How about a fun Friday day question?

Lennon's Top 5 transfers compared with Lennon's worst 5 transfers?

Let voting commence!

1.) Not counting loans.

Mulgrew (tough one between him and Matthews)

Lujnberg (sp)
Moyokolo (by the looks of it)

This is just off the top of my head, may have missed a couple

2.) Top 5 . 1 wanyama. 2 hooper. 3 matthews. 4 ledley. 5 commons. worst 5 . 1 bangura. 2 blackman. 3.lassad. 4 miku. 5 ambrose(so far). best signing of all was john park . bhoywonder

3.) BEST
1. Wanyama
2. Commons
3. Ledley
4. Matthews
5. Mulgrew

1. Cha
2. Kapo
3. Murphy
4. Miku
5. Ljungberg

4.) Bit surprised big Forster is not in anyone's top 5 so far

Ice man

5.) Best
1. Wanyama
2. Ledley
3. Hooper
4. Commons
5. Matthews (only because he's great in one position, unlike Chico Mulgrew who's a jack of all, master of nowt).

1. Bangura
2. Murphy
3. Lassad
4. Blackman
5. If I have to pick 5 it's probably Miku but I still think (like Ed) that he was forced on Lenny.

6.) In no order

Wanyama, Lustig, Commons, Hooper, Ledley

Majstorovic, Juarez, Murphy, Ljungberg, Ambrose

7.) Best

8.) Bit harsh on Cha

9.) Foster is and should be in everyone's picks, maybe no big need in the league all that much but in cl he stood on his head to help us go far.

10.) 1. Wanyama
2. Forster
3. Commons
4. Ledley
5. Matthews

1. Blackman
2. Ljunberg
3. Kapo
4. Lassad
5. Bangura

11.) Hey everyone should stop with the ljunberg rubbish,, he was a great player and he was never play that much to show how good he was .

12.) Can't believe some of you have Ambrose. Ever since the Juventus game people have been going on about how dreadful he is. He was fantastic in every CL group game and we desperately could have used him in the Karagandy away game. Ok he has his shaky moments but overall he's been a good signing who wins more than his fair share of aerial balls.

13.) 1.Wanyama
2. Hooper
4. Ledley
5. Commons

2. Miku
3. Lassad
4. Juarez
5. Ibrahim

14.) Kevbhoy your 100% right he's been brilliant, people need to give him a break and it wasnt his decision to play in the juve game it was Lenny, Btw every leave Cha alone he was a solid right back, never got a chance due to Hinkel

15.) I have seen 2 posts that say about Forster. I hope you mean amongst the worst signings. The guy is a liability, let's take away a few decent saves last year in the CL against the amount of goals he has cost us by being a 6"7 coward. He can't take a high ball, he isn't commanding, his distribution is awful and the list goes on. It is no coincidence that every defensive partnership we have had has looked shaky, the common denominator is Forster. So to add my top 5. best, Ledley, Matthews, Commons, Stokes, Lustig and the worst, Murphy, Lassad, Lassad, Miku, FORSTER.

16.) Best SO FAR-Ledley, Hooper, Waynama, Commons, Matthews, sorry Mulgrew, Foster & Lustig. Worst- Murphy, Juarez, Broznek, Miku, Cha. Chris30

First time poster bhoys.

Do you think we will sign any of these free agents that have been banded about? Better question, do you think we need any freebies, bearing in mind that these guys are struggling to get a contract anywhere?

Personally I think the new signings should be given time to settle, only areas of concern are perhaps left back and for another striker now that Tony has left. Although Bang Bang Bangura's loan ends shortly. {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site Kevy.}

1.) I think that we should give the new guys time to settle but feel that we do need cover in a couple of positions and think some of the guys that are available would help. Maybe on short term contracts that would suit the club and player to put them back in the window . First time poster. HH

2.) Our second tier lads who beat the Liverpool first 11 (previously undefeated in their full pre season) need a fair run out. Secondly, a Bhoy in the shirt is a Bhoy in the shirt and we need to get behind ALL the new bhoys and give them a warm welcome and our fullest support.
Hail hail.

3.) They'll only buy players if they're good enough and they're needed. wait and trust the board :)

4.) We are still short big Style in the Centre half position and left back. We still don't know if we have a player that will fill the void left by Hooper's departure.

5.) Realy don't see the point in signing anybody on a free if they can't play in Europe, the squad we have should walk the SPL backed up by youth, perfect chance to blood the youth. If we ain't gony bother ditch lennoxtown there's no need for it.

6.) "Wait and trust the board "somebody is having a laugh or has PL been posting on here too?? this is the same guy that has joined the SFA and yet can't wait to take Celtic to the EPL

7.) I'd take Bang Bang back into the squad in a heartbeat. All that fluster is over with. You have to noise up at the time, of course you do, but its what's best for the club that's important. He could score against AC or Barca for us, that's how to look at it.

8.) Cheers Ed

I think judging by the size of the squad injuries could give us a major headache and although I agree with sending Irvine and Watt out on loan to gain some experience, I was hoping to see something from these Bhoys this season. I really hope Balde can step up to the mark as we have been lacking a big target man since Sutton/Hartson (Killen and Murphy tried and failed horribly). From Youtube, Pukki looks excellent, but i'm sure I could collate videos of me playing 5's and make myself look like Zinedine Zidane!

Does Bangura come back from Loan in December? If so do you think he deserves another shot? Frankly his ssn interview before the match left a lot of questions about his feelings for the hoops.

9.) To be honest i'd take back bang bang also. I really want to see what he can bring to the team. I don't see broony having a problem with him an di think he'd be desperate to show us what he can do (if he wants to earn a place in team OR earn a permanent move to another team)
thought in the CL game he was ok. Not great but certainly looked to cause defenders problems. @jockdj83

10.) I think Bangura will leave in January or sooner if his contract is torn up.
He has been papped out on loan twice and is clearly not in the managers plans and I don't think he feels wanted by the club.

11.) I can't see Bangura coming back to the team at all. Remember how raging Lenny was when he decides to play against us, and I think the squad would have similar feelings towards him! Personally I think he disrespected the club in a way in which he can't be reinstated. I think he's ruined his Celtic career, if his footballing talent hadn't done that already .

For a wee change of scenery, I was up at Pittodrie for the Aberdeen vs Stenny game yesterday. How Scott McKenna has a £10m price tag is baffling. Watching him up close, he isn't the quickest and was at fault for Stenny's goal. Personally I don't think that he is at the levels we require.

1.) 20 Jan 2019 16:12:51
Couldn't agree more. He is vastly over rated and turns like an oil tanker.

2.) 20 Jan 2019 16:49:19
He's fecking rotten.

3.) 20 Jan 2019 17:25:11
Funnily enough RAW I said that he should be nicknamed UHT for how long it takes him to turn.

He may be one of the best centre backs from outside Celtic, but personally he’s just not for me.

If we're even considering McKenna, our scouting system is all to feck.

6.) 20 Jan 2019 20:28:21
McKenna is no better than ajer simunovic or Hendry. I'd prefer to see ajer in cm. Think his power in the holding role would be an asset. Plus the additional height in cm might improve our woeful set pieces by providing another option.

7.) 20 Jan 2019 23:26:34
Rather pay the extra and get Benkovic permanent.

Hi Ed,

I know this will likely be paper nonsense, but given our financial position and Brendan's continued comments on "adding real quality" to the team, is Craig Dawson a realistic signing?

I can't see us forking out £15m - £20m on a single player personally and whilst I think he is a fine player, the over inflation within the premiership means we could likely get a player of similar quality for less money on the continent.

{Ed007's Note - We won't be signing Craig Dawson.}

1.) 01 Aug 2018 12:05:06
Tell me this Denayer rumour isn’t true ED? It’s the same old Shoite every bloody transfer window! Do our scouts actually look at any other centre half’s! The guy slated Scottish football when he left, and has done f*uck all since!

{Ed007's Note - I don't believe there's anything in it, the player doesn't rate Scottish football so why would he want to come back IF we did want him?}

2.) 01 Aug 2018 12:52:02
Ur probably rite mate, just shoite! Just makes me think if true what our scouts are up to! Surely to god they can narrow down a list of centre backs who wouldn’t cost the earth! Frustrating is an understatement mate. really is like Groundhog Day every transfer window! And u can tell a mile away that it’s pissing the manager off!

{Ed007's Note - I've said for months I don't expect a CB to come in unless one or more leave, how many CBs can one club have? I've really not seen anything to suggest that Rodgers is pissed off except supporters assumptions.

"The club have had a very clear structure of how they work. These last couple of years have been great years for us. I have got no reason not to ever believe that club don’t want that either. They have supported me extremely well since I have been up here. There is not a huge reforming that needs doing.

I can understand the supporters’ perspective.

The modern game now is very much about signings and lots of signings. But I think our supporters will probably be thankful that we have continuity. We’ve got a core that really connect to how we work but we have to bring in quality.

Now that’s then what goes over to the club, and then the club will look to then do their best, which I believe they are, their very best, to get the level of quality that we need in and that’s going to help us improve because that’s what’s important."

So do fans just want signings for signings sake, spending on fees etc, adding more to the wagebill and adding to the EIGHT players in the squad we have who can play as a CB?}

3.) 01 Aug 2018 12:59:02
Lh86 since leaving Celtic denayer has played champions league football and won the league and a cup in Turkey. So to say he's done nothing in wrong.
Ye he slated Scottish football but maybe he's grown up a bit since then. A lot of player realise their mistake after leaving Celtic.
I know we tried for him last window late on so could be some truth we are looking again.
Would he make the squad stronger?
For me yes because he'd be a better option than Compper.
Would he make first team better if everyone fit?
Am not so sure.

4.) 01 Aug 2018 13:33:08
U say there’s 8 players who can play centre half and how many do a club need. how many out of that lot would u trust in the C.L. groups? I’ve said before, Ajer is the only one that we can truly rely on and he’s the youngest out the lot! If a team continually loses lots of goals in a certain competition, in this case the C. L. then how can u stick with the same defence?

5.) 01 Aug 2018 14:57:10
It's unavoidable though. If we have our CBs and Rodgers and board thinks we have enough then fine.

Or when our defence is clearly not up to level, then something needs acted upon.

If we have too many CBs on the wage bill who aren't pulling their weight then that's the boards job to sort this.

We as fans shouldn't be expected to just sit back and be silent if the quality isn't up to standard.

Boyata, Compper, Simunovic, Hendry. Could punt them all and play Biton and the results this season won't change too much. That's how bad it's got.

6.) 01 Aug 2018 15:36:54
Lh86 see the teams that are taking goals of us they are also taking serious goals of everyone else including teams that have defences that are meant to be worth 100s of millions.
Twice last year Bayern took 5 off arsenal
Year before that
Barca took 6 off PSG
Psg scored 5 off barca
Real took 4 off juve
We could spent 50million on the defence and these results would still happen.
Or we could have effe ambrose at CB and beat Barca.

7.) 02 Aug 2018 09:44:10
All good points kev, and I get where your coming from. i just think us as a club never give ourselves the best opportunity to one try and qualify, and 2 try and give it as good a go as we could when we get there! And what about when a bang average zenit team took 3 off us and Astana put 4 past us? I’m not silly enough to sit and suggest we can compete with the big boys who spend ludicrous amounts of money year after year but I also refuse to believe that we can’t give a better showing when we play these guys! We’ve done it in the past with a back line of telfer McManus Caldwell and naylor for god sake! Lol.

8.) 02 Aug 2018 23:13:01
The defensive part of our team is far greater that the individual defenders, we need to buy a very good defender to improve our defence . We may also need to change the positioning of our midfielders.
Moving midfielders back to help defense, destroys our overall play as Celtic are better as an attacking team.

26 Apr 2018 01:23:33
Ed, have you heard anything about Musonda leaving? He's deleted anything Celtic related from his Instagram account, which I believe he's done for other teams in the past when he has spat the dummy. Maybe looking too much into it, but rumours are doing the rounds on social media.

If so it's a real shame, I was extremely excited when we signed him as I thought he could genuinely add something that little bit different.

{Ed007's Note - What's instagram? When has Musonda 'spat the dummy' before?}

1.) 26 Apr 2018 11:26:22
Hi Ed

Is there any true that Gerrard is close to being appointed manager by the huns. He is a celtic supporter.

{Ed007's Note - I've already answered this elsewhere.}

2.) 26 Apr 2018 11:34:38
Not sure if Gerrard is going to them or not but what has it got to do with it who he supports?

3.) 26 Apr 2018 15:26:27
I heard from a sevco fan he says that stevie g and Neil Warnock are going to pair up as Neil number 1 and Stevie as number two.

{Ed007's Note - No.1 and a No.2 - that's pish and $hit together then? How funny would it be if they hired a manager who's nickname - it's an anagram of his name - is Colin Wanker?}

4.) 26 Apr 2018 18:28:26
Thought Gerrard was an Everton fan? Anyway; as a practicing catholic, he will be as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit, by the bigot faction.

{Ed007's Note - Not that it matters but I don't think Gerrard is a Catholic, there's something in his book about how he ended up at a Catholic school because it had a better sports department or program, something like that.}

5.) 26 Apr 2018 18:32:25
Ed, apparently Nike have taken control over his social media accounts, so they took anything to do with New Balance off lol panic over nothing!

The spitting the dummy out reference, was due to him deleting most of the Chelsea players/ staff when he came to us on loan.

{Ed007's Note - I'm sure it's his family or someone on the payroll that runs his social media accounts.}

6.) 26 Apr 2018 19:25:19
Kris Commons as his Number two Ed 😝.

{Ed007's Note - :-D

7.) 26 Apr 2018 22:21:36
How would deleting Chelsea players when coming here for 18 mths be spitting out the dummy .
I will judge him on minutes played, goals scored and goals assisted, I think social media will remain social media and not a source of malicious rumour .
If any idiot thinks that the Celtic club would allow a worthwhile rumour about a players unrest to surface 100 hrs before Rangers 2012 match
Believe you me there are one or two at least at Celtic who have a brain.

8.) 27 Apr 2018 09:21:14
On FF they are claiming that Stevie G’s dad was the top man at a Liverpool Orange Lodge. For some on there that’s enough. I rubbish you not. :)

22 Feb 2018 21:37:10
Bloody hell, one poor game and the overreaction on here has been nothing but ridiculous. “When are we going to win again”, “get rid of 80% of the team”, “title race is back on”

Away and give yourselves a shake. Celtic will only get better when our injuries have eased and we will lay down a marker to Aberdeen and Sevco over the next couple of weeks. Keep the faith Bhoys and Ghirls.

1.) 22 Feb 2018 22:06:16
One bad game? did you just start watching Celtic tonight?

You seriously think we have only had 1 bad game in Europe this season?

Astana put 4 past us lol, they are terrible as well. We have barely been good domestically since like November.

Still win the league but too many Celtic fans just can't see Celtic criticised, embarrassing tbh.

2.) 22 Feb 2018 22:55:20
Where did I say that was our first bad game in Europe this season? My post was in direct response to some of the drivel that has been written tonight.

I've watched some absolutely dung Celtic teams in my life and grew up when Sevco were winning absolutely everything. I have no reservations about criticising the squad in general when its due. Tonight Celtic were poor defensively, Lustig is on his last legs and has been very poor all season, Simo wasn't great and the keeper is a donkey. But the panic merchants who have to have an instant reaction to the squad and season overall, based on this one game are a joke. Quotes like I don't know where the next win is coming from is a massive kneejerk reaction to tonights game.

3.) 23 Feb 2018 00:12:54
Artmedia Bratislava that was a terrible game and poor result. Just take it into consideration we are punching above our financial weight on occasion we turn up and make it a fight but we need the team to do this more consistently. I am sure we will learn and grow from this campaign. Tonight we just didn't turn up but when we do we are a good team and can give most teams a game.

{Ed007's Note - I said something similar about consistency, especially in Europe, but it's been a bit of a problem all season. Hopefully with players coming back from injury and less frequent games we can get back to playing the football we know we're capable of. Tonight we were as poor as we were good last week.}

31 Jan 2018 10:01:12
Thoughts from last night. I was really impressed by Edouard. I think he gets a bit of grief on here, but for me his hold up play is very good. He maybe could have done better with a couple of his chances, but I would be more worried if he couldn't get into the space to get the chances. I think he is better playing off the striker than as an out and out striker.
Not worth £7m imho, but I reckon a deal for £3m-£4m would be a good bit of business.

1.) 31 Jan 2018 10:27:40
The one that impressed me the most last night was Kouassi.

2.) 31 Jan 2018 10:56:48
Agree with Kouassi Kev, he looked very composed on the ball. Originally I would have liked him to go on loan in the SPL for some game time, but I like the option of him and Broony in centre mid with Ntcham attacking central mid. Gives us a good bit of strength in the middle of the park for when we play hatchet mobs like Motherwell.

3.) 31 Jan 2018 11:23:50
He has had a bit of grief Kev. But so did Ntcham, so did Dembele, and so on. Sometimes people are far too quick to get on the back of a young lad moving home, culture, language. And that's even before the footballing elements come into it. IF he continues to play the way he is, puts in a good performance against Zenit, then I think he'd be worth the 7m. Especially looking at what some clubs are paying for certain players. Sometimes you have to keep up with the Joneses a little bit. We're alright demanding 20-30m for Dembele, in that sense, from what I've seen so far, Edouard would be worth the 7m. The end of the season would give us all a clearer picture though.

4.) 31 Jan 2018 11:27:36
I agree stuff sending him out. Play him every week. Him and Brown would stroll through every midfield battle in Scotland.

5.) 31 Jan 2018 11:28:44
Ajar impressed me. Dembele was better too.

he has to be a troll 😂 Benkovic is a fantastic signing and hopefully will bring the best out of Jozo as well. 4 solid centre halves in the squad, until big Starvin Marvin comes in and plays a sweeper as part of a one man defence. Solid.

JFP I read that statistic the other day, 4 games with 2 draws and 2 losses. Remarkable job he’s done at Kilmarnock. Also read that in the last 38 games killie have 75 points to our 78. Although his football isn’t great, have to give credit where credit is due. So now the niceties are out of the way, let’s bloody stick 8 past them!

Totally agree with Aindoh and Kev, we haven’t unearthed a “gem” since Rodgers came in. Our scouting network seems confined to premiership u21 loans, championship or SPL signings. Where are the obscure signings like Kayal, Wanyama, Izaguirre (when he initially signed) , etc. There are plenty of leagues we can tap into to get good quality players outside of the UK.
