Ed I see the finnbogason rumour is popped it's head up again! Is this just same old same old or is there any substance in it?

Tamc1888

{Ed007's Note - I expect Finnbogason to be looking for an exit from Greece in January but I don't know if there is any interest from CFC, unless John Park has had a massive change of heart there's no chance he will come here.}

1.) 19 Dec 2015 02:40:03
If I had a quid for every..

2.) 19 Dec 2015 08:41:58
It wouldn't be a transfer window without someone mentioning Finnbogason. makes me laugh.

3.) 19 Dec 2015 09:06:53
Ah the smell of a not so fresh transfer window. Hasn't quite done it in Greece or Spain but I'd still have him all day long. Davie Selke would be my number one shout given our policy. The Croatian CM we've veen linked with looks like he can really play.

4.) 19 Dec 2015 10:59:42
Is Davie Selke not a German striker? If so, who's the Croatian CM?

5.) 19 Dec 2015 11:22:15
Called Ivan Mocinic Wyllie. Came from the usual hit whore sites mind.

Ed probs a lot of nonsense but has anyone heard about the ibrahimavic rumour that's doing the rounds on Twitter and fb can any1 shed any light or am I dreaming lol

1.) 02 Aug 2015 23:01:55
It's an old post from 2 years ago, lenny joked he'd struggle to get in the team

30 Jul 2015 21:37:58
Ed is there anything in this Kramer rumour and if not is there anything happening that you know with any other targets?

Tamc1888

{Ed007's Note - Kramer was watched at the weekend so there's certainly an interest from us and the ball is still in Marcel Halstenberg's court as CFC try to persuade him to leave Germany early. St Pauli accepted our bid last month but are in no hurry to lose the player and the player himself wants to do the right thing for his present club, he's showing them a bit of loyalty and the club are happy to leave the decision in the player's hands.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see a stop gap LB brought in if Halstenberg decides to stay in Germany as RD will want him on a pre-contract at least come January.}

1.) 31 Jul 2015 04:14:34
This transfer would leave an 8M whole in our defence at a vital period in our development, whether its pre- or post- CL, and whether we make it or no. Surely selling VVD is tantamount to throwing in the towel this season?

2.) 31 Jul 2015 07:37:37
When are the final champions league qualifiers , will we have enough time to replace him if he was to go?

3.) 31 Jul 2015 15:44:31
If we qualify the 2nd leg of the play off round will be on 25th or 26th of August . I think the final day for signing is September 1st .

Ed you are very quiet on this what's your feelings towards RD and do u think he will be here come the end of the week?

Tamc1888

{Ed007's Note - My feelings towards the manager hasn't changed just because we lost a game. I've experienced CFC losing matches before and I'll experience us losing again, it's hardly the end of the world.}

1.) 04 Feb 2016 16:34:19
But do you think he is he man to take us forward in terms of getting into the champions league at the 4 th time of asking?

{Ed007's Note - It's the beginning of February, there's more important things to concentrate on than the CL qualifiers that are months away and we've got a league and a Scottish Cup to win before them.}

2.) 04 Feb 2016 16:56:09
Do you think ronnie would get on better with a new assistant manager rather than Collins?

{Ed007's Note - Definitely. Collins is clueless and I've said it from the very beginning. If RD wasn't getting picking his own assistant it should at least have been someone that knew the Scottish game.}

3.) 04 Feb 2016 17:08:14
One of my work colleagues son used to be a hibs youth player and he said he was a pig of a man to the youths. Also said he took his shirt of telling them he expected there body's to be like his not sure how true that is tho.

{Ed007's Note - He's pig ignorant and has zero people skills. Part of an assistant's job is to be the buffer between the players and the manager, you either need to be respected or more one of the lads to keep the balance and Collins is neither. I still don't think him and Scott Brown get on and that's not ideal for an assistant and a captain.}

4.) 04 Feb 2016 17:56:09
Is it true that the players refused to play for him before he left hibs?

{Ed007's Note - I don't know if it got that bad but players were very vocal of his failings.}

5.) 04 Feb 2016 19:25:46
Yip new assistant all we need, then all the problems are solved 🙈.

01 Feb 2016 19:36:10
Ed do you thinks that's us or is there anything else in the making?

Tamc1888

{Ed007's Note - Well a press conference has been arranged so it looks like that could be it on the incomings unless Pedro has something up his sleeve. Aidan Nesbitt has been made available for loan with Partick Thistle looking the favourites and that's Ciftci away to Eskisehirspor - what a great £1.5 million buy he worked out to be!}

1.) 01 Feb 2016 20:11:32
I think it's a disgrace that we've taken on Roberts and sent Nesbitt out on loan. That'll probably hinder Christie as well. Kazim-Richards tbh I did say could be decent if managed well although I never knew the half of what people have been saying about his previous antics. I just thought he was a bit of a big headed, strop throwing type in a similar mould to Griffiths just getting caught up in daft stuff. I'm very disappointed even though by all accounts we've got a very good player in Roberts.

2.) 01 Feb 2016 20:08:23
Total agree ed. was sayn earler how many duds have we wasted 1.5 - 2m on. how much wages have we spunked over the last few years.

Then we walk away from genuine potential over a few hundred grand or 1m.

{Ed007's Note - Pukki, Balde, Bangura, Boeriggter, Scepovic and now Ciftci, we've spent millions on dross. Is this latest diddy any better - not a hope in hell.}

3.) 01 Feb 2016 21:04:31
Dont post much but on this site a lot ed. but i don't think iv heard yourself as pist off as i hear you tnite lol but i feel your pain mate could this club fall any further?

The media will tell us its because of rangers and no competition ect. but this downfall is all about celtic and wat they have or haven't done!

Hope you ok mate.

{Ed007's Note - I'm scunnered mate, absolutely scunnered. I had high hopes in this window getting Sviatchenko in quite early, Stokes out early(ish) - was even happy that Roberts is an 18 month loan - and yet it's the last hours of the window and here we are signing dregs that nobody else wanted.}

4.) 01 Feb 2016 21:34:09
Rasmussen as well ed.

{Ed007's Note - I forgot about him. I'm going to have nightmares now because of you.}

5.) 01 Feb 2016 22:52:28
It's good that our supporters actually support a new player and help to build his confidence, especially before he kicks a ball for us . Don't let our dislike of R D and PL get in the way of welcoming new players to the club . We need them to do well for us and we as good supporters can help.

6.) 01 Feb 2016 23:29:52
Ed, we've always wasted money on dud strikers (Fortune, Cascarino, Camara, to name a few) . I think we've had more bad than good in my time of watching the team. We should have someone like Sutton as a scout as he would know what to look out for.

{Ed007's Note - Nothing even to do with the scouting, add up the money and anyone with a half decent knowledge of the game could have came up with at least one quality striker.
It's just a hypothetical example but remember how the Rhodes deal was set up that if Huddersfield were to get the whole £8.5 million Blackburn had to get promoted and stay in the EPL for a season as long as Rhodes was there, it depended on goals scored and international caps etc etc. We could have paid the whole fee with what we've wasted. We could have structured the deal for winning trophies, European qualification. I don't know how much Blackburn eventually paid for Rhodes but it was nowhere near £8.5 million - and remember that transfer fees are paid over the duration of the contract or until the player is sold.}

19 Oct 2015 22:52:44
Ed do u know what the script with scepovic is? I thought that getafe had him on loan with an obligation to buy him not a view to buy him can u clarify please?

Tamc1888

{Ed007's Note - Yeah the deal is that he will join Getafe next summer but they could also finalise it in January as the only reason the deal wasn't finalised was the time constraints of the Spanish window closing.}

1.) 20 Oct 2015 10:02:31
Any idea of the fee?

{Ed007's Note - It's round about the £1.3 - 1.5m mark.}

2.) 20 Oct 2015 13:54:37
Chers Ed. I know it's early but he's scored a goal per 130 mins in La Liga. Keep that up and Getafe will be laughing all the way to the cash point.

{Ed007's Note - It's Lawwell that should be laughing all the way to the bank after at least getting some money back on yet another awful John Park recommended striker to add to the list of his flops along with Balde, Bangura and Derk Boerrigter. Scepovic never wanted to come to Glasgow and made that crystal clear to his representatives, how do you expect a player to react to be living in a country he doesn't want to be in, playing for a club he didn't want to be at?
The important issue for me is that out of all that money wasted on fees, wages, signing-on fees, agent fees and tax etc we would have been in a better financial position if we had bought Finnbogason, even Jordan Rhodes would have cost less than the Balde, Bangura, Finnbogason and Scepovic deals combined.
Contrary to what was reported Rhoded did not cost Blackburn £8 million, that would have been the total price if Blackburn had been promoted and stayed in the EPL, it was also tied with how many goals Rhodes scored etc.
And just remember that very few transfer fees are paid in full, the majority of them are paid over the length of the contract signed. As an example, let's say we agreed a fee with Huddersfield for Rhodes for £6 million and a 5 year contract, that breaks down to £1.2 million per season we would pay - then you would work in some bonuses e.g. £400k for CL qualifying, £100k for Last 16 qualification, or £200k for EL qualifying etc etc The better Rhodes plays, the more goals he scores bringing the team more success and in turn earning Huddersfield more money
I keep saying it and I'll keep on saying it, until the board sanction signings of higher calibre - and higher wages - we're going to be taking chances with young mediocre players and blindly hoping that they improve.
We've got enough players already here of the same standard as those I've mentioned, Gordon, Ambrose, Forrest, Mulgrew, Commons is as one dimensional as the graffiti on the walls that says we're magic, his entire game has become get the ball, look up and shoot from anywhere. You can see the frustration on some of the other players who have worked to get into a good position only to see Commons blast it over from 25 yards - now that's OK if the player is regularly scoring from that area but Commons isn't, is it his lack of tactical understanding or is just his own personal greed that he will try shooting from anywhere in the hope it works once or twice a season.}

3.) 20 Oct 2015 16:19:22
I love an Ed rant!!

For all those that absolutely love Ronny there is so much doubt over his playing of Scepovic. Stefan was and is mince. Too timid, never looked interested. Let's remember that although we are sold that La Liga is a great standard Ronaldo and Messi have more than a goal a game ratio because more than 50% of the teams aren't up to much. Also Miku looked a player in La Liga but no matter how hard we try we can't forget about him. Gravesen signed from Real Madrid and was honking too.

Agreed with 90% of Eds post but feel it is a bit harsh on Commons. We aren't scoring enough goals at the moment and that is because we are trying to walk the ball into the net every week. At least Commons buys a ticket for the lottery although I agree it is frustrating that he hardly gets a single number!!

{Ed007's Note - Commons is just as much a part of the problem as anyone else for not scoring enough goals, He's so easy to defend against and any half intelligent defender will just stand off him inviting him to try and take you one or enticing him to shoot knowing 9 out 10 times it will be nowhere near the goal, Commons isn't a team player and his style of play impacts on the fluency of the rest of the play.}

4.) 20 Oct 2015 17:44:00
Hail hail to all of that Ed.

With the figures you mention and by the time you tot up all the add ons and fees we're at a loss on another forward. I thought we'd got a good player in Boerrigter but that's by the by. At this stage it can't just be injuries keeping him out the frame. The board need to change their transfer/wage policy or go. Too many players have been signed that have little or no impact - through either mis-scouting or the head coach not seeing them as part of their plans. People still go on about 5-6m or 40k a week being too much of a risk. Is it? We're already pissing money away buying 1-2m players. The lack of reinvestment for the few that do turn out to be decent us just another kick in the clems.

As for Commons, not harsh at all. Said many a time Niall his shoot on site policy is detrimental as it is beneficial. His conversion rate wpuld certainly set a few straight. Used to say tje same about Lampard. Scores some corkers but misses ten times as many. Commons is a very clever player, so I put it down to greed. So far this season he's been typically inconsistent. He's done next to nowt for us in Europe. Said after the game against Ajax that I thought that was his best European game for us off the top of my head - how long has he been here though? Would rather see Johansen, Armstrong and Rogic played at CAM ahead of him regularly.

{Ed007's Note - All transfers are a risk but we seem to be taking a higher level of risks than we should be. I don't care what anyone says, if you pay higher wages you attract a better quality of player and higher wages doesn't necessarily mean higher transfer fees, look at Ledley and Matthews as examples of what offering top dollar to Bosman's can bring in, also a lot of clubs drop the fees they're looking for for the higher earners that they are looking to move on, I know it would never happen but Van Persie to Fenerbahce for under £4 million is an example of that on a much higher scale to us.}

5.) 20 Oct 2015 19:03:46
NiallH, I know Barcelona and Real Madrid are way ahead of the rest of La liga, but I think the rest of the teams in Spain are way ahead of the teams in Scotland.
Teams like Villareal, Atletico Bilbao and Celta Vigo, are way ahead of teams like Partick Thistle and Ross County.
I think Scepovic is like a lot of modern players, in that they have no feeling for the clubs they play for and just go through the motions, they start upping their game when there is either a pay rise or a new contract on the horizon.

6.) 20 Oct 2015 19:33:40
He'll certainly suit the Spanish game more gerry. We had Kramaric "waiting in the rain" but opted for Scepovic, who didn't want to come, probably for the sake of a few hundred thousand.

7.) 20 Oct 2015 22:29:09
Gerry

He has scored against Malaga and Las Palmas. Not one of the great teams you have mentioned.

Scepovic was behind Ciftci and Stokes in Ronny's plans so that is how highly he is rated. Never good enough and never will be. Best rid of him.

8.) 20 Oct 2015 23:22:04
It does'nt matter how good a player is, its how the manager uses him, if a player scores a lot of goals in a different league, then he gets tranferred to say, for example celtic, and Ronny is the manager, and he says you have got to play my way, and no other way, and his goals dry up, so what's the problem?, is it the players or is it Ronnies.

9.) 21 Oct 2015 12:40:04
Aindoh I doub that here are many successful managers around nowadays who don't have a game plan for their team which includes individual players . If you looked closely at any team in these islands who regularly buy players, I think you will find many players just don't make it at their new clubs .
It's just a widespread problem .

10.) 21 Oct 2015 22:16:27
Aindoh

Read Eds third reply.

Stefan didn't want to be here in the first place. We all remember us chasing him for weeks only to be told the day before that he was staying in Spain. That fell through and he ended up with us as his only option.

He never showed anything in the time he was here that suggested he would cut it. Glad we are rid.

24 Sep 2015 19:17:17
Ed what's the story with Scott Allan is he injured or what? Noticed he isn't in the development squad tonight and wasn't there last night either any news? And do u think Celtic will sign Cole mate?

Tamc1888

{Ed007's Note - Yeah Tam, Allan's carrying an injury but it's nothing serious. I've not heard anything about Cole, sorry mate.}

1.) 24 Sep 2015 21:27:20
I found the Allan signing puzzling tbh to me rogic is the one who is going to push on in that position.

{Ed007's Note - And Aidan Nesbitt looks like he's starting to step up a level again and be in and around the first team squad.}

2.) 24 Sep 2015 21:33:13
Tamc, I would be amazed if Cole deal went through. We won't pay him more than £25k ( ed is that our top wage)? He is never match fit so unless he gets lots of game time which means Griffiths or Cifti sit on the bench is not going to happen. Why would he sign for £25k with no European football so he is SOL only when he could go to America which is at least as good a league as ours and earn £40k a week? It does not stack up? He has no allegiance to Celtic so I can't understand why he is here?

{Ed007's Note - I don't see us offering Cole anywhere near the £25k a week mark, paying that for a player who can't play in Europe and who is going to be at best second choice would be sheer stupidity imo.
Cole doesn't need the £ and he wouldn't have been a top earner in the MLS, with their salary cap and designated player system there's not many in the USA getting more than £25k a week.
Nigel Reo-Coker - on £85k a week at Aston Villa - is on about £3.5k (£3,500) a week at Montreal Impact alongsode Didier Drogba who is 'only' on £32k p.w. over there. Ex-Chelsea and Man City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips who was earning £70k a week in England is walking home with £1.5k (£1,500) a week.
I mean it's Carlton Cole we're talking about here, he's is hardly a Kaka (£85k p.w.) but then again Jozy Altidore (remember him, 3 goals in 52 appearances for Sunderland and 2 goals in 30 appearances for Hull?) gets a staggering £60k a week at Toronto FC.
Sorry, I'm rambling here but I think if we offer him a deal it will be better or at least match anything that was on offer from the MLS.}

3.) 24 Sep 2015 22:20:28
Maybe he's wanting a leauge winners medal and if we are in Europe after Christmas he would be available

{Ed007's Note - It might well be the chance to win medals.}

4.) 24 Sep 2015 23:02:33
Well he doesn't seem to have a lot of options available, and I think winning medals & Europe might appeal to him at his age, and London only an hour away by plane.
Plus he's got to be better than cifti , so it might suit both parties if a salary can be agreed.

{Ed007's Note - I really don't see his salary being a problem. He took a 50% pay cut from £28k to £14k a week when West Ham were relegated in 2011 so he doesn't seem to be money orientated.}

5.) 25 Sep 2015 07:55:46
Yes I agree ed, think he's made his money plus £10k a week is still a lot of money

6.) 25 Sep 2015 22:33:35
If we do sign him , I think it's good to know that not all players put money as first interest . I hope if he comes , he does well .

01 Sep 2015 23:47:09
Thinks that's us for this window bhoys and ghirls think we will struggle big time this season in Europe but hey ho don't we always , and as for us not bringing in another striker just need to hope cifti turns it on when his suspension finishes .HH

Same old same old on this site everyone saying ckr isn't that good, give the guy a chance we got him on a free if I'm not mistaken and he has over 30 caps for turkey let's wait 6 months and judge him then if he is no good all we have lost is wages and a signing on fee which we would probes recup in selling him so it's a no lose imo, and let's be honest he can't be any worse than cifti can he?
