I posted last week about how my Auld dear works with Steve Clarke's brother. According to her Stevie hasn't even been contacted by Celtic which is very strange as he should be a definite candidate! According to his brother he thinks it may be a smokescreen for Malky? I hope I'm wrong as I'd love him to be manager.

Sparky88

1.) I know for a fact Clarke has been spoken to and asked if he'd take the job well before Lennon left. Clarke has been lined up for this for a while, I just don't understand why they're taking so long to get the deal done

2.) @91bhoy, I hope your facts are correct, but what I known has come through Stevie's brother, and he says that he hasn't been spoken to. I also know that he would walk to Paradise for the job. But as I said I hope you are right.

3.) If we haven't even spoken to Steve Clarke then u really have 2 question what's going on behind the seens at paradise. Steve Clarke is everything PL would want i.e. He doesn't have 2 pay a penny for him as he is a free agent and he probably has enough contacts to get loan deals on sum of the best young talent in the premiership saving PL even more money. It's frightening to hear names like Coyle, Houston, Keane etc bein touted for the job. We are in a position of strength we need to keep building on. Didn't we learn our lesson with Dalglish/Barnes and Mowbray which financially cost us dearly!

4.) Sparky I've heard the same as 91bhoy Stevies dad says he's been speaking to celtic since just after Lennon left

5.) I don't see why everybody is so interested in Steve Clarke, he might have worked with good managers but does he match our criteria? Does he know how to develop younger players? Does he know this club and what it takes to succeed? Any real success in management before? He ticks no boxes what so ever for me and it's only my opinion as everybody else has there's but why are we not going for the likes of Paul lambert or jackie McNamara who have done exceptionally well with man management of younger lads especially jackie. The board probably know heehaw about Steve Clarke and he, s only a candidate as we won't have to pay any compensation, usual again tight wods from the board, I'd much rather pay 2 or 3m in compensation to Aston villa for lambo who knows exactly what's required here and has worked wonders with Norwich and villa under difficult circumstances

6.) All this I know, he knows, she knows nonsense. No one knows anything! Unless you're Dermot Desmond, Peter Lawwell or the candidate for the job!

Looking for opinions on the possibility of Lennon leaving. If he leaves (HUGE IF. I don't believe anything says) who should we go for? I see everyone is already pointing at ex Celts or Celtic supporters for the job. I know we all love Celtic fans to be in charge as we see them to be "one of us", but I think it might be our time to think outside the box. With TRFC missing for the foreseeable future we should have an easier ride in trying to win the league. This gives us the chance to cast our net wider and go for a foreign coach. With "them" missing it would relieve pressure on the new guy and give him time to change our style of play into something more attractive.

I look at teams like Swansea and Southampton with their foreign coaches with envy sometimes, they play lovely, fast, free flowing football. Maybe going this route should be a priority and not just an option.

I don't have names to throw in the hat but would be delighted if people had some ideas.

Just want to point out that I do not want Lennon to go, but everyone leaves at some point and If it was to be now It seems like it's the best time to trying something completely new.

1.) Big Johan - said it the other week. He's been involved for a few years now and has shown he can handle the responsibility when Lennon has been banned in the past. Wouldn't cost the Earth and already has the backing of the fans - easy choice really.

2.) Your ides sounds good, but on small problem with regards to you comment about coaches from abroad, yeah they play fast attractive football, but they guys are with teams that go to pitches or stadiums every week and play on a top class surface, every ground in the premier league down south has that surface. Our very own neil lennon tried to play that way in his first season, but openly admitted he would have to change styles to suite the grounds he would be taking his team to, it is rare in the SPL for a team to have a good surface all year round except CP. In reality we could get a manager from abroad, but will that style of football your looking for be possible in our league with our low standard of surfaces'? I don't think it would, we forget Tony Mogga tried a similar style of play in the SPL an was found wanting!

3.) Bit of an off-the-wall suggestion, but it just popped into my head after reading your post. I support Celtic and Athletic Club (Bilbao), it looks like Marcelo Bielsa will be leaving the latter this summer (another if, mind!) and if he does then personally I'd love to see him manage Celtic. Although, like yourself, I'm certainly not clamouring for Lennon to go - just answering your question! ;)

Glenn

4.) If Lennon goes then surely his backroom staff will go to. I would like for us to take a chance on someone like Moravcik as he has played all over europe and hopefully would encourage some of the younger BHOYS at the club.

5.) Would Love to see Martin O'Neill back though can't see that happening as he always needs money to spend. Mark Hughes and Roberto Di Matteo are available but can't see the SPL appealing to them. Jupp Heynckes is available and is due to retire, but could be convinced to take up a year contract in order to inprove his already impressive trophy haul.

DC

6.) Bring in a good German hungry to give the CL a go but cannot get there due to the big two.

7.) I think the EPL and even the Championship can attract these bright foreign managers with the cash they have and the standard of football/opposition in those divisions.
Celtic are a huge, World renowned club in a very, very small pond; at a time when the rest of Scottish football is at a very low ebb.
If we do require a manager in the near future it will be a lot harder to attract a top candidate than ever before IMO.

JJ

8.) A know he's still very young but what about John kennedy from the u20s.

9.) Are the posts on here for real? Contenders for one of the biggest clubs in the world and u think that just because u play for club elevates u to being equal to manage! Larsson? Why, did nothing in Sweden, if that was any other player with management record wld never b discussed. Kennedy, poster obv on drugs. Morachaik, again what experience?lennon won't go this time but when he does I hope the bar is a lot higher. Bigger concern wld b if he did go now what players he'd look to take with him. Stevo dundee

10.) 10 May 2013 22:59:17
If Lenny goes it could be a blessing in disguise as long as he doesn't take Mr Park with him who imo is one of the most valuable members of staff at Celtic. Would love to see a more experienced, more tactically astute manager let loose on our talented squad. Stevie

11.) Sounds like your are all jumping the gun boys. Lennon's going nowhere and he is great for us so he better not go anywhere. Fran

12.) Stevo I don't think the poster is to far away with the John Kennedy shout, yeh fair enough he might not be ready yet, but there will come a time in the near future when he is ready, the same way barca done with Pep!

Garry

13.) Slaven Bilic, although he's probably more than happy making millions in Russia. {Ed007's Note - I thought of him and then said the same as you... money.}

14.) Dont want Neil and his staff to go anywhere. But if he did Slavin Bilic could be a shout. Any opinions. JK

15.) I think Mortan Wieghorst is a good shout. He has experience as a coach and manager. He has contacts in Scandinavia and britian. He has the respect of the celtic fans. Plus he fits the celtic criteria, he's up and coming he's young and hungry.

16.) Owen Coyle will be next manager, that is certain.
HH Stathe

17.) Don't want owen coyle, he would only want the job cause he's no got one. he was offered it before mogga and said NO, why go back to him, like Manchester United etc if u say no to them, chance gone. I feel it should be the same with celtic, say no to us. chance gone!

18.) Totally agree. If Coyle refused the job before he should never be considered again. KL

19.) I can't see Lennon going anywhere. Everton would give him a fair whack of the Felliani (and Baines?) cash but what amount of cash would there be to stop him falling on his backside? That league is ridiculously competitive and anybody outside the top6 can easily see themselves in a relegation battle or thereabouts. Lennon would nosedive his growing stock with one bad year in the EPL-ffs, there are people doubting O'Neil's ability after a few dodgy months at Sunderland! I reckon Lennon will know that his stock can only really go from strength to strength with runs in CL/Europa and that EPL jobs will come along pretty regularly, whos job is safe down there? It would be the wrong move for Lennon and Everton but when the time comes for Lennon, I'd wish him the very best of luck and hope that we could attract someone like Zola or- dare I say it, a Laudrup! ;) Daviebhoy77

20.) Get a grip, you are talking about a manager that has been talking about trying to persuade players to stay and you think with these circumstances he will walk away.
I repeat get a grip.

Lost Bhoy 50

21.) Lost Bhoy just hit the nail on the head. Get a grip! Especially with the Laudrup chat.
God Bless Neil Lennon :) Fran

Right folks, don't shout me down over this one, but would anyone be interested in Frank De Boer as the new manager? I know he's ex Rangers but I think he would do a cracking job, really harshly treated at Palace in my opinion.

Brilliant response Ed haha
No thanks, he won't get us the 9iar never mind 10iar, he'd get EBT payments to ensure it didn't happen.

On the Moretti Mally, just trying to think outside the box, none of the folk being linked really impresses me. Would love someone to come in and really change our style of football.

Best 11? What do you all think?

Sparky88

1.) I'd go for that team, would swap Matthews but who with? He hasn't seemed interested all season

2.) If we're playin two up i'd like to see Scepovic with Guidetti. Take matthews out and just have Griffiths behind the two?

3.) I tried posting a similar formation but it never showed up on the site but I had different players as jimtim said I would have guidetti and scepovic up front right wing back I would have lustig and the three centre back's would be van dyke denayer and ambrose as you need pacey cb's for a 3 man defence but glad to see someone else posting the 3-5-2 my preferred formation I absolutely hate the lone striker formation's

I can't see KT going to Arsenal, they clearly don't have the money to pay what he's worth, if Leicester sell Chilwell, KT will end up at there.

I read this site every day of the week but I only post every now and again as I can't be arsed getting involved in the twatter mob rubbish!
I love seeing fellow celtic supporters opinion but some of you are pathetic! Peter Lawell has only ever looked after celtic first! Not players thinking they are above their station or fans thinking they know what's best! The GB can **** off as far as I'm co concerned, I was there through the rubbish and the atmosphere was always great, whether we won or lost. The GB are not celtic. This football club is a way of life, not a gang!

We will go through next week, not because of a certain section but because we're celtic, and all our fans make a difference

Hull reject? Do you remember John Hartson failing his medical with the dark side? If Hooper was to leave Austin would be an ideal replacement. I hadn't heard anything before regarding behavioral problems, but if it's true I'm sure a move to a club our size could help him realise his potential and iron out any side issues he has. On a last note I do agree with Marco1888, 2.5 to 3 million would be a more realistic fee.

Ralston wasn't good enough for Dundee United in the championship, that says it all really.

Im no lover ok SSB or Keevins, but he did not say that. The actual quote was "for every hopper or Wanyama there is a Mo Bangura" whether we like it or not he is correct. Bangura was awful every game he played for us.

Balde look excellent last night, as did Watt and kayal. I feel better about our future after the game. Concentrate on us instead of worrying what Keevins says. We all know he talks sh**e!
