Just wondering what people here think about ex players coming back to Celtic in general? With the likes of ki or mcgeady maybe looking to move from their current clubs. I'm not sure.

Very rarely works out to in my opinion. Would have mcgeady back anyway.

Off the top of my head; Charlie Nicholas, Andy Walker, Frank MacAvennie and Shaun Maloney had fairly average returns after their initial spell in the Hoops. - Although Bertie Auld did excel in his second period and became a legend.
It would seem difficult to recapture the initial form and success, but there may be other exceptions that I can't remember?

I am not one for bringing players back. They are never the same and many of them feel it is a comedown having left the club for better challenges. Coming back, in many cases, is like admitting failure. Just my take on players returning to their former clubs. (same as players at the end of their career coming to Celtic etc. as they always admired and were big fans with an ambition to play for us. Mostly male cow droppings. If they loved us that much then they would have signed earlier instead of looking for a payday. Not very often are these win/ win scenarios)

T T T, you are right his form this season has been very poor and he is dropped .
I don't think B R would have him as he is very poor with the ball at his feet, we may not be happy with Gordon but with Forster we would have more problems.

there is no natural law that Staes players going back can't wok. that's a superstition. Its down to the player and they ain't cursed. It isn't a thing. It may seem like a thing to people, but that doesn't make it one.
I'm not sure anyone we could afford to come back would improve us though. that's the problem. Playersyers sometimes return when they are on the slide. Its not going back that fecks it up, its time.

Crazy shout but if we are going to sell dembele how about taking Hernandez on loan for the rest of the season as part of the deal with them paying most his wages. I'm sure he would want game time with it being a world cup year and also to get some trophies under his belt! Never happen but good deal for all parties.

Here is a wild shout, if we do sell Dembele how about selling him to west ham and taking Hernandez on loan for the rest of the season as part of the deal. With them paying most of his wages. I'm sure he would be wanting game time and winning with it being a world cup year.

Not for me. Chicarito wouldn't cut it in the SPFL. I really cannot see Dembele leaving this window. and would have Leigh start over Chicarito all day long.

Are Celtic fans so short of home enjoyment and marriage rights that they get their kicks out of forecasting Dembele's departure . It's bad enough for the MSSM to write nonsense to try to upset the lad but some of our own are even worse .
As for that idiot Herandez, I wouldn't have him in Lennoxtown training with our youth.

Steady! I don't want dembele to leave any time. But it's likely he will one day. Hopefully for the best deal for him and the club. Hernandez hardly has the worst record about and has played in bigger league's than ours. He won't be coming here of course but if he did I don't think he would struggle. Keep your hat on!

Well rooney was just an example. Defoes goals per game is decent was my point as he did play for a few lesser teams therefore less chances.

I don't massively rate defoe but how is 242 goals in 638 games a joke? that's an average of about 1 in 2.6 games. Not bad considering he has played for some crap teams. Rooneys overall is 1 in 2.3 or something and he wasnt a bad player.

I don't think loans are bad if it helps short term, in Europe for example, as and signings we make aren't likely to be the finished product ready to make an impact. If we can do that then of course that is the preferred option.
