What was the craic with Emelio walking over to the corner today before the lap of honour? Looked like he was waving goodbye. He was wiping the tears from his eyes. Did I miss something recently? Is he off to pastures new then? I hope not but it certainly looked that way : (

I heard that he'd had offers for the MLS, as good as Tierney has been I would have still liked to see Emilio getting some game time as he was always a threat going forward, although ropey at the back. Seemed to know what playing for Celtic was all about too, unlike some.

2.) 09 May 2016 12:24:51
He does it all the time. I'm nearly sure i posted here that he done the same thing this time last yr away to St Johnstone as well.

Wont be suprised if he leaves but yday had nothing to do with that.

3.) 09 May 2016 13:44:00
I've never seen him do it before but I don't attend away games. I hope you are right gaelicbhoy. Teirney has done brilliant but there's still room for Emelio, imo.

4.) 09 May 2016 18:27:21
I'd like to see him played in front of Tierney. He's not the best defensively but he was great for us when attacking.

Neil Lennon saying that he wants Kris Commons to join him at Bolton. Not sure I'd be all that bothered if he went in January to be honest. Not exactly setting the heather ablaze this season is he?

Beware in case you get what you wish for! Reminds me of sitting at Murrayfield and wishing the much maligned Sammy was still playing. Never more so was " don't throw out your dirty water until you have clean water in"

{Ed007's Note - That's very profound, Jimmy, I like that.}

2.) The commons situation is strange. The best player in the league last year, and one of the only ones to put in a shift in Europe. How can Ron not get a turn out of him?

Why anyone would take the wanderers over paradise is quite beyond me, however. Neil's comments about them having football in their blood and all that - might as well be talking about Ayr United or Alloa Athletic.

I've just read online that Kristoffer Ajer has a thumb injury and hasn't travelled to Astana with the squad because of it. Anyone heard about this? I hope it's false or we're even shorter on defensive options. I thought the lad looked very tidy at CB in pre-season.

1.) 25 Jul 2016 15:21:26
Aye its true weetam, he's had to see a specialist according to the Chris Davies when the press interviewed him at the airport. A bhoy on Celtic's official twitter site responded to Davies quote by saying "Roy Aitken pulled out of a crucial European tie with a THUMB injury ABSOLUTELY NEVER". lol. To be fair i think the Bear would have still played after having had a leg amputated lol.

2.) 25 Jul 2016 15:57:12
The bear was always my hero, I have always been keen to see him involved in a coaching role at Parkhead.
I would have loved his autograph to add to my collection. (Inc big jock's and Alex ferguson a on the same piece of paper! )

3.) 25 Jul 2016 16:13:47
I remember one game against the first incarnation of rangers where he smashed through them all with players just bouncing off him, then he belted the ball into the net, then ran behind the goals up to them all, waving his fist at them. He would probably be arrested and banned for 20 games if he did it nowadays island celt lol.

4.) 25 Jul 2016 17:47:56
Jamesbhoy that was my first ever game against that mob. February 21 1979 and we beat them 3-1 with Nicholas bagging first two. Great memories of that day🍀😂👏.

Just read this statement from Deila. He's talking in defence of Lawell but I think it's indicitive of what went wrong for Ronny:

"Consistency is unbelievably important and he's been successfull all the time. We've had trouble getting into the Champions League for the last two years but, again, that can turn around. It's very difficult when everything is a failure when you lose and everything is okay when you win. It's not normal. "

Maybe not normal at Stromgodset Ronny. I think the job was just way too big for him. Way bigger than he thought it would be in terms of pressure and expectation.
I wish him all the best and I hope he finds another club that's better suited. More importantly, I hope we can find a manager that is better suited to our great club and the pressures that come with the job.

Of all the names mentioned so far I'd really like Moyes. I think he'd be hungry to get it right and he'd be here for the long term and bring us the ten. My heart thinks DD is going to dip his pocket though and make Keane an offer he can't refuse. but back on planet Earth, it'll be welcome to the club Malky McKay or Paul Hartley : (

Weetam1888

1.) 24 Apr 2016 16:37:05
You would take Hartley or McKay? What exactly have they done? Keane was a wonderful player not as good a manager we would aswell fold out youth set up if we had Keane. Changes take time RD would not have been everyone's cup of tea but atleast his philosophy and youth policy had us heading in the right direction can't see many of the possible managers mentioned taking the time to work with the youths RD was on to a hiding the minute he arrived from the press our own players to loyal to an ex manager who let them away with murder and left for pastures new and our so called best fans in the world listening to phone ins and believing the so called experts and ex players that were all too happy to put the boot in and have there say.

2.) 25 Apr 2016 04:07:43
Where do I say that mate? I suggested that they are the calibre of manager thst we will more than likely end up with.

Hey Ed andeveryone, happy Christmas to one and all. I hope that everyone is having a great time. Mrs Tam got me an Android tv box and I'm over the moon that she took the hint. I wondered if Ed or any other of you fine chaps would be kind enough to suggest a few add ons I should load into it. I've seen many mentioned on here over recent months but I can't find them on the page now. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Cheers everyone.

Weetam1888

{Ed007's Note - Merry Christmas mate. I've installed WOOKIE onto my box which seems to have everything I'm looking for but have a look at our Android page HERE where there's some posts about it. If you send me in an e-mail address I can put you in touch with Welshbhoy who kindly said he would be happy to help anyone out.}

1.) 25 Dec 2015 20:18:57
Brilliant! Thanks Ed. My email is *************** I'll have a look at that wookie now and see what's what. Looking forward to cancelling BT :)

{Ed007's Note - I've e-mailed yourself and Welshbhoy to let him know you'll be in touch.}

2.) 25 Dec 2015 22:14:00
Cheers Ed, got wookie on there now and it's amazing. The wife is very happy. I'm starting to wonder who this box is really for. She just said "oh yes, I can watch Friends whenever I want now. " Oh dear. :D.

{Ed007's Note - Isn't that on 24/7 anyway? Have a look in the UKTurk add on, I love the stuff on there and in the sports section Robocop is where I watch my football, including Hoops games.}

From the official site:

A FANTASTIC five Celtic players now know they will be bound for Brazil this summer after the World Cup squads for all the finalists were announced this week.
Representing the Hoops in South America will be Efe Ambrose (Nigeria), Fraser Forster (England), Emilio Izaguirre (Honduras), Tom Rogic (Australia) and Georgios Samaras (Greece)

So is sammi still going to be our bhoy to cheer on then? Is PL finally putting a deal on the table for him? I just wondered because of the wording used here. Personally I hope so as sammi, as frustrating a player as he can be, has shown us time and again that he is capable of playing the Celtic way. On his day he can be unplayable and can be a match changer/winner. I know he can also be piss poor and look uninterested too but, when I compare him to some of the dead weight in the squad that we have spent decent money on that can't do for us what sammi has/can. wtf? sort it out PL!

Weetam1888

1.) Well Greece's group stage games run from the 14th to 24th June, and I'd assume Samaras' contract will expire in July. The WC only runs to the 13th July. I'd love him to be resigning but I think you're reading too much into it mate!

2.) No please no Sammy is earning a fortune and did NOTHING last season . There are much better options out their for the money he is on .

3.) Sammy took a 40% paycut to join us and has been a fantastic servant! He struggled at first, as most players do when they join a club like Celtic, but he turned his career around after those two goals against the Deady Bears at Mordor a few years ago! He did nothing this year? 7 goals in 20 league appearances + 4 goals in 12 goals in 12 CL appearances from LW. This season was his worst in years, but I'm sure if you look back through my posts about September or October I said it wouldn't surprise me if Sammy's lack of form was down to a fallout behind closed doors, maybe the fact he didn't get offered a new deal played a huge factor?!

4.) Can you name one mate? I don't see any player taking a 40% wage cut like Sammy did to join us. Sammy is an outstanding player, one I'm very sad to see leave the hoops. He is a lovely guy as well and didn't deserve to be treated the way he has. I hope he ends up at a better team than ours because quite frankly he deserves it.

5.) This is one point we've always seen eye to eye about Darren, a lot of people underestimate Sammy's worth to Celtic!

6.) Love Sammy when he's on form. It's just seldom that he's on form. I don't think he's done enough to warrant a new contract.

7.) Hasn't done enough? He was our third highest goalscorer this season, despite playing 15-20 games less than some players!

8.) Take away his goals in Europe the past two seasons and it'd tell a different story. HJK would've put us out of the CL 3rd Q Round on away goals if it wasn't for his goal in the last 5 mins over in Helsinki during the 2nd leg, we would still be searching for a first away win in the CL Group Stage if he hadn't scored a last minute winner + Shakhter Karagandy would've took us to ET as it would've been 2-2 on agg. So we might've not even had a CL campaign if it wasn't for Sammy!

9.) When judging a player and talking what he has done, its foolish to say something like, apart from, or leaving aside . Judge all the games over the period .

10.) Sammi should get a deal, piss poor how he been treated

11.) Sorry guys not for me, he is on 25 - 30 grand a week in they last year of his contract ( correct me if i'm wrong ed but this is what i'm led to believe ) . Lovely big guy that he is and a great servant that he has been, there are far better, more consistent and more productive player's out there in that wage bracket . Now its debatable that we will get one off them in, that is a different story .

Too late bhoys. The Griffiths ship has sailed already. I seen on The Rangers/Rangers site that he'll be signing for them. Good move by Zombie FC. I think he might just be the man to help them finally get the better of the mighty Stirling! Gawn yersel ya deluded eejits! Cheered me right up today that one did. Weetam1888

I thought the Hibs fans were brilliant at the game (on telly) and put the home side to shame. Great turn out and great atmosphere from the away end. Killies big banner behind the goal was a plus point too. As for you Kelpie, I suggest you lay off the El Dorado. Weetam1888

@1. I do like your membership idea and I, for one, would happily pay into such a scheme. I know some will disagree as money is tight all over and we already pay into the club for games and merchandise etc but any other possible revenue streams should be explored to help us compete against teams from more lucrative leagues and I reckon that those who can afford it would happily give the equivalent of a couple of beers a month. Good Idea! Just saying. Weetam1888

It was 1938, before war broke out. He had done an amazing job rebuilding Germany at that point and was doing a lot to keep peace in Europe at the time, that's why he received the recognition. People soon changed their opinions of him though, as history shows.

I watched the Dundee UTD game on tv that day at my sisters house. and jumped and punched a hole clean through her roof when big Jan scored. Pure magic! Sister wasn't so pleased though.

Awful? Really? I think there were plenty other candidates more deserving of that tag, rather than the young lad Roberts. So he missed a sitter, big wows man. Where were all of our full internationalists like Brown and Lustig whilst this complete capitulation against a team of charlatans was happening? Don't blame the bairns, blame the men that should have done better!

Agreed that Erik should have started but please lay off the young lad Roberts. I thought he did really well at times and was certainly one of our most potent attackers. He looked gutted after his miss and I really felt for him. As someone posted earlier, he needed an arm around him at half time but it didn't look like he got one. Please remember the lads age. A multi million pound player he may be but he didn't ask for that label. He's just a bairn mind. So what if he missed a gift chance under pressure, he'll learn from it. At least he actually showed some emotion and passion. unlike so many others that were wearing the hoops today. Too many imposters in our team. My last tuppence worth is that Broony shouldn't be near a Celtic shirt at the moment, never mind having the armband. A leader? An inspiration? A driving force? So disappointed in the team today, we were so bad from start to finish and it's not the first time a lower league side have raised their game to have a go at the champs. Fair play to them too. only 4 years old and they've made it to a cup final. Is that another record? :D.
