Thomas Henry's UK representative has confirmed he wants to join celtic but his club have agreed a fee with gent, if this is true then the ball is in our court to get the deal done quick.

Would love to have him here I think he would be a great signing and a different option up top which we would really need going forward against better teams playing in Europe but I honestly think our transfer business is now dependent on edouard being sold for funds to be made available.

1.) 15 Aug 2021 01:01:30
Jack Henry says he dominated him when he played against him .

2.) 15 Aug 2021 08:15:43
Better no sign him then 🤣.

3.) 15 Aug 2021 08:19:20
I think this deal is contingent on Eddy leaving.

4.) 15 Aug 2021 08:42:35
Not that keen on this guy, I really think we should be trying to bring Nesbitt into our squad. I really don't think we are even trying to bring him in at all, I'm sure it's just paper talk.

5.) 16 Aug 2021 15:29:09
jack hendry couldnae dominate a dominatrix! n he paid fur it tae unlike you n wee timbo who ran away how your ye edo?

11 Aug 2021 12:52:25
New reports now saying that edouard is willing to see out the last year of his deal and leave on a free next summer. Really hope this isn't true, I know deals can go right to the last hour but supposedly brighton made a formal offer last week and there's been no mention of it, 3 weeks left which is still a long while but the last thing we need is an uncommitted player in the dressing room disrupting the rest of the players. If Ange tells him straight and he gives 100 percent then so be it but I think we would all rather take the 15m plus and use it on a replacement and more defenders.

I just hope we continually invest in the squad that is badly needing it.
I'm not an accountant by any means and don't know how the club balance incomings to outgoings but judging by sales this year alone to expenditure we've taken in 28m and spent 14m so far on transfers, I know missing out on the CL money needs to be accounted for but surely Ange will be given that full amount to improve the squad.

MarkM88

1.) 11 Aug 2021 13:47:24
You still have to add wages and agents fees into that 14million which will probly take upto about 20million in total everyone seems to forget about all the hidden extras in deals.

2.) 11 Aug 2021 14:03:09
And clubs can agree a fee but if the buying club don’t meet Eddy’s wage demands then it’s no deal.

3.) 11 Aug 2021 15:46:05
The media are twisting Ange’s words ever so slightly.

4.) 11 Aug 2021 15:46:07
Eddy has went from hero to zero in 18 months and personally I would prefer for him (and his negative energy) to leave in this window.
However, it may be the case that he can sense something good is happening at Celtic and Ange may have had a word in his ear?
Christie seems to have upped his game since pre-season and if Edouard does decide to stay, he will have to get in the queue and earn it.

5.) 11 Aug 2021 16:38:09
In my own opinion the power ultimately lies with the player, he's got a contract and can pick and choose what he wants to do.
I just hope he respects the club enough to realise that we gave him the chance to develop and build his reputation, the best thing for the club is for him to move on and get at least some sort of income.

6.) 11 Aug 2021 18:49:21
If Eddy can produce his best form again then I would love him to stay but only if he signed a new contract otherwise he should go and let us bring in some new faces.

7.) 11 Aug 2021 20:14:51
I agree Marco 18888, respect the club sign a one year deal, prove yourself again and get a move to a bigger club than Brighton one year from now.

8.) 11 Aug 2021 20:19:15
One year extension I should have said!

9.) 11 Aug 2021 21:45:38
If he ups his game to try and win a move but ends up playing well enough in the process it might work out ok. Remember that CL spot at the end of the season.

10.) 11 Aug 2021 23:05:15
If Eddy stays, and runs down his contract, and starts performing, now that his mind has settled on staying, I would rather that, I think a settled Eddy and Kyogi have the makings of a sensational partnership, what would we do with the money, if we sold Eddy for top dollar, buy in a supposedly great mercanery, and then find out that he is not that good, all the while we let talented guys from our youth set up go south or east because they know they will never get a chance in the first team, because we have just spent millions on somebody with an exotic name fro a faraway place, terrible that we let that young Norwegian go to Leeds, when he could have been in our first team last season instead of Duffy.

05 Aug 2021 05:51:46
Again, like any other post I put on this page, I'm not exactly sure how much truth there is in it but I'm hearing discussions with Josh doig of hibs will soon be happening.

We were always going to be linked with him which is understandable and although a new right back and another centre half is more of a priority, I can't help but feel this is an opportunity we should slip through our fingers like Andy Robertson and john mcginn.

I'm not saying the boy is the next kieran tierney I wouldn't want to hype players up but from what I watched last season he's got absolutely everything to be a success and develop at us.
Greg Taylor for me isn't cutting it and I do think doig even at 19 is already a better player.

I seen a good point made in one report, hibs want 5m for him which would be a scottish record fee between 2 clubs, if that was tierney at hibs when he was 19 would you pay the 5m for him.

MarkM88

1.) 05 Aug 2021 07:10:27
Exactly the tyoe of player we need and one in four years or so we sell on for four times thst. We need to stop buying players who come to us and go for nothing because they were never good enough in the first place. £5m would be a lot, but we wasred £10m on Ajeti and Barkas. This is an investment that improves our team and returns our outlay then some when he moves on.

2.) 05 Aug 2021 07:25:03
If £5 million is the fee for doig we should pay it no question. As said above we’ve wasted £5 million on barkas, £5 million on ajeti, we’ve also squandered money on the likes of bayo, shved, bolingoli etc etc, the lists endless. This boy clearly has the talent and if he continues to improve we can only improve on that initial £5 million outlay.

3.) 05 Aug 2021 08:07:19
When the English come sniffing then you know the lad has something, we messed about when Mccarthy was young and he went to England bit like mcginn have we not learned anything, lb is an area we need cover as hopefully boli is away.

4.) 05 Aug 2021 08:18:02
Have the English come sniffing. 5 million down there is peanuts if he was that good he would be away. Is he 5 million pound better than Taylor? Only seen him a couple of times and he didn't impress his cup final performance wasn't even average.
Got told his agent was moaning the price was to high and no one was biting at that price.

5.) 05 Aug 2021 08:53:21
First couple of times I watched Doig I thought this lad is the replacement for Tierney we have been looking for. Sadly I think this lad will go down south Celtic will not pay 5 million for him but they could easily ask for 15m+ in 2-3 years he's a good player me personally If I was in charge of recruitment I would cut a check like yesterday for this lad.

6.) 05 Aug 2021 09:18:12
Think Norwich and Burnley like him, he was left put on Sunday for that very reason and Jack says he's more or less leaving, the whole hibs team were rotten in final, don't think the boy is being judged on that one ggameits on a good season.

7.) 05 Aug 2021 09:40:30
Auf, is he better than Taylor you ask? I’d say he shows more promise than Taylor. Let’s be honest and I know Taylor gets it stinking at times, but for one is Taylor a Celtic no1 choice LB? Not for me, and if folk disagree that’s fine, if nothing else doig would push Taylor…… Taylor has no competition at LB. bolingoli is rotten and after last years antics should never be near a Celtic top again.

8.) 05 Aug 2021 10:21:23
Garryc
I asked if he's 5 million puund worth better than Taylor. Taylor isn't the long term solution but if Celtic is paying 5million your hoping he's head and shoulders above what he's replacing.
Agree can't judge the boy on cup final performance. I've not seen a lot of him. So will bow to the boys who have watched him.

9.) 05 Aug 2021 11:06:18
Being from just outside Edinburgh I've got a lot off Hibs mates and they all rave about him, I can't personally comment myself as I've hardly seen the lad play but he's getting good reviews and getting linked to clubs so must be something about him.

10.) 05 Aug 2021 11:39:54
Be great to get the young guy in. He has pace and is developing every year. Remember this is the lad that frimpong gave a nightmare to in the friendly last year and was taken off at half time. Then the young lad goes on to win the young player of the year. Not that serious strong mental and great work mentality to clearly developing his weakness. The lad is only going to get better and better. Hopefully celtic get him in.

11.) 05 Aug 2021 12:13:08
Celtic need to get a first choice left back in soon, if we want to compete for the title.
Taylor is a good defender and is decent backup but we need more in attack from our fullbacks.
Since mid December ( before winning Quadruple Treble ) Taylor has played 20 games for Celtic and has only ONE assist, it’s nowhere near good enough.
Celtic have scored 40 goals in these matches and ONE assist is a brutal return.

12.) 05 Aug 2021 12:14:16
Josh Doing is head and shoulders above Taylor and Bolongoli. As for Tierney at 19, yes he was worth 7 million at least from what I recall. Doing is developing at a good rate as he had a good few mistakes in him at first but is smoothng out into a very decent LB.

Come on BIG ANGE. Get him in.

13.) 05 Aug 2021 14:09:52
Have got a terrific idea, why don't we let an English buy him just now, then next season we can try and buy him for five times as much, just like we were doing with Hickey, supposedly.

14.) 05 Aug 2021 14:14:51
Couldn't agree more on the comments, I think when you weigh everything up especially based on last season when he played consistently, a 5m outlay is worth the risk. He's not the finished article by any means, I firmly believe he's got another good season of proper development to improve even more aspects of his game, but if he was in our squad I think he would develop rapidly.

We really can't afford good scottish talent to slip through our fingers, peter lawwell wouldn't pay the extra 500k for mcginn until it was too late and he went to villa for an absolute bargain, same with Robertson to hull at the time, I think the bigger English clubs only really take notice when these players are doing it down south at the more so average clubs before they make a move unless of course it's someone like tierney who did it with us.

Bottom line is, will doig improve us going forward in the long run and is he better than what we have? I think we all know the answer to that one.
The good thing is we can possibly offer hibs a player plus cash deal if they're open to it to reduce the 5m fee being mentioned.

15.) 05 Aug 2021 15:00:43
Give them Johnstone and Henderson.

16.) 05 Aug 2021 15:12:41
Get Kevin Nisbet signed as well, offer them Griff, Henderson and Hazard as makeweights plus £6m for both of them 🍀.

03 Aug 2021 13:24:14
I'm not sure if there's much truth to this but seen one report linking chelsea centre back matt miazga with us.
He's been one of the many players that's been sent out on loan with different clubs but from what I gather he's been fairly dominant and is consistent with playing games etc.
6ft 3, 26 years old with over 20 caps for the US national team, valued at 3m. Surely something worth exploring giving our defensive situation, worth a punt in my opinion.

MarkM88

1.) 03 Aug 2021 13:34:35
I remember thinking about him when he was out on loan at Vitesse who Chelsea seem loan a lot of players to. Was impressive. Haven't seen much of him since apart from bits at Reading but having just played regularly for Anderlecht he must be half decent still. For the cost he could be a great addition to the squad and possibly even partner Starfelt?

2.) 03 Aug 2021 13:38:01
Mark we definitely need another 1st choice CB to pair with Starfelt.

3.) 03 Aug 2021 15:57:24
Have to say l liked what l saw from starfelt. Ya he got caught out for the first goal but he was covering for taylor all day who was constantly out of position. The first goal was a prime example. But fully agree with need another quality CB to join him a form a solid partnership. Get Hart in behind them and then get in a LB as taylor is no where near good enough.

4.) 03 Aug 2021 17:03:14
Thrown in at the deep end Ter, Starfelt will be fine.

Agree he needs a solid partner at CB, preferably someone big and a couple of full backs to get the ball into Diego Costa upfront 😄.

5.) 03 Aug 2021 17:05:49
Ter161, I will give Starfelt time but against hearts I thought he was very poor, as I said I'll give him time and don't think people can have a full opinion until the window is shut and we know are strongest eleven.

6.) 03 Aug 2021 17:12:00
Stop it will you Pedro 😂 We can all hope lol.

7.) 03 Aug 2021 17:18:48
DD, get your wallet out.

8.) 03 Aug 2021 17:24:11
Agree pedro about Costa. Nice quite guy up front for the Derby matches. Couldn't see anything go wrong what so ever. Cmc l don't agree that starfelt was very poor but we all have a different opinion. He had no help whatsoever with him.

9.) 03 Aug 2021 17:36:18
Ter, he'd score 50 up here before Christmas, which is just as well as he'd be banned from New Year to the end of May 😆😂🤣.

10.) 03 Aug 2021 18:04:38
I had him suspended after the Derby in Dec pedro 🤣🤣🤣. Could u just imagine him here playing for celtic! 🤤🥳💣.

11.) 03 Aug 2021 21:53:12
MSM would be doing cartwheels.

13 Jun 2021 13:37:19
Nothing new but that's a good few sources now I've seen that ajer, christie, ntcham and edouard will definetely be off this transfer window with a year left on their contracts.

I've also heard that we're going to trigger the 1 year extension on Griffiths contract, I feel personally though he's had his chance and it's time for him to pack his bags. Some might disagree and say it's worth keeping a proven goalscorer in the midst of a big rebuild but there's only so many chances you can give a man and for me he's had too many, he's let the club down, the fans down and himself down and times for a fresh start.

Last season was a disgrace and for all the trophies won previous to that I don't think there sheer lack of commitment and effort in going for 10 in a row can honestly be forgiven. Out of the whole squad I can safely say in my own opinion there should only be 7 names worth keeping,
Jullien, Welsh, taylor, soro, mcgregor, turnbull and Forrest.

I have zero faith in any of the goalkeepers so that should be our very first signing whilst looking to replace the deadwood that is there.

I know some will argue mcgregor was terrible but i honestly think he was let down with the players next to him (brown, ntcham, christie) and was caught trying to do too many jobs but the level of consistency he's shown the past few years means he's a vital part of a rebuild, the rest of them either aren't good enough or simply don't want to be there.

MarkM88

1.) 13 Jun 2021 14:01:37
I have also heard McGregor has wanted a move since last summer and still hopes to move on. For me, Jullien has missed far too many games since he arrived and is not tough enough physically or mentally IMO. Turnbull, Taylor, Soro, Forrest, Welsh were the only players willing to stay that showed any kind of form in a torrid season and maybe Bayo deserves a chance to prove himself?
Griff has shot his bolt and we will never a 40 goal season ever again and his fitness and discipline issues are too much baggage.
I think Bitton and Rogic are at the end of their Celtic career, although Ange may want to persevere with his fellow Aussie?
To put it bluntly, we need a clear-out and complete overhaul to exorcise the ghosts of last season and start afresh.

2.) 13 Jun 2021 14:41:27
Jullien wanted to leave last summer as well and isn't consistent enough for me. He's had some good games but isn't tough enough so would let him go if we can recoup what we paid for him.

3.) 13 Jun 2021 15:05:00
Well if true and these rumours are always a bit sketchy for me. and if the club hierarchy knew why keep them, is it a coincidence most were rotten all season, no idea but surely professional pride and dreams of a big move would drive them o, or maybe the rumours are mince and they had a bad season.

4.) 13 Jun 2021 15:39:47
I think Jullien splits opinion with fans and there's no doubt he's had a good few shaky performances especially when it's been against a physical centre forward but I do feel it would be harsh to completely right him off, he got a sore one with his injury which wouldn't even have happened if barkas had dealt with it so last season he really couldn't be judged on.
Prior to that I think his first season he showed us enough that with a bit more focus and consistency he can be a top defender, he was solid in the European games and most of them in the league and realistically is the only out and out defender who can actually defend so for me he deserves another chance.

As much as rogic might know this new manager and up his game I just feel his best days are behind him and we could be doing without someone who struggles to last 90 minutes most of the time, as for bayo I don't think he should be written off just yet it's hard to judge a player when most of their appearances are from the bench.

That's the one thing I never understood with Lennon, he never gave players a chance to get a run in the team and build confidence, he was too quick to judge and stick to his favourites and old ways of playing that in the end came back to bite us in the backside.

5.) 13 Jun 2021 17:59:54
Watching Austria v North Macedonia and the big Macedonian centre back Velkovski is exactly what we need in the middle of our defence, bi, strong, hard as nails and clears everything that come into their box .

Ed 😂😂.

7.) 14 Jun 2021 07:41:10
Duffy?

8.) 14 Jun 2021 08:17:34
If we could get our money back on jullien I’d happily let him go. As for griffiths, I’m a huge fan of his but he’s definitely let himself and the club down over the last year or so, and I do appreciate he has personal issues, for me if he can look ange straight in the eye and say I’m ready, I won’t let u down, I’d give him a year to prove it. A fully fit, fully focused, and fully committed griffiths would be in my team every week, but he MUST be those 3 things. If I’m his heart of hearts he can’t be those 3 things he has to move on.

9.) 14 Jun 2021 16:50:47
Agree with you garry but we needed that leigh griffiths this time last year in a time of need when we were going for the 10 but it's too late now and it's the start of a new era.
There's only so many chances you can give a player and for me his has ran out despite that fact we're in the midst of a complete overhaul, I think most fans would be open to the possibility of using him as part of a deal to bring nisbet from hibs to parkhead.

10.) 15 Jun 2021 19:13:01
We let Griff go and we have feck all. What we have are worse than Dykes, and he's tragic. Hopefully we keep him and Ange can get him on track. No way should we let him go.

Seen we've now been linked with a 7m move for Thomas Henry as edouards replacement. Don't know much about him but according to his Wikipedia he seems pretty interesting. 6ft 4, "He plays as a striker and enjoys listening to the wolfetones while drawing unflattering pictures of Kris Boyds angry face".

MarkM88

1.) 10 Aug 2021 07:12:36
Haven't seen the boy play, he has scored 41 in 71 games, 21 goals last season for a team that finished 11th in the Belgium top flight.

19 Apr 2021 18:05:15
I've heard frank lampards name been mentioned a few times recently, was just wondering what everyone's opinions are?

For me I actually think he could be a good appointment, we're on the verge of a complete overhaul this summer and we need better quality players to come in, and I honestly think the only way we increase our chances of landing better players is by having a good selling point.

As much as I didn't like the way rodgers left, when he arrived he was seen as a top class coach which enabled the likes of dembele and sinclair to sign, I feel having someone of lampards calibre of building a new team looking to dominate once more would be seen as a very attractive opposition.

He might have had some poor periods as Chelsea manager but ultimately I don't think he was given enough time, he done well with derby before that though and he fits our strategy of working and bringing along younger talent to the first team. Just a thought.

MarkM88

1.) 19 Apr 2021 20:11:49
Mark, I can't see Lampard being a viable option due to the fact he's got a young family in London.

Other than that I like Frank and think he's made a good start to his coaching career - the Chelsea job came far too soon but he was never going to knock it back.

2.) 19 Apr 2021 21:49:44
I think he done very well at Chelsea, he got them back in the champions league whilst under a transfer ban. Brought through a few good young players.

23 Nov 2020 14:30:40
Seen that Gordon strachans name has now been thrown into the mix as a sort of "save our season" to replace Lennon. Supposedly he's still in good contact with lawwell and Desmond and having his son on the coaching team seems to be where the link is coming from.

Not sure how to feel about it all to be honest, when Lennons been out slating his team then I think it's a clear sign he's lost the dressing room, god I really hope we turn this season around.

MarkM88

1.) 23 Nov 2020 15:23:37
He'd do if he was taking over immediately until a permanent manager was appointed. I've a bad feeling Lennon is here to stay though. There hasn't even been the dreaded vote of confidence.

2.) 23 Nov 2020 15:35:37
I think WGS could be a good hand on Neils shoulder as a short term solution. He’s a motivator and can set up a team and played and managed at the highest level and is more than fit for the Steven Gerard fan club aka the MSSM.

His reference to ‘we’ in a any comment relating to Celtic doesn’t do any harm either. It’s worth a punt for me. It’s potentiality too risky bringing in a new manager at this stage yet Neil evidently needs support. WGS is an old head and could provide that support to steady the ship.

It’s a good all round solution for me. The first thing that needs done is call out those who don’t want to be here and hunt them. No matter who they are. ‘The best thing about becoming the Celtic manager was that I got to know Tommy Burns as a friend’. WGS just might add that wee bit of stability and grey hair that’s needed at the moment.

3.) 23 Nov 2020 15:46:07
I said 'never-go-back', when NL was appointed as it rarely works out and I would say the same for WGS - although with Lawell, it's always the easier (cheaper) option and it wouldn't surprise me.
These players need a 'new broom' to sweep away cobwebs, clean up a few attitudes and brush-up on fitness, tactics and confidence.

4.) 23 Nov 2020 17:48:58
100% agree Celtic_mad.

22 Nov 2020 13:33:38
Seen on here that dean Henderson got mentioned as a possible loan, personally think it's rubbish and we would have no chance getting him anyway.
Seen however that utd want to sell sergio romero and willing to accept around 2.5m, surely worth a punt considering our current goalkeeping options.
Probably no chance he would want to come up here but think it would be definelty worth looking at.

MarkM88

1.) 24 Nov 2020 12:09:48
are you wanting him signed because he plays for man u. he has played 7 league games for them in 5 year.

17 Oct 2020 14:34:24
Absolutely pathetic and embarrassing performance, totally ashamed. Before anyone jumps on the bandwagon with the "it's early days the league isn't won in October" this is a whole lot bigger.

To me, Lennon has got to walk. His man management is dreadful and it seems he's lost the dressing room, he's been back 18 months, 3 teams have embarrassed us at home in Europe due to his tactics and i can't recall a celtic v rangers game we have had control of since his return. Freak results can happen, but when it's 3 times with the likes of cluj, copenhagen, then ferencvaros, enough is enough.

Lazio were far better than us both games and we got very lucky with 2 injury time winners, they weren't great performances by us and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to take the specs off.
As for the rangers games, his first one when Forrest got the winner was a mistake by rangers and they played us off the park with 10 men.
Even the 2-0 game at ibrox we were poor and there was absolutely no urgency to the performances and the cup final last season somes it up.

Getting rid of him into this season might be a mistake as it will unsettle the squad but kiss goodbye to 10 in a row as long as he's in charge, the best we can hope for is rangers make there own mistakes because we aren't going to win the league based on our own performances.

Lennon out!

MarkM88

1.) 17 Oct 2020 15:27:50
interesting, ps I agree on lazio points. played off park twice

That is WHY we should focus on quality of performances, and in that regard or respect, he should go.

Yes it is a percentage and 1.2m would be correct of we received 12m for him. According to several reports PSG inserted a 40% sell on fee between the amount we paid and whatever we sell him for.
In that case we paid 9m and receive 12m leaving 3m profit, 40% would be 1.2m which would then be due to PSG.

Don't feel convinced by this if I'm honest, might be a good young player but it's not what we need at the moment. We need defenders in with a decent level of experience who can handle expectation especially against better teams in Europe.
The thing that worries me with the targets that have been mentioned are that they all seem to be on the small stature side, this young boy, the creation and buta, none of them are above 5 ft 8.
This might week well in an attacking sense but I've always had the concept that defenders are there to defend first and attack second. Even starfelt is only 6ft 1 which isn't the biggest for a centre half and this Japanese boy we've been linked with is the same.
We all know how bad we were with set pieces last season but if we play against better teams and deal with crossed balls into the box it doesn't bode well if they're that small trying to defend them.

In my own opinion the power ultimately lies with the player, he's got a contract and can pick and choose what he wants to do.
I just hope he respects the club enough to realise that we gave him the chance to develop and build his reputation, the best thing for the club is for him to move on and get at least some sort of income.

I do agree any transfer money received should go straight back into the squad but other losses need to be accounted for if we are to remain stable.
It's the boards fault we've missed out on 100m plus over the past 3 or 4 seasons due to sheer incompetence and lack of planning ahead to have a team capable of making it.
With the C.V. also affecting income the past 12 months and us already out the CL at the first hurdle I can't see us spending the whole amount we receive for edouard, hope I'm wrong though.

Take the 18-20m for edouard and reinvest it straight back into the squad, possibly breaking our transfer record for a striker.

2 strikers who I've been really impressed with, jean pierre nsame of young boys fc and bruno petkovic of dinamo zagreb.

Nsame is out with a serious injury so it's a non starter but petkovic is an absolute beast and exactly what we should be going after, apparently valued close to 10m and at 26 Would be a steal.
Also really like the look of sparta pragues david hancko.
Left footed centre back who can also play left back and again is at a decent age of 23, actually scored against us last season and is valued at 4m.
Would love for us to also go for Josh doig but a right back is the main priority first.
