Celtic were on Wednesday night closing in on a deal for Manchester United teenager Saidy Janko.

The Switzerland Under 19 international is poised to become Ronny Deila's second capture of the transfer window following the arrival of Manchester City defender Derdryck Boyata.

Primarily a right back Janko can also play a right-sided attacking role.

I hope this is not true
A To short with Issy on the left we need a tall right back
B What is wrong with Fisher been given a good run
C If Mathews was a player we were considering moving on then why were we not chasing Simon O'Donnell from Thistle who was tall athletic now has good experience and knows Celtic, I know he did not make it the first time but he is 3 years older now.
Anyone who saw him last year could see he was one of the best right backs in the country

2.) 25 Jun 2015 08:58:53
Pleasantly shocked that this is a permanent deal. Remember him being branded the next Alaba bla bla when Utd signed him. Caught him a few times in the Barclays U21 Premier and a couple other games and the boy does look a talent and a half. He's a machine. When it comes to picking up young players this is a very shrewd signing. Just surprised it's a permanent deal. Ed why are Utd so keen to sell? Is it LVG's system doesn't have a future spot for him?

{Ed007's Note - Utd aren't keen to sell they wanted him to sign a new deal.}

3.) 25 Jun 2015 13:28:04
Ed is this janko guy any better than what we currently have.or is this one for the future.

{Ed007's Note - I've not seen enough of him but he's highly rated with Utd supporters.}

4.) 25 Jun 2015 13:47:16
@Jonace, Maybe Izzy is getting replaced with someone taller. Also, Ronny wouldn't take a player on if he didn't think he had something to offer. Maybe he just rates him more highly than Fisher.

5.) 25 Jun 2015 14:51:31
We've already got Efe , noo we're linked wi' Saidy . Whit's next? Any mair Players oot there wi women's first names that they say we're after? e.g. Senga , Mary , wee Jeanie or Lizzie mibbe . ?

The Sno Man

{Ed007's Note - Ashley Cole? Fran Sandaza? Rod Fanni? The last one isn't a girl's name but it's female related and perfectly describes one of my hobbies when I was younger! (tmi)

6.) 25 Jun 2015 15:58:51
What hobby ed sandazaing lol

{Ed007's Note - I've done a fair bit of sand dancing on Ayr beach after spending the night in Hangar 13!}

7.) 25 Jun 2015 16:56:16
Ha ha I bet you have . I used to drink in the anfield hotel when I visited ayr great little hotel

{Ed007's Note - I can't really remember much of being in Ayr back in the 90s if I'm honest.}

8.) 25 Jun 2015 17:51:25
Aw Come on Ed a man of your intellect can't remember? Are you being selective here as we aw know Ayrshire is zombie infested lol

And with your's (and mine) favourite sport being muff diving too

Neither of us can blame it on the drink so it is much easier mate to be as a said selective (y)

But we ran a bus from Paisley to Bobby Jones nightclub doon there in the early 90s some memories

{Ed007's Note - I remember Bobby Jones and Club De Mer or De Mar, and wasn't there someplace called The Metro or something like that as well? There used to be a bus that ran to FUBAR in Stirling on a Saturday as well, that was a good night out up there.
I remember going through to Ayr to play golf at the Irvine Golf Club a couple of times and not having a clue where I was in the daylight and with a straight head.}

9.) 25 Jun 2015 19:14:57
All my yesterday's mate lol Club de Mar as well yeah there were a pub round about there to that had mirror walls a walked right into it first time thinking the pub was bigger than it was lol and with me being a right poser it went down like the Titanic!

Never been to a night out that far up (Stirling) although Hamilton Palace nearer your neck of the woods brings back good memories too as well as Hamilton racecourse believe it or not! Ended up with a tart out there that had spent time in Oz and had a chunk out her thigh as she had been bitten by a SHARK ffs!

As a said Ed all our yesterday's mate :-)

{Ed007's Note - I've got oot ma face up and down the UK lol Hamilton Palace was just a cattle market and probably still is. I can remember Park Lane and The Rococco although I must have been only 15 or 16 when I was going into them.}

10.) 25 Jun 2015 19:18:00
Toot toot for the good times had in the old Ayr piv (hanger13) and the metro in Saltcoats haha the memories

11.) 27 Jun 2015 12:02:54
Never went to Hanger 13 but used to love the Metro and Rez. Was also some good clubs in Glasgow like Tin Pan Alley, Heaven, Hacienda and Peggy Sues.

Hi guys first time posting here, just I was reading a collum online and bothe rumours were mentioned Celtic have been given the green light to pursue Willem II left-back Mitchell Dijks at the end of the season, but the Dutch club say Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar are also interested in the £1m-rated 22-year-old.

Celtic and Burnley are among the clubs weighing up a move for Rodolph Austin following the 29-year-old Jamaican midfielder's release by Leeds United.

Here's a thought, If the board decided to call time on Ronnys reign who would be the candidates to come in?
Hail hail.

GlasgowShamrock

1.) 04 Feb 2016 11:40:41
hope he gets to the end of the season tbh, but do think that we should change, think we would be in the same boat as when lennon left, i'd go for alex neil.

2.) 04 Feb 2016 11:58:44
Hardly a mouth watering prospect for anyone. It's clear the boards strategy of spend little, hope a lot, doesn't work. Any money spent is on players who are pish. Ronnie's record is appalling.

His persistence with Ambrose, Johanson, Mcgreggor and Forrest shows me he hasn't a clue.

Alan and Christie need a run. Zonal marking needs ditched. Gordon needs to learn how to command the six yard box.

A 442 with The new guy in with Leigh. I liked the look of him. He might not score too many, but he will allow other to with his flicks and ability to hold up the baw.

Anyone coming in needs to be able to see the flaws everyone bar rd is aware of.

The usual names will pop up, Stubbs, Rogers, big Yogi, Jackie and the board need to get it right.

My fear is they will continue with Ronnie and we will descend even further into the sleeping giants dungeon of no return.

3.) 04 Feb 2016 12:39:05
I think we could bring in big Malky now, and give him a good run towards cleaning out and preparing for Europe. I know some people do not like the "he is a Celtic man" comments, but maybe that is what we need right now, someone who understand what it means to manage Celtic, has big club experience, and is not afraid to stand up for himself.

4.) 04 Feb 2016 12:49:55
Cesare Prandelli, Marcelo Bielsa, Lucien Favre, Walter Mazzarri, in that order! They're all out of work, very experienced, a good age, and have a great pedigree! I think even one of them would take the job if we made them a good offer, an offer they deserve! I don't want a Keane, a Giggs or Larsson, and I certainly don't want an Owen Coyle or a Neil Lennon! In the name of God, how hard can it be to put aside a few million per year out of the £50/ 60/ 70 million turnover to get a top manager! If only we could swap one for the salary Lawwell, Park and Cole are picking up!

5.) 04 Feb 2016 12:51:38
Moyes, Rogers, Keane, Michael O'Neill and Giggs would no doubt be chucked in straight away with no actual research and then a few more obscure ones would appear until we most likely appoint none of them.

6.) 04 Feb 2016 13:08:01
I personally would love to see Ralf Rangnick from RB Leipzig in Germany he has a great reputation for working with young players he took Hoffenheim from the 3rd division in Germany to the premier league and his oldest player was just 25! He knows how to run a club to as he has been director of football at Salzburg and Leipzig although he has only been the manager of Leipzig for this season he has been the man who behind there amazing rise from the 3rd division to now top of the 1st division in Germany he has been in charge of building a very talented young squad! Everton interviewed him for the job after moyes left and Bill kenwright said he was one of the most amazing men he has met in football.

7.) 04 Feb 2016 14:36:34
I don't know who it would be if we lost RD but I can garuantee that there would be lots of good/ great managers/ coaches in for the job.

8.) 04 Feb 2016 15:06:22
Like the last time Rayman?

Ralf Rangnick is a brilliant shout -- and the best I've heard yet -- but he isn't that different to RD in terms of what he's achieved: and like RD, what RR has achieved wasn't done quickly. It took time. Time that someone clearly won't be afforded by a selection of fans.

Most of the other suggestions range from unrealistic (Moyes) to fanciful (Bielsa) to downright depressing (Coyle/ MacKay) .

In fact, given some of the things said last night about Aberdeen's strengths and our weaknesses, if we were replacing RD we'd be better off going for Derek McInnes.

Anyone else think its time for a change of management?, forgive me if you think its harsh.

GlasgowShamrock

1.) 22 Oct 2015 21:41:58
Not harsh at all shamrock! your spot on mate! We've went back at an incredible rate under this management team! I'm not even going to list the goals we've lost in Europe or how many times we've been gubbed by inferior teams! Takes the guy who scores off! Unbelievable! This is 3 going on 5 or 6! Time for a change for me! This mob are mid table in Norway! Yes mid table in the Norwegian league!

2.) 22 Oct 2015 21:44:04
not harsh at all mate, I'm not one for back chat and decent from players but commons is spot on, it's always me getting subbed you see him saying to Collins and you can see in that ignorant wee bastards face he couldn't give a toss what the players think, getting sick n tired of this shower if shhhh.

3.) 22 Oct 2015 21:49:21
At the end of the day, the manager has to take the blame, talks a great game, and seems nice guy, but worst Celtic team I've seen for years.

Was reading further down the page and noticed ed and another couple of posters are under the impression that we are going to sign another striker, was just wondering who has been mentioned if anyone?

What's the rumours about jelle vossen all about?, I would love him to sign but I remember ed saying a summer or two ago he would be worth in the excess of 8million?, what's changed

GlasgowShamrock

{Ed001's Note - his value has dropped, Boro can purchase him for £2m.}

1.) 20 Jun 2015 11:06:58
I don't know enough about him & don't think I've seen him play to judge myself.

Do we rate him at all?

2.) 20 Jun 2015 21:56:28
But for what reason, has his goals dried up or.

Ed not being funny but do you not point the finger at Desmond due to the fact he clearly sanctions this type of money to be paid the lawwell but yet couldn't increase our wage structure?, I don't like lawwell as much as the next guy but he can't be blamed for what he's paid?

GlasgowShamrock

{Ed007's Note - Maybe DD should be looking for a better quality CEO that will at least give the club value for money instead of a self serving egomaniac who sees normal fans as no better than shit on his shoe.}

Think saying a better defence may be slightly out, I think that the defence need to be more focused and less naive VVD was at fault for there second and brown for their first, two of our top players treat this team with respect and we should in reality sweep them away
