Ajer is at contract meetings with Celtic, should sign tonight!

Norwegianred

Fingers Crossed - 'Red !

2.) 15 Feb 2016 17:43:34
small update: The clubs agreed tonight, medical tomorrow and signing on wednesday.

3.) 15 Feb 2016 18:11:34
Amazing news, this guy is proper.

4.) 15 Feb 2016 18:34:53
Great stuff Norwegianred now in the papers here too (y)

5.) 15 Feb 2016 18:56:42
Thanks NorwegianRed is the bhoy any good. Is there a bit to go or would he start next season.

6.) 15 Feb 2016 19:23:05
Nice one NR. Could go either way his career that young and I forget the fee Ed007 mentioned over january but remember it was a bit steep. But at this stage it's pretty positive for him. I know there are a lot of talented 17 year olds playing for reserve sides etc but captaining a side against a league for the big boys is very impressive. Looks a bit clumsy technically probably due to his height actually but somehow manages to find his way to goal so good on him. He must have made an impression to make the squad. Brown and Bitton aside, and if Johansen plays across the three, Ajer and Henderson/ Allan as back up for CM, his physical/ aerial presence could well see him getting game time I reckon.

7.) 15 Feb 2016 19:50:37
Rayman, he will play for Start until the preseason i think.
He is a very dedicated player, very smart and already played as captain a few times for Start. He says his favorite position is deeplying playmaker but he also plays attacking midfield and box2box.

I see him as a future captain for Norway, he has the right mindset and still a lot of potential.

8.) 16 Feb 2016 03:11:31
Glad we got this deal done and I imagine it will be for a small fee. He definitely ticks plenty of boxes. I was going to post something similar Jimtim but didn't want to be disrespectful to the lad because I haven't watched him play a full game. i'm struggling slightly with the rave reviews because his youtube videos are a bit rough and eventually physical presence and age will become a lesser factor in how he is rated as a footballer (what a terrible thing to say about a young player, I know! ) . I think he may be a wee bit away from what many are expecting and he could need a few years but he does have time to develop. He is young and has plenty going for him and I am all for these type of signings and really hope he does well for us.

9.) 16 Feb 2016 08:40:16
Ajer may not be the most beutiful player to behold, but he has a lot of passion and dedication, most I've ever seen in an 17 year old. And he is a working horse and bunch of raw talent. Think Celtic could get the best out of him, even without RD being there.
So i'm really exciting for this move but it could turn out both ways, like any other raw talent.

10.) 16 Feb 2016 08:59:59
The fact he's only 17 means he could probably afford to bed in with the youths for the first 6 months or so without too much fanfare or expectation, just let him get used to the club and the rest of the boys without the burden of the "wonderkid" tag. Then once he's settled either bring him into the first team squad or find him a decent club to loan him to until he is ready.

11.) 16 Feb 2016 09:47:23
Like Norwegianred says though rglen mate, although not technically great, it's the mental side - reading of the game, vision, leadership etc - that looks so promising.

Kevbhoy, what you say is all so important too. I don't see any reason why he can't be drip fed first team action now and again when appropriate.

12.) 16 Feb 2016 09:56:25
Yeah JT, mental toughness is probably the most important thing for him right now. If he can adapt to a new country, culture and club well then the playing aspect will take care of itself with the right coaching.

13.) 16 Feb 2016 14:27:35
Most important for him is to get half a season under his belt in Start and then move for the preseason. Think he has a mental toughness, that's why my hopes for him are so big.

14.) 17 Feb 2016 16:23:09
I little context, from today's press conference: "I will [now return home to] take the driving licence and finish second grade at my high school, so I have many things to do back in Norway. "

Rumours of Veton Berisha, 21 year old striker to Celtic. He's a free agent this summer, scored 7 goals and two assist so far this season in 12 games. Good physics, very good on the ball and a lot of talent. Reminds a bit of Guidetti, could be great.

Norwegianred

1.) 06 Jun 2015 22:52:50
Norwegian, was voted best young player in the world by FIFA a couple of years ago so great potential

2.) 06 Jun 2015 23:57:39
Jonace it was his brother Valon Berisha who was voted best young player

3.) 07 Jun 2015 08:58:16
Your right DN30, that was his older brother but Veton is as much as a talent than his brother. Where Valon is more of an attacking midfielder Veton is a striker. Not a bad one either, and its to bad he has chosen to play for Albaina and not Norway!

4.) 07 Jun 2015 11:28:37
As always thanks Norwegianred we all thought that would be a market he would tap into (y)

5.) 07 Jun 2015 12:16:32
Think it bust proves that Deila's looking for more than a one hit wonder. There is two other strikers scoring a lot more than Veton at this moment, but his physics and his mentallity fits Deila's style perfectly. And more important, he is a free agent, and would not cost that much. Think he could prove to be the right way to go. But he could also be a new Berget. Berget didn't have the best physics and not mentally good enough. He was a great player for Godset, but stopped evolving once he came to Cardiff. Deila took a chance and didn't work out. Think Berisha would be a better option anyway though.

6.) 07 Jun 2015 13:17:39
I always thought berget had some special talent but just seemed to be missing something a shame really! But I don't know anything about this boy berisha but his brother is a cracking player!

7.) 07 Jun 2015 15:20:42
Berget is not a bad player at all, but is more of a bright talent not made it all the way. His time at Celtic was a lot like his time in Godset and so on.

8.) 07 Jun 2015 18:08:54
Yeah the ability was there with some quality touches but just another player reaching their potential!

9.) 07 Jun 2015 18:24:13
Berget couldn't handle the rough and tumble tackling of the Spl . We don't have the highest standard of league but playing in it needs mentally strong players and many quite good players come and fail to make it .

Hey ED007, just wondering a bit on how Ajer is playing and how he is developing? don't hear much about the scottish league in Norway.

Norwegianred

{Ed007's Note - Nice to hear from you 👍 Ajer is developing into a great player for us mate. He had a couple of niggly injuries earlier in the season but seems to be over that and with Benkovic now out injured he's been playing regularly and playing well, he was unlucky not to score against Valencia the other night.
Vidar Riseth had an interview in our press yesterday:

https://goo.gl/NhtNfY

1.) 24 Feb 2019 12:29:35
NorwegianRed the laddie definitely has potential and looks more like a centre half now he’s had his eye socket, nose and/ or jaw and whatever else he’s had broken in Scotland. Good article Ed. Was Ajer not bought as a midfielder?

{Ed007's Note - He was but the plan was was always to move him back to play CB. I remember Ajer himself talking about it when he first came over and saying the coaches in Norway felt he wasn't physically strong enough to play there yet.}

2.) 24 Feb 2019 13:16:45
I can remember Ronny saying he could end up a top class CB when ajer was bought.

3.) 24 Feb 2019 14:35:42
Danny long legs is a brilliant prospect.
He could potentially be the future captain of Celtic.
I am a big fan of Ajer and I can see him playing a big part in the future for both Celtic and Norway.

24 Mar 2018 06:53:58
Ajer was fantastic for Norway, against Australia yesterday. It didn't look mike his debut and was bossing the defence and was dangerous when he carried the ball forward.
Looked like he played there for years.

Norwegianred

1.) 24 Mar 2018 09:12:31
He is a big talent and I am grateful to Deila for bringing him to celtic.

I can see this kid going to the very top as he has the ability and the correct attitude.

2.) 24 Mar 2018 12:13:14
A right back and centre half in the summer and with KT and Ajer and pissibly Hendry, we might avoid getting horsed in Europe. A new keeper too would be great, we can dream. Surely now Brendan realises he has no choice but to bring in players who step right in. Ajer looking more and more Ike the real deal. Another two and domestic domination assured with real hope in Europe.

3.) 24 Mar 2018 13:41:53
Well said RAW Deila deserves enormous credit for bringing him to CP. I hope we tie him down soon because it is now a matter of who plays beside him.

4.) 24 Mar 2018 17:27:59
Two many. Posters jump in, without thinking carefully, Ajer is a perfect example of buying a young lad and spending a couple of years modelling and developing him into the player the manager wants .
Scot Sinclair is a wonderful example of the Manager buying a player who hits the ground running and became player of the season in his first year .
We have bought numerous youngsters and numerous experience players who for whatever reason have failed to become at Celtic the player the manager hoped he would come . There is no set way of buying success but if a club wants a good fully developed player for any position with a decent chance of doing a decent job in Europe the price will start at around £10 m and we don't and won't have many £10 m to hand- out, no matter how confident we are of buying a star for Europe .
We will have to start with players in various stages of development and do our best to bring them on like Ajer . We will need good players coming through every year, so don't worry if they arn't all ready for next season.

5.) 24 Mar 2018 17:50:19
Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there talk of Cristophe Ajer Captaining Norway at the very early age of 16 when RD brought him to Parkhead .?

6.) 24 Mar 2018 19:54:11
Not often do I agree with Chris but he is spot on this occasion I would be happy with the team ww need a gGK but Bain reminds me already of a thinner Artur Boruc he clearly has strong hands and very comfortable with the catch so give him a chance but I would be delighted at blowing our budget on Danny Ward

Then I would wait till Christmas and sign John McGinn, James MacLean and Cedric Kipre all on Bosman"s (Y)

7.) 24 Mar 2018 22:20:35
You should have stopped after Danny ward Jamie Bhoy, Cedric Kipre 😂.

8.) 24 Mar 2018 22:48:24
Kipre would break the sending off records if he signed for us.

9.) 25 Mar 2018 09:21:47
The Sno Man. He was captain for his side Start a few times at the age of 17, and has been captain for his norwegia youth setup sides. He has only played one game for Norway's first team, and looked more a captain than any player.

I said when you signed him that he could become Norways captain for years to come and i think he will.

To be captain at Celtic at the age of 19 is not reasonable, but if he stays with you for a long time, he could be your captain eventually.

10.) 25 Mar 2018 13:53:24
I don't doubt Ajer has all the credentials to make a great captain one day. However, as long as Tierney is there I don't see him doing it at Celtic, as Tierney looks like the natural successor to Brown.

It got sent by a mistake and now i don't remember where i was. 😁 Damn short time memory!

{Ed007's Note - Put the ol down....

1.) 24 Dec 2017 22:08:29
Yeah, i guess your right, mate! Do you celebrate christmas eve or christmas morning in Scotland?

We celebrate tonight, so i might had one single malt to many!

{Ed007's Note - For a lot of people in Scotland it starts around the 22nd of December and finishes on the 3rd of January but for me the festivities started at Mass at 5 pm earlier tonight - I'm on my 4th can of Fanta now!}

2.) 24 Dec 2017 22:32:14
im still celebrating last new year.

{Ed007's Note - You're still $hitting yourself and ranting about the Millennium bug!}

3.) 24 Dec 2017 22:50:22
Haha, fantastic! We got a saying in Norway: Hæla i taket og tenna i veggen: Your heels in the roof and your teeth in the wall, the same as THE ROOF IS ON FIRE. I guess that's what your feeling after 5 fanta's, ED?

{Ed007's Note - I'm fleeing buddy lol We've for a saying over here, Yer Pish is on Fire, it usually occurs a few days after your works Christmas night out and can be cleared up by a course of antibiotics.}

4.) 24 Dec 2017 23:27:34
Haha, we got those here aswell mr Bond! It usually comes with memory loss, when delivering to antibiotics to spouse.

{Ed007's Note - So do you have a 'traditional' Christmas dinner like turkey and brussel sprouts etc or is it more fish kind of stuff?}

5.) 25 Dec 2017 01:14:20
We are a devided people when it comes to christmas food traditions.

My family eats pork ribbs with potatoes and saus. a lot eat stick meat with potatoes, mashed swedish turnip and a lot eat "Lutefisk". Dried Cod soked in lye for days.
And some eat turkey. And we all drink Akevitt to it. :)

{Ed007's Note - I'd give all that a bash apart from turnip - I ate it once (September '79) and spewed my ring so never touched it since - and the Akevitt if it's got alcohol in it, I tried that a couple of times and even though I spewed my ring with that too I still kept necking it!}

6.) 25 Dec 2017 09:18:23
Its all pretty tasty, im not a Lutefisk fan though. I had, like you with the turnip a real bad experience and can't seem to get it to work again.
Yeah, the Akkevitt is the spirits like the italians have with theur Sambucca its a way to eat even more. don't taste as good as Sumbucca, though.

24 Dec 2017 21:44:54
Merry Christmas lads!

I guess its a good time to show my norwegian face on this site again? 😁

So cool to see Ajer getting gametime and doing well. Saw his games for the norwegain u21 against Germany and Irland and it seems he keeps playing as good now at Celtic.
And see him doing it as a CB is pretty insane, he played Striker, CAM and CM at his club he came to Celtic.

Norwegianred

{Ed007's Note - Merry Christmas mate.}

1.) 24 Dec 2017 21:54:52
Thanks mate! Hope everything is good!

{Ed007's Note - All good here buddy.}

2.) 24 Dec 2017 21:55:04
this bhoy could be like sutton was, at his age he's so composed and confident he could play anywhere. good thing for us we need centre halves and i for one am confident he can be the main one.

3.) 24 Dec 2017 22:18:28
Hope so Welsbhoy, he got all the right attributes and since he played in all positions he play against, he reads the oposition so well. Cool to see the fans take a shine to him aswell.

Seem to remember LFC playing a 3-5-2 with Can and Stirling as LWB's? So ITS not a given he will play the formation according to the players and not the other way around. RD did visit Rodgers in his study trips, so the football may not be that different from RD's. Going to be a hell of a ride though. I hope he gets it right even it makes RD look like a failure.

We had the same experience with Rosenborg the year they started to fail. Even if they won the league with ten points, semifinale in the cup they failed to qualify for CL and the whole country started to nag.
Also happening with our national team at the moment. Only winning 2-0 against Finland on a potato pitch in the midst of march, was a total scandale, prices of 10 pounds for a kids ticket and 15 pounds for adults on a day with 3 degrees celcius.
The media will not let it go. This at the same time the NFF had a 3 million budget.

You can say facepalm is a good description of the situation.

Ajer started to play as a CB when he was loaned out to Kilmarnock. Before that he played as a CAM and sometimes a striker. So he hasn't played as a CB more than three odd years and will need time to adjust.
Given two, three years i think he will be class, much because of his mindset and willing to learn.
Norway`s best CB since Ronny Johnsen in my opinion.

Thas not a bad shout Ed007. He made the VÃ¥lerenga academy the best in the country in three seasons and its a real boom in talents been shipped out to clubs abroad.
This is really the best time to scout norwegian youngsters, cause their in another level than before.

I think he could do a sound job with Celtic youngsters.

But which league had all the four finalists in last seasons european contests?
If the PL is a publeauge, the rest of europe must be the grumpy alcoholic selling magazines on the corner to survive?
Is the spanish league better, albeit Barca, Real Madrid (Who's struggeling like United under Moyes) and maybe Atletico who got beaten 2-0 against a midtable La Real?
Or maybe the Italian league with one player under 30 and 33 year old players on 5 year contracts or the german league who besides Dortmund, Bayern is horseheads ahead?

Im not saying PL is so much better than the others, im just pointing out that saying its a publeague is a bit overstating things?
