah I agree, maybe report is incorrect, saying that Leeds,Bolton,Wigan and an MLS club all showing interest so would have thought the first 3 especially would have funds available. just need to wait and see, hopefully we are freeing up some funds for another forward.

3.) 14 Jul 2015 12:45:40
It says he's free to leave, Not sure if that means transfer listed and he has to find a club or he's being released. Leeds are interested

4.) 14 Jul 2015 15:40:22
It will just mean he is not in our plans

5.) 14 Jul 2015 19:24:08
The local rag in Hull is reporting on their interest

6.) 14 Jul 2015 21:27:23
Hope he leaves as we need to get people off the books and we should get a modest fee as well. Really don't see him featuring much as he is way down the pecking order.

7.) 15 Jul 2015 13:45:53
He will end up at bolton

8.) 15 Jul 2015 14:13:23
Surprised Lennon isn't trying to hook hooper n stokes up they would scor for fun in the championship together!

9.) 16 Jul 2015 22:20:16
No they wouldn't and if you really think they would I'm not even going to waste my time telling you why .

10.) 19 Jul 2015 00:49:53
Have to disagree Fab,Stokes and Hooper had a good striking partnership,relationship,understanding,they gelled well together,what ever you want to call it,I'm not saying they would score for fun in the championship,but I'm not saying they would'nt,and it would'nt surprise me if they scored a barrowload,I think you are wrong to dismiss them so cheaply.

It's looking like game won't be on as it clashes with champ league. As far as I know

Not usually a conspiracy theorist but the revelation on tonight's news that bt sports have been paid to show sevco games is an effing disgrace. even worse that BBC news didn't even mention it. thought I might call the phone in on radio Clyde to register my disgust but funny enough that's finished for the season as well. good timing then. what did celtic know about this?:what about hoops fans who might have subscribed to this channel. as I've said its an absolute disgrace and a total cover up as far as I'm concerned. how can it benefit scottish football to pay broadcasters to show sevco v stenhousemuir.no offence meant to stenny fans.

eddykane

{Ed007's Note - Remember who went to London with Doncaster for talks about the TV deal. Did having the subsidised TV exposure help Sevco when they were negotiating sponsorship deals? It turns out Scottish football was actually subsidising a TV company to broadcast a match where the TV company were forced to apologise on air over the sectarian and racist songs being sung by Sevco fans in February 2013, how is that for the good of the game? As if Rangers/Sevco hadn't embarrassed the Scottish game enough with their cheating, financial skulduggery and subsequent liquidation.}

1.) Lawell really has to answer to our support now . He has to make a statement explaining what went on in London . Instead of SPL paying ESPN the £250,000 a year to show Sevco they could have cut their losses and shared the money round the clubs who were actually being televised . The halls of Hampden are really rotten to the core . DH

{Ed007's Note - Don't hold your breath.}

2.) Is there any way we can join up with other Celtic forums and ask Lawwell for an explanation . Celtic fans should at least deserve an explanation when The Rangers are getting unfair treatment which is to their advantage .

3.) Sooner lawell goes the better.

4.) Sooner Lawell goes the better?

Lawell helped get Scottish football a tv deal that was very unlikely in coming.

Now I have not seen or heard about this deal given to bt sports to play the sevco "shame game", as I live in OZ.

Sounds a bit to me like we will pay you x amount of cash to get the gullible loyal bears to sign up to your overpriced and under subscribed tv channel if you pay Scottish football an annual fee of x amount. Business dealings worldwide are full of little sweeteners or brown envelopes.

Lawell I think has done a marvellous job at Celtic and before everyone jumps down my throat he doesn't spend enough on the team. I have said before maybe they have no confidence in lennons decisions of who to spend the money on.

We need to be serious and realise although athletico can get players cheap; win la liga and champion league finalists they are playing in one of the best leagues in the world and their restrictions on work permits are far more lenient than ours allowing them to find cheap south American players. As well as Spanish players who are technically better than Scottish players.

{Ed007's Note - Come on FB, the TV deal was already in place and was then renegotiated. Nowhere else in the football world does a league pay the broadcasters for broadcasting matches, it defeats the whole purpose of having TV deals.
This is from companies that refused to pay for rights to broadcast the play-off matches between Hibs and Hamilton Accies, so the SPFL are allowing them to broadcast them for free.}

5.) My laptop keeps stalling, I disagree with you guys, I think, because of the size of their support, The rangers should be televised, therangers should be included, if you exclude them, itwill turn into paranoia, no one likes us we don't care, we arra peepul, all that kind of thing, at least this way the rest of the british/european viewing public can see/hear what rangers are really about, I never seen the news report about paying bt money, it does'nt sound right, methinks there is some creative reporting going on.

{Ed007's Note - If Sevco wanted to make sure their games were broadcast I'm sure their 500 million worldwide fans would have rather paid money to their new wee club to watch them broadcast on RancidTV. In their accounts up to 30th June 2013 Sevco received £778,000 from broadcasting rights, so the rest of Scottish football subsidised them getting over 3/4 of a million pounds for playing in what is basically an amateur league, add to that sponsorship would be higher because of TV exposure - and you think that's ok?
If there is some creative reporting going on I'm sure that Peter Lawwell and his SPFL friends will make a statement to put all our minds at rest and make public the 5 Way Agreement to prove the deal wasn't part of it.
This stinks to the heavens and like most things in Scottish football that stink Peter Lawwell is in it up to his neck.}

6.) The only way Lawwell is going to take notice is through complaints made to UEFA or serious protests outside Celtic Park. No point even suggesting withholding ST money cause our support won't do that. The man's played divide and conquer with our support to the point we're all squabbling amongst ourselves while he's laughing all the way to the Bank, it's time we start demanding answers!

7.) I think we all know Lawell is driven by money whether for Celtic or his own back pocket.

The only way PL will take any notice of us is if we hit Celtic FC where it hurts ie financially.

It's a shame really that Integrity and honesty has lost out to money.

Time for a huge shake up at our Club, time for honesty and integrity to replace Balance Sheet totals.

You'd wonder what Brother Walfraid makes of it all.

My one big fear is that we're sickened by what we know about, but what about what we don't know.

It's time for all Celtic fans to stand up and be counted.

8.) Celts for Change - Sack the Board, Back the Team!

9.) @frewbhoy there was ALWAYS going to be a TV deal. Lawell never saved the day, don't know where you got this from.

10.) I don't think Brother Walfrid would have any views on this deal. I don't know of any view Brother Walfrid had of the people . Did he ever speak about them?
However if Lawwell has had any role in giving the people a life line, then he would need to explain fully to the Celtic fans .

11.) Ed great job as always, a wee question as I have no idea. What are Celtics figs financially pre Lawwell to where we are now. Are we a more prudent club, do we spend more now or pre Lawwell. Difficult to assess I know due to recesson and the dead club but just wondered.

{Ed007's Note - We obviously spent a lot more pre-Lawwell with deals like the £6m fees for Sutton and Hartson and £5.75 for Lennon but credit where it's due, Lawwell has overseen increasing revenues and a reduction in debt. I'd say that right now CFC are in the best financial position they have been in years.}

12.) Thanks ed your a star, yet the man gets it in the neck no matter what. considerin what happened at the said dead club we are doing no bad lol.

If Janko is as good as Matthews then it is an ok deal but still think we are letting him go a bit cheap at £2 especially to an EPL team. no doubt there will be players of similar age and ability transferred for a lot higher fees down there. I know Coleman is better than Matthews but Everton are looking for about £30m. if MAtthews stays fit then Sunderland have got themselves a bargain. just like Crystal Palace did with Ledley

Personally I like a player who has a wee trick up his sleeve,don't see a problem having both GMS and McGeady on the park,a wee bit of flair that has been in short supply recently.

Well put Steve totally agree. I'm hoping he comes back,was one of my favourites before he left and I don't mind a player with a bit of attitude anyway,I've no worries about him fitting into any team system as he already proved in Russia he can adapt when required.

there is no doubt that McGeady still has the ability, I went to Dublin for the republic match and myself and all the other scotland fans were delighted when he was ruled out of the game with Injury, LM67 is right to highlight his goal against Georgia and would Martin O'Neil still be picking him if he was fat and lazy,he is one of the very few real talents that have come through our youth system and been successful. the league is shaping up to be as boring next year as it has been for the last few. might be a bit more exciting with McGeady and GMS on the pitch.

Commons reaction was probably regrettable but to be honest I can probably sympathise with it. he was one of our best players before RD arrived then was totally ignored until things started unravelling for a totally inept manager. not sure if he still has a future at the club but I For one would like to. remember him for the player and the goals he scored. seems to have a bad reputation among some fans for being a disruptive influence but that seems to be mainly unfounded allegations and in sure if they were true he would have been ejected long ago. when will we see another 32 goal midfielder in the hoops?

Swan. I happen to agree with you about Lukaku, think he is a cracking player but as you say he gets pelters for been lazy which you say McGeady is as well, I don't think any of the 2 of them are, think Lazy players are a thing of the past the way the game is played now. 95% of Everton fans might not like McGeady as he hasn't really produced for you but that doesn't make him a bad player, maybe style / manager did not suit him, he has been excellent for Celtic/Spartak and Republic and i'm sure he can reproduce that again. I know a few Everton fans through work and although they will be happy enough for him to go they do wish it had worked out better for him and that the manager had given him more game time as they thought he showed some flashes of brilliance. anyway genuinely good luck next season

totally disagree, the wee guy was a first team pick for 6 years and won Player of the year and young player of the year awards. lazy players don't win these accolades or if they do they must have fantastic ability. not sure either if we can say Celtic have progressed since his first spell when we were easily qualifying for champions league etc. if we can get him for a low transfer fee then I would go for it. its ok saying Ronni prefers young players but if McGeady comes back it will be because the manager wants him. wee Lubo wasn't young when we signed him and he was fantastic. not putting Aiden in the same category but just pointing out that a bit of experience can bring something to the team. ok Everton fans don't like him but who do they like, Lukaku gets pelters from them

Bit harsh in my opinion, can hardly blame him for other teams offering him a contract (have we?), hardly played recently but still our top scorer, still think he could come good for us, his link up play set up the 2 goals against Partick then dumped on the bench again
