A former colleague (a Lancashire lad) tells me that although the official reversion for Lambo invoking an exit clause to leave Rovers is that management did not uphold certain promises previously issued, some of the faithful believe he is leaving to go to Celtic. Note that this is only a rumour.

Why does everyone torture themselves (and everyone else who listens to the unsubstantiated rumours) by guessing who will be the new manager? Please have the patience to wait and see what will be revealed. Who knows, it may be saviour or a dud, only time will tell. And no matter what his past record may be, remember Napoleon said, "Don't give me clever generals, give me lucky ones! "

How silly of me to suggest paying Compensation to capture a Manager who could bring us back to the old days of entertaining football. Let's keep the status quo, I. e. Manager who is ruled by the board and let's them influence the team selection, have a dozen or so extra, not fit for purpose senior players who add an extra burden to the wage bill instead of using the funds to attract better players, have a board that don't care about the fans, etc, etc.

I have just joined the foray and must admit it is very entertaining reading the many and various views and rumours regarding Celtic in general and the prospective manager in particular. It would appear that the media, bookies, someone's close friend in a far away country, etc are the information sources and thus, in my opinion, said rumours cannot to regarded as credible. It is my considered opinion (no source involved) , that the powers that be do not have a solid plan, are trying to create a plan which will appease the fans and, as such a plan cannot be achieved without the injection of mucho dinero, are now panicking. Are there any managers on the market who have not been fired, are still effective managers and are interested in taking charge at Celtic? Methinks not, however there is sure to be other opinions.

Are there any Managers interested in the Celtic job who have not Ben fired and are still working?

I believe it would be prudent for the Board to critically exam our scouting and recruiting regime, I. e. why have we recruited so many so called duds? Who recommended them? Who decided they were acceptable and would fit into our method of play? What is our upper limit regarding players v positions? etc, etc.
It is encumbant on the Manager/ Coach to dictate team tactics and method of play, was said Manager/ Coach involved in the critiqueing and recruiting process? Did potential recruits show promise during their trial period? It is accepted that in the best set up some duds will squeeze through but in recent times we appear to have mastered the process of seeking out and recruiting the ordinary, e. g., Cole, Cifti, etc.
OR IS IT THE BOARD THAT IS THE PROBLEM?
I seek the opinions of the better informed than I.

As it is now well established that RD is a first class dud, how could he possibly think that anyone would seriously consider any recommendation coming from him.

That should be a wake up call for the rest of the team, win the league (potentially) but find neither you, nor most of your teammates, have been mentioned as one of the better players in the league. This surely must be motivation for the others to go out and prove themselves. Or am I asking too much?

We have 34 senior players on the books, about 12 too many. If the 12 were sold on or even freed the cost savings could be enough to pay a good manager.

Sorting Celtic FC out is not a simple challenge as the club has been mismanaged for too long. Part of the boards terms of reference is to manage the finances. Paying salaries for 34 senior players is misuse and an overburden on funds, this is a result of buying lots of cheap players who are not fit for purpose. This money could be channeled elsewhere, I. e. to attract better player. Management must offload those who do not fit the Celtic jersey (a la Jock Stein) , trim the playing staff down to a reasonable number (e. g. 22) that a new Manger and the coaching staff can manage. An EGM should be called with the agenda Being a detailed review of the past performance of the Board.
Send RD home with immediate effect, it would be embarrassing to see him receive the League Flag and break open the bubbly.
