Ed i just read there was a clause that ange couldn't take any staff with him, what's to stop them quitting and going? Just curious how it can be enforced?

Stevebhoy_81

{Ed002's Note - They are contracted to Celtic.}

1.) 09 Jun 2023 08:43:28
So they can't just quit and move? Just seems a strange situation if they want to move but we keep them then we have unhappy coaches, would be the same for a player. Would we really want them then.

2.) 09 Jun 2023 08:57:09
Their contracts will just work the same as a player or manager I reckon, Steve. Like you say, it's probably in everyone's best interest to just write off the remainder if a coach really doesn't want to be here.

3.) 09 Jun 2023 17:12:34
Surely reason Celtic say no to Kennedy and anyone else leaving us to join Spurs is to force money bag Spurs from EPL to pay money to poor Celtic from SMSM for the right to employ Kennedy etc.

04 May 2023 10:38:37
Not posted in a while, but just read matt doherty could be moving on in the summer having only joined athletico in jan, would you have him at celtic? Plenty of experience and cover for right and left back?

Stevebhoy_81

1.) 04 May 2023 12:40:08
He's awful and would want ridiculous wages.

2.) 04 May 2023 13:39:39
Not for me either Stevie, yes he's experienced and cover but as brumbhoy says, we could probably put the wages he'd ask for to better use ?.

3.) 04 May 2023 17:34:33
Decent player Stevie but not for me and wages would be too high.

4.) 04 May 2023 22:24:44
Not good enough so no.

03 Nov 2021 19:17:11
Just reading were close to agreeing a deal with Japanese left back Reo Hatate, a japan International, also says moved to the next stage of negotiations with maeda. Fingers crossed we're getting business done quickly.

Stevebhoy_81

1.) 03 Nov 2021 19:49:04
Saw that mate, In ange we trust.

2.) 03 Nov 2021 19:49:13
Steve,
Hatate can also play in Centre Midfield.
He must be 2 footed, playing at left back because Hatate is predominately right footed.
Hatate is a good age at 24 in a couple of weeks.
His contract expires at the end of January, so Celtic could be getting a bargain.

3.) 03 Nov 2021 21:09:23
Makes sense if he can play centre mid aswell will suit anges inverted full back style.

4.) 03 Nov 2021 22:04:14
I would love this the boy is a player, smallish like Kyogo but really strong.
How many players do you know can play both full back and a no 10.
Him and Maeda would be great, also on wish list is Samper. Spanish boy playing in Japan.
What a window that would be.

5.) 03 Nov 2021 22:06:48
Good point Stevebhoy and also being comfortable with both feet. ?.

6.) 03 Nov 2021 22:08:30
Super excited about this if true mate.

7.) 04 Nov 2021 07:23:44
It's supposed to be billocks guys.

30 Mar 2021 13:00:59
Ed, i see more paper talk of Lucien Favre, would you think this a realistic target? Reading his Wikipedia on the teams he's managed and seems to have done very well. Also plays a attacking style of football so it says. No doubt just another day another name. But has to be better than some that have been mentioned.

Stevebhoy_81

{Ed002's Note - Lucien Favre is looking for another role and would be good for Celtic but might want certain guarantees about making changes.}

1.) 31 Mar 2021 07:03:03
Favre's football philosophy would tie in nicely with how Celtic want to play. 👌.

2.) 31 Mar 2021 11:42:12
I'd be buzzing. We should be on the phone asking the question.

Just a thought I'm all for bringing in projects etc, also I think ready made first team players need to be brought in, but if we are paying the wage of projects and not playing them, why not loan them out for a percentage of the wage to same league clubs, get them developed then you get to see them fighting and see what they have about them, at least then if they come back we might get money for them if deemed not good enough or might get a few back who actually make a few waves in league. Sooner loan out than just sitting collecting a wage. Has to be some sort of way we can use other clubs to our advantage for us and make them stronger when they play sevco, not sure on rules to same leagues clubs but surely a few is allowed that's a project. Test them if good bring them back if not sell them on. Rather than waste wages keeping and not playing.

Stevebhoy_81

1.) 25 Feb 2024 00:07:39
The SPFL rules state -

A SPFL club are allowed a maximum of 6 loan signings at any one time.

A SPFL club are allowed a maximum of 2 players at any one time, from a club playing in the same division.

A SPFL club are allowed a maximum of 4 players at any one time, from a club playing in different division.

I suppose that means Celtic could potentially loan out 2 players, to each of the other 11 clubs in the Premiership.
Although Celtic and other clubs are only allowed 6 loan signings at any one time.

2.) 25 Feb 2024 00:43:45
It's shocking our signings haven't made the mark our average players are worth 2million pounds the board are shocking.

3.) 25 Feb 2024 08:52:32
What's just as shocking is that between 3 defenders in nawrocki, Lagerbielke and bernabei we've roughly £12/ 13 million pounds worth sitting idle nearly every other week. we've still got mccarthy on the books for roughly another 2 years on a reported 25 grand a week. that has to be the best contract that lad has ever signed.

11 Feb 2024 20:06:16
Thought today was a good win, especially the amount of pressure put on, terrible pitch, missing players but we are still getting results, I'll be honest I think they will go top after Ross county but then its a different animal they have to stay there I really don't see them having that mentality, then every player that comes back to us will be a boost, they will have a run of games, europa, league, Cup just can't see the coping with the pressure our players have been there and done it.

Stevebhoy_81

1.) 11 Feb 2024 21:07:04
I think Sevco will also go top for the first time, since they stepped into Celtic Park on February 2nd 2022 and got slapped about silly. ?

The last time a Celtic fan left the Stadium without our club being top of the league, was when Abada scored that only goal of the game in injury time against Dundee Utd.

Since then Celtic have went 78 league matches in a row top of the league.
That’s more than 2 full league campaigns.

Celtic again went top on league day one in the 2022/ 23 season and we stayed there all season.
It was only a 2-0 victory at home to Aberdeen on the Sunday but it was enough to put Celtic top because of the Saturday results.

Once again Celtic only beat Ross County 4-2 on the opening match of the 2023/ 24 season but again it was enough to put us top and Celtic have remained there until this day.

I must admit, I was expecting Celtic to make it 91 league games in a row until the end of the season.

Records are there to be broken but 78 ( and maybe counting ) games in a row top of the league and a Quadruple Treble will NEVER EVER BE BROKEN ?.

Buzz love your stats and comments! Great reads!
Hope to god a negative result for them that keeps us top no matter what!
Appreciate the stats and info you give though great reading them, especially living in London gives help with arguments!

3.) 11 Feb 2024 22:23:05
Cheers Steve,

I don’t think the English look at Celtic fans the same since the internet.

When I was younger, the English club fans respected us, when they constantly wanted Celtic to play Friendly and Testimonial matches because of our brilliant fans.

Back then I could go on a holiday abroad and get constant praise for wearing the Hoops.
Not Now.

The vast majority of English fans now hate Celtic and our fans and I wouldn’t allow my kids to wear the Hoops abroad unless it’s in Santa Ponsa.

How do they treat you my friend?

4.) 11 Feb 2024 22:43:48
Buzz, always enjoy reading your posts as you back up your everyday comments with stats and figures.
Thanks again.

5.) 12 Feb 2024 06:26:14
I think it is more sky tv than the internet that changed that.

Too many of them no longer respect Scottish football as a whole. They believe they are the best league in the world, which has brought a misplaced arrogance.

If we had a loan to buy for idah I'd get it, it's something that has worked and takes away a certain degree of risk. But if its only 6 months loan just for the sake I'd having a different option, I think kieffer Moore would of been a better loan option. If all were looking for is 6 months of something different.
Something is going on in the background, seems like we've secured some key players, spent minimum got a loan, let some players go or loaned out to reduce wage, money sitting in the bank, probably the confidence is we have enough to see the season out just a step ahead and get the champ league money. There's obviously a clash over targets, there's the analytical way of looking at a player and rodgers said he likes to look at a player so you wonder is he identifying players but analysts aren't showing the club the information required or player not hitting those targets.

Hi all

The morning after the window before. Have to say am gutted we didn't get a lb in. Though by the looks of it we had identified about lbs over the last few months and couldn't land them yesterday. That's the nature of this window. I'm more happy the board seen we needed one and went for it.
Saw some criticism that Idah isn't loan to buy, but also think that's why his Verona move fell down as Norwich insisted they didn't want to sell, shows they still see something in him.
Think we did well offloading dead wood, and it gives us a chance maybe to use vata frame and some other youth players. Just on that saw McKenna at queen's park went to Bournemouth brilliant move for a hard working talent. But fingers should be at McCart for chasing him and other talent away.
I don't think the other side were fantastic either in signings. They covered the bases and didn't bring anyone in to change it up or challenge us. But the media will focus on us as usual. I'm confident our squad is strong enough to retain the league.

Just read Joe harts comments, I know he has his faults but he has been steady for us and I think helped as a big club player influence wise. Hopefully he stays beyond this season, even some sort of back up but with future coaching besides Woods. Just seems that type of mentality is what we need around the club.
Also side note called ccv contract he loves the hoops.

Stevebhoy_81

1.) 29 Jan 2024 09:11:38
Joe is a great professional and a really likeable guy. He hasn't been great for us but certainly hasn't been bad. We need a new long term keeper in the summer but i think every celtic fan will remember joe fondly.

2.) 29 Jan 2024 19:25:40
I believe he took the first opportunity to go to Palma to give him a wee lift after his double penalty miss . He didn’t have to do it but that wee gesture should help, Palma . Missing 2 penalties like that must hurt a player, no matter who he is.

13 Jan 2024 10:43:19
Are we playing any friendly games during this time off?

Stevebhoy_81

1.) 13 Jan 2024 11:10:25
It’s a different feeling to this winter break because Celtic have stayed in Scotland.
I’m guessing we might play behind closed doors.

I’m surprised it’s very low key compared to when Brendan was last at the club because he’s changing a winning formula.

I've heard he's in discussions over a new contract and is very happy to stay, although if he was to ever leave west ham would be the team.
That's abit of inside info.

I think jj was great and showed some passion but after the world cup wasnt too interested, but by all accounts, reading he was a good member of the sqaud. I wish him luck 27 and a chance to play top league we have a replacement and personally i think he helped develop ralston aswell. Players like that will come and go but as long as they help the players who are here get better im happy, not every player is celtic when they arrive but they definitely leave never forgetting.

Ed do you think spurs will be dragging there heels on this with the hope they get a bigger transfer fee if the agreement period ends? i've read before spurs are very hard to do deals with.

Stevebhoy_81

{Ed007's Note - Daniel Levy is notoriously tough to deal with but if the rumours are right then the deal is as good as done. I'd ignore all the talk about deadlines etc on clauses.}

I think let them keep saying it eventually it will give us that seige mentality everyone will get fed up them keep saying things, hopefully will spark some form, especially as we have players to come back that will boost us, I'm sure they will be due a few injuries or run of bad form, as long as we're grinding out results whilst not hitting full speed I'm confident we will turn a corner and it will click again.

It's got to be coaching that wants our wingers to pull the ball back, we were very attacking before. now it's more drive in then pass back, pass sideways then to a winger a step over or two then pass back and Sideways and repeat, teams love that it's so slow easy to set up against, before we overwhelmed teams they couldn't cope.

Weejoe from that list I would have tillio and Johnston gone from wingers forrest I think will stay out of loyalty as bit part, yang I'm not too sure about but maybe needs more time to settle.
Centre mid, I would say it's kwon, Mccarthy and turnbull gone, maybe Holm on loan to a side in the league for game time and experience.
